ਚਿਤ ਕੋ ਭਰਮੁ ਸਕਲ ਹੀ ਖੋਯੋ ॥
chit ko bharam sakal hee khoyo |And ended all the illusion of Chit.
ਕਾਮਾਤੁਰ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਹਾਥ ਚਲਾਯੋ ॥
kaamaatur hvai haath chalaayo |(When) being tormented by lust, he stretched out his hand,
ਕਾਢਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਨ ਨਾਰਿ ਤਿਨ ਘਾਯੋ ॥੯॥
kaadt kripaan naar tin ghaayo |9|Then the woman took out the kirpan and killed him. 9.
ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਕਹ ਮਾਰਿ ਵੈਸਹੀ ਡਾਰੀ ॥
nrip kah maar vaisahee ddaaree |The king was killed and thrown away in the same way
ਤਾ ਪਰ ਤ੍ਰਯੋ ਹੀ ਬਸਤ੍ਰ ਸਵਾਰੀ ॥
taa par trayo hee basatr savaaree |And put armor on him in the same way.
ਆਪੁ ਜਾਇ ਨਿਜੁ ਪਤਿ ਤਨ ਜਲੀ ॥
aap jaae nij pat tan jalee |Then she went and burned with her husband.
ਨਿਰਖਹੁ ਚਤੁਰਿ ਨਾਰਿ ਕੀ ਭਲੀ ॥੧੦॥
nirakhahu chatur naar kee bhalee |10|Look, that clever woman did a good job. 10.

ਬੈਰ ਲਿਯਾ ਨਿਜੁ ਨਾਹਿ ਕੋ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਕਹ ਦਿਯਾ ਸੰਘਾਰਿ ॥
bair liyaa nij naeh ko nrip kah diyaa sanghaar |Avenged her husband and killed the king.
ਬਹੁਰਿ ਜਰੀ ਨਿਜੁ ਨਾਥ ਸੌ ਲੋਗਨ ਚਰਿਤ ਦਿਖਾਰਿ ॥੧੧॥
bahur jaree nij naath sau logan charit dikhaar |11|Then she burned with her husband and showed her character to the people. 11.

