ਸੰਗ ਸੁਤਾ ਕਾਜੀ ਕੀ ਆਨੀ ॥
sang sutaa kaajee kee aanee |Also brought Qazi's daughter
ਸਾਹ ਸੁਨਤ ਇਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਬਖਾਨੀ ॥੧੩॥
saah sunat ih bhaat bakhaanee |13|And while listening to the king, he said like this. 13.
ਨਿਰਖਹੁ ਕਾਜਿ ਸੁਤਾ ਮੁਹਿ ਬਰਾ ॥
nirakhahu kaaj sutaa muhi baraa |See, Qazi's daughter has married me
ਆਪਹਿ ਰੀਝਿ ਮਦਨਪਤਿ ਕਰਾ ॥
aapeh reejh madanapat karaa |And has got a husband like Kama Dev by himself.
ਵਹੈ ਮੁਹਰ ਹਜਰਤਿਹਿ ਦਿਖਾਈ ॥
vahai muhar hajaratihi dikhaaee |The same seal was shown to the king
ਜੋ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਆਪੁ ਕਰਾਈ ॥੧੪॥
jo isatree hvai aap karaaee |14|Who, being a woman, had applied herself. 14.
ਨਿਰਖਤ ਮੁਹਰ ਸਭਾ ਸਭ ਹਸੀ ॥
nirakhat muhar sabhaa sabh hasee |Seeing the seal, the whole assembly started laughing
ਕਾਜਿ ਸੁਤਾ ਮਿਤਵਾ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਬਸੀ ॥
kaaj sutaa mitavaa grih basee |That Qazi's daughter has moved to Mitra's house.
ਕਾਜੀ ਹੂੰ ਚੁਪ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਕਰਿ ਰਹਾ ॥
kaajee hoon chup hvai kar rahaa |Qazi also remained silent.
ਨ੍ਯਾਇ ਕਿਯਾ ਤੈਸਾ ਫਲ ਲਹਾ ॥੧੫॥
nayaae kiyaa taisaa fal lahaa |15|(The kind of) justice he had done, he got the same kind of fruit. 15.
ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥
doharaa |dual:
ਇਹ ਛਲ ਸੌ ਕਾਜੀ ਛਲਾ ਬਸੀ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਕੇ ਧਾਮ ॥
eih chhal sau kaajee chhalaa basee mitr ke dhaam |In this way, he tricked the Qazi and went to Mitra's house.
ਲਖਨ ਚਰਿਤ ਚਤੁਰਾਨ ਕੋ ਹੈ ਨ ਕਿਸੀ ਕੋ ਕਾਮ ॥੧੬॥
lakhan charit chaturaan ko hai na kisee ko kaam |16|Seeing (understanding) women's character is not one's business. 16.
ਇਤਿ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰ ਪਖ੍ਯਾਨੇ ਤ੍ਰਿਯਾ ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰੇ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੀ ਭੂਪ ਸੰਬਾਦੇ ਤੀਨ ਸੌ ਬਾਵਨ ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰ ਸਮਾਪਤਮ ਸਤੁ ਸੁਭਮ ਸਤੁ ॥੩੫੨॥੬੪੯੨॥ਅਫਜੂੰ॥

ਸੁਨਹੁ ਰਾਜ ਇਕ ਕਥਾ ਉਚਾਰੋ ॥
sunahu raaj ik kathaa uchaaro |O Rajan! Listen, let me describe a story.
ਜਿਯ ਤੁਮਰੇ ਕੋ ਭਰਮ ਨਿਵਾਰੋ ॥
jiy tumare ko bharam nivaaro |(By which) I remove the illusion of your mind.
ਬਿਸਨਾਵਤੀ ਨਗਰ ਇਕ ਦਛਿਨ ॥
bisanaavatee nagar ik dachhin |There is a town called Bisnavati in the south direction.
ਬਿਸਨ ਚੰਦ ਤਹ ਭੂਪ ਬਿਚਛਨ ॥੧॥
bisan chand tah bhoop bichachhan |1|There was a wise king named Bisan Chand. 1.
ਉਗ੍ਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਤਹ ਸਾਹੁ ਭਨਿਜੈ ॥
augr singh tah saahu bhanijai |The Shah's name was Ugra Singh.
ਕਵਨ ਭੂਪ ਪਟਤਰ ਤਿਹ ਦਿਜੈ ॥
kavan bhoop pattatar tih dijai |With whom can we compare her beauty (meaning it cannot be compared with anyone).
ਸ੍ਰੀ ਰਨਝੂਮਕ ਦੇ ਤਿਹਾ ਬਾਲਾ ॥
sree ranajhoomak de tihaa baalaa |He had a daughter named Ranjhumaka (Dei),
ਚੰਦ੍ਰ ਲਯੋ ਜਾ ਤੇ ਉਜਿਯਾਲਾ ॥੨॥
chandr layo jaa te ujiyaalaa |2|From whom the moon took light. 2.
