ਭਜਹਿ ਬਾਮ ਕੈਫਿਯੈ ਕੇਲ ਜੁਗ ਜਾਮ ਮਚਾਵਹਿ ॥
bhajeh baam kaifiyai kel jug jaam machaaveh |

Practitioners indulge in women and perform kelkrida for two hours.

ਹਰਿਣਾ ਜਿਮਿ ਉਛਲਹਿ ਨਾਰਿ ਨਾਗਰਿਨ ਰਿਝਾਵਹਿ ॥
harinaa jim uchhaleh naar naagarin rijhaaveh |

Leaping like deer pleases clever women.

ਸੌਫੀ ਚੜਤਹਿ ਕਾਪਿ ਧਰਨਿ ਊਪਰਿ ਪਰੈ ॥
sauafee charrateh kaap dharan aoopar parai |

Sofi (Rati-krida) starts trembling and falls on the ground.

ਹੋ ਬੀਰਜ ਖਲਤ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਜਾਹਿ ਕਹਾ ਜੜ ਰਤਿ ਕਰੈ ॥੨੪॥
ho beeraj khalat hvai jaeh kahaa jarr rat karai |24|

Their seed is discarded, (they should consider) whether they will play sports. 24.

ਬੀਰਜ ਭੂਮਿ ਗਿਰ ਪਰੈ ਤਕੇ ਮੁਖ ਬਾਇ ਕੈ ॥
beeraj bhoom gir parai take mukh baae kai |

(Their) semen falls on the ground and they are left staring at their heels.

ਨਿਰਖਿ ਨਾਰ ਕੀ ਓਰ ਰਹੈ ਸਿਰੁ ਨ੍ਯਾਇ ਕੈ ॥
nirakh naar kee or rahai sir nayaae kai |

Looking at the woman, they lower their heads.

ਸਰਮਨਾਕ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਹ੍ਰਿਦੈ ਬਚਨ ਹਸਿ ਹਸਿ ਕਹੈ ॥
saramanaak hvai hridai bachan has has kahai |

They are shy in heart but they laugh and talk.

ਹੋ ਕਾਮ ਕੇਲ ਕੀ ਸਮੈ ਨ ਪਸੁ ਕੌਡੀ ਲਹੈ ॥੨੫॥
ho kaam kel kee samai na pas kauaddee lahai |25|

At the time of Kamkel, those fools cannot get even a single kodi (meaning they are deprived of joy). 25.

ਤਮਕਿ ਸਾਗ ਸੰਗ੍ਰਹਹਿ ਤੁਰੈ ਪਰ ਦਲਹਿ ਨਚਾਵੈ ॥
tamak saag sangraheh turai par daleh nachaavai |

(The practical people) after eating khuns, holding spears in their hands, dance the horse on the (enemy's) side.

ਟੂਕ ਟੂਕ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਗਿਰਹਿ ਤਊ ਸਾਮੁਹਿ ਹਥਿ ਧਾਵੈ ॥
ttook ttook hvai gireh taoo saamuhi hath dhaavai |

The pieces fall apart, but (still) move forward.

ਅਸਿ ਧਾਰਨ ਲਗ ਜਾਹਿ ਨ ਚਿਤਹਿ ਡੁਲਾਵਹੀ ॥
as dhaaran lag jaeh na chiteh ddulaavahee |

Even when the edge of the sword is applied, the mind does not waver.

ਹੇ ਤੇ ਨਰ ਬਰਤ ਬਰੰਗਨਿ ਸੁਰਪੁਰ ਪਾਵਹੀ ॥੨੬॥
he te nar barat barangan surapur paavahee |26|

Such people attain heaven by using apachharas ('barangani'). 26.

ਸੁਕ੍ਰਿਤ ਸੁਘਰ ਜਿਨਿ ਆਇ ਜਗਤ ਮੈ ਜਸ ਕੌ ਪਾਯੋ ॥
sukrit sughar jin aae jagat mai jas kau paayo |

Those persons are the good-doers who have come to the world and made a difference.

ਬਹੁਰਿ ਖਲਨ ਕਹ ਖੰਡਿ ਖੇਤ ਜੈ ਸਬਦ ਕਹਾਯੋ ॥
bahur khalan kah khandd khet jai sabad kahaayo |

Then they cut the bad guys to pieces and make them celebrate in the wilderness.

