ਨਰਕਿ ਨਿਵਾਰਨ ਅਘ ਹਰਨ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਸਿੰਧ ਕੌ ਭਾਖੁ ॥
narak nivaaran agh haran kripaa sindh kau bhaakh |Narak Nivaran', 'Agh Haran' and 'Kripa Sindh' and then 'Anuj' (Little Brother)
ਅਨੁਜ ਤਨੁਜ ਕਹਿ ਸਸਤ੍ਰ ਕਹੁ ਨਾਮ ਬਾਨ ਲਖਿ ਰਾਖੁ ॥੧੨੨॥
anuj tanuj keh sasatr kahu naam baan lakh raakh |122|Uttering the words “Narak-Nivaaran, Agh-haran and Kripa-Sindhu” and then adding the words “Anuj, Tanuj and Shastar” in serial order, the names of baan are obtained.122.
ਬਿਘਨ ਹਰਨ ਬਿਆਧਨਿ ਦਰਨ ਪ੍ਰਿਥਮਯ ਸਬਦ ਬਖਾਨ ॥
bighan haran biaadhan daran prithamay sabad bakhaan |Say the words 'bighan haran' and 'byadhani daran' (repelling diseases) first.
ਅਨੁਜ ਤਨੁਜ ਕਹਿ ਸਸਤ੍ਰ ਕਹੁ ਨਾਮ ਬਾਨ ਜੀਅ ਜਾਨ ॥੧੨੩॥
anuj tanuj keh sasatr kahu naam baan jeea jaan |123|Uttering the words “Vighan-Haran and Vyadhi-dalan” and then adding the words “Anuj, Tanuj and Shastar” in serial order, the names of Baan are known.123.
ਮਕਰ ਕੇਤੁ ਕਹਿ ਮਕਰ ਧੁਜ ਪੁਨਿ ਆਯੁਧ ਪਦੁ ਦੇਹੁ ॥
makar ket keh makar dhuj pun aayudh pad dehu |Say Makar Ketu' (or) 'Makar Dhuj' and then add the term 'Ayudh'.
ਸਭੈ ਨਾਮ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਬਾਨ ਕੇ ਚੀਨ ਚਤੁਰ ਚਿਤਿ ਲੇਹੁ ॥੧੨੪॥
sabhai naam sree baan ke cheen chatur chit lehu |124|Uttering the words “Makarketu and Makardhvaj” and then adding the word “Aayudh”, the wise people know all the names of Baan.124.
ਪੁਹਪ ਧਨੁਖ ਅਲਿ ਪਨਚ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਿਥਮੈ ਨਾਮ ਬਖਾਨ ॥
puhap dhanukh al panach ke prithamai naam bakhaan |Say Puhap Dhanukh' (Flower-bowed, Kamadeva) 'Ali Panach' (Brow-bowed, Kamadeva) name first.
ਆਯੁਧ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਬਖਾਨੀਐ ਜਾਨੁ ਨਾਮ ਸਭ ਬਾਨ ॥੧੨੫॥
aayudh bahur bakhaaneeai jaan naam sabh baan |125|Uttering the words “Pushpdhanva, Bhramar and Pinaak” and then adding the word “Aayudh”, all the names of Baan are known.125.
ਸੰਬਰਾਰਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਪੁਰਾਰਿ ਅਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਿਥਮੈ ਸਬਦ ਬਖਾਨ ॥
sanbaraar tripuraar ar prithamai sabad bakhaan |Sambarari' (enemy of the demon Sambar, Kamadeva) Say the words 'triprari ari' (enemy of Shiva, Kamadeva) first.
ਆਯੁਧ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਬਖਾਨੀਐ ਨਾਮ ਬਾਨ ਕੇ ਮਾਨ ॥੧੨੬॥
aayudh bahur bakhaaneeai naam baan ke maan |126|Uttering the words “Shambrai and Tripurari” and then adding the word “Aayudh”, the names of Baan are known.126.
ਸ੍ਰੀ ਸਾਰੰਗਗ੍ਰਾ ਬੀਰਹਾ ਬਲਹਾ ਬਾਨ ਬਖਾਨ ॥
sree saarangagraa beerahaa balahaa baan bakhaan |Saranggra' (arrow from the bow) 'Birha' (killer of the warrior) 'Balha' (destroyer of force) Ban,
ਬਿਸਿਖ ਬਿਸੀ ਬਾਸੀ ਧਰਨ ਬਾਨ ਨਾਮ ਜੀਅ ਜਾਨ ॥੧੨੭॥
bisikh bisee baasee dharan baan naam jeea jaan |127|Shri Saarang, Beerhaa, Balhaa, Bisikh, Bisi etc. are known as the names of Baan.127.
