ਕੋ ਦੂਸਰ ਪਟਤਰ ਤਿਹ ਦਿਜੈ ॥੩॥
ko doosar pattatar tih dijai |3|If there are others, let us give an analogy. 3.
ਸੌ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਏਕ ਚੌਧਰੀ ਸੁਤ ਪਰ ॥
sau triy ek chauadharee sut par |That woman on the son of a Chaudhary
ਅਟਕਿ ਗਈ ਤਰੁਨੀ ਅਤਿ ਰੁਚਿ ਕਰਿ ॥
attak gee tarunee at ruch kar |Became very interested.
ਮਿਜਮਾਨੀ ਛਲ ਤਾਹਿ ਬੁਲਾਯੋ ॥
mijamaanee chhal taeh bulaayo |Invited him as guest (to himself).
ਭਾਤਿ ਭਾਤਿ ਭੋਜਨਹਿ ਭੁਜਾਯੋ ॥੪॥
bhaat bhaat bhojaneh bhujaayo |4|And made different kinds of food. 4.
ਕੀਨਾ ਕੈਫ ਰਸਮਸੋ ਜਬ ਹੀ ॥
keenaa kaif rasamaso jab hee |When he was drunk with alcohol,
ਤਰੁਨੀ ਇਹ ਬਿਧਿ ਉਚਰੀ ਤਬ ਹੀ ॥
tarunee ih bidh ucharee tab hee |Then the woman started saying to him like this.
ਅਬ ਤੈ ਗਵਨ ਆਇ ਮੇਰੋ ਕਰਿ ॥
ab tai gavan aae mero kar |Now you have come to my house,
ਕਾਮ ਤਪਤ ਅਬ ਹੀ ਹਮਰੋ ਹਰਿ ॥੫॥
kaam tapat ab hee hamaro har |5|So remove my lust and heat too. 5.
ਤਬ ਇਹ ਬਿਧਿ ਤਿਨ ਪੁਰਖ ਉਚਾਰੀ ॥
tab ih bidh tin purakh uchaaree |Then the man said thus,
ਯੌ ਨ ਭਜੌ ਤੁਹਿ ਸੁਨਹੁ ਪ੍ਯਾਰੀ ॥
yau na bhajau tuhi sunahu payaaree |Oh dear! Listen, (I) can't play with you like this.
ਜੋ ਰਾਜਾ ਕੇ ਉਪਜ੍ਯੋ ਬਾਜੀ ॥
jo raajaa ke upajayo baajee |The (beautiful) horse born in the king's house,
ਸੋ ਦੈ ਪ੍ਰਥਮ ਆਨਿ ਮੁਹਿ ਤਾਜੀ ॥੬॥
so dai pratham aan muhi taajee |6|Bring me that horse first. 6.
ਤਬ ਤਿਨ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਬਿਚਾਰ ਅਸ ਕਿਯੋ ॥
tab tin triy bichaar as kiyo |Then that woman thought this
ਕਿਹ ਬਿਧਿ ਜਾਇ ਤੁਰੰਗਮ ਲਿਯੋ ॥
kih bidh jaae turangam liyo |How to go and bring the horse.
ਐਸੇ ਕਰਿਯੈ ਕਵਨੁਪਚਾਰਾ ॥
aaise kariyai kavanupachaaraa |What measures should be taken,
ਜਾ ਤੇ ਪਰੈ ਹਾਥ ਮੋ ਪ੍ਯਾਰਾ ॥੭॥
jaa te parai haath mo payaaraa |7|By doing that, the beloved (horse) will be put in the hand. 7.
ਅਰਧ ਰਾਤ੍ਰਿ ਬੀਤਤ ਭੀ ਜਬੈ ॥
aradh raatr beetat bhee jabai |When midnight passed,
ਸ੍ਵਾਨ ਭੇਖ ਧਾਰਾ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਤਬੈ ॥
svaan bhekh dhaaraa triy tabai |Then the woman disguised herself as a dog.
ਕਰ ਮਹਿ ਗਹਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਨ ਇਕ ਲਈ ॥
kar meh geh kripaan ik lee |He took a kirpan in his hand
ਬਾਜੀ ਹੁਤੋ ਜਹਾ ਤਹ ਗਈ ॥੮॥
baajee huto jahaa tah gee |8|And where the horse was, it went there. 8.
ਸਾਤ ਕੋਟ ਤਹ ਕੂਦਿ ਪਹੂੰਚੀ ॥
saat kott tah kood pahoonchee |(She) climbed the seven walls of the fort and reached there
ਦਾਨ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਨ ਮਾਨ ਕੀ ਸੂਚੀ ॥
daan kripaan maan kee soochee |Proficient in giving charity and honoring and carrying the Kirpan.
ਜਿਹ ਜਾਗਤ ਪਹਰੂਅਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਰੈ ॥
jih jaagat paharooar nihaarai |The watchman he saw awake,
ਤਾ ਕੋ ਮੂੰਡ ਕਾਟਿ ਕਰਿ ਡਾਰੈ ॥੯॥
taa ko moondd kaatt kar ddaarai |9|So his head was cut off. 9.
