ਬ੍ਯਾਪਿ ਰਹਿਯੋ ਤਿਹ ਜਦਿਪ ਅਨੰਗਾ ॥
bayaap rahiyo tih jadip anangaa |But he did not agree with her.
ਦੇਵਜਾਨਿ ਤਬ ਅਧਿਕ ਰਿਸਾਈ ॥
devajaan tab adhik risaaee |Then Devyani got very angry
ਮੋਹਿ ਨ ਭਜ੍ਯੋ ਯਾਹਿ ਦੁਖਦਾਈ ॥੧੧॥
mohi na bhajayo yaeh dukhadaaee |11|That this sad (Kach) did not play with me. 11.
ਇਹ ਬਿਧਿ ਸ੍ਰਾਪ ਦੇਤ ਤਿਹ ਭਈ ॥
eih bidh sraap det tih bhee |Cursed him thus.
ਕਥਾ ਚਉਪਈ ਸੁ ਮੈ ਬਨਈ ॥
kathaa chaupee su mai banee |I have tied that story in four verses.
ਪਾਪੀ ਫੁਰੈ ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਤਵ ਨਾਹੀ ॥
paapee furai mantr tav naahee |O sinner! (You in time) the mantra will not be fulfilled
ਤੋ ਤੇ ਸੁਰ ਨ ਜਿਵਾਏ ਜਾਹੀ ॥੧੨॥
to te sur na jivaae jaahee |12|And the gods will not be able to be saved from you. 12.
ਪ੍ਰਥਮ ਜਿਯਾਯੋ ਤਾਹਿ ਕਸਟ ਕਰਿ ॥
pratham jiyaayo taeh kasatt kar |Earlier (Devayani) kept him alive by suffering.
ਰਮ੍ਯੋ ਨ ਸੋ ਸ੍ਰਾਪ੍ਰਯੋ ਤਬ ਰਿਸਿ ਭਰਿ ॥
ramayo na so sraaprayo tab ris bhar |(When) he did not perform Ramana, he got angry and cursed.
ਪਿਤਾ ਭਏ ਇਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਸੁਨਾਯੋ ॥
pitaa bhe ih bhaat sunaayo |Then (he narrated to his) father thus,
ਦੇਵਰਾਜ ਇਹ ਕਚਹਿ ਪਠਾਯੋ ॥੧੩॥
devaraaj ih kacheh patthaayo |13|This piece has been sent by Devraj. 13.
ਤਾਤ ਬਾਤ ਕਹੋ ਮੈ ਸੋ ਕਰੋ ॥
taat baat kaho mai so karo |Oh father! Do what I say.
ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਸਜੀਵਨ ਇਹ ਨਨੁਸਰੋ ॥
mantr sajeevan ih nanusaro |Don't make it official Sanjeevani mantra.
ਜਬ ਇਹ ਸੀਖਿ ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਕਹ ਜੈ ਹੈ ॥
jab ih seekh mantr kah jai hai |When this mantra will be learned
ਦੇਵਰਾਜ ਫਿਰਿ ਹਾਥ ਨ ਐ ਹੈ ॥੧੪॥
devaraaj fir haath na aai hai |14|Then Devraj (Indra) will not come to hand. 14.
ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਨ ਫੁਰੈ ਸ੍ਰਾਪ ਇਹ ਦੀਜੈ ॥
mantr na furai sraap ih deejai |Curse it (so that in due time it) does not utter the mantra.
ਮੇਰੋ ਬਚਨ ਮਾਨਿ ਪਿਤੁ ਲੀਜੈ ॥
mero bachan maan pit leejai |Oh father! Take my word for it.
ਭੇਦ ਅਭੇਦ ਕਛੁ ਸੁਕ੍ਰ ਨ ਪਾਯੋ ॥
bhed abhed kachh sukr na paayo |Shukracharya could not understand Bhed Abhed
ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਨਿਫਲ ਕੋ ਸ੍ਰਾਪੁ ਦਿਵਾਯੋ ॥੧੫॥
mantr nifal ko sraap divaayo |15|And cursed the failure of the mantra. 15.
ਤਾਹਿ ਮਰੇ ਬਹੁ ਬਾਰ ਜਿਯਾਯੋ ॥
taeh mare bahu baar jiyaayo |He (Kach) was brought back to life many times from the dead (before).