ਬਿਖ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਿਥਮੇ ਨਾਮ ਕਹਿ ਧਰ ਪਦ ਬਹੁਰੌ ਦੇਹੁ ॥
bikh ke prithame naam keh dhar pad bahurau dehu |Take the name before 'bikh', then add the term 'dhar'.
ਨਾਮ ਸਕਲ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਬਾਨ ਕੇ ਚਤੁਰ ਚਿਤਿ ਲਖਿ ਲੇਹੁ ॥੧੨੮॥
naam sakal sree baan ke chatur chit lakh lehu |128|Uttering primarily the names of “Vish” and then adding the word “Dhar”, all the names of Baan are known.128.
ਸਕਲ ਸਿੰਧੁ ਕੇ ਨਾਮ ਲੈ ਤਨੈ ਸਬਦ ਕੌ ਦੇਹੁ ॥
sakal sindh ke naam lai tanai sabad kau dehu |Take all the names of Samudra and then add the word 'Tanai' (tanya, son, Vish, son of Samudra).
ਧਰ ਪਦ ਬਹੁਰ ਬਖਾਨੀਐ ਨਾਮ ਬਾਨ ਲਖਿ ਲੇਹੁ ॥੧੨੯॥
dhar pad bahur bakhaaneeai naam baan lakh lehu |129|Naming all the oceans and then adding the word “Tanai” and afterwards the word “Dhar”, the names of Baan are understood.129.
ਉਦਧਿ ਸਿੰਧੁ ਸਰਿਤੇਸ ਜਾ ਕਹਿ ਧਰ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਬਖਾਨ ॥
audadh sindh sarites jaa keh dhar bahur bakhaan |After saying 'Uddhi' (Ocean), 'Sindhu', 'Sarites' (Lord of Rivers, Ocean) etc. recite the words 'Ja' and 'Dhar'.
ਬੰਸੀਧਰ ਕੇ ਨਾਮ ਸਭ ਲੀਜਹੁ ਚਤੁਰ ਪਛਾਨ ॥੧੩੦॥
banseedhar ke naam sabh leejahu chatur pachhaan |130|Uttering the words “Udadhi, Sindhu, Sarteshwar” and then adding the word “Dhar”, the wise people know the names of Baan (Vanshidhar).130.
ਬਧ ਨਾਸਨੀ ਬੀਰਹਾ ਬਿਖ ਬਿਸਖਾਗ੍ਰਜ ਬਖਾਨ ॥
badh naasanee beerahaa bikh bisakhaagraj bakhaan |Pronounce the (words) badh, nasni, birha, bikh, biskhagrja (vish before the arrow).
ਧਰ ਪਦ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਬਖਾਨੀਐ ਨਾਮ ਬਾਨ ਕੇ ਮਾਨ ॥੧੩੧॥
dhar pad bahur bakhaaneeai naam baan ke maan |131|Uttering the words “Baddh, Naashinin, Beerhaa, Vish, Biskhagraj” and then adding the word “Dhar”, the names of Baan are known.131.
ਸਭ ਮਨੁਖਨ ਕੇ ਨਾਮ ਕਹਿ ਹਾ ਪਦ ਬਹੁਰੋ ਦੇਹੁ ॥
sabh manukhan ke naam keh haa pad bahuro dehu |Saying the names of all human beings, then add (to them) the word 'ha'.
ਸਕਲ ਨਾਮ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਬਾਨ ਕੇ ਚਤੁਰ ਚਿਤਿ ਲਖਿ ਲੇਹੁ ॥੧੩੨॥
sakal naam sree baan ke chatur chit lakh lehu |132|Uttering the names of all men and then adding the word “Ha”, the wise people know all the names of Baan.132.
ਕਾਲਕੂਟ ਕਹਿ ਕਸਟਕਰਿ ਸਿਵਕੰਠੀ ਅਹਿ ਉਚਾਰਿ ॥
kaalakoott keh kasattakar sivakantthee eh uchaar |With Kalkoot, Kastakari, Sivakanthi and Ahi (snake).
ਧਰ ਪਦ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਬਖਾਨੀਐ ਜਾਨੁ ਬਾਨ ਨਿਰਧਾਰ ॥੧੩੩॥
dhar pad bahur bakhaaneeai jaan baan niradhaar |133|Speaking the word “Kaalkoot”, then uttering the words “Kashtkari, Shivkanthi and Ahi” and then adding the word “Dhar”, the names of Baan are known.133.
