ਯਹ ਸੁਨਿ ਖਬਰ ਨਰਾਧਿਪ ਪਾਈ ॥੫॥
yah sun khabar naraadhip paaee |5|The king also heard this news. 5.
ਏਕ ਨਾਰਿ ਇਹ ਨਗਰ ਭਨਿਜੈ ॥
ek naar ih nagar bhanijai |(The king was told that) there is a woman said to be in this town.
ਨਾਮ ਹਿੰਗੁਲਾ ਦੇਇ ਕਹਿਜੈ ॥
naam hingulaa dee kahijai |(Her) name is called Hingula Devi.
ਜਗਤ ਮਾਤ ਕੌ ਆਪੁ ਕਹਾਵੈ ॥
jagat maat kau aap kahaavai |She calls herself Jagat Mata
ਊਚ ਨੀਚ ਕਹ ਪਾਇ ਲਗਾਵੈ ॥੬॥
aooch neech kah paae lagaavai |6|And puts the high and the low under her feet. 6.
ਕਾਜੀ ਔਰ ਮੁਲਾਨੇ ਜੇਤੇ ॥
kaajee aauar mulaane jete |(There) as many Qazis and Maulanas
ਜੋਗੀ ਮੁੰਡਿਯਾ ਅਰੁ ਦਿਜ ਕੇਤੇ ॥
jogee munddiyaa ar dij kete |Or there were Jogis, Sanyasis and Brahmins,
ਸਭ ਕੀ ਘਟਿ ਪੂਜਾ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਗਈ ॥
sabh kee ghatt poojaa hvai gee |The worship of all of them decreased
ਪਰਚਾ ਅਧਿਕ ਤਵਨ ਕੀ ਭਈ ॥੭॥
parachaa adhik tavan kee bhee |7|And his recognition increased more.7.
ਸਭ ਭੇਖੀ ਯਾ ਤੇ ਰਿਸਿ ਭਰੇ ॥
sabh bhekhee yaa te ris bhare |All the beggars started eating with him.
ਬਹੁ ਧਨ ਚੜਤ ਨਿਰਖਿ ਤਿਹ ਜਰੇ ॥
bahu dhan charrat nirakh tih jare |Seeing him being offered a lot of money, he began to burn (very much in his mind).
ਗਹਿ ਲੈ ਗਏ ਤਾਹਿ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਪਾਸਾ ॥
geh lai ge taeh nrip paasaa |They caught him and took him to the king
ਕਹਤ ਭਏ ਇਹ ਬਿਧਿ ਉਪਹਾਸਾ ॥੮॥
kahat bhe ih bidh upahaasaa |8|(And he) mockingly started saying like this. 8.
ਕਰਾਮਾਤ ਕਛੁ ਹਮਹਿ ਦਿਖਾਇ ॥
karaamaat kachh hameh dikhaae |May (it) also show us some of its miracles,
ਕੈ ਨ ਭਵਾਨੀ ਨਾਮੁ ਕਹਾਇ ॥
kai na bhavaanee naam kahaae |Or don't call your name Bhavani.
ਤਬ ਅਬਲਾ ਅਸ ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਬਿਚਾਰਾ ॥
tab abalaa as mantr bichaaraa |Then the woman said thus,
ਸੁਨੁ ਰਾਜਾ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਬਚਨ ਹਮਾਰਾ ॥੯॥
sun raajaa kahiyo bachan hamaaraa |9|O Rajan! Listen to my spoken words. 9.
ਅੜਿਲ ॥
arril |adamant:
ਮੁਸਲਮਾਨ ਮਸਜਦਿਹਿ ਅਲਹਿ ਘਰ ਭਾਖਹੀ ॥
musalamaan masajadihi aleh ghar bhaakhahee |Muslims call the mosque the house of God.
ਬਿਪ੍ਰ ਲੋਗ ਪਾਹਨ ਕੌ ਹਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਰਾਖਹੀ ॥
bipr log paahan kau har kar raakhahee |Brahmin people consider stone as God.
ਕਰਾਮਾਤ ਜੌ ਤੁਹਿ ਏ ਪ੍ਰਥਮ ਬਤਾਇ ਹੈ ॥
karaamaat jau tuhi e pratham bataae hai |If these people first show you by performing (some) miracles,
ਹੋ ਤਿਹ ਪਾਛੇ ਕਛੁ ਹਮਹੂੰ ਇਨੈ ਦਿਖਾਇ ਹੈ ॥੧੦॥
ho tih paachhe kachh hamahoon inai dikhaae hai |10|So after them I will also show them miracles. 10.
ਚੌਪਈ ॥
chauapee |twenty four:
ਬਚਨ ਸੁਨਤ ਰਾਜਾ ਮੁਸਕਾਏ ॥
bachan sunat raajaa musakaae |The king laughed hearing (this).
ਦਿਜਬਰ ਮੁਲਾ ਪਕਰਿ ਮੰਗਾਏ ॥
dijabar mulaa pakar mangaae |And many Brahmins, Maulanas,
ਮੁੰਡਿਯਾ ਔਰ ਸੰਨ੍ਯਾਸੀ ਘਨੇ ॥
munddiyaa aauar sanayaasee ghane |Jogis, girls, Jangams,
ਜੋਗੀ ਜੰਗਮ ਜਾਤ ਨ ਗਨੇ ॥੧੧॥
jogee jangam jaat na gane |11|He caught and called the monks who cannot be counted. 11.
