ਹੋ ਧ੍ਰਿਗ ਧ੍ਰਿਗ ਤਾ ਕੌ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਲੋਕ ਬਖਾਨਈ ॥੪॥
ho dhrig dhrig taa kau sabh hee lok bakhaanee |4|So he is hated by all people. 4.
ਸੰਗ ਦਾਸੀ ਕੈ ਦਾਸ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਮੁਸਕਾਇ ਕੈ ॥
sang daasee kai daas kahiyo musakaae kai |Das laughed and said to the maid
ਸੰਗ ਹਮਾਰੇ ਚਲੋ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਉਪਜਾਇ ਕੈ ॥
sang hamaare chalo preet upajaae kai |May you develop love and come with me.
ਕਾਮ ਕੇਲ ਕਰਿ ਜੀਹੈਂ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਲੀਜਿਯੈ ॥
kaam kel kar jeehain kachhoo na leejiyai |We don't need anything, we will live only by performing sexual activities.
ਹੋ ਗਾਨ ਕਲਾ ਜੂ ਬਚਨ ਹਮਾਰੋ ਕੀਜਿਯੈ ॥੫॥
ho gaan kalaa joo bachan hamaaro keejiyai |5|O singing art! Take my word. 5.
ਉਠ ਦਾਸੀ ਸੰਗ ਚਲੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਉਪਜਾਇ ਕੈ ॥
autth daasee sang chalee preet upajaae kai |The maid who fell in love got up (with him) and went away
ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਕੀ ਓਰ ਨਿਹਾਰਿ ਨ ਰਹੀ ਲਜਾਇ ਕੈ ॥
nrip kee or nihaar na rahee lajaae kai |And Laja di Mari did not even look at the king.
ਜੋ ਦਾਸੀ ਸੌ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਪੁਰਖ ਉਪਜਾਵਈ ॥
jo daasee sau prem purakh upajaavee |A man who makes love to a maidservant,
ਹੋ ਅੰਤ ਸ੍ਵਾਨ ਕੀ ਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਮਰੈ ਪਛੁਤਾਵਈ ॥੬॥
ho ant svaan kee mrit marai pachhutaavee |6|He finally repents and dies the death of a dog. 6.
ਚਾਰਿ ਪਹਰ ਮੈ ਚਾਰਿ ਕੋਸ ਮਾਰਗ ਚਲਿਯੋ ॥
chaar pahar mai chaar kos maarag chaliyo |(They) climbed four mountains in four watches.
ਜੋ ਕੰਦ੍ਰਪ ਕੋ ਦ੍ਰਪ ਹੁਤੋ ਸਭੁ ਹੀ ਦਲਿਯੋ ॥
jo kandrap ko drap huto sabh hee daliyo |He who was proud of Kama, (him) gave support to all.
ਚਹੂੰ ਓਰ ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਤੇ ਹੀ ਪੁਰ ਆਵਹੀ ॥
chahoon or bhram bhram te hee pur aavahee |They returned to (their) town after wandering around in four directions.
ਹੋ ਗਾਨ ਕਲਾ ਤਿਲ ਚੁਗਨ ਨ ਪੈਡੋ ਪਾਵਹੀ ॥੭॥
ho gaan kalaa til chugan na paiddo paavahee |7|Gan Kala and Til Chugan could not find a way.7.
ਅਧਿਕ ਸ੍ਰਮਿਤ ਤੇ ਭਏ ਹਾਰਿ ਗਿਰਿ ਕੈ ਪਰੈ ॥
adhik sramit te bhe haar gir kai parai |Being very tired, they fell down in defeat,
ਜਨੁਕ ਘਾਵ ਬਿਨੁ ਕੀਏ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਤੇ ਮਰੈ ॥
januk ghaav bin kee aap hee te marai |As if they had died without being wounded.
ਅਧਿਕ ਛੁਧਾ ਜਬ ਲਗੀ ਦੁਹੁਨਿ ਕੌ ਆਇ ਕੈ ॥
adhik chhudhaa jab lagee duhun kau aae kai |When both of them felt very hungry
ਹੋ ਤਬ ਦਾਸੀ ਸੌ ਦਾਸ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਦੁਖ ਪਾਇ ਕੈ ॥੮॥
ho tab daasee sau daas kahiyo dukh paae kai |8|So the servant said to the maid in sorrow. 8.
ਗਾਨ ਕਲਾ ਤੁਮ ਪਰੋ ਸੁ ਬੁਰਿ ਅਪੁਨੀ ਕਰੋ ॥
gaan kalaa tum paro su bur apunee karo |O singing art! You cross your vagina
ਖਰਿ ਕੋ ਟੁਕਰਾ ਹਾਥ ਹਮਾਰੇ ਪੈ ਧਰੋ ॥
khar ko ttukaraa haath hamaare pai dharo |And put (to eat) a piece of khali on my hand.
ਦਾਸ ਜਬੇ ਖੈਬੈ ਕੌ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਪਾਇਯੋ ॥
daas jabe khaibai kau kachhoo na paaeiyo |When the slave did not get anything to eat
ਹੋ ਅਧਿਕ ਕੋਪ ਤਬ ਚਿਤ ਕੇ ਬਿਖੈ ਬਢਾਇਯੋ ॥੯॥
ho adhik kop tab chit ke bikhai badtaaeiyo |9|So he became very angry in Chit. 9.
ਮਾਰ ਕੂਟਿ ਦਾਸੀ ਕੋ ਦਯੋ ਬਹਾਇ ਕੈ ॥
maar koott daasee ko dayo bahaae kai |(He) beat and threw the maid (into the river).
ਆਪਨ ਗਯੋ ਫਲ ਚੁਗਨ ਮਹਾ ਬਨ ਜਾਇ ਕੈ ॥
aapan gayo fal chugan mahaa ban jaae kai |And he went to pick the fruit in the big bin.