sunahu bhoop ik kathaa naveenee |O Rajan! Listen to a new story.
ਕਿਨਹੂੰ ਲਖੀ ਨ ਆਗੇ ਚੀਨੀ ॥
kinahoon lakhee na aage cheenee |No one has seen this (before) nor thought ahead.
ਰਾਧਾ ਨਗਰ ਪੂਰਬ ਮੈ ਜਹਾ ॥
raadhaa nagar poorab mai jahaa |Where Radha Nagar is in the east,
ਰੁਕਮ ਸੈਨ ਰਾਜਾ ਇਕ ਤਹਾ ॥੧॥
rukam sain raajaa ik tahaa |1|There was a king named Rukum Sen. 1.
ਸ੍ਰੀ ਦਲਗਾਹ ਮਤੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਤਾ ਕੀ ॥
sree dalagaah matee triy taa kee |His wife's name was Dalgah Mati
ਨਰੀ ਨਾਗਨੀ ਤੁਲਿ ਨ ਵਾ ਕੀ ॥
naree naaganee tul na vaa kee |Nari and Nagni (no one) equaled him.
ਸੁਤਾ ਸਿੰਧੁਲਾ ਦੇਇ ਭਨਿਜੈ ॥
sutaa sindhulaa dee bhanijai |He was said to have a daughter named Sindhula Dei
ਪਰੀ ਪਦਮਨੀ ਪ੍ਰਕ੍ਰਿਤ ਕਹਿਜੈ ॥੨॥
paree padamanee prakrit kahijai |2|Which was believed to be the meeting place of Pari or Padmani. 2.
ਤਹਿਕ ਭਵਾਨੀ ਭਵਨ ਭਨੀਜੈ ॥
tahik bhavaanee bhavan bhaneejai |There was said to be a house (temple) of Bhavani.
ਕੋ ਦੂਸਰ ਪਟਤਰ ਤਿਹਿ ਦੀਜੈ ॥
ko doosar pattatar tihi deejai |How can he be compared to anyone else?
ਦੇਸ ਦੇਸ ਏਸ੍ਵਰ ਤਹ ਆਵਤ ॥
des des esvar tah aavat |The kings of the country used to come there
ਆਨਿ ਗਵਰਿ ਕਹ ਸੀਸ ਝੁਕਾਵਤ ॥੩॥
aan gavar kah sees jhukaavat |3|And used to come and bathe Gauri's head. 3.
ਭੁਜਬਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਤਹਾ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਆਯੋ ॥
bhujabal singh tahaa nrip aayo |A king named Bhujbal Singh came there
ਭੋਜ ਰਾਜ ਤੇ ਜਨੁਕ ਸਵਾਯੋ ॥
bhoj raaj te januk savaayo |One who is more sovereign than Bhoj Raj.
ਨਿਰਖਿ ਸਿੰਧੁਲਾ ਦੇ ਦੁਤਿ ਤਾ ਕੀ ॥
nirakh sindhulaa de dut taa kee |Seeing her beauty, Sindhula dei
ਮਨ ਬਚ ਕ੍ਰਮ ਚੇਰੀ ਭੀ ਵਾ ਕੀ ॥੪॥
man bach kram cheree bhee vaa kee |4|She became a slave by doing her mind, words and deeds. 4.
ਆਗੇ ਹੁਤੀ ਔਰ ਸੋ ਪਰਨੀ ॥
aage hutee aauar so paranee |She was previously married to someone else.
ਅਬ ਇਹ ਸਾਥ ਜਾਤ ਨਹਿ ਬਰਨੀ ॥
ab ih saath jaat neh baranee |Now she could not be married to him (the king).
ਚਿਤ ਮਹਿ ਅਧਿਕ ਬਿਚਾਰ ਬਿਚਾਰਤ ॥
chit meh adhik bichaar bichaarat |(He) having thought much in the mind
ਸਹਚਰਿ ਪਠੀ ਤਹਾ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਆਰਤਿ ॥੫॥
sahachar patthee tahaa hvai aarat |5|And being very sad, she sent a friend to him. 5.
ਸੁਨੁ ਰਾਜਾ ਤੈ ਪਰ ਮੈ ਅਟਕੀ ॥
sun raajaa tai par mai attakee |(and said) O king! Listen, I'm in love with you
ਭੂਲਿ ਗਈ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਸੁਧਿ ਘਟ ਕੀ ॥
bhool gee sabh hee sudh ghatt kee |And I have forgotten all the pure wisdom of the body.
ਜੌ ਮੁਹਿ ਅਬ ਤੁਮ ਦਰਸ ਦਿਖਾਵੋ ॥
jau muhi ab tum daras dikhaavo |If you make me see you (it will seem so)
ਅਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਡਾਰਿ ਜਨੁ ਮ੍ਰਿਤਕ ਜਿਯਾਵੋ ॥੬॥
amrit ddaar jan mritak jiyaavo |6|As if by sprinkling nectar the dead person has been brought back to life. 6.
ਸੁਨਿ ਸਖੀ ਬਚਨ ਕੁਅਰਿ ਕੇ ਆਤੁਰ ॥
sun sakhee bachan kuar ke aatur |Sakhi heard the sad words of Kumari
ਜਾਤ ਭਈ ਰਾਜਾ ਤਹਿ ਸਾਤਿਰ ॥
jaat bhee raajaa teh saatir |Hastily ('Satire') went to the king.
ਜੁ ਕਛੁ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਕਹਿ ਤਾਹਿ ਸੁਨਾਯੋ ॥
ju kachh kahiyo keh taeh sunaayo |What (the maiden) had said, (she) narrated to him.
ਸੁਨਿ ਬਚ ਭੂਪ ਅਧਿਕ ਲਲਚਾਯੋ ॥੭॥
sun bach bhoop adhik lalachaayo |7|Hearing the words (of that sakhi) the king was very tempted. 7.
ਚਿੰਤ ਕਰੀ ਕਿਹ ਬਿਧਿ ਤਹ ਜੈਯੈ ॥
chint karee kih bidh tah jaiyai |(He thought in his mind) how to go there
ਕਿਹ ਛਲ ਸੌ ਤਾ ਕੌ ਹਰਿ ਲਯੈਯੈ ॥
kih chhal sau taa kau har layaiyai |And with what trick to bring him out.
ਸੁਨਿ ਬਚ ਭੂਖਿ ਭੂਪ ਕੀ ਭਾਗੀ ॥
sun bach bhookh bhoop kee bhaagee |Hearing the words (of Sakhi), the king became hungry
ਤਬ ਤੇ ਅਧਿਕ ਚਟਪਟੀ ਲਾਗੀ ॥੮॥
tab te adhik chattapattee laagee |8|And since then she started to be very hasty.8.
ਭੂਪ ਸਖੀ ਤਬ ਤਹੀ ਪਠਾਈ ॥
bhoop sakhee tab tahee patthaaee |Then the king (sent) Sakhi there.
ਇਸਥਿਤ ਹੁਤੀ ਜਹਾ ਸੁਖਦਾਈ ॥
eisathit hutee jahaa sukhadaaee |Where that comforting beloved was sitting.
ਕਹਾ ਚਰਿਤ ਕਛੁ ਤੁਮਹਿ ਬਨਾਵਹੁ ॥
kahaa charit kachh tumeh banaavahu |Sent saying that a character game
ਜਿਹ ਛਲ ਸਦਨ ਹਮਾਰੇ ਆਵਹੁ ॥੯॥
jih chhal sadan hamaare aavahu |9|By which trick (you) come to my house. 9.
ਏਕ ਢੋਲ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਕੋਰ ਮੰਗਾਵਾ ॥
ek dtol triy kor mangaavaa |(Hearing this) the lady called for an unlogged ('core') drum.
ਬੈਠਿ ਚਰਮ ਸੋ ਬੀਚ ਮੜਾਵਾ ॥
baitth charam so beech marraavaa |He sat in it and covered it with leather.
ਇਸਥਿਤ ਆਪੁ ਤਵਨ ਮਹਿ ਭਈ ॥
eisathit aap tavan meh bhee |Self became situated in it.
ਇਹ ਛਲ ਧਾਮ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਕੇ ਗਈ ॥੧੦॥
eih chhal dhaam mitr ke gee |10|With this trick, she reached her friend's house. 10.
ਇਹ ਛਲ ਢੋਲ ਬਜਾਵਤ ਚਲੀ ॥
eih chhal dtol bajaavat chalee |Beating the drum with this trick, she left.
ਮਾਤ ਪਿਤਾ ਸਭ ਨਿਰਖਤ ਅਲੀ ॥
maat pitaa sabh nirakhat alee |Parents and friends watched.
ਭੇਵ ਅਭੇਵ ਨ ਕਿਨਹੂੰ ਪਾਯੋ ॥
bhev abhev na kinahoon paayo |No one understood the difference.
ਸਭ ਹੀ ਇਹ ਬਿਧਿ ਮੂੰਡ ਮੁੰਡਾਯੋ ॥੧੧॥
sabh hee ih bidh moondd munddaayo |11|All were cheated like this. 11.

