ਤਉ ਅਚਲੇਸ ਗੁਮਾਨ ਭਰੇ ਅਤਿ ਹੀ ਹਸ ਕੈ ਇਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਪੁਕਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
tau achales gumaan bhare at hee has kai ih bhaat pukaariyo |After the passing away of one mahurat (a short span of time), Krishna regained his consciousness in the chariot, now Achlesh laughing proudly said,
ਜਾਤ ਕਹਾ ਹਮ ਤੇ ਭਜਿ ਕੈ ਕਰਿ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਗਦਾ ਕਟੁ ਬੋਲ ਉਚਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
jaat kahaa ham te bhaj kai kar lai ke gadaa katt bol uchaariyo |Where do you go escaping from me, with a mace in your hand uttering bitter words.
ਮਾਨਹੁ ਕੇਹਰਿ ਜਾਤ ਹੁਤੋ ਨਰ ਲੈ ਲਕੁਟੀ ਕਰਿ ਮੈ ਲਲਕਾਰਿਯੋ ॥੧੧੭੪॥
maanahu kehar jaat huto nar lai lakuttee kar mai lalakaariyo |1174|“Where will you run away from me?” Taking his mace in his hand, he uttered these ironical words like some man holding his staff and challenging a lion going away.1174.
ਯੌ ਸੁਨਿ ਕੈ ਬਤੀਆ ਅਰਿ ਕੀ ਰਥੁ ਹਾਕਿ ਫਿਰਿਯੋ ਹਰਿ ਕੋਪ ਭਯੋ ॥
yau sun kai bateea ar kee rath haak firiyo har kop bhayo |Hearing these words of the enemy, Krishna getting enraged, moved forward his chariot
ਪਟ ਪੀਤ ਮਹਾ ਫਹਰਿਓ ਧੁਜ ਜਿਉ ਘਨ ਮੈ ਚਪਲਾ ਸਮ ਰੂਪ ਲਯੋ ॥
patt peet mahaa fahario dhuj jiau ghan mai chapalaa sam roop layo |His yellow garment began to wave like the lightning among the clouds
ਬਰਖਿਯੋ ਸਰ ਬੂੰਦਨ ਜਿਉ ਘਨਿ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਤਬੈ ਰਿਪੁ ਕੋ ਦਲ ਮਾਰ ਦਯੋ॥
barakhiyo sar boondan jiau ghan sayaam tabai rip ko dal maar dayo|At that time Sri Krishna (fired) arrows like raindrops and killed the enemy's army.
ਰਿਸ ਕੈ ਅਚਲੇਸ ਸੁ ਬਾਨ ਕਮਾਨ ਗਹੇ ਹਰਿ ਸਾਮੁਹੇ ਆਇ ਖਯੋ ॥੧੧੭੫॥
ris kai achales su baan kamaan gahe har saamuhe aae khayo |1175|With the shower of his arrows, he killed the army of the enemy and now in great fury, taking his bow and arrows in his hands, Achlesh came and stood against Krishna.1175.
ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥

ਸਿੰਘ ਨਾਦ ਤਬ ਤਿਨ ਕੀਓ ਕ੍ਰਿਸਨ ਚਿਤੈ ਕਰਿ ਨੈਨ ॥
singh naad tab tin keeo krisan chitai kar nain |Then he chanted and saw Krishna with his eyes.
ਬਿਕਟਿ ਨਿਕਟਿ ਰਨਿ ਸੁਭਟ ਲਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਤਿ ਬੋਲਿਯੋ ਬੈਨ ॥੧੧੭੬॥
bikatt nikatt ran subhatt lakh har prat boliyo bain |1176|Seeing Krishna, he blew his horn (roaring like a lion) and seeing the warriors on all the four sides, he said to Krishna.1176.

ਜੀਵਤ ਜੇ ਜਗ ਮੈ ਰਹਿ ਹੈ ਅਤਿ ਜੁਧ ਕਥਾ ਹਮਰੀ ਸੁਨ ਲੈ ਹੈ ॥
jeevat je jag mai reh hai at judh kathaa hamaree sun lai hai |Those who remained alive in the world, (they) will hear the story of this heavy war of mine.
