ਚਤੁਰ ਬੇਦ ਚਰਚਾ ॥੨੫੭॥
chatur bed charachaa |257|

He made offerings to the goddess and there was the discussion about the four Vedas.257.

ਸ੍ਰੁਤੰ ਸਰਬ ਪਾਠੰ ॥
srutan sarab paatthan |

recites all the Vedas,

ਸੁ ਸੰਨ੍ਯਾਸ ਰਾਠੰ ॥
su sanayaas raatthan |

Recitation of all the Shrutis was performed for that Sannyas at the suitable place

ਮਹਾਜੋਗ ਨ੍ਯਾਸੰ ॥
mahaajog nayaasan |

He is a practitioner of great yoga

ਸਦਾਈ ਉਦਾਸੰ ॥੨੫੮॥
sadaaee udaasan |258|

The great practices of Yoga were held and there was atmosphere of detachment.258.

ਖਟੰ ਸਾਸਤ੍ਰ ਚਰਚਾ ॥
khattan saasatr charachaa |

Six Shastras are discussed,

ਰਟੈ ਬੇਦ ਅਰਚਾ ॥
rattai bed arachaa |

chants and worships the Vedas,

ਮਹਾ ਮੋਨ ਮਾਨੀ ॥
mahaa mon maanee |

The great is proud of the silence

ਕਿ ਸੰਨ੍ਯਾਸ ਧਾਨੀ ॥੨੫੯॥
ki sanayaas dhaanee |259|

There was discussion of six Shastras and the recitation of the Vedas and the Sannyasis observed great silence.259.

ਚਲਾ ਦਤ ਆਗੈ ॥
chalaa dat aagai |

Dutt walked forward,

ਲਖੇ ਪਾਪ ਭਾਗੈ ॥
lakhe paap bhaagai |

Then Dutt move still further and seeing him, the sins fled away

ਲਖੀ ਏਕ ਕੰਨਿਆ ॥
lakhee ek kaniaa |

(He) saw a maiden

ਤਿਹੂੰ ਲੋਗ ਧੰਨਿਆ ॥੨੬੦॥
tihoon log dhaniaa |260|

There he was a girl, making the three worlds blessed ones.260.

ਮਹਾ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਚਾਰੀ ॥
mahaa brahamachaaree |

(Datta) is a great celibate,

ਸੁ ਧਰਮਾਧਿਕਾਰੀ ॥
su dharamaadhikaaree |

Shrestha is the authority of religion.

ਲਖੀ ਪਾਨਿ ਵਾ ਕੇ ॥
lakhee paan vaa ke |

In her (girl's) hand

ਗੁਡੀ ਬਾਲਿ ਤਾ ਕੇ ॥੨੬੧॥
guddee baal taa ke |261|

This authority of Dharma and the great celibate saw a doll in her hand.261.

ਖਿਲੈ ਖੇਲ ਤਾ ਸੋ ॥
khilai khel taa so |

(She) plays with him.

ਇਸੋ ਹੇਤ ਵਾ ਸੋ ॥
eiso het vaa so |

(With him) there is such an interest

ਪੀਐ ਪਾਨਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ॥
peeai paan na aavai |

That (she) does not come to drink water

ਇਸੋ ਖੇਲ ਭਾਵੈ ॥੨੬੨॥
eiso khel bhaavai |262|

She was playing with it and she loved it so much that she drank water and continued to play with it.262.

ਗਏ ਮੋਨਿ ਮਾਨੀ ॥
ge mon maanee |

The great silent one (Datta) went there

ਤਰੈ ਦਿਸਟ ਆਨੀ ॥
tarai disatt aanee |

And brought (that child) under sight.

ਨ ਬਾਲਾ ਨਿਹਾਰ੍ਯੋ ॥
n baalaa nihaarayo |

(But that) child has not seen (it).

ਨ ਖੇਲੰ ਬਿਸਾਰ੍ਯੋ ॥੨੬੩॥
n khelan bisaarayo |263|

All those silence-observing Yogis went to that side and they saw her, but that girl did not see them and did not stop playing,263.

ਲਖੀ ਦਤ ਬਾਲਾ ॥
lakhee dat baalaa |

Datta saw (that) girl,

ਮਨੋ ਰਾਗਮਾਲਾ ॥
mano raagamaalaa |

The teeth the girl were like the garland of flowers

ਰੰਗੀ ਰੰਗਿ ਖੇਲੰ ॥
rangee rang khelan |

He was totally engrossed in the game,

ਮਨੋ ਨਾਗ੍ਰ ਬੇਲੰ ॥੨੬੪॥
mano naagr belan |264|

She was absorbed in frolic like the creeper clinging to the tree.264.

ਤਬੈ ਦਤ ਰਾਯੰ ॥
tabai dat raayan |

Then Dutt Raj went and saw him

ਲਖੇ ਤਾਸ ਜਾਯੰ ॥
lakhe taas jaayan |

And took him as Guru (and said that)

ਗੁਰੂ ਤਾਸ ਕੀਨਾ ॥
guroo taas keenaa |

In Maha Mantra (inj) should be immersed

ਮਹਾ ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਭੀਨਾ ॥੨੬੫॥
mahaa mantr bheenaa |265|

Then Dutt, seeing her, eulogized her and accepting her as his Guru, he was absorbed in his great mantra.265.

ਗੁਰੂ ਤਾਸ ਜਾਨ੍ਯੋ ॥
guroo taas jaanayo |

He came to be known as Guru.

ਇਮੰ ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਠਾਨ੍ਰਯੋ ॥
eiman mantr tthaanrayo |

He accepted her as his Guru and in this way, adopted the mantra

ਦਸੰ ਦ੍ਵੈ ਨਿਧਾਨੰ ॥
dasan dvai nidhaanan |

The twelfth treasure form Guru

ਗੁਰੂ ਦਤ ਜਾਨੰ ॥੨੬੬॥
guroo dat jaanan |266|

In this way, Dutt adopted his twelfth Guru.266.

ਰੁਣਝੁਣ ਛੰਦ ॥
runajhun chhand |

RUNJHUN STANZA

ਲਖਿ ਛਬਿ ਬਾਲੀ ॥
lakh chhab baalee |

Saw the image of the child

ਅਤਿ ਦੁਤਿ ਵਾਲੀ ॥
at dut vaalee |

The beauty of that girl was unique and marvelous

ਅਤਿਭੁਤ ਰੂਪੰ ॥
atibhut roopan |

(He had) a wonderful form,

ਜਣੁ ਬੁਧਿ ਕੂਪੰ ॥੨੬੭॥
jan budh koopan |267|

She appeared to be a store of intellect the sage saw her.267.

ਫਿਰ ਫਿਰ ਪੇਖਾ ॥
fir fir pekhaa |

looked (at him) again and again,

ਬਹੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਲੇਖਾ ॥
bahu bidh lekhaa |

well known,

ਤਨ ਮਨ ਜਾਨਾ ॥
tan man jaanaa |

Know by heart

ਗੁਨ ਗਨ ਮਾਨਾ ॥੨੬੮॥
gun gan maanaa |268|

Then he saw her again and again in various ways and accepted her quality in his mind and body.268.

ਤਿਹ ਗੁਰ ਕੀਨਾ ॥
tih gur keenaa |

made him a Guru,

ਅਤਿ ਜਸੁ ਲੀਨਾ ॥
at jas leenaa |