ਬੇਰ ਭਖਤ ਤਾ ਕੌ ਹਰਿ ਜਛ ਨਿਹਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
ber bhakhat taa kau har jachh nihaariyo |The lion ('Harijch') saw him eating
ਹੋ ਤਿਲ ਚੁਗਨਾ ਕੋ ਪਕਰ ਭਛ ਕਰਿ ਡਾਰਿਯੋ ॥੧੦॥
ho til chuganaa ko pakar bhachh kar ddaariyo |10|And caught the sesame seed and ate it. 10.
ਬਹਤ ਬਹਤ ਦਾਸੀ ਸਰਿਤਾ ਮਹਿ ਤਹਿ ਗਈ ॥
bahat bahat daasee saritaa meh teh gee |The maid reached there wading in the river
ਜਹਾ ਆਇ ਸ੍ਵਾਰੀ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਕੀ ਨਿਕਸਤ ਭਈ ॥
jahaa aae svaaree nrip kee nikasat bhee |Where the king's ride was leaving.
ਨਿਰਖਿ ਪ੍ਰਿਯਾ ਰਾਜਾ ਤਿਹ ਲਿਯੋ ਨਿਕਾਰਿ ਕੈ ॥
nirakh priyaa raajaa tih liyo nikaar kai |Seeing Priya, the king took her away.
ਹੋ ਭੇਦ ਅਭੇਦ ਨ ਮੂਰਖ ਸਕਿਯੋ ਬਿਚਾਰਿ ਕੈ ॥੧੧॥
ho bhed abhed na moorakh sakiyo bichaar kai |11|That fool could not understand some secrets. 11.
ਚੌਪਈ ॥

ਦਾਸੀ ਕਾਢ ਨਦੀ ਤੇ ਲਿਯੋ ॥
daasee kaadt nadee te liyo |The king took the maid out of the river
ਬੈਠ ਤੀਰ ਐਸੇ ਬਚ ਕਿਯੋ ॥
baitth teer aaise bach kiyo |And sat on the bank and talked like this.
ਕਿਹ ਨਿਮਿਤ ਕੈ ਹ੍ਯਾਂ ਤੈ ਆਈ ॥
kih nimit kai hayaan tai aaee |(The king asked) Why have you come here?
ਸੋ ਕਹਿਯੈ ਮੁਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਜਤਾਈ ॥੧੨॥
so kahiyai muhi pragatt jataaee |12|Tell me this (all the details) clearly. 12.
ਜਬ ਤੁਮ ਅਖੇਟਕਹਿ ਸਿਧਾਏ ॥
jab tum akhettakeh sidhaae |(The maid said, O king!) When you went to play hunting hundred
ਬਹੁ ਚਿਰ ਭਯੋ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਕੌ ਨਹਿ ਆਏ ॥
bahu chir bhayo grih kau neh aae |And did not return home for a long time.
ਤੁਮ ਬਿਨੁ ਮੈ ਅਤਿਹਿ ਅਕੁਲਾਈ ॥
tum bin mai atihi akulaaee |So without you I was very lost.
ਤਾ ਤੇ ਬਨ ਗਹਿਰੇ ਮੋ ਆਈ ॥੧੩॥
taa te ban gahire mo aaee |13|So it came in a thick bun. 13.
ਜਬ ਮੈ ਅਧਿਕ ਤ੍ਰਿਖਾਤੁਰ ਭਈ ॥
jab mai adhik trikhaatur bhee |When I became sick with thirst
ਪਾਨਿ ਪਿਵਨ ਸਰਿਤਾ ਢਿਗ ਗਈ ॥
paan pivan saritaa dtig gee |So she went to the bank of the river to drink water.
ਫਿਸਲਿਯੋ ਪਾਵ ਨਦੀ ਮੌ ਪਰੀ ॥
fisaliyo paav nadee mau paree |The foot slipped (and I) fell into the river.
ਅਧਿਕ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰ ਤੁਮਹਿ ਨਿਕਰੀ ॥੧੪॥
adhik kripaa kar tumeh nikaree |14|You very kindly took it out of the river. 14.
ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥

ਨੀਚ ਸੰਗ ਕੀਜੈ ਨਹੀ ਸੁਨਹੋ ਮੀਤ ਕੁਮਾਰ ॥
neech sang keejai nahee sunaho meet kumaar |Hey friend Rajkumar! Listen, one should never associate with the lowly.
ਭੇਡ ਪੂਛਿ ਭਾਦੌ ਨਦੀ ਕੋ ਗਹਿ ਉਤਰਿਯੋ ਪਾਰ ॥੧੫॥
bhedd poochh bhaadau nadee ko geh utariyo paar |15|(Because) can one cross a (forged) river in a boat holding a sheep's tail? 15
ਪਾਨੀ ਉਦਰ ਤਾ ਕੌ ਭਰਿਯੋ ਦਾਸ ਨਦੀ ਗਯੋ ਡਾਰਿ ॥
paanee udar taa kau bhariyo daas nadee gayo ddaar |The slave (that slave) fell into the river and his stomach was filled with water.
ਬਿਨੁ ਪ੍ਰਾਨਨ ਅਬਲਾ ਭਈ ਸਕਿਯੋ ਨ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਬੀਚਾਰਿ ॥੧੬॥
bin praanan abalaa bhee sakiyo na nrip beechaar |16|(By doing which) the woman died, but the king could not consider it. 16.
ਫਲ ਭਛਤ ਜਛਨ ਗਹਿਯੋ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਸ ਕੋ ਕੀਨ ॥
fal bhachhat jachhan gahiyo daas naas ko keen |The fruit-eating slave was caught and destroyed by a lion ('Jachhan').
