ਫਿਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਇਹ ਆਗਿਆ ਦਈ ਦੇਵਨ ਸਕਲ ਬੁਲਾਇ ॥
fir har ih aagiaa dee devan sakal bulaae |Hari then called all the gods and gave permission,
ਜਾਇ ਰੂਪ ਤੁਮ ਹੂੰ ਧਰੋ ਹਉ ਹੂੰ ਧਰਿ ਹੌ ਆਇ ॥੧੩॥
jaae roop tum hoon dharo hau hoon dhar hau aae |13|Then the Lord called all the gods and ordered them to incarnate before him.13.
ਬਾਤ ਸੁਨੀ ਜਬ ਦੇਵਤਨ ਕੋਟਿ ਪ੍ਰਨਾਮ ਜੁ ਕੀਨ ॥
baat sunee jab devatan kott pranaam ju keen |When the gods (heard this) of Hari, (then) prostrated a million times
ਆਪ ਸਮੇਤ ਸੁ ਧਾਮੀਐ ਲੀਨੇ ਰੂਪ ਨਵੀਨ ॥੧੪॥
aap samet su dhaameeai leene roop naveen |14|When the gods heard this, they bowed and assumed the new forms of cowherds alongwith their wives.14.
ਰੂਪ ਧਰੇ ਸਭ ਸੁਰਨ ਯੌ ਭੂਮਿ ਮਾਹਿ ਇਹ ਭਾਇ ॥
roop dhare sabh suran yau bhoom maeh ih bhaae |In this way, all the gods (new humans) came to earth in form.
ਅਬ ਲੀਲਾ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਦੇਵਕੀ ਮੁਖ ਤੇ ਕਹੋ ਸੁਨਾਇ ॥੧੫॥
ab leelaa sree devakee mukh te kaho sunaae |15|In this way, all the gods assumed new forms on the earth and now I narrate the story of Devaki.15.
ਇਤਿ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਬਿਸਨੁ ਅਵਤਾਰ ਹ੍ਵੈਬੋ ਬਰਨਨੰ ਸਮਾਪਤੰ ॥
eit sree bisan avataar hvaibo barananan samaapatan |End of the description about the decision of Vishnu to incarnate.

ਉਗ੍ਰਸੈਨ ਕੀ ਕੰਨਿਕਾ ਨਾਮ ਦੇਵਕੀ ਤਾਸ ॥
augrasain kee kanikaa naam devakee taas |The daughter of Ugrasain, whose name was 'Devki',
ਸੋਮਵਾਰ ਦਿਨ ਜਠਰ ਤੇ ਕੀਨੋ ਤਾਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ ॥੧੬॥
somavaar din jatthar te keeno taeh prakaas |16|The birth of the daughter of Ugrasain named Devaki took place on Monday.16.
ਇਤਿ ਦੇਵਕੀ ਕੋ ਜਨਮ ਬਰਨਨੰ ਪ੍ਰਿਥਮ ਧਿਆਇ ਸਮਾਪਤਮ ॥
eit devakee ko janam barananan pritham dhiaae samaapatam |End of the first Chapter regarding the description about the Birth of Devaki.

ਜਬੈ ਭਈ ਵਹਿ ਕੰਨਿਕਾ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਬਰ ਕੈ ਜੋਗੁ ॥
jabai bhee veh kanikaa sundar bar kai jog |When she became a beautiful maiden (Devki) var
ਰਾਜ ਕਹੀ ਬਰ ਕੇ ਨਿਮਿਤ ਢੂੰਢਹੁ ਅਪਨਾ ਲੋਗ ॥੧੭॥
raaj kahee bar ke nimit dtoondtahu apanaa log |17|When that beautiful girl reached the marriageable age, then the king asked his men to search for a suitable match for her.17.
ਦੂਤ ਪਠੇ ਤਿਨ ਜਾਇ ਕੈ ਨਿਰਖ੍ਰਯੋ ਹੈ ਬਸੁਦੇਵ ॥
doot patthe tin jaae kai nirakhrayo hai basudev |The messenger sent to this occasion went and saw Basudeva
ਮਦਨ ਬਦਨ ਸੁਖ ਕੋ ਸਦਨੁ ਲਖੈ ਤਤ ਕੋ ਭੇਵ ॥੧੮॥
madan badan sukh ko sadan lakhai tat ko bhev |18|The consul was sent, who approved the selection of Vasudev, whose face was like cupid and who was the abode of all comforts and master of discriminating intellect.18.