ਸਿਵ ਕੇ ਨਾਮ ਉਚਾਰਿ ਕੈ ਕੰਠੀ ਪਦ ਪੁਨਿ ਦੇਹੁ ॥
siv ke naam uchaar kai kantthee pad pun dehu |(First) pronounce the name of Shiva and then add the words 'kanthi' and 'dhar'.
ਪੁਨਿ ਧਰ ਸਬਦ ਬਖਾਨੀਐ ਨਾਮ ਬਾਨ ਲਖਿ ਲੇਹੁ ॥੧੩੪॥
pun dhar sabad bakhaaneeai naam baan lakh lehu |134|After saying the word “Shiv”, then adding the words Kanthi and Dhar in serial ordeer, the names of Baan can be described.134.
ਬਿਆਧਿ ਬਿਖੀ ਮੁਖਿ ਪ੍ਰਿਥਮ ਕਹਿ ਧਰ ਪਦ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਬਖਾਨ ॥
biaadh bikhee mukh pritham keh dhar pad bahur bakhaan |By saying 'Biyadhi', 'Bikhi Mukh' first, then recite the word 'Dhar'.
ਨਾਮ ਸਭੈ ਏ ਬਾਨ ਕੇ ਲੀਜੋ ਚਤੁਰ ਪਛਾਨ ॥੧੩੫॥
naam sabhai e baan ke leejo chatur pachhaan |135|After saying the words “Vyaadhi and Vidhimukh” in the beginning and then adding “Dhar”, the wise people recognize all the names of Baan.135.
ਖਪਰਾ ਨਾਲਿਕ ਧਨੁਖ ਸੁਤ ਲੈ ਸੁ ਕਮਾਨਜ ਨਾਉ ॥
khaparaa naalik dhanukh sut lai su kamaanaj naau |Khapra, Nalik (grooved) Dhanukh Sut, Kamanaj,
ਸਕਰ ਕਾਨ ਨਰਾਚ ਭਨਿ ਧਰ ਸਭ ਸਰ ਕੇ ਗਾਉ ॥੧੩੬॥
sakar kaan naraach bhan dhar sabh sar ke gaau |136|Making the bow of the words “Khapra (Khaprail), Nalak, Shanush, Satya etc. and pulling upto the ear, with the hands, those which are discharged, they are the weapons of the brotherhood of Baan.136.
ਬਾਰਿਦ ਜਿਉ ਬਰਸਤ ਰਹੈ ਜਸੁ ਅੰਕੁਰ ਜਿਹ ਹੋਇ ॥
baarid jiau barasat rahai jas ankur jih hoe |That which rains like the cloud and whose creation is “Yash” though it is not the cloud,
ਬਾਰਿਦ ਸੋ ਬਾਰਿਦ ਨਹੀ ਤਾਹਿ ਬਤਾਵਹੁ ਕੋਇ ॥੧੩੭॥
baarid so baarid nahee taeh bataavahu koe |137|Yet it is like the cloud someone may give its name and that is the cloud.137.
ਬਿਖਧਰ ਬਿਸੀ ਬਿਸੋਕਕਰ ਬਾਰਣਾਰਿ ਜਿਹ ਨਾਮ ॥
bikhadhar bisee bisokakar baaranaar jih naam |That whose names are “Vishdhar, Vishayee, Shok-Karrak, Karunari etc. it is called Baan
ਨਾਮ ਸਬੈ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਬਾਨ ਕੇ ਲੀਨੇ ਹੋਵਹਿ ਕਾਮ ॥੧੩੮॥
naam sabai sree baan ke leene hoveh kaam |138|By naming it, all tasks are fulfilled.138.
ਅਰਿ ਬੇਧਨ ਛੇਦਨ ਲਹ੍ਯੋ ਬੇਦਨ ਕਰ ਜਿਹ ਨਾਉ ॥
ar bedhan chhedan lahayo bedan kar jih naau |Though it is know by the names “Arivedhan and Arichhedan”, its name is “Vednaakar”
ਰਛ ਕਰਨ ਅਪਨਾਨ ਕੀ ਪਰੋ ਦੁਸਟ ਕੇ ਗਾਉ ॥੧੩੯॥
rachh karan apanaan kee paro dusatt ke gaau |139|That Baan (arrow) protects its people and rains on the villages of he tyrants.139.