ਤਾ ਛਬਿ ਕੀ ਕਵਿਤਾ ਕਰਿ ਕੈ ਕਬਿ ਰਾਮ ਨਰੇਸਨ ਜਾਇ ਰਿਝੈ ਹੈ ॥
taa chhab kee kavitaa kar kai kab raam naresan jaae rijhai hai |“Those who will survive in the world, they will listen to our war episode and the poets will please the kings with that poetry
ਜੋ ਬਲਿ ਪੈ ਕਹਿ ਹੈ ਕਥ ਪੰਡਿਤ ਰੀਝਿ ਘਨੋ ਤਿਹ ਕੋ ਧਨੁ ਦੇ ਹੈ ॥
jo bal pai keh hai kath panddit reejh ghano tih ko dhan de hai |“But if the Pundits will narrate it, they will also receive enormous wealth
ਹੇ ਹਰਿ ਜੂ ਇਹ ਆਹਵ ਕੇ ਜੁਗ ਚਾਰਨਿ ਮੈ ਗੁਨ ਗੰਧ੍ਰਬ ਗੈਹੈ ॥੧੧੭੭॥
he har joo ih aahav ke jug chaaran mai gun gandhrab gaihai |1177|And O Krishna! Ganas and Gandharvas will also sing about this war.”1177.
ਕੋਪ ਕੈ ਉਤਰ ਦੇਤ ਭਯੋ ਅਰਿ ਕੀ ਬਤੀਯਾ ਸੁਨਿ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਸਬੈ ॥
kop kai utar det bhayo ar kee bateeyaa sun sayaam sabai |After hearing all the words of the enemy, Lord Krishna replied in anger.
ਚਿਰੀਯਾ ਬਨ ਮੈ ਚੁਹਕੈ ਤਬ ਲਉ ਅਤਿ ਕੋਪ ਨ ਆਵਤ ਬਾਜ ਜਬੈ ॥
chireeyaa ban mai chuhakai tab lau at kop na aavat baaj jabai |Krishna heard all this talk of the enemy, got enraged, and said, “The sparrow only chirps in the forest as long as the falcon does not come there
ਗਰਬਾਤ ਹੈ ਮੂਢ ਘਨੋ ਰਨ ਮੈ ਕਟਿ ਹੌ ਤੁਹਿ ਸੀਸ ਲਖੈਗੋ ਤਬੈ ॥
garabaat hai moodt ghano ran mai katt hau tuhi sees lakhaigo tabai |“O fool, you are absorbed in too much pride
ਤਿਹ ਤੇ ਤਜਿ ਸੰਕ ਨਿਸੰਕ ਲਰੋ ਬਲਬੀਰ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਕਹਾ ਢੀਲ ਅਬੈ ॥੧੧੭੮॥
tih te taj sank nisank laro balabeer kahiyo kahaa dteel abai |1178|You will know only then, when I chop your head, therefore forsaking all illusions come and fight and do not delay any more.”1178.
ਯੌ ਸੁਨਿ ਕੈ ਕਟੁ ਬੈਨਨ ਕੋ ਅਚਲੇਸ ਬਲੀ ਮਨਿ ਕੋਪ ਜਗਿਯੋ ॥
yau sun kai katt bainan ko achales balee man kop jagiyo |Hearing such bitter words, Achal Singh Soorme got angry in his mind.
ਕਸ ਬੋਲਤ ਹੋ ਕਛੁ ਲਾਜ ਗਹੋ ਰਨਿ ਠਾਢੇ ਰਹੋ ਸੁਨਿ ਹੋ ਨ ਭਗਿਯੋ ॥
kas bolat ho kachh laaj gaho ran tthaadte raho sun ho na bhagiyo |Hearing these words, the anger arose in the mind of the brave Achal Singh and he thundered,
ਯਹ ਉਤਰ ਦੈ ਹਰਿ ਕੋ ਜਬ ਹੀ ਤਬ ਹੀ ਨਿਜ ਆਯੁਧ ਲੈ ਉਮਗਿਯੋ ॥
yah utar dai har ko jab hee tab hee nij aayudh lai umagiyo |“O Krishna! you may feel ashamed
ਮਨ ਮੈ ਹਰਖਿਯੋ ਧਨੁ ਕੋ ਕਰਖਿਯੋ ਬਰਖਿਯੋ ਸਰ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਹਰਿ ਕੋ ਨ ਲਗਿਯੋ ॥੧੧੭੯॥
man mai harakhiyo dhan ko karakhiyo barakhiyo sar sree har ko na lagiyo |1179|Stand there and do not run,” saying this he held up his weapon in his hand and ran forward, he, getting pleased, pulled his bow and discharged his arrow, but that arrow did not hit Krishna.1179.
