ਮੁਹਿ ਕਸ ਚਹਤ ਭਲਾਈ ਕਰਿਯੋ ॥੭॥
muhi kas chahat bhalaaee kariyo |7|What good will she (good) want to do to me. 7.
ਪਤਿ ਮਾਰਿਯੋ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਹਿਤ ਗਯੋ ॥
pat maariyo jaa ke hit gayo |For whom the husband had killed, (he also) went.
ਸੋ ਭੀ ਅੰਤ ਨ ਤਾ ਕੋ ਭਯੋ ॥
so bhee ant na taa ko bhayo |That too did not happen to him in the end.
ਐਸੋ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਕਛੂ ਨਹੀ ਕਰਿਯੋ ॥
aaiso mitr kachhoo nahee kariyo |(He started thinking in his mind) Do not do anything from such a friend.
ਇਹ ਰਾਖੇ ਤੇ ਭਲੋ ਸੰਘਰਿਯੋ ॥੮॥
eih raakhe te bhalo sanghariyo |8|It is better than keeping it, let's kill it. 8.
ਕਰ ਮਹਿ ਕਾਢਿ ਭਗੌਤੀ ਲਈ ॥
kar meh kaadt bhagauatee lee |He took out the sword in his hand
ਦੁਹੂੰ ਹਾਥ ਤਾ ਕੋ ਸਿਰ ਦਈ ॥
duhoon haath taa ko sir dee |And hit him on the head with both hands.
ਹਾਇ ਹਾਇ ਜਿਮਿ ਭੂਪ ਪੁਕਾਰੈ ॥
haae haae jim bhoop pukaarai |As the king called out 'hi hi',
ਤ੍ਰਯੋ ਤ੍ਰਯੋ ਨਾਰਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਨਨ ਮਾਰੈ ॥੯॥
trayo trayo naar kripaanan maarai |9|Every now and then the woman went on fighting with the sword. 9.
ਦ੍ਵੈ ਦਿਨ ਭਏ ਨ ਪਤਿ ਕੇ ਮਰੈ ॥
dvai din bhe na pat ke marai |(People started saying that it is not even two days since my) husband died
ਐਸੀ ਲਗੇ ਅਬੈ ਏ ਕਰੈ ॥
aaisee lage abai e karai |And now they are starting to do so.
ਧ੍ਰਿਗ ਜਿਯਬੋ ਪਿਯ ਬਿਨੁ ਜਗ ਮਾਹੀ ॥
dhrig jiyabo piy bin jag maahee |To live in the world without a husband is a curse,
ਜਾਰ ਚੋਰ ਜਿਹ ਹਾਥ ਚਲਾਹੀ ॥੧੦॥
jaar chor jih haath chalaahee |10|Where thieves are working. 10.
ਮਰਿਯੋ ਨਿਰਖਿ ਤਿਹ ਸਭਨ ਉਚਾਰਾ ॥
mariyo nirakh tih sabhan uchaaraa |Seeing (him) dead, everyone said,
ਭਲਾ ਕਰਾ ਤੈ ਜਾਰ ਸੰਘਾਰਾ ॥
bhalaa karaa tai jaar sanghaaraa |You have done well to have killed the fellow.
ਚਾਦਰ ਕੀ ਲਜਾ ਤੈ ਰਾਖੀ ॥
chaadar kee lajaa tai raakhee |You have saved the shelter of the curtain (decency).
ਧੰਨ੍ਯ ਧੰਨ੍ਯ ਪੁਤ੍ਰੀ ਤੂ ਭਾਖੀ ॥੧੧॥
dhanay dhanay putree too bhaakhee |11|(All) began to say, O daughter! You are blessed. 11.
ਇਤਿ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰ ਪਖ੍ਯਾਨੇ ਤ੍ਰਿਯਾ ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰੇ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੀ ਭੂਪ ਸੰਬਾਦੇ ਤੀਨ ਸੌ ਦੋ ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰ ਸਮਾਪਤਮ ਸਤੁ ਸੁਭਮ ਸਤੁ ॥੩੦੨॥੫੮੨੦॥ਅਫਜੂੰ॥

ਅਭਰਨ ਸਿੰਘ ਸੁਨਾ ਇਕ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਬਰ ॥
abharan singh sunaa ik nrip bar |A great king named Abharan Singh has heard,
ਲਜਤ ਹੋਤ ਜਿਹ ਨਿਰਖਿ ਦਿਵਾਕਰ ॥
lajat hot jih nirakh divaakar |Seeing which even the sun used to be shy.
ਅਭਰਨ ਦੇਇ ਸਦਨ ਮਹਿ ਨਾਰੀ ॥
abharan dee sadan meh naaree |Abharan Dei was the lady of his house
ਮਥਿ ਅਭਰਨ ਜਣੁ ਸਕਲ ਨਿਕਾਰੀ ॥੧॥
math abharan jan sakal nikaaree |1|Whom it is as if abharan (jewellery) is made by kneading it. 1.
