ਲਯੋ ਬੇੜਿ ਪਬੰ ਕੀਯੋ ਨਾਦ ਉਚੰ ॥
layo berr paban keeyo naad uchan |They besieged the mountain and began to shout at the top of their voice.
ਸੁਣੇ ਗਰਭਣੀਆਨਿ ਕੇ ਗਰਭ ਮੁਚੰ ॥੧੮॥੫੬॥
sune garabhaneeaan ke garabh muchan |18|56|Which when heard could destroy the pregnancy of women.18.56.
ਸੁਣਿਯੋ ਨਾਦ ਸ੍ਰਵਣੰ ਕੀਯੋ ਦੇਵਿ ਕੋਪੰ ॥
suniyo naad sravanan keeyo dev kopan |When the goddess heard voice of the demon-chief, she was greatly enraged.
ਸਜੇ ਚਰਮ ਬਰਮੰ ਧਰੇ ਸੀਸਿ ਟੋਪੰ ॥
saje charam baraman dhare sees ttopan |She bedecked herself with shield and armour and wore the steel-helmet on her head.
ਭਈ ਸਿੰਘ ਸੁਆਰੰ ਕੀਯੋ ਨਾਦ ਉਚੰ ॥
bhee singh suaaran keeyo naad uchan |She mounted the lion and shouted loudly.
ਸੁਨੇ ਦੀਹ ਦਾਨਵਾਨ ਕੇ ਮਾਨ ਮੁਚੰ ॥੧੯॥੫੭॥
sune deeh daanavaan ke maan muchan |19|57|Hearing her shouts, the pride of the demons was destroyed.19.57.
ਮਹਾ ਕੋਪਿ ਦੇਵੀ ਧਸੀ ਸੈਨ ਮਧੰ ॥
mahaa kop devee dhasee sain madhan |In great ire, the goddess penetrated into the demon-army.
ਕਰੇ ਬੀਰ ਬੰਕੇ ਤਹਾ ਅਧੁ ਅਧੰ ॥
kare beer banke tahaa adh adhan |She chopped into halves the great heroes.
ਜਿਸੈ ਧਾਇ ਕੈ ਸੂਲ ਸੈਥੀ ਪ੍ਰਹਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
jisai dhaae kai sool saithee prahaariyo |On whomsoever the goddess struck her blow with her trident and the destructive weapon (Saihathi)
ਤਿਨੇ ਫੇਰਿ ਪਾਣੰ ਨ ਬਾਣੰ ਸੰਭਾਰਿਯੋ ॥੨੦॥੫੮॥
tine fer paanan na baanan sanbhaariyo |20|58|He could not hold again his bow and arrows in his hands.20.58.
ਰਸਾਵਲ ਛੰਦ ॥
rasaaval chhand |RASAAVAL STANZA
ਜਿਸੈ ਬਾਣ ਮਾਰ੍ਯੋ ॥
jisai baan maarayo |Whoever (the goddess) struck with an arrow,
ਤਿਸੈ ਮਾਰਿ ਡਾਰ੍ਯੋ ॥
tisai maar ddaarayo |Whosover was shot with the arrow, he was killed instantly.
ਜਿਤੈ ਸਿੰਘ ਧਾਯੋ ॥
jitai singh dhaayo |Where the lion goes,
ਤਿਤੈ ਸੈਨ ਘਾਯੋ ॥੨੧॥੫੯॥
titai sain ghaayo |21|59|Wherever the lion rushed forward, he destroyed the army.21.59.
ਜਿਤੈ ਘਾਇ ਡਾਲੇ ॥
jitai ghaae ddaale |As many (giants) were killed,
ਤਿਤੈ ਘਾਰਿ ਘਾਲੇ ॥
titai ghaar ghaale |All those who were killed, they were thrown into caves.
ਸਮੁਹਿ ਸਤ੍ਰੁ ਆਯੋ ॥
samuhi satru aayo |No matter how many enemies appeared,
ਸੁ ਜਾਨੇ ਨ ਪਾਯੋ ॥੨੨॥੬੦॥
su jaane na paayo |22|60|The enemies who confronted coul not return alive.22.60.
ਜਿਤੇ ਜੁਝ ਰੁਝੇ ॥
jite jujh rujhe |As many as engage in war,
ਤਿਤੇ ਅੰਤ ਜੁਝੇ ॥
tite ant jujhe |Those who were active in the battlefield, they were all decimated.
ਜਿਨੈ ਸਸਤ੍ਰ ਘਾਲੇ ॥
jinai sasatr ghaale |Even those who were holding weapons,
ਤਿਤੇ ਮਾਰ ਡਾਲੇ ॥੨੩॥੬੧॥
tite maar ddaale |23|61|Those who caught hold of weapons, they were all killed.23.61.
ਤਬੈ ਮਾਤ ਕਾਲੀ ॥
tabai maat kaalee |Then Kali Mata Agni
ਤਪੀ ਤੇਜ ਜੁਵਾਲੀ ॥
tapee tej juvaalee |Then the mother Kali flared up like the flaming fire.
ਜਿਸੈ ਘਾਵ ਡਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
jisai ghaav ddaariyo |whom (he) wounded,
ਸੁ ਸੁਰਗੰ ਸਿਧਾਰਿਯੋ ॥੨੪॥੬੨॥
su suragan sidhaariyo |24|62|To whomsoever she struck, he departed for heaven.24.62.
ਘਰੀ ਅਧ ਮਧੰ ॥
gharee adh madhan |To the whole army (of giants).
ਹਨਿਯੋ ਸੈਨ ਸੁਧੰ ॥
haniyo sain sudhan |The whole army was destroyed within a very short time.
ਹਨਿਯੋ ਧੂਮ੍ਰ ਨੈਣੰ ॥
haniyo dhoomr nainan |Dhumra killed Nain.
ਸੁਨਿਯੋ ਦੇਵ ਗੈਣੰ ॥੨੫॥੬੩॥
suniyo dev gainan |25|63|Dhumar Nain was killed and the gods heard about it in heaven.25.63.