ਇਹ ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰ ਤਨ ਚੰਚਲਾ ਗਈ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਕੇ ਧਾਮ ॥

ਢੋਲ ਢਮਾਕੋ ਦੈ ਗਈ ਕਿਨਹੂੰ ਲਖਾ ਨ ਬਾਮ ॥੧੨॥
dtol dtamaako dai gee kinahoon lakhaa na baam |12|She beat the drum and left, no one could see (that) woman. 12.

ਭੁਜੰਗ ਧੁਜਾ ਇਕ ਭੂਪ ਕਹਾਵਤ ॥
bhujang dhujaa ik bhoop kahaavat |This king was known as Bhujang Dhuja.
ਅਮਿਤ ਦਰਬ ਬਿਪਨ ਪਹ ਦ੍ਰਯਾਵਤ ॥੧॥
amit darab bipan pah drayaavat |1|He used to donate a lot of money to Brahmins. 1.
ਅਜਿਤਾਵਤੀ ਨਗਰ ਤਿਹ ਰਾਜਤ ॥
ajitaavatee nagar tih raajat |He lived in Ajitavati Nagri
ਅਮਰਾਵਤੀ ਨਿਰਖਿ ਜਿਹ ਲਾਜਤ ॥
amaraavatee nirakh jih laajat |Seeing which even Indarpuri was ashamed.
ਬਿਮਲ ਮਤੀ ਤਾ ਕੇ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਰਾਨੀ ॥
bimal matee taa ke grih raanee |In his house there was a queen named Bimal Mati.
ਸੁਤਾ ਬਿਲਾਸ ਦੇਇ ਪਹਿਚਾਨੀ ॥੨॥
sutaa bilaas dee pahichaanee |2|His daughter Bilas Dei. 2.
ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਜੰਤ੍ਰ ਤਿਨ ਪੜੇ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥
mantr jantr tin parre apaaraa |He had studied Mantra Jantra a lot.
ਜਿਹ ਸਮ ਪੜੇ ਨ ਦੂਸਰਿ ਨਾਰਾ ॥
jih sam parre na doosar naaraa |No other woman had studied like her.
ਗੰਗ ਸਮੁਦ੍ਰਹਿ ਜਹਾ ਮਿਲਾਨੀ ॥
gang samudreh jahaa milaanee |Where the Ganga meets the sea,