ਤਬ ਸ੍ਰਾਪ੍ਰਯੋ ਜਬ ਭੋਗ ਨ ਪਾਯੋ ॥
tab sraaprayo jab bhog na paayo |But when he did not cooperate, he cursed.
ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰ ਗਤਿ ਕਿਨੂੰ ਨ ਪਾਈ ॥
triy charitr gat kinoo na paaee |No one understood the speed of woman's character.
ਜਿਨਿ ਬਿਧਨੈ ਇਹ ਨਾਰਿ ਬਨਾਈ ॥੧੬॥
jin bidhanai ih naar banaaee |16|(He also could not understand) the creator who created this woman. 16.

ਸੁਨੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਔਰ ਬਖਾਨੋ ਕਥਾ ॥
sun prabh aauar bakhaano kathaa |O Rajan! Listen, (I) tell another story,
ਐਹੈ ਚਿਤ ਹਮਾਰੇ ਜਥਾ ॥
aaihai chit hamaare jathaa |As she came into my mind.
ਛਜਕਰਨਨ ਕੋ ਦੇਸ ਬਸਤ ਜਹ ॥
chhajakaranan ko des basat jah |Where the country of Chhajkarans used to live,
ਸੁਛਬਿ ਕੇਤੁ ਇਕ ਹੁਤੋ ਨ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਤਹ ॥੧॥
suchhab ket ik huto nripat tah |1|There used to be a king named Suchabi Ketu. 1.
ਅਚਰਜ ਦੇ ਤਾ ਕੇ ਇਕ ਨਾਰੀ ॥
acharaj de taa ke ik naaree |In his (house) was a woman named Acharaj (Dei).
ਕਨਕ ਅਵਟਿ ਸਾਚੇ ਜਨੁ ਢਾਰੀ ॥
kanak avatt saache jan dtaaree |(It looked like this) as if gold had been melted and molded into a mold.
ਸ੍ਰੀ ਮਕਰਾਛ ਮਤੀ ਦੁਹਿਤਾ ਤਿਹ ॥
sree makaraachh matee duhitaa tih |He had a daughter named Makrach Mati
ਛੀਨਿ ਕਰੀ ਸਸਿ ਅੰਸ ਸਕਲ ਜਿਹ ॥੨॥
chheen karee sas ans sakal jih |2|Who had taken away the arts of the moon. 2.
ਜਬ ਬਰ ਜੋਗ ਭਈ ਵਹੁ ਦਾਰਾ ॥
jab bar jog bhee vahu daaraa |When she became eligible for Raj Kumari var
ਸਾਹੁ ਪੂਤ ਤਨ ਕਿਯਾ ਪ੍ਯਾਰਾ ॥
saahu poot tan kiyaa payaaraa |So she fell in love with (one) Shah's son.
ਕਾਮ ਕੇਲ ਤਿਹ ਸਾਥ ਕਮਾਵੈ ॥

ਭਾਤਿ ਅਨਿਕ ਤਨ ਤਾਹਿ ਰਿਝਾਵੈ ॥੩॥
bhaat anik tan taeh rijhaavai |3|And she used to please him in many ways. 3.
ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਤਨ ਭੇਦ ਕਿਸੂ ਨਰ ਭਾਖਾ ॥
nrip tan bhed kisoo nar bhaakhaa |Someone told this secret to the king.
ਤਬ ਤੇ ਤਾਹਿ ਧਾਮ ਅਸਿ ਰਾਖਾ ॥
tab te taeh dhaam as raakhaa |Since then (the king) kept him in such a house
ਜਹਾ ਨ ਪੰਛੀ ਕਰੈ ਪ੍ਰਵੇਸਾ ॥
jahaa na panchhee karai pravesaa |Where even birds could not enter
ਜਾਇ ਨ ਜਹਾ ਪਵਨ ਕੋ ਵੇਸਾ ॥੪॥
jaae na jahaa pavan ko vesaa |4|And where even the wind could not go. 4.
ਕੁਅਰਿ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਬਿਨੁ ਬਹੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਯੋ ॥
kuar mitr bin bahu dukh paayo |Raj Kumari suffered a lot without Pritam.
ਬੀਰ ਹਾਕਿ ਇਕ ਨਿਕਟ ਬੁਲਾਯੋ ॥
beer haak ik nikatt bulaayo |Calling one (of the fifty-two Birs), he called to him.