ਭਜੀ ਬਿਰੂਥਨਿ ਦਾਨਵੀ ਗਈ ਭੂਪ ਕੇ ਪਾਸ ॥
bhajee biroothan daanavee gee bhoop ke paas |The demon forces ran towards their king.
ਧੂਮ੍ਰਨੈਣ ਕਾਲੀ ਹਨਿਯੋ ਭਜੀਯੋ ਸੈਨ ਨਿਰਾਸ ॥੨੬॥੬੪॥
dhoomranain kaalee haniyo bhajeeyo sain niraas |26|64|Intimating him that Kali had killed Dhumar Nain and the forces had fled in disappointment.26.64.
ਇਤਿ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਬਚਿਤ੍ਰ ਨਾਟਕੇ ਚੰਡੀ ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰ ਧੂਮ੍ਰਨੈਨ ਬਧਤ ਦੁਤੀਆ ਧਿਆਇ ਸੰਪੂਰਨਮ ਸਤੁ ਸੁਭਮ ਸਤੁ ॥੨॥
eit sree bachitr naattake chanddee charitr dhoomranain badhat duteea dhiaae sanpooranam sat subham sat |2|Here ends the Second Chapter entitled ‘Killing of Dhumar Nain’, which forms part of Chandi Charitra of BACHITTAR NATAK.2.
ਅਥ ਚੰਡ ਮੁੰਡ ਜੁਧ ਕਥਨੰ ॥
ath chandd mundd judh kathanan |Now the battle with Chand and Mund is described:

ਇਹ ਬਿਧ ਦੈਤ ਸੰਘਾਰ ਕਰ ਧਵਲਾ ਚਲੀ ਅਵਾਸ ॥
eih bidh dait sanghaar kar dhavalaa chalee avaas |In this way, killing the demons, the goddess Durga went to her abode.
ਜੋ ਯਹ ਕਥਾ ਪੜੈ ਸੁਨੈ ਰਿਧਿ ਸਿਧਿ ਗ੍ਰਿਹਿ ਤਾਸ ॥੧॥੬੫॥
jo yah kathaa parrai sunai ridh sidh grihi taas |1|65|He who read or listens to this discourse, he will attain in his house wealth and miraculous powers.1.65.
ਚੌਪਈ ॥

ਧੂਮ੍ਰਨੈਣ ਜਬ ਸੁਣੇ ਸੰਘਾਰੇ ॥
dhoomranain jab sune sanghaare |When it was learnt that Dhumar Nain had been killed,
ਚੰਡ ਮੁੰਡ ਤਬ ਭੂਪਿ ਹਕਾਰੇ ॥
chandd mundd tab bhoop hakaare |The demon-king then called Chand and Mund.
ਬਹੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਕਰ ਪਠਏ ਸਨਮਾਨਾ ॥
bahu bidh kar patthe sanamaanaa |They were sent after bestowing many honours on them.
ਹੈ ਗੈ ਪਤਿ ਦੀਏ ਰਥ ਨਾਨਾ ॥੨॥੬੬॥
hai gai pat dee rath naanaa |2|66|And also many gifts like horses, elephants and chariots.2.66.
ਪ੍ਰਿਥਮ ਨਿਰਖਿ ਦੇਬੀਅਹਿ ਜੇ ਆਏ ॥
pritham nirakh debeeeh je aae |Those who had earlier seen the goddess
ਤੇ ਧਵਲਾ ਗਿਰਿ ਓਰਿ ਪਠਾਏ ॥
te dhavalaa gir or patthaae |They were sent towards kailash mountain (as spies).
ਤਿਨ ਕੀ ਤਨਿਕ ਭਨਕ ਸੁਨਿ ਪਾਈ ॥
tin kee tanik bhanak sun paaee |When the goddess heard some rumour about them
ਨਿਸਿਰੀ ਸਸਤ੍ਰ ਅਸਤ੍ਰ ਲੈ ਮਾਈ ॥੩॥੬੭॥
nisiree sasatr asatr lai maaee |3|67|She then promptly came down with her weapons and armour.3.67.