ਜੋ ਅਚਲੇਸ ਜੂ ਬਾਨ ਚਲਾਵਤ ਸੋ ਹਰਿ ਆਵਤ ਕਾਟਿ ਗਿਰਾਵੈ ॥
jo achales joo baan chalaavat so har aavat kaatt giraavai |Every arrow discharged by Achal Singh was intercepted by Krishna
ਜਾਨੈ ਨ ਦੇਹ ਲਗਿਯੋ ਅਰਿ ਕੀ ਸਰ ਫੇਰਿ ਰਿਸਾ ਕਰਿ ਅਉਰ ਚਲਾਵੈ ॥
jaanai na deh lagiyo ar kee sar fer risaa kar aaur chalaavai |When he learnt that, that arrow did not hit Krishna, then in anger he would shoot another arrow
ਸੋ ਹਰਿ ਆਵਤ ਬੀਚ ਕਟੈ ਅਪਨੋ ਉਹ ਕੋ ਉਰ ਬੀਚ ਲਗਾਵੈ ॥
so har aavat beech kattai apano uh ko ur beech lagaavai |Krishna would intercept that arrow also midway and instead would inflict his arrow in his enemy’s chest
ਦੇਖਿ ਸਤਕ੍ਰਿਤ ਕਉਤਕ ਕੋ ਕਬਿ ਰਾਮ ਕਹੈ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੋ ਜਸੁ ਗਾਵੈ ॥੧੧੮੦॥
dekh satakrit kautak ko kab raam kahai prabh ko jas gaavai |1180|Seeing this spectacle, the poet Ram is eulogsing the Lord-God.1180.
ਦਾਰੁਕ ਕੋ ਕਹਿਓ ਤੇਜ ਕੈ ਸ੍ਯੰਦਨ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਹਰਿ ਜੂ ਕਰਿ ਖਗੁ ਸੰਭਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
daaruk ko kahio tej kai sayandan sree har joo kar khag sanbhaariyo |Telling his charioteer named Daruk to drive his chariot speedily, Krishna held up his dagger in his hand’ in great fury, he struck it on the head of the enemy
ਦਾਮਨਿ ਜਿਉ ਘਨ ਮੈ ਲਸਕੈ ਰਿਸ ਮੈ ਬਰਿ ਕੈ ਅਰਿ ਊਪਰ ਮਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
daaman jiau ghan mai lasakai ris mai bar kai ar aoopar maariyo |It was flashing like lightning
ਦੁਜਨ ਕੋ ਸਿਰੁ ਕਾਟਿ ਦਯੋ ਬਿਨੁ ਰੁੰਡ ਭਯੋ ਜਸੁ ਤਾਹਿ ਉਚਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
dujan ko sir kaatt dayo bin rundd bhayo jas taeh uchaariyo |He, (Krishna) cut the head of that wicked person, making his trunk headless
ਜਿਉ ਸਰਦੂਲ ਮਹਾ ਬਨ ਮੈ ਹਤ ਕੈ ਬਲ ਸੋ ਮਨੋ ਕੇਹਰਿ ਡਾਰਿਯੋ ॥੧੧੮੧॥
jiau saradool mahaa ban mai hat kai bal so mano kehar ddaariyo |1181|It seemed that the great lion has killed the small lion.1181.

ਅਮਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਅਰੁ ਅਟਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਮਹਾਰਥੀ ਰਨ ਧੀਰ ॥੧੧੮੨॥
amar singh ar attal singh mahaarathee ran dheer |1182|At that time Addar Singh, Ajaib Singh, Aghat Singh, Vir Singh, Amar Singh, Atal Singh etc., the great warriors were there.1182
ਅਰਜਨ ਸਿੰਘ ਅਰੁ ਅਮਿਟ ਸਿੰਘ ਕ੍ਰਿਸਨ ਨਿਹਾਰਿਓ ਨੈਨ ॥
arajan singh ar amitt singh krisan nihaario nain |Arjan Singh, Amit Singh (named) eight warrior kings saw Krishna with their eyes.