ਦੀਨੋ ਹੈ ਤਿਲਕੁ ਜਾਇ ਭਾਲਿ ਬਸੁਦੇਵ ਜੂ ਕੇ ਡਾਰਿਯੋ ਨਾਰੀਏਰ ਗੋਦ ਮਾਹਿ ਦੈ ਅਸੀਸ ਕੌ ॥
deeno hai tilak jaae bhaal basudev joo ke ddaariyo naareer god maeh dai asees kau |Putting a cocoanut in the lap of Vasudev and blessing him, a frontal mark was put on his forehead
ਦੀਨੀ ਹੈ ਬਡਾਈ ਪੈ ਮਿਠਾਈ ਹੂੰ ਤੇ ਮੀਠੀ ਸਭ ਜਨ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਈ ਅਉਰ ਈਸਨ ਕੇ ਈਸ ਕੌ ॥
deenee hai baddaaee pai mitthaaee hoon te meetthee sabh jan man bhaaee aaur eesan ke ees kau |He eulogized him, sweeter than the sweetmeats, which was even liked by the Lord
ਮਨ ਜੁ ਪੈ ਆਈ ਸੋ ਤੋ ਕਹਿ ਕੈ ਸੁਨਾਈ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਸਭ ਭਾਈ ਮਨ ਮਧ ਘਰਨੀਸ ਕੋ ॥
man ju pai aaee so to keh kai sunaaee taa kee sobhaa sabh bhaaee man madh gharanees ko |Coming home, he fully appreciated him before the women of the house
ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗ ਗਾਈ ਜਿਨਿ ਸੋਭਾ ਜਾ ਕੀ ਗਾਈ ਸੋ ਤੋ ਏਕ ਲੋਕ ਕਹਾ ਲੋਕ ਭੇਦੇ ਬੀਸ ਤੀਸ ਕੋ ॥੧੯॥
saare jag gaaee jin sobhaa jaa kee gaaee so to ek lok kahaa lok bhede bees tees ko |19|His praises were sung in the whole world, which echoed not only in this world but also penetrated into twenty thirty other regions.19.

ਕੰਸ ਬਾਸਦੇਵੈ ਤਬੈ ਜੋਰਿਓ ਬ੍ਯਾਹ ਸਮਾਜ ॥
kans baasadevai tabai jorio bayaah samaaj |On this side Kansa and on that side Vasudev made arrangements for the marriage
ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਭਏ ਸਭ ਧਰਨਿ ਮੈ ਬਾਜਨ ਲਾਗੇ ਬਾਜ ॥੨੦॥
prasan bhe sabh dharan mai baajan laage baaj |20|All the people of the world were filled with joy and the musical instruments were played.20.
ਅਥ ਦੇਵਕੀ ਕੋ ਬ੍ਯਾਹ ਕਥਨੰ ॥

ਆਸਨਿ ਦਿਜਨ ਕੋ ਧਰ ਕੈ ਤਰਿ ਤਾ ਕੋ ਨਵਾਇ ਲੈ ਜਾਇ ਬੈਠਾਯੋ ॥
aasan dijan ko dhar kai tar taa ko navaae lai jaae baitthaayo |The Brahmins were seated on seats and took (Basudeva) near them.
ਕੁੰਕਮ ਕੋ ਘਸ ਕੈ ਕਰਿ ਪੁਰੋਹਿਤ ਬੇਦਨ ਕੀ ਧੁਨਿ ਸਿਉ ਤਿਹ ਲਾਯੋ ॥
kunkam ko ghas kai kar purohit bedan kee dhun siau tih laayo |The seats were presented to Brahmins respectfully, who, reciting Vedic mantras and rubbing saffron etc. applied it on the forehead of Vasudev
ਡਾਰਤ ਫੂਲ ਪੰਚਾਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਅਛਤ ਮੰਗਲਚਾਰ ਭਇਓ ਮਨ ਭਾਯੋ ॥
ddaarat fool panchaamrit achhat mangalachaar bheio man bhaayo |Flowers were showered (upon Basudeva), Panchamrit and rice and Mangalachar (with substances) (of Basudeva) were pleasingly (worshipped).
ਭਾਟ ਕਲਾਵੰਤ ਅਉਰ ਗੁਨੀ ਸਭ ਲੈ ਬਖਸੀਸ ਮਹਾ ਜਸੁ ਗਾਯੋ ॥੨੧॥
bhaatt kalaavant aaur gunee sabh lai bakhasees mahaa jas gaayo |21|They mixed also the flowers and panchamrit and sang songs of praise. On this occasion the ministrels, artists and talented persons eulogized them and received awards.21.