ਜਦੁਪਤਾਰਿ ਬਿਸਨਾਧਿਪ ਅਰਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਸਨਾਤਕ ਜਿਹ ਨਾਮ ॥
jadupataar bisanaadhip ar krisanaatak jih naam |Whose name is Jadupatari (Krishna's enemy) Bisnadhipa ari, Krisnantak.
ਸਦਾ ਹਮਾਰੀ ਜੈ ਕਰੋ ਸਕਲ ਕਰੋ ਮਮ ਕਾਮ ॥੧੪੦॥
sadaa hamaaree jai karo sakal karo mam kaam |140|Thy enemy of Krishna, the Lord of Yadavas, whose names are “Vishnadhipatiari and Krishnanatak”, O Baan! You may ever bring victory to us and fulfil all our tasks.140.
ਹਲਧਰ ਸਬਦ ਬਖਾਨਿ ਕੈ ਅਨੁਜ ਉਚਰਿ ਅਰਿ ਭਾਖੁ ॥
haladhar sabad bakhaan kai anuj uchar ar bhaakh |Say the word Haldhar (first) and then pronounce the word 'Anuj' (little brother) and 'Ari'.
ਸਕਲ ਨਾਮ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਬਾਨ ਕੇ ਚੀਨਿ ਚਤੁਰ ਚਿਤ ਰਾਖੁ ॥੧੪੧॥
sakal naam sree baan ke cheen chatur chit raakh |141|After speaking the word “Haldhar”, then adding Anuj and afterwards saying “Ari”, the wise people know all the names of Baan.141.
ਰਉਹਣਾਯ ਮੁਸਲੀ ਹਲੀ ਰੇਵਤੀਸ ਬਲਰਾਮ ॥
rauhanaay musalee halee revatees balaraam |Ruhanay' (born of Rohni, Balaram) Musli, Hali, Revatis (Revati's husband, Balaram) by pronouncing Balaram (initial word),
ਅਨੁਜ ਉਚਰਿ ਪੁਨਿ ਅਰਿ ਉਚਰਿ ਜਾਨੁ ਬਾਨ ਕੇ ਨਾਮ ॥੧੪੨॥
anuj uchar pun ar uchar jaan baan ke naam |142|Uttering the words “Rohinay, Musli, Hali, Revteesh, Balram and Anuj”, then adding the word” Ari”, the names of Baan are known.142.
ਤਾਲਕੇਤੁ ਲਾਗਲਿ ਉਚਰਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਸਨਾਗ੍ਰਜ ਪਦ ਦੇਹੁ ॥
taalaket laagal uchar krisanaagraj pad dehu |Uttering the words “Taalketu, Langali”, then adding Krishagraj
ਅਨੁਜ ਉਚਰਿ ਅਰਿ ਉਚਰੀਐ ਨਾਮ ਬਾਨ ਲਖਿ ਲੇਹੁ ॥੧੪੩॥
anuj uchar ar uchareeai naam baan lakh lehu |143|Also uttering the word Anuj and then adding the word “Ari”, the names of Baan are known.143.
ਨੀਲਾਬਰ ਰੁਕਮਿਆਂਤ ਕਰ ਪਊਰਾਣਿਕ ਅਰਿ ਭਾਖੁ ॥
neelaabar rukamiaant kar paooraanik ar bhaakh |By saying Nilambar, Rukmyant Kar (The Ender of Rukmi, Balaram) Puranic Ari (Rome Harshan Rishi's Enemy, Balaram) (Preface)
ਅਨੁਜ ਉਚਰਿ ਅਰਿ ਉਚਰੀਐ ਨਾਮ ਬਾਨ ਲਖਿ ਰਾਖੁ ॥੧੪੪॥
anuj uchar ar uchareeai naam baan lakh raakh |144|Speaking the words “Neelamber, Rukmantkar and Pauranic Ari”, then uttering the word “Anuj” and adding “Ari”, the names of Baan are understood.144.
ਸਭ ਅਰਜੁਨ ਕੇ ਨਾਮ ਲੈ ਸੂਤ ਸਬਦ ਪੁਨਿ ਦੇਹੁ ॥
sabh arajun ke naam lai soot sabad pun dehu |Taking all the names of Arjan, then adding the word 'suta' (meaning Krishna).
ਪੁਨਿ ਅਰਿ ਸਬਦ ਬਖਾਨੀਐ ਨਾਮ ਬਾਨ ਲਖਿ ਲੇਹੁ ॥੧੪੫॥
pun ar sabad bakhaaneeai naam baan lakh lehu |145|Uttering all the names of Arjun, adding the word “Satya” and then speaking “Ari”, all the names of Baan are spoken.145.