ਰਾਨੀ ਹੁਤੀ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਸੇਤੀ ਰਤਿ ॥
raanee hutee mitr setee rat |The queen was engaged to (a) friend
ਭੋਗਤ ਹੁਤੀ ਤਵਨ ਕਹ ਨਿਤਿਪ੍ਰਤਿ ॥
bhogat hutee tavan kah nitiprat |And used to play with him daily.
ਇਕ ਦਿਨ ਭੇਦ ਰਾਵ ਲਖਿ ਪਾਯੋ ॥
eik din bhed raav lakh paayo |One day the king came to know the secret.
ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਕੇ ਧਾਮ ਬਿਲੋਕਨ ਆਯੋ ॥੨॥
triy ke dhaam bilokan aayo |2|(He) came to see the woman's house. 2.
ਤਹ ਤੇ ਲਯੋ ਪਕਰਿ ਇਕ ਜਾਰਾ ॥
tah te layo pakar ik jaaraa |A friend (of the queen) was caught there
ਤੌਨੇ ਠੌਰਿ ਮਾਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਡਾਰਾ ॥
tauane tthauar maar kar ddaaraa |And killed on the spot.
ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਜਾਨਿ ਨ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਮਾਰੀ ॥
eisatree jaan na isatree maaree |Don't kill a woman as a woman
ਚਿਤ ਅਪਨੇ ਤੇ ਦਈ ਬਿਸਾਰੀ ॥੩॥
chit apane te dee bisaaree |3|And forgot from his mind. 3.
ਬੀਤਤ ਬਰਖ ਅਧਿਕ ਜਬ ਭਏ ॥
beetat barakh adhik jab bhe |When many years passed
ਰਾਨੀ ਬਹੁ ਉਪਚਾਰ ਬਨਏ ॥
raanee bahu upachaar bane |And the queen also took many measures.
ਰਾਜਾ ਤਾ ਕੇ ਧਾਮ ਨ ਆਯੋ ॥
raajaa taa ke dhaam na aayo |But the king did not come to her house.
ਤਬ ਇਕ ਔਰੁਪਚਾਰ ਬਨਾਯੋ ॥੪॥
tab ik aauarupachaar banaayo |4|Then (he) did another remedy. 4.
ਰਾਨੀ ਭੇਸ ਸੰਨ੍ਯਾਸਿਨਿ ਕੋ ਧਰਿ ॥
raanee bhes sanayaasin ko dhar |The queen assumed the guise of sannyasan.
ਜਾਤ ਭਈ ਤਜਿ ਧਾਮ ਨਿਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ॥
jaat bhee taj dhaam nikar kar |She left the house.
ਖੇਲਤ ਨ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਅਖਿਟ ਜਬ ਆਯੋ ॥
khelat nripat akhitt jab aayo |When the king came to play hunting,
ਏਕ ਹਰਿਨ ਲਖਿ ਤੁਰੰਗ ਧਵਾਯੋ ॥੫॥
ek harin lakh turang dhavaayo |5|(Then) seeing a deer, the horse ran (after it).5.
ਜੋਜਨ ਕਿਤਕ ਨਗਰ ਤੇ ਗਯੋ ॥
jojan kitak nagar te gayo |How many yojans have gone (far) from the city.
ਪਹੁਚਤ ਜਹ ਨ ਮਨੁਛ ਇਕ ਭਯੋ ॥
pahuchat jah na manuchh ik bhayo |He reached (there) where there was not a single human being.
ਉਤਰਿਯੋ ਬਿਕਲ ਬਾਗ ਮੈ ਜਾਈ ॥
autariyo bikal baag mai jaaee |Distraught, he landed in a garden.
ਰਾਨੀ ਇਕਲ ਪਹੂਚੀ ਆਈ ॥੬॥
raanee ikal pahoochee aaee |6|(There) a single (ascetic) Rani arrived. 6.
ਸੰਨ੍ਯਾਸਿਨਿ ਕੋ ਭੇਸ ਬਨਾਏ ॥
sanayaasin ko bhes banaae |He had disguised as a monk
ਸੀਸ ਜਟਨ ਕੋ ਜੂਟ ਛਕਾਏ ॥
sees jattan ko joott chhakaae |And there was a bunch of jatas on the head.
ਜੋ ਨਰੁ ਤਾ ਕੋ ਰੂਪ ਨਿਹਾਰੈ ॥
jo nar taa ko roop nihaarai |One who sees his form,
ਉਰਝਿ ਰਹੈ ਨਹਿ ਸੰਕ ਬਿਚਾਰੈ ॥੭॥
aurajh rahai neh sank bichaarai |7|He would remain confused and no one would doubt. 7.
ਉਤਰਤ ਬਾਗ ਤਿਹੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਭਈ ॥
autarat baag tihee triy bhee |That woman also landed in the garden there