ਆਠ ਭੂਪ ਮਿਲਿ ਪਰਸਪਰ ਬੋਲਤ ਐਸੇ ਬੈਨ ॥੧੧੮੩॥
aatth bhoop mil parasapar bolat aaise bain |1183|Krishna saw Arjun Singh and Amit Singh and found that eight kings were together conversing with one another.1183.
ਸਵੈਯਾ ॥

ਦੇਖਤ ਹੋ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਬਲੀ ਤਿਹ ਕੇ ਹਮ ਊਪਰਿ ਧਾਇ ਪਰੈ ॥
dekhat ho nrip sayaam balee tih ke ham aoopar dhaae parai |Those kings were saying, “O kings! he is the mighty Krishna
ਅਪੁਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੋ ਮਿਲਿ ਕਾਜ ਕਰੈ ਮੁਸਲੀ ਹਰਿ ਤੇ ਨਹੀ ਨੈਕੁ ਡਰੈ ॥
apune prabh ko mil kaaj karai musalee har te nahee naik ddarai |Let us fall upon him and without fearing Krishna and Balram even a little, we may work for our Lord,”
ਧਨੁ ਬਾਨ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਨ ਗਦਾ ਪਰਸੇ ਬਰਛੇ ਗਹਿ ਤੀਛਨ ਜਾਇ ਅਰੈ ॥
dhan baan kripaan gadaa parase barachhe geh teechhan jaae arai |They caught their bows, arrows, swords, maces, axes, daggers etc. and went to resist
ਸਬ ਹੀ ਸੁ ਕਹੀ ਇਹ ਈ ਪ੍ਰਨ ਹੈ ਜਦੁਬੀਰ ਹਨੈ ਮਿਲਿ ਜੁਧ ਕਰੈ ॥੧੧੮੪॥
sab hee su kahee ih ee pran hai jadubeer hanai mil judh karai |1184|They said to all, “Let us together wage a war and kill Krishna.”1184.
ਆਯੁਧ ਲੈ ਸਿਗਰੇ ਕਰ ਮੈ ਸੁ ਮੁਕੰਦ ਕੇ ਊਪਰਿ ਦਉਰ ਪਰੇ ॥
aayudh lai sigare kar mai su mukand ke aoopar daur pare |Taking their weapons in their hands, they fell upon Krishna
ਸੁ ਧਵਾਇ ਕੈ ਸ੍ਯੰਦਨ ਆਨਿ ਅਰੇ ਸੰਗਿ ਚਾਰ ਅਛੂਹਨਿ ਸੂਰ ਬਰੇ ॥
su dhavaae kai sayandan aan are sang chaar achhoohan soor bare |They drove their chariots and brought before him their army of four extremely large units
ਕਬਿ ਰਾਮ ਕਹੈ ਅਤਿ ਆਹਵ ਮੈ ਅਘ ਖੰਡਨਿ ਤੇ ਨਹੀ ਨੈਕ ਡਰੇ ॥
kab raam kahai at aahav mai agh khanddan te nahee naik ddare |The poet Shyam says that they had not even the slightest fear in this dreadful war and rushed forward shouting “Kill. Kill”
ਮਨੋ ਗਾਜਿ ਪ੍ਰਲੈ ਘਨ ਧਾਇ ਚਲਿਯੋ ਤਿਮ ਦਉਰੇ ਸੁ ਮਾਰ ਹੀ ਮਾਰ ਕਰੇ ॥੧੧੮੫॥
mano gaaj pralai ghan dhaae chaliyo tim daure su maar hee maar kare |1185|It appeared that the clouds of doomsday were thundering.1185.
ਧਨ ਸਿੰਘ ਅਛੂਹਨਿ ਦੁਇ ਸੰਗਿ ਲੈ ਅਨਗੇਸ ਅਛੂਹਨਿ ਤੀਨ ਸੁ ਲ੍ਯਾਏ ॥
dhan singh achhoohan due sang lai anages achhoohan teen su layaae |Dhan Singh came with two extremely large units of army and Angesh Singh brought three such units
ਸੋ ਤੁਮ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਸੁਨੋ ਛਲ ਸੋ ਰਨ ਮੈ ਦਸ ਹੂੰ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਮਾਰਿ ਗਿਰਾਏ ॥
so tum sayaam suno chhal so ran mai das hoon nrip maar giraae |They said, “O Krishna! you have killed the ten kings with deceit
