ਕਲਿ ਤਾਸੁ ਆਗਿਆ ਦੀਨ ॥
kal taas aagiaa deen |(When) Kal Purukh allowed him
ਤਬ ਬੇਦ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਕੀਨ ॥
tab bed brahamaa keen |When the Lord commended, then Brahma preprared the Vedas
ਤਬ ਤਾਸੁ ਬਾਢ੍ਯੋ ਗਰਬ ॥
tab taas baadtayo garab |Then he became proud (so he)
ਸਰਿ ਆਪੁ ਜਾਨ ਨ ਸਰਬ ॥੨੨॥
sar aap jaan na sarab |22|At that time his pride was increased and he did not consider anyone else like himself.22.
ਸਰਿ ਮੋਹ ਕਬਿ ਨਹਿ ਕੋਇ ॥
sar moh kab neh koe |There is no other poet like me.
ਇਕ ਆਪ ਹੋਇ ਤ ਹੋਇ ॥
eik aap hoe ta hoe |He thought that there was none other like him and there was no other poet like him
ਕਛੁ ਕਾਲ ਕੀ ਭੂਅ ਬਕ੍ਰ ॥
kachh kaal kee bhooa bakr |(Having such a state of mind) Kal Purukh's brows became crooked
ਛਿਤਿ ਡਾਰੀਆ ਜਿਮ ਸਕ੍ਰ ॥੨੩॥
chhit ddaareea jim sakr |23|On the Lord-God because unhappay and threw him on the ground like the Vajra of Indra.23.
ਜਬ ਗਿਰ੍ਯੋ ਭੂ ਤਰਿ ਆਨਿ ॥
jab girayo bhoo tar aan |When he fell to earth,
ਮੁਖ ਚਾਰ ਬੇਦ ਨਿਧਾਨ ॥
mukh chaar bed nidhaan |When Brahma, the ocean of four Vedas fell upon the earth,
ਉਠਿ ਲਾਗਿਆ ਫਿਰ ਸੇਵ ॥
autth laagiaa fir sev |Then the service started
ਜੀਅ ਜਾਨਿ ਦੇਵਿ ਅਭੇਵ ॥੨੪॥
jeea jaan dev abhev |24|He began to worship with the fullness of his heart the mysterious Lord, who is beyond the ken of gods.24.
ਦਸ ਲਖ ਬਰਖ ਪ੍ਰਮਾਨ ॥
das lakh barakh pramaan |For ten million years (he)
ਕੀਅ ਦੇਵਿ ਸੇਵ ਮਹਾਨ ॥
keea dev sev mahaan |Served the great Dev (Lord).
ਕਿਮਿ ਹੋਇ ਮੋਹਿ ਉਧਾਰ ॥
kim hoe mohi udhaar |How can I borrow
ਅਸ ਦੇਹੁ ਦੇਵ ਬਿਚਾਰ ॥੨੫॥
as dehu dev bichaar |25|He worshipped the Lord for ten Lakh years and he to the Lord of gods to redeem him in any in any way.25.
ਦੇਵੋ ਵਾਚ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਪ੍ਰਤਿ ॥
devo vaach brahamaa prat |SPEECH OF THE GOD
ਮਨ ਚਿਤ ਕੈ ਕਰਿ ਸੇਵ ॥
man chit kai kar sev |(O Brahma! You) serve with mind,
ਤਬ ਰੀਝਿ ਹੈ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ॥
tab reejh hai guradev |Then Gurudev will be pleased with you.
ਤਬ ਹੋਇ ਨਾਥ ਸਨਾਥ ॥
tab hoe naath sanaath |Then (you) will be sanath (capable) by (achieving) that nath
ਜਗਨਾਥ ਦੀਨਾ ਨਾਥ ॥੨੬॥
jaganaath deenaa naath |26|(Vishnu said) “When you will adore Lord-God with the fullness of your heart, then the Lord who is the support of the helpless, will fulfill you wish.”26.
ਸੁਨਿ ਬੈਨ ਯੌ ਮੁਖਚਾਰ ॥
sun bain yau mukhachaar |Brahma heard such words
ਕੀਅ ਚਉਕ ਚਿਤਿ ਬਿਚਾਰ ॥
keea chauk chit bichaar |And pondered in his mind in shock.
