ਚਹਿਯਤ ਹਨੀ ਕਿ ਤੁਰਤ ਨਿਕਾਰੀ ॥
chahiyat hanee ki turat nikaaree |It should be killed or removed immediately.
ਭਲੋ ਨ ਗਵਨ ਕਰੋ ਤਾ ਕੇ ਛਿਨ ॥
bhalo na gavan karo taa ke chhin |It is good that one should not go to him even for a pinch
ਦੁਰਾਚਾਰ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਕਰਤ ਜੁ ਨਿਸ ਦਿਨ ॥੧੦॥
duraachaar triy karat ju nis din |10|The woman who misbehaves day and night. 10.
ਇਨ ਕੇ ਜੋਗ ਏਕ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਅਹੀ ॥
ein ke jog ek triy ahee |A woman is worthy of them
ਏਕ ਸਾਹ ਕੇ ਜਾਈ ਕਹੀ ॥
ek saah ke jaaee kahee |Which is said to be born in the house of a Shah.
ਜ੍ਯੋਂ ਇਹ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਪੁਰਖਨ ਕੋ ਰਾਜਾ ॥
jayon ih nrip purakhan ko raajaa |As this kingdom is the king of men,
ਤ੍ਰਯੋ ਵਹੁ ਨਾਰਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਯਨ ਸਿਰਤਾਜਾ ॥੧੧॥
trayo vahu naar triyan sirataajaa |11|Similarly, she is the crown of women. 11.
ਜੌ ਵਾ ਕੌ ਰਾਜਾ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਲ੍ਯਾਵੈ ॥
jau vaa kau raajaa grih layaavai |If the king brings him to (his) house,
ਰਾਜ ਪਾਟ ਤਬ ਸਕਲ ਸੁਹਾਵੈ ॥
raaj paatt tab sakal suhaavai |Then (his) whole kingdom will be glorious.
ਤਾਹਿ ਲਖੇ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਸਭ ਦੁਰਿ ਜਾਹੀ ॥
taeh lakhe triy sabh dur jaahee |Seeing him all the women will hide (become senseless).
ਜਿਮਿ ਉਡਗਨ ਰਵਿ ਕੀ ਪਰਛਾਹੀ ॥੧੨॥
jim uddagan rav kee parachhaahee |12|Just as the stars (disappear) due to the shadow of the sun. 12.
ਜਬ ਰਾਜੈ ਇਹ ਬਿਧਿ ਸੁਨ ਪਾਯੋ ॥
jab raajai ih bidh sun paayo |When the king heard this
ਇਹੈ ਮਤੋ ਜਿਯ ਮਾਝ ਪਕਾਯੋ ॥
eihai mato jiy maajh pakaayo |So I fixed this idea in my mind
ਦੁਰਾਚਾਰਿ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਪਰਹਰੌ ॥
duraachaar isatree paraharau |That the miscreant should abandon the woman
ਨਿਜੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਸਾਹ ਸੁਤਾ ਲੈ ਕਰੌ ॥੧੩॥
nij triy saah sutaa lai karau |13|And take the Shah's daughter as his wife. 13.
ਪ੍ਰਾਤੈ ਕਾਲ ਧਾਮ ਜਬ ਆਯੋ ॥
praatai kaal dhaam jab aayo |When (the king) came home in the morning, they arrived
ਨੇਗੀ ਮਹਤਨ ਬੋਲਿ ਪਠਾਯੋ ॥
negee mahatan bol patthaayo |And called the Chowdhurys.
ਸਾਹ ਸੁਤਾ ਜਿਹ ਤਿਹ ਬਿਧਿ ਲਈ ॥
saah sutaa jih tih bidh lee |Like how to get Shah's daughter
ਰਾਨੀ ਡਾਰਿ ਹ੍ਰਿਦੈ ਤੇ ਦਈ ॥੧੪॥
raanee ddaar hridai te dee |14|And removed the queen from the heart. 14.

ਇਹ ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰ ਤਹ ਚੰਚਲਾ ਤਾ ਕੋ ਚਰਿਤ ਦਿਖਾਇ ॥
eih charitr tah chanchalaa taa ko charit dikhaae |This character was shown by that woman to him (the king).
ਨਿਜੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਸਾਥ ਤੁਰਾਇ ਤਿਹ ਆਪਨ ਭਜ੍ਯੋ ਬਨਾਇ ॥੧੫॥
nij triy saath turaae tih aapan bhajayo banaae |15|He separated her from his wife and started enjoying union with her. 15.
ਇਤਿ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰ ਪਖ੍ਯਾਨੇ ਤ੍ਰਿਯਾ ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰੇ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੀ ਭੂਪ ਸੰਬਾਦੇ ਤੀਨ ਸੌ ਚੌਦਹ ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰ ਸਮਾਪਤਮ ਸਤੁ ਸੁਭਮ ਸਤੁ ॥੩੧੪॥੫੯੭੩॥ਅਫਜੂੰ॥

ਸਹਿਰ ਇਟਾਵਾ ਗੰਗ ਤੀਰ ਜਹ ॥
sahir ittaavaa gang teer jah |Where was the city of Etawah on the banks of the river Ganges,
ਪਾਲ ਸੁ ਪਛਿਮ ਹੁਤੇ ਨ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਤਹ ॥
paal su pachhim hute nripat tah |There used to be a king named Pachim Pal.