ਸੁੰਭ ਕਰਨ ਕਹ ਹੁਤੀ ਬਿਵਾਹੀ ॥
sunbh karan kah hutee bivaahee |She was married to Sumbha Karan.
ਸੋ ਦਿਨ ਏਕ ਨਿਰਖ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਚਾਹੀ ॥
so din ek nirakh nrip chaahee |One day the king wanted to see him.
ਜਤਨ ਥਕਿਯੋ ਕਰਿ ਹਾਥ ਨ ਆਈ ॥
jatan thakiyo kar haath na aaee |(The king) got tired of trying, but it did not come to hand.
ਕੋਪ ਬਢਾ ਅਤਿ ਹੀ ਨਰ ਰਾਈ ॥੩॥
kop badtaa at hee nar raaee |3|(Consequently) the anger of the king increased greatly. 3.
ਦੇਖਹੁ ਇਹੁ ਅਬਲਾ ਕਾ ਹੀਯਾ ॥
dekhahu ihu abalaa kaa heeyaa |(saying) Look at this Abla's Jigara.
ਜਿਹ ਕਾਰਨ ਹਮ ਅਸ ਛਲ ਕੀਯਾ ॥
jih kaaran ham as chhal keeyaa |For which I tried so hard,
ਰੰਕ ਛੋਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਰਾਵ ਨ ਭਾਯੋ ॥
rank chhor kar raav na bhaayo |But the king did not like (him) leaving the rank.
ਬਹੁ ਭ੍ਰਿਤਨ ਕਹ ਤਹਾ ਪਠਾਯੋ ॥੪॥
bahu bhritan kah tahaa patthaayo |4|(The king) sent many servants to him. 4.
ਸੁਨਤ ਬਚਨ ਚਾਕਰ ਤਹ ਗਏ ॥
sunat bachan chaakar tah ge |Hearing (the king's) words, the servants went to him.
ਘੇਰ ਲੇਤ ਤਾ ਕੋ ਘਰ ਭਏ ॥
gher let taa ko ghar bhe |(They) surrounded his house.
ਤਾ ਕੇ ਪਤਿ ਕਹ ਹਨਾ ਰਿਸਾਈ ॥
taa ke pat kah hanaa risaaee |Killed her husband in a fit of rage.
ਭਾਜਿ ਗਈ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਹਾਥ ਨ ਆਈ ॥੫॥
bhaaj gee triy haath na aaee |5|(But) the woman ran away, (their) hands did not come. 5.
ਮ੍ਰਿਤਕ ਨਾਥ ਜਬ ਨਾਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
mritak naath jab naar nihaariyo |When that woman saw her husband dead,
ਇਹੈ ਚੰਚਲਾ ਚਰਿਤ ਬਿਚਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
eihai chanchalaa charit bichaariyo |(So that) woman considered this character.
ਕਵਨ ਜਤਨ ਰਾਜਾ ਕਹ ਮਰਿਯੈ ॥
kavan jatan raajaa kah mariyai |With what effort should the king be killed?
ਅਪਨੇ ਪਤਿ ਕੋ ਬੈਰ ਉਤਰਿਯੈ ॥੬॥
apane pat ko bair utariyai |6|And the enmity of her husband should be removed. 6.
ਲਿਖ ਪਤਿਯਾ ਪਠਈ ਇਕ ਤਹਾ ॥
likh patiyaa patthee ik tahaa |(He) wrote a letter and sent it there
ਬੈਠੋ ਹੁਤੋ ਨਰਾਧਿਪ ਜਹਾ ॥
baittho huto naraadhip jahaa |where the king was sitting
ਜੋ ਮੋ ਕਹ ਰਾਨੀ ਤੁਮ ਕਰਹੁ ॥
jo mo kah raanee tum karahu |O Rajan! If you want to make me your queen,
ਤੋ ਮੁਹਿ ਭੂਪ ਆਜੁ ਹੀ ਬਰਹੁ ॥੭॥
to muhi bhoop aaj hee barahu |7|So come and take me today. 7.
ਸੁਨਤ ਬਚਨ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਬੋਲਿ ਪਠਾਈ ॥
sunat bachan nrip bol patthaaee |Hearing this, the king called.
ਪਰ ਕੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਰਾਨੀ ਠਹਰਾਈ ॥
par kee triy raanee tthaharaaee |Made a foreign woman a queen.
ਜਿਹ ਤਿਹ ਬਿਧਿ ਤਾ ਕੋ ਗ੍ਰਿਹਿ ਆਨੋ ॥
jih tih bidh taa ko grihi aano |Like how he brought her home.
ਭੇਦ ਅਭੇਦ ਜੜ ਕਛੁ ਨ ਪਛਾਨੋ ॥੮॥
bhed abhed jarr kachh na pachhaano |8|That fool did not understand anything indistinct.8.
ਸੰਗ ਅਪਨੇ ਤਾ ਕੌ ਲੈ ਸੋਯੋ ॥
sang apane taa kau lai soyo |He slept with him