ਉਠਿ ਲਾਗਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵ ॥
autth laagiaa har sev |(Then) got up and engaged in the service of Hari
ਜਿਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਭਾਖ੍ਯੋ ਦੇਵ ॥੨੭॥
jih bhaat bhaakhayo dev |27|Hearing this Brahma began to worship and make offerings exactly in the same way, as Vishnu had suggested.27.
ਪਰਿ ਪਾਇ ਚੰਡਿ ਪ੍ਰਚੰਡ ॥
par paae chandd prachandd |Prachanda fell at the feet of Chandi
ਜਿਹ ਮੰਡ ਦੁਸਟ ਅਖੰਡ ॥
jih mandd dusatt akhandd |Who fought (Rana) with the wicked who could not be defeated
ਜ੍ਵਾਲਾਛ ਲੋਚਨ ਧੂਮ ॥
jvaalaachh lochan dhoom |And who made the volcano and the smoke
ਹਨਿ ਜਾਸੁ ਡਾਰੇ ਭੂਮਿ ॥੨੮॥
han jaas ddaare bhoom |28|Vishnu also said this, that the powerful Chandika, the destroyer of the tyrants should also be adored, who had killed the demons like Jawalaksha and Dhumar Lochan.28
ਤਿਸੁ ਜਾਪਿ ਹੋ ਜਬ ਜਾਪ ॥
tis jaap ho jab jaap |Chandi said, when he chants
ਤਬ ਹੋਇ ਪੂਰਨ ਸ੍ਰਾਪ ॥
tab hoe pooran sraap |“When you will worship all of them, then the curse on you will terminte
ਉਠਿ ਲਾਗ ਕਾਲ ਜਪੰਨ ॥
autth laag kaal japan |(Hearing this, Brahma) started chanting Kal Purukh
ਹਠਿ ਤਿਆਗ ਆਵ ਸਰੰਨ ॥੨੯॥
hatth tiaag aav saran |29|Worship the unmanifested Brahman and abandoning your persistence, you may go under his shelter.29.
ਜੇ ਜਾਤ ਤਾਸੁ ਸਰੰਨਿ ॥
je jaat taas saran |who take refuge in him,
ਤੇ ਹੈ ਧਰਾ ਮੈ ਧਨਿ ॥
te hai dharaa mai dhan |“Blessed are they, on the earth, who go under His refuge
ਤਿਨ ਕਉ ਨ ਕਉਨੈ ਤ੍ਰਾਸ ॥
tin kau na kaunai traas |They are not afraid of anyone
ਸਬ ਹੋਤ ਕਾਰਜ ਰਾਸ ॥੩੦॥
sab hot kaaraj raas |30|They do not fear anyone and all their tasks are fulfilled.30.
ਦਸ ਲਛ ਬਰਖ ਪ੍ਰਮਾਨ ॥
das lachh barakh pramaan |Up to ten million years
ਰਹ੍ਯੋ ਠਾਢ ਏਕ ਪਗਾਨ ॥
rahayo tthaadt ek pagaan |(Brahma) stood on one leg.
ਚਿਤ ਲਾਇ ਕੀਨੀ ਸੇਵ ॥
chit laae keenee sev |(Thus) serving with devotion,
ਤਬ ਰੀਝਿ ਗੇ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ॥੩੧॥
tab reejh ge guradev |31|For ten Lack years Brahma stood on one leg and when he served the Lord with the singleness of his heart, then the Guru-Lord was pleased.31.
ਜਬ ਭੇਤ ਦੇਵੀ ਦੀਨ ॥
jab bhet devee deen |When the goddess told the secret (of the service of the old man),
ਤਬ ਸੇਵ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਕੀਨ ॥
tab sev brahamaa keen |Then Brahma served (by placing a candle).
ਜਬ ਸੇਵ ਕੀ ਚਿਤ ਲਾਇ ॥
jab sev kee chit laae |When served with dedication,
ਤਬ ਰੀਝਿ ਗੇ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਇ ॥੩੨॥
tab reejh ge har raae |32|When with the goddess explained the myself, then Brahma served with fullness of his mind, and the unmanifested Bharma was pleased with him.32.
ਤਬ ਭਯੋ ਸੁ ਐਸ ਉਚਾਰ ॥
tab bhayo su aais uchaar |Then this (verse) was pronounced
ਹਉ ਆਹਿ ਗ੍ਰਬ ਪ੍ਰਹਾਰ ॥
hau aaeh grab prahaar |(Bhav-Akash Bani Hoi) (O Brahma!) I am the destroyer of pride.