ਅਮਲ ਪਾਨ ਸੁਭ ਅੰਗ ਧਨੁਖ ਸਰ ਜਿਨ ਲਯੋ ॥
amal paan subh ang dhanukh sar jin layo |

Those persons are freed from life in the world by practicing

ਹੋ ਸੋ ਨਰ ਜੀਵਤ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਜਗਤ ਭੀਤਰ ਭਯੋ ॥੨੭॥
ho so nar jeevat mukat jagat bheetar bhayo |27|

They carry bows and arrows on their auspicious bodies. 27.

ਕਬਹੂੰ ਨ ਖਾਏ ਪਾਨ ਅਮਲ ਕਬਹੂੰ ਨਹਿ ਪੀਯੋ ॥
kabahoon na khaae paan amal kabahoon neh peeyo |

A person who has never chewed paan and never taken drugs,

ਕਬਹੂੰ ਨ ਖੇਲ ਅਖੇਟਨ ਸੁਖ ਨਿਰਧਨ ਕਹ ਦੀਯੋ ॥
kabahoon na khel akhettan sukh niradhan kah deeyo |

Never played prey (and by donating) gave comfort to the needy,

ਕਬਹੂੰ ਨ ਸੌਂਧਾ ਲਾਇ ਰਾਗ ਮਨ ਭਾਇਯੋ ॥
kabahoon na sauandhaa laae raag man bhaaeiyo |

Never perfumed and raga did not please (their) mind.

ਹੋ ਕਰਿਯੋ ਨ ਭਾਮਿਨ ਭੋਗ ਜਗਤ ਕ੍ਯੋਨ ਆਇਯੋ ॥੨੮॥
ho kariyo na bhaamin bhog jagat kayon aaeiyo |28|

(He who has not indulged in pleasure with a woman, (tell him) why he has come into the world. 28.

ਨਾਦ ਗੰਧ ਸੁਭ ਇਸਤ੍ਰਨ ਜਿਨ ਨਰ ਰਸ ਲੀਏ ॥
naad gandh subh isatran jin nar ras lee |

Men who have taken the raga, the best fragrance and the juice of women,

ਅਮਲ ਪਾਨ ਆਖੇਟ ਦ੍ਰੁਜਨ ਦੁਖਿਤ ਕੀਏ ॥
amal paan aakhett drujan dukhit kee |

Having acted, played prey and afflicted the wicked,

ਸਾਧੁ ਸੇਵਿ ਸੁਭ ਸੰਗ ਭਜਤ ਹਰਿ ਜੂ ਭਏ ॥
saadh sev subh sang bhajat har joo bhe |

The name of God is chanted by doing the service and auspicious company of the sadhu,

ਹੋ ਤੇ ਦੈ ਜਸ ਦੁੰਦਭੀ ਜਗਤ ਯਾ ਤੇ ਗਏ ॥੨੯॥
ho te dai jas dundabhee jagat yaa te ge |29|

They have gone from this world with their bells ringing. 29.

ਚਤੁਰਿ ਨਾਰਿ ਬਹੁ ਭਾਤਿ ਰਹੀ ਸਮੁਝਾਇ ਕਰਿ ॥
chatur naar bahu bhaat rahee samujhaae kar |

(That) shrewd woman explained (her husband) in many ways,

ਮੂਰਖ ਨਾਹ ਨ ਸਮੁਝਿਯੋ ਉਠਿਯੋ ਰਿਸਾਇ ਕਰਿ ॥
moorakh naah na samujhiyo utthiyo risaae kar |

(But he) did not consider her a foolish husband and got up in anger.

ਗਹਿ ਕੈ ਤਰੁਨਿ ਤੁਰੰਤ ਤਰਲ ਤਾਜਨ ਮਰਿਯੋ ॥
geh kai tarun turant taral taajan mariyo |

The woman was caught and beaten with a flexible whip ('Taral Tajan').

ਹੋ ਤਬ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਠਾਢ ਚਰਿਤ ਤਹੀ ਇਹ ਬਿਧਿ ਕਰਿਯੋ ॥੩੦॥
ho tab triy tthaadt charit tahee ih bidh kariyo |30|

So the woman stood up and performed like this. 30.