ਰੀਤਿ ਬਰਾਤਿਨ ਦੁਲਹ ਕੀ ਬਾਸੁਦੇਵ ਸਭ ਕੀਨ ॥
reet baraatin dulah kee baasudev sabh keen |Basudeva performed all the rites of the bridegroom and bridegroom.
ਤਬੈ ਕਾਜ ਚਲਬੇ ਨਿਮਿਤ ਮਥੁਰਾ ਮੈ ਮਨੁ ਦੀਨ ॥੨੨॥
tabai kaaj chalabe nimit mathuraa mai man deen |22|Vasudev made all the preparations for wedding and made arrangements for going to Mathura.22.
ਬਾਸਦੇਵ ਕੋ ਆਗਮਨ ਉਗ੍ਰਸੈਨ ਸੁਨਿ ਲੀਨ ॥
baasadev ko aagaman ugrasain sun leen |(When) Ugrasain heard the arrival of Basudeva
ਚਮੂ ਸਬੈ ਚਤੁਰੰਗਨੀ ਭੇਜਿ ਅਗਾਊ ਦੀਨ ॥੨੩॥
chamoo sabai chaturanganee bhej agaaoo deen |23|When Ugarsain came to know of the arrival of Vasudev, he sent his four types of forces to welcome him, in advance.23.
ਸਵੈਯਾ ॥

ਆਪਸ ਮੈ ਮਿਲਬੇ ਹਿਤ ਕਉ ਦਲ ਸਾਜ ਚਲੇ ਧੁਜਨੀ ਪਤਿ ਐਸੇ ॥
aapas mai milabe hit kau dal saaj chale dhujanee pat aaise |Having arranged the armies to meet each other, the generals proceeded in this way.
ਲਾਲ ਕਰੇ ਪਟ ਪੈ ਡਰ ਕੇਸਰ ਰੰਗ ਭਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਨਾ ਪਤਿ ਕੈਸੇ ॥
laal kare patt pai ddar kesar rang bhare pratinaa pat kaise |The forces of both sides moved for mutual union all of them had tied red turbans and they looked very impressive filled with joy and gaiety
ਰੰਚਕ ਤਾ ਛਬਿ ਢੂੰਢਿ ਲਈ ਕਬਿ ਨੈ ਮਨ ਕੇ ਫੁਨਿ ਭੀਤਰ ਮੈ ਸੇ ॥
ranchak taa chhab dtoondt lee kab nai man ke fun bheetar mai se |The poet has taken a little bit of that beauty in his mind
ਦੇਖਨ ਕਉਤਕਿ ਬਿਆਹਹਿ ਕੋ ਨਿਕਸੇ ਇਹੁ ਕੁੰਕੁਮ ਆਨੰਦ ਜੈਸੇ ॥੨੪॥
dekhan kautak biaaheh ko nikase ihu kunkum aanand jaise |24|The poet briefly mentioning that beauty says that they seemed like the beds of saffron coming out of their abode in order to see this delightful spectacle of the wedding.24.
ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥

ਕੰਸ ਅਉਰ ਬਸੁਦੇਵ ਜੂ ਆਪਸਿ ਮੈ ਮਿਲਿ ਅੰਗ ॥
kans aaur basudev joo aapas mai mil ang |Kansa and Basudeva embraced each other.
ਤਬੈ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਦੇਵਨ ਲਗੇ ਗਾਰੀ ਰੰਗਾ ਰੰਗ ॥੨੫॥
tabai bahur devan lage gaaree rangaa rang |25|Kansa and Vasudev hugged each other to his bosom and then began to shower gifts of various types of colourful satires.25.
ਸੋਰਠਾ ॥

ਦੁੰਦਭਿ ਤਬੈ ਬਜਾਇ ਆਏ ਜੋ ਮਥੁਰਾ ਨਿਕਟਿ ॥
dundabh tabai bajaae aae jo mathuraa nikatt |(Then) sounding the trumpets, the Yanis approached Mathura.
ਤਾ ਛਬਿ ਕੋ ਨਿਰਖਾਇ ਹਰਖ ਭਇਓ ਹਰਿਖਾਇ ਕੈ ॥੨੬॥
taa chhab ko nirakhaae harakh bheio harikhaae kai |26|Beating their drums, they came near Mathura and all the people were pleased to see their elegance.26.