ਮਮ ਗਰਬ ਕਹੂੰ ਨ ਛੋਰਿ ॥
mam garab kahoon na chhor |I have not spared anyone's pride.
ਸਭ ਕੀਨ ਜੇਰ ਮਰੋਰਿ ॥੩੩॥
sabh keen jer maror |33|Then there was such-like voice from heaven,”I am the masher of pride and I have subjugated all.33.
ਤੈ ਗਰਬ ਕੀਨ ਸੁ ਕਾਹਿ ॥
tai garab keen su kaeh |Why are you proud?
ਨਹਿ ਮੋਹ ਭਾਵਤ ਤਾਹਿ ॥
neh moh bhaavat taeh |“You had been puffed up with pride, therefore I did not like you
ਅਬ ਕਹੋ ਏਕ ਬਿਚਾਰ ॥
ab kaho ek bichaar |Now let me say an idea (jugat),
ਜਿਮਿ ਹੋਇ ਤੋਹਿ ਉਧਾਰ ॥੩੪॥
jim hoe tohi udhaar |34|Now I sea this and tell you as to how you will be redeemed.34.
ਧਰਿ ਸਪਤ ਭੂਮਿ ਵਤਾਰ ॥
dhar sapat bhoom vataar |(You) go to earth and assume seven incarnations,
ਤਬ ਹੋਇ ਤੋਹਿ ਉਧਾਰਿ ॥
tab hoe tohi udhaar |“You may now assume seven incarnation on the earth for your redemption
ਸੋਈ ਮਾਨ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਲੀਨ ॥
soee maan brahamaa leen |He (came) accepted by Brahma
ਧਰਿ ਜਨਮ ਜਗਤਿ ਨਵੀਨ ॥੩੫॥
dhar janam jagat naveen |35|” Brahma accepted all this and assumed new births in the world.35.
ਮੁਰਿ ਨਿੰਦ ਉਸਤਤਿ ਤੂਲਿ ॥
mur nind usatat tool |Condemnation and praise are the same for me.
ਇਮਿ ਜਾਨਿ ਜੀਯ ਜਿਨਿ ਭੂਲਿ ॥
eim jaan jeey jin bhool |“Never forget from your mind my slander and praise
ਇਕ ਕਹੋ ਔਰ ਬਿਚਾਰ ॥
eik kaho aauar bichaar |Let me say another thought.
ਸੁਨਿ ਲੇਹੁ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਕੁਮਾਰ ॥੩੬॥
sun lehu braham kumaar |36|O Brahma! Also listen to one thing more36
ਇਕ ਬਿਸਨੁ ਮੋਹਿ ਧਿਆਨ ॥
eik bisan mohi dhiaan |A Vishnu (the god named) also (did) my meditation.
ਬਹੁ ਸੇਵਿ ਮੋਹਿ ਰਿਝਾਨ ॥
bahu sev mohi rijhaan |“A god named Vishnu has also meditated on me and greatly pleased me
ਤਿਨਿ ਮਾਗਿਆ ਬਰ ਐਸ ॥
tin maagiaa bar aais |He asked for this kind of boon
ਮਮ ਦੀਨ ਤਾ ਕਹੁ ਤੈਸ ॥੩੭॥
mam deen taa kahu tais |37|He has also asked for a boon from me, which I have bestowed on him.37.
ਮਮ ਤਾਸ ਭੇਦ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥
mam taas bhed na koe |There is no difference between me and him.
ਸਬ ਲੋਕ ਜਾਨਤ ਸੋਇ ॥
sab lok jaanat soe |“There is no difference between me and him, all the people know this
ਤਿਹ ਜਾਨ ਹੈ ਕਰਤਾਰ ॥
tih jaan hai karataar |To him (the people) all the people-hereafter
ਸਬ ਲੋਕ ਅਲੋਕ ਪਹਾਰ ॥੩੮॥
sab lok alok pahaar |38|The people consider him the creator of this and the next world and their destroyer.38.
ਜਬ ਜਬ ਧਰੇ ਬਪੁ ਸੋਇ ॥
jab jab dhare bap soe |Whenever he (Vishnu) will assume a body (avatar).
ਜੋ ਜੋ ਪਰਾਕ੍ਰਮ ਹੋਇ ॥
jo jo paraakram hoe |And whosoever shall do prowess,
ਸੋ ਸੋ ਕਥੌ ਅਬਿਚਾਰ ॥
so so kathau abichaar |(You) recite that (prowess) without thinking.