ਅੜਿਲ ॥
arril |adamant:
ਭੂਪ ਬਚਨ ਮੁਖ ਤੇ ਇਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਉਚਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
bhoop bachan mukh te ih bhaat uchaariyo |The king said thus from (his) mouth
ਸਭਾ ਬਿਖੈ ਸਭਹਿਨ ਤਿਨ ਸੁਨਤ ਪਚਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
sabhaa bikhai sabhahin tin sunat pachaariyo |And told those sitting in the assembly
ਕਰਾਮਾਤ ਅਪੁ ਅਪਨੀ ਹਮੈ ਦਿਖਾਇਯੈ ॥
karaamaat ap apanee hamai dikhaaeiyai |that (first you) show me your miracles,
ਹੋ ਨਾਤਰ ਅਬ ਹੀ ਧਾਮ ਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਕੇ ਜਾਇਯੈ ॥੧੨॥
ho naatar ab hee dhaam mrit ke jaaeiyai |12|Otherwise, all will go to the house of the dead (i.e. will be killed). 12.
ਸੁਨਿ ਰਾਜਾ ਕੇ ਬਚਨ ਸਭੈ ਬ੍ਯਾਕੁਲ ਭਏ ॥
sun raajaa ke bachan sabhai bayaakul bhe |Hearing the words of the king, everyone became distraught.
ਸੋਕ ਸਮੁੰਦ ਕੇ ਬੀਚ ਬੂਡਿ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਗਏ ॥
sok samund ke beech boodd sabh hee ge |All drowned in the sea of sorrow.
ਨਿਰਖਿ ਨ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਕੀ ਓਰ ਰਹੇ ਸਿਰ ਨ੍ਯਾਇ ਕੈ ॥
nirakh nripat kee or rahe sir nayaae kai |Looking at the king, he lowered his head
ਹੋ ਕਰਾਮਾਤ ਕੋਈ ਸਕੈ ਨ ਤਾਹਿ ਦਿਖਾਇ ਕੈ ॥੧੩॥
ho karaamaat koee sakai na taeh dikhaae kai |13|Because no one could show him miracles. 13.
ਕਰਾਮਾਤ ਨਹਿ ਲਖੀ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਰਾਜਾ ਭਰਿਯੋ ॥
karaamaat neh lakhee krodh raajaa bhariyo |Seeing no miracles (from any side), the king was filled with anger.
ਸਾਤ ਸਾਤ ਸੈ ਚਾਬੁਕ ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਤਨ ਝਰਿਯੋ ॥
saat saat sai chaabuk tin ke tan jhariyo |(He) inflicted seven hundred lashes on their bodies (and said)
ਕਰਾਮਾਤ ਅਪੁ ਅਪੁਨੀ ਕਛੁਕ ਦਿਖਾਇਯੈ ॥
karaamaat ap apunee kachhuk dikhaaeiyai |Show me some of your miracles,
ਹੋ ਨਾਤਰ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਕੇ ਪਾਇਨ ਸੀਸ ਝੁਕਾਇਯੈ ॥੧੪॥
ho naatar triy ke paaein sees jhukaaeiyai |14|Otherwise, bend the lead on (this) woman's feet. 14.
ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਖੁਦਾਇ ਕੈ ਤੇ ਕਛੁ ਹਮਹਿ ਦਿਖਾਇਯੈ ॥
grih khudaae kai te kachh hameh dikhaaeiyai |Show us something from God's house,
ਨਾਤਰ ਇਨ ਸੇਖਨ ਕੋ ਮੂੰਡ ਮੁੰਡਾਇਯੈ ॥
naatar in sekhan ko moondd munddaaeiyai |Otherwise, shave the heads of these sheikhs.
ਕਰਾਮਾਤ ਬਿਨੁ ਲਖੇ ਨ ਮਿਸ੍ਰਨ ਛੋਰਿ ਹੋ ॥
karaamaat bin lakhe na misran chhor ho |O Mishra (even you) will not leave without seeing miracles.
ਹੋ ਨਾਤਰ ਤੁਮਰੇ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਨਦਿ ਮਹਿ ਬੋਰਿ ਹੋ ॥੧੫॥
ho naatar tumare tthaakur nad meh bor ho |15|Otherwise I will drown your Thakur in the river. 15.
ਕਰਾਮਾਤ ਕਛੁ ਹਮਹਿ ਸੰਨ੍ਯਾਸੀ ਦੀਜਿਯੈ ॥
karaamaat kachh hameh sanayaasee deejiyai |O monks! show me a miracle
ਨਾਤਰ ਅਪਨੀ ਦੂਰਿ ਜਟਨ ਕੋ ਕੀਜਿਯੈ ॥
naatar apanee door jattan ko keejiyai |Otherwise remove (ie shave off) your jattas.
ਚਮਤਕਾਰ ਮੁੰਡਿਯੋ ਅਬ ਹਮਹਿ ਦਿਖਾਇਯੈ ॥
chamatakaar munddiyo ab hameh dikhaaeiyai |O Mundio! Now show me a miracle,
ਹੋ ਨਾਤਰ ਅਪਨੀ ਕੰਠੀ ਨਦੀ ਬਹਾਇਯੈ ॥੧੬॥
ho naatar apanee kantthee nadee bahaaeiyai |16|Otherwise, put your feet in the river. 16.
