ਖੋਦਿ ਕੈ ਬਹੁ ਭਾਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਿਥਵੀ ਪੂਜਿ ਅਰਧ ਦਿਸਾਨ ॥

khod kai bahu bhaat prithavee pooj aradh disaan |

After digging up the earth in many ways, when they reached half way,

ਅੰਤਿ ਭੇਦ ਬਿਲੋਕੀਆ ਮੁਨਿ ਬੈਠਿ ਸੰਜੁਤ ਧ੍ਯਾਨ ॥

ant bhed bilokeea mun baitth sanjut dhayaan |

While digging the earth in various ways, scanned all the directions, they ultimately saw the sage Kapila in medication

ਪ੍ਰਿਸਟ ਪਾਛ ਬਿਲੋਕ ਬਾਜ ਸਮਾਜ ਰੂਪ ਅਨੂਪ ॥

prisatt paachh bilok baaj samaaj roop anoop |

Behind (his) back he saw a horse with full decorations.

ਲਾਤ ਭੇ ਮੁਨਿ ਮਾਰਿਓ ਅਤਿ ਗਰਬ ਕੈ ਸੁਤ ਭੂਪ ॥੭੨॥

laat bhe mun maario at garab kai sut bhoop |72|

They saw the horse behind him and those princes in their pride, hit the sage with the leg.72.

ਧ੍ਰਯਾਨ ਛੂਟ ਤਬੈ ਮੁਨੀ ਦ੍ਰਿਗ ਜ੍ਵਾਲ ਮਾਲ ਕਰਾਲ ॥

dhrayaan chhoott tabai munee drig jvaal maal karaal |

Then the sage's attention was lost and from (his) eyes fierce flames of fire came out.

ਭਾਤਿ ਭਾਤਿਨ ਸੋ ਉਠੀ ਜਨੁ ਸਿੰਧ ਅਗਨਿ ਬਿਸਾਲ ॥

bhaat bhaatin so utthee jan sindh agan bisaal |

The medication of the sage was broken and from within him arose various kinds of huge fires

ਭਸਮਿ ਭੂਤ ਭਏ ਸਬੇ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਲਛ ਪੁਤ੍ਰ ਸੁ ਨੈਨ ॥

bhasam bhoot bhe sabe nrip lachh putr su nain |

Lakh sons of (Sagar) king with his nan (Agni) became ghosts.

ਬਾਜ ਰਾਜ ਸੁ ਸੰਪਦਾ ਜੁਤ ਅਸਤ੍ਰ ਸਸਤ੍ਰ ਸੁ ਸੈਨ ॥੭੩॥

baaj raaj su sanpadaa jut asatr sasatr su sain |73|

In that fire, one-lakh sons of the king along with their horses, arms, weapons and forces were reduced to ashes.73.

ਮਧੁਭਾਰ ਛੰਦ ॥

MADHUBHAAR SATAZA

ਭਏ ਭਸਮਿ ਭੂਤ ॥

bhe bhasam bhoot |

consumed

ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਸਰਬ ਪੂਤ ॥

nrip sarab poot |

Raja (Sagar) All Raj Kumar

ਜੁਤ ਸੁਭਟ ਸੈਨ ॥

jut subhatt sain |

including the army

ਸੁੰਦਰ ਸੁਬੈਨ ॥੭੪॥

sundar subain |74|

All the sons of the king were reduced to ashes and all his forces were destroyed while lamenting.74

ਸੋਭਾ ਅਪਾਰ ॥

sobhaa apaar |

(Whose) splendor was immense

ਸੁੰਦਰ ਕੁਮਾਰ ॥

sundar kumaar |

And who were very beautiful.

ਜਬ ਜਰੇ ਸਰਬ ॥

jab jare sarab |

When all burned

ਤਬ ਤਜਾ ਗਰਬ ॥੭੫॥

tab tajaa garab |75|

When those prices of great glory were burnt down then the pride of all was smashed.75.

ਬਾਹੂ ਅਜਾਨ ॥

baahoo ajaan |

Burning (seeing) (went along) with arms up to the knees,

ਸੋਭਾ ਮਹਾਨ ॥

sobhaa mahaan |

great beauty,

ਦਸ ਚਾਰਿ ਵੰਤ ॥

das chaar vant |

fourteen qualities,

ਸੂਰਾ ਦੁਰੰਤ ॥੭੬॥

sooraa durant |76|

That most powerful Lord is extremely Glorious and the warriors of all the four directions fear Him.76.

ਜਾਰਿ ਭਾਜੇ ਬੀਰ ॥

jaar bhaaje beer |

Seeing the burning (went with) the warriors in the pit

ਹੁਐ ਚਿਤਿ ਅਧੀਰ ॥

huaai chit adheer |

Got impatient

ਦਿਨੋ ਸੰਦੇਸ ॥

dino sandes |

And went and gave the message (of the condition of the princes).

ਜਹ ਸਾਗਰ ਦੇਸ ॥੭੭॥

jah saagar des |77|

Some warriors who had been burnt, ran impatiently towards the king and they conveyed the whole thing to the king sagar.77.

ਲਹਿ ਸਾਗਰ ਬੀਰ ॥

leh saagar beer |

Sagar recognized (those) warriors.

ਹ੍ਵੈ ਚਿਤਿ ਅਧੀਰ ॥

hvai chit adheer |

(Then) Chit became impatient

ਪੁਛੇ ਸੰਦੇਸ ॥

puchhe sandes |

And the behavior of the sons

ਪੂਤਨ ਸੁਬੇਸ ॥੭੮॥

pootan subes |78|

When the king sagar saw this, he impatiently asked the news about his sons.78.

ਕਰਿ ਜੋਰਿ ਸਰਬ ॥

kar jor sarab |

Letting go of pride

ਭਟ ਛੋਰਿ ਗਰਬ ॥

bhatt chhor garab |

And with folded hands (the warriors)

ਉਚਰੇ ਬੈਨ ॥

auchare bain |

Words uttered (but in their) eyes

ਜਲ ਚੁਅਤ ਨੈਨ ॥੭੯॥

jal chuat nain |79|

Then all of them talked about their strength and also said how the pried of those warriors was destroyed, the tears were flowing from their eyes while saying this.79.

ਭੂਅ ਫੇਰਿ ਬਾਜ ॥

bhooa fer baaj |

O Great and Great King!

ਜਿਣਿ ਸਰਬ ਰਾਜ ॥

jin sarab raaj |

(They) rode the sacrificial horse over the whole land

ਸਬ ਸੰਗ ਲੀਨ ॥

sab sang leen |

And by conquering all kings

ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਬਰ ਪ੍ਰਬੀਨ ॥੮੦॥

nrip bar prabeen |80|

The messengers told this that his sons, causing their horse to move on all the earth, had conquered all the kings and had taken them along with themselves.80.

ਹਯ ਗਯੋ ਪਯਾਰ ॥

hay gayo payaar |

(Then) the horse went to hell.

ਤੁਅ ਸੁਤ ਉਦਾਰ ॥

tua sut udaar |

Your generous sons

ਭੂਅ ਖੋਦ ਸਰਬ ॥

bhooa khod sarab |

The whole earth was destroyed

ਅਤਿ ਬਢਾ ਗਰਬ ॥੮੧॥

at badtaa garab |81|

Your sons, thinking that the horse had gone to the nether-world, had dug the whole of the earth and in this way, their pride had enormously increased.81.