ਛਿਤ ਪਰ ਖਾਇ ਪਛਾਰ ਪਰੀ ਮੁਰਛਾਇ ਕਰਿ ॥
chhit par khaae pachhaar paree murachhaae kar |

She fell unconscious on the ground after eating beetroot.

ਹਾਇ ਹਾਇ ਕਰਿ ਸਾਹੁ ਲਈ ਉਰ ਲਾਇ ਕਰਿ ॥
haae haae kar saahu lee ur laae kar |

Shah said 'hi hi' and put it on his chest.

ਲਾਖ ਲਹੇ ਤੁਮ ਬਚੇ ਕਹੋ ਕ੍ਯਾ ਕੀਜਿਯੈ ॥
laakh lahe tum bache kaho kayaa keejiyai |

(If I say) I have earned lakhs, if you survive, tell me (now) what I should do.

ਹੋ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਸਹਿਤ ਭੋਜਨ ਸਭ ਕਹ ਦੀਜਿਯੈ ॥੩੧॥
ho kahiyo nrip sahit bhojan sabh kah deejiyai |31|

(The woman replied that) feed everyone including the king. 31.

ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥
doharaa |

dual:

ਸਾਹੁ ਤਬੈ ਭੋਜਨ ਕਰਾ ਨਾਨਾ ਬਿਧਨ ਬਨਾਇ ॥
saahu tabai bhojan karaa naanaa bidhan banaae |

Then Shah prepared many kinds of food

ਊਚ ਨੀਚ ਰਾਜਾ ਪ੍ਰਜਾ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਲਏ ਬੁਲਾਇ ॥੩੨॥
aooch neech raajaa prajaa sabh hee le bulaae |32|

And the high and the low, the king and the people, called all. 32.

ਚੌਪਈ ॥

twenty four:

ਪਾਤਿ ਪਾਤਿ ਲੋਗਨ ਬੈਠਾਯੋ ॥
paat paat logan baitthaayo |

People were seated in rows

ਭਾਤਿ ਭਾਤਿ ਭੋਜਨਹਿ ਖਵਾਯੋ ॥
bhaat bhaat bhojaneh khavaayo |

And ate a variety of food.

ਇਤੈ ਨ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਸੌ ਨੇਹ ਲਗਾਇਸਿ ॥
eitai nripat sau neh lagaaeis |

Thus fell in love with the king

ਬਾਤਨ ਸੌ ਤਾ ਕੌ ਉਰਝਾਇਸਿ ॥੩੩॥
baatan sau taa kau urajhaaeis |33|

And confused him with words (that is, attracted him). 33.

ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥
doharaa |

dual:

ਭੋਜਨ ਤਿਨੈ ਖਵਾਇਯੋ ਭਾਗ ਭੋਜ ਮੈ ਪਾਇ ॥
bhojan tinai khavaaeiyo bhaag bhoj mai paae |

He added bhang in the food and fed them.

ਰਾਜਾ ਕੋ ਪਤਿ ਕੇ ਸਹਿਤ ਛਲ ਸੌ ਗਈ ਸੁਵਾਇ ॥੩੪॥
raajaa ko pat ke sahit chhal sau gee suvaae |34|

The king was tricked into having sex with her husband. 34.

ਭਾਗਿ ਖਾਇ ਰਾਜਾ ਜਗਿਯੋ ਸੋਫੀ ਭਯੋ ਅਚੇਤ ॥
bhaag khaae raajaa jagiyo sofee bhayo achet |

After eating bhang, the king became alert and Sophie (the king) fell asleep.

ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਭਏ ਤਿਹ ਨਾਰਿ ਕੋ ਤਬ ਹੀ ਬਨਿਯੋ ਸੰਕੇਤ ॥੩੫॥
mitr bhe tih naar ko tab hee baniyo sanket |35|

(The king) became the friend of that woman and only then was there a sign (of obtaining union).35.

twenty four:

ਲੋਗ ਜਿਵਾਇ ਬਚਨ ਇਮਿ ਭਾਖਾ ॥
log jivaae bachan im bhaakhaa |

After feeding the people (the woman) said thus

ਸਿਗਰੋ ਦਿਵਸ ਰਾਇ ਹਮ ਰਾਖਾ ॥
sigaro divas raae ham raakhaa |

That I will keep the king (with me) all day long.