ਅੜਿਲ ॥

ਏਕ ਪਹਰੂਅਹਿ ਮਾਰਿ ਦੁਤਿਯ ਕਹ ਮਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
ek paharooeh maar dutiy kah maariyo |Killing one guard and then another,
ਤ੍ਰਿਤਿਯ ਮਾਰਿ ਚਤਰਥ ਕੋ ਸੀਸ ਉਤਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
tritiy maar chatarath ko sees utaariyo |Then he killed the third and took off the head of the fourth.
ਪੰਚਮ ਖਸਟਮ ਮਾਰਿ ਸਪਤਵੌ ਹਤਿ ਕਿਯੋ ॥
pancham khasattam maar sapatavau hat kiyo |By killing the fifth and sixth, the seventh was also eliminated
ਹੋ ਅਸਟਮ ਪੁਰਖ ਸੰਘਾਰਿ ਛੋਰਿ ਬਾਜੀ ਲਿਯੋ ॥੧੦॥
ho asattam purakh sanghaar chhor baajee liyo |10|And (then) killed the eighth man and opened the horse. 10.
ਪਰੀ ਨਗਰ ਮੈ ਰੌਰਿ ਜਬੈ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਹੈ ਹਰਿਯੋ ॥
paree nagar mai rauar jabai triy hai hariyo |When the woman beat the horse, there was an uproar in the town.
ਪਠੈ ਪਖਰਿਯਾ ਕਛਿ ਕਛਿ ਕਹੈ ਕਹਾ ਪਰਿਯੋ ॥
patthai pakhariyaa kachh kachh kahai kahaa pariyo |(The king) prepared and sent the horsemen and asked where (the horse) had gone.
ਬਾਟ ਘਾਟ ਸਭ ਰੋਕਿ ਗਹੋ ਇਹ ਚੋਰਿ ਕੌ ॥
baatt ghaatt sabh rok gaho ih chor kau |Catch this thief by blocking all the ghats and routes.
ਹੋ ਧਰ ਲੀਜੈ ਇਹ ਹੋਨ ਨ ਦੀਜੈ ਭੋਰ ਕੌ ॥੧੧॥
ho dhar leejai ih hon na deejai bhor kau |11|Take it before dawn. 11.
ਜਿਤ ਜਿਤ ਧਾਵਹਿ ਲੋਗ ਹਰਿਯੋ ਹੈ ਕਹੈ ਕਿਸ ॥
jit jit dhaaveh log hariyo hai kahai kis |Wherever the people are fleeing, (the same) they say, tell me who has stolen the horse.
ਕਢੈ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਨੈ ਦਿਖਿਯਤ ਧਾਵਤ ਦਸੌ ਦਿਸਿ ॥
kadtai kripaanai dikhiyat dhaavat dasau dis |Taking out the kirpans, (they) are seen running in ten directions.
ਅਸ ਕਾਰਜ ਜਿਹ ਕਿਯ ਨ ਜਾਨ ਤਿਹ ਦੀਜਿਯੈ ॥
as kaaraj jih kiy na jaan tih deejiyai |(They say) He who has done such a thing, should not be let go.
ਹੋ ਜ੍ਯੋਂ ਤ੍ਯੋਂ ਜੀਤਿ ਤੁਰੰਗ ਨ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਕੋ ਲੀਜਿਯੈ ॥੧੨॥
ho jayon tayon jeet turang nripat ko leejiyai |12|Like how, the king's horse should be brought back (ie should be brought back from the thief). 12.
ਬਹੁਤ ਪਹੂੰਚੇ ਨਿਕਟਿ ਤਰੁਨਿ ਕੇ ਜਾਇ ਕੈ ॥
bahut pahoonche nikatt tarun ke jaae kai |(Many) approached that girl.
ਫਿਰਿ ਮਾਰੇ ਤਿਨ ਵਹੈ ਤੁਰੰਗ ਨਚਾਇ ਕੈ ॥
fir maare tin vahai turang nachaae kai |(He) then mounted the same horse and killed them.
ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਜਾਹਿ ਚਲਾਕੀ ਬਾਹੀ ਬੇਗ ਤਨ ॥
kar kar jaeh chalaakee baahee beg tan |On whose body the sword was cleverly run,
ਹੋ ਤਿਨ ਕੀ ਹੌਸ ਨ ਰਾਖੀ ਰਾਖੇ ਏਕ ਬ੍ਰਨ ॥੧੩॥
ho tin kee hauas na raakhee raakhe ek bran |13|So by doing it once, their (desire to fight) will not remain. 13.
ਚੌਪਈ ॥

ਕੂਦ ਕੀਆ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਪਰ ਵਾਰਾ ॥
kood keea jaa ke par vaaraa |Whoever jumped and attacked him,
ਇਕ ਤੇ ਤਾਹਿ ਦੋਇ ਕਰਿ ਡਾਰਾ ॥
eik te taeh doe kar ddaaraa |Broke him one to two.
ਚੁਨਿ ਚੁਨਿ ਹਨੇ ਪਖਰਿਯਾ ਮਨ ਤੈ ॥
chun chun hane pakhariyaa man tai |(He) chose and killed the horsemen in his mind
ਦ੍ਵੈ ਦ੍ਵੈ ਗੇ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਇਕ ਇਕ ਤਨ ਤੈ ॥੧੪॥
dvai dvai ge hvai ik ik tan tai |14|And one by one they broke two pieces. 14.
ਬਹੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਬੀਰ ਪਖਰਿਯਾ ਮਾਰੈ ॥
bahu bidh beer pakhariyaa maarai |He killed the warriors in many ways.