ਨਾਰਿ ਸੁ ਪਛਿਮ ਦੇ ਤਾ ਕੇ ਘਰ ॥
naar su pachhim de taa ke ghar |In his house there was a woman named Pachimde (Dei).
ਸੁਰੀ ਨਾਗਨੀ ਨਰੀ ਨ ਸਰਬਰ ॥੧॥
suree naaganee naree na sarabar |1|There was no god, serpent or human (male) woman like him. 1.
ਬਾਢੀ ਏਕ ਰਾਨਿਯਹਿ ਹੇਰਾ ॥
baadtee ek raaniyeh heraa |The queen (once) saw a badhi (carpenter).
ਮਦਨ ਦੇਹ ਤਬ ਹੀ ਤਿਹ ਘੇਰਾ ॥
madan deh tab hee tih gheraa |Only then her body was engulfed by Kama Dev (i.e. became engrossed with Kama).
ਅਧਿਕ ਨੇਹ ਤਿਹ ਸਾਥ ਬਢਾਯੋ ॥
adhik neh tih saath badtaayo |She (the queen) grew very fond of him
ਰਾਜਾ ਕੋ ਚਿਤ ਤੇ ਬਿਸਰਾਯੋ ॥੨॥
raajaa ko chit te bisaraayo |2|And made the king forget about Chit. 2.
ਐਸੀ ਰਸਿਗੀ ਤਾ ਸੌ ਨਾਰੀ ॥
aaisee rasigee taa sau naaree |With him (that) woman became so absorbed,
ਜਾ ਤੇ ਪਤਿ ਤਨ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਬਿਸਾਰੀ ॥
jaa te pat tan preet bisaaree |By doing which she forgot her husband's love.
ਗੇਰੂ ਘੋਰਿ ਪਾਨ ਕਰਿ ਲੀਯੋ ॥
geroo ghor paan kar leeyo |(He one day) dissolved ocher and drank it
ਮੁਖ ਤੇ ਡਾਰਿ ਲਖਤ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਦੀਯੋ ॥੩॥
mukh te ddaar lakhat nrip deeyo |3|And in the sight of the king, he gave it out of his mouth. 3.
ਜਾਨਾ ਸ੍ਰੋਣ ਬਦਨ ਤੇ ਬਮਾ ॥
jaanaa sron badan te bamaa |(The king) understood (that he) had vomited blood from the mouth.
ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਮਨ ਮੈ ਇਹ ਸੂਲ ਨ ਛਮਾ ॥
nrip man mai ih sool na chhamaa |This pain (sul) was not tolerated by the king.
ਅਤਿ ਆਤੁਰ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਬੈਦ ਬੁਲਾਏ ॥
at aatur hvai baid bulaae |Being very anxious (he) called the physician
ਚਿਹਨ ਰੋਗ ਤਿਹ ਨਾਰਿ ਸੁਨਾਏ ॥੪॥
chihan rog tih naar sunaae |4|And tell (the physician) the symptoms of that woman's disease. 4.
ਤਬ ਤਿਨ ਪੀ ਗੇਰੂ ਪੁਨਿ ਡਾਰਾ ॥
tab tin pee geroo pun ddaaraa |Then she (the woman) drank ocher again.
ਸ੍ਰੋਣ ਬਮਾ ਸਭਹੂਨ ਬਿਚਾਰਾ ॥
sron bamaa sabhahoon bichaaraa |(He) was thought by all to vomit blood.
ਤਬ ਪਤਿ ਸੋ ਇਮ ਨਾਰਿ ਉਚਾਰੋ ॥
tab pat so im naar uchaaro |Then the woman said to her husband,
ਅਬ ਰਾਨੀ ਕਹ ਮਰੀ ਬਿਚਾਰੋ ॥੫॥
ab raanee kah maree bichaaro |5|Now consider the queen as dead. 5.
ਰਾਨੀ ਕਹਤ ਨ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਸੋ ਕਰਿਯਹੁ ॥
raanee kahat nripat so kariyahu |The queen began to say to the king that (you) do (what I have told).
ਮੇਰੋ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਨ ਬਦਨ ਨਿਹਰਿਯਹੁ ॥
mero bahur na badan nihariyahu |Don't look at my face again.
ਔਰ ਸਖੀ ਕਾਹੂ ਨ ਦਿਖੈਯੋ ॥
aauar sakhee kaahoo na dikhaiyo |Don't show it to anyone else.
ਰਾਨੀ ਜਾਇ ਜਾਰ ਘਰਿ ਐਯੋ ॥੬॥
raanee jaae jaar ghar aaiyo |6|Come home only after going and burning the queen. 6.
