ਰਤਿ ਅਤਿ ਨਿਤਪ੍ਰਤਿ ਕਰਤ ਬਨਾਈ ॥੩॥
rat at nitaprat karat banaaee |3|And she used to make love with him every day. 3.
ਰਸਤ ਰਸਤ ਐਸੀ ਰਸਿ ਗਈ ॥
rasat rasat aaisee ras gee |Being engrossed (in him) became so absorbed,
ਜਨੁ ਕਰ ਨਾਰਿ ਤਵਨ ਕੀ ਭਈ ॥
jan kar naar tavan kee bhee |As if he had become his wife.
ਸਭ ਬ੍ਰਿਤਾਤ ਕਹਿ ਤਾਹਿ ਸਿਖਾਯੋ ॥
sabh britaat keh taeh sikhaayo |(He) taught him (the man) all the English
ਸੋਵਤਿ ਸਮੈ ਭੂਪ ਕਹ ਘਾਯੋ ॥੪॥

ਪ੍ਰਾਤ ਜਰਨ ਕੇ ਕਾਜ ਸਿਧਾਈ ॥
praat jaran ke kaaj sidhaaee |In the morning (she) went to perform Sati
ਆਗੇ ਰਾਖਿ ਲਏ ਨਿਜੁ ਰਾਈ ॥
aage raakh le nij raaee |And kept the king (of Loth) before him.
ਜਬੈ ਚਿਤਾ ਪਰ ਬੈਠੀ ਜਾਇ ॥
jabai chitaa par baitthee jaae |When (she) went and sat on the pyre
ਚਹੂੰ ਓਰ ਦਿਯ ਆਗਿ ਲਗਾਇ ॥੫॥
chahoon or diy aag lagaae |5|And set fire from four sides.5.
ਚਾਰੋ ਦਿਸਾ ਅਗਨਿ ਜਬ ਲਾਗੀ ॥
chaaro disaa agan jab laagee |When fire broke out from all four sides,
ਤਬ ਹੀ ਉਤਰਿ ਚਿਤਾ ਤੈ ਭਾਗੀ ॥
tab hee utar chitaa tai bhaagee |So she got down from the pyre and ran away.
ਲੋਗਨ ਚਰਿਤ ਕ੍ਰਿਯਾ ਨਹਿ ਜਾਨੀ ॥
logan charit kriyaa neh jaanee |People did not understand the action of his character
ਦੀਨੀ ਤਿਸੀ ਚੰਡਾਰਹਿ ਰਾਨੀ ॥੬॥
deenee tisee chanddaareh raanee |6|And (breaking the protocol) handed over the queen to the same Chandal. 6.
ਯੌ ਛਲਿ ਛੈਲ ਚਿਕਨਿਸਨ ਗਈ ॥
yau chhal chhail chikanisan gee |In this way, the virgin with a soft body slipped away.
ਕਿਨੂੰ ਨ ਬਾਤ ਤਾਹਿ ਲਖਿ ਲਈ ॥
kinoo na baat taeh lakh lee |No one understood what he said.
ਨਾਰਿ ਅਧਿਕ ਮਨ ਹਰਖ ਬਢਾਯੋ ॥

tab te aaj lage uh desaa |From then until now in that country,
ਮਾਰਤ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਕੌ ਪ੍ਰਥਮ ਨਰੇਸਾ ॥
maarat triy kau pratham naresaa |They kill the woman before the king dies.
ਕਠ ਤਰੇ ਕਰਿ ਜਾਹਿ ਜਰਾਵਤ ॥
katth tare kar jaeh jaraavat |They put wood under (it) and burn it.
ਭਾਖਿ ਸਕਤਿ ਨਹਿ ਬਾਤ ਲਜਾਵਤ ॥੮॥
bhaakh sakat neh baat lajaavat |8|They cannot say (that our queen lived in Chandal's house) (therefore) they are ashamed. ॥8॥

ਤਿਹ ਰਾਨੀ ਕੇ ਪੁਤ੍ਰ ਤਬ ਰਾਜ ਕਰਾ ਤਿਹ ਠਾਵ ॥
tih raanee ke putr tab raaj karaa tih tthaav |The son of that queen then ruled there.
ਆਜੁ ਲਗੇ ਚੰਡਾਲਿਯੈ ਭਾਖਤ ਤਿਨ ਕੋ ਨਾਵ ॥੯॥
aaj lage chanddaaliyai bhaakhat tin ko naav |9|Until now, their name is called Chandali. 9.

sundar adhik huto khatirettaa |That Chhatri-putra was very handsome,
ਜਨੁਕ ਰੂਪ ਸੌ ਸਕਲ ਲਪੇਟਾ ॥
januk roop sau sakal lapettaa |As if enveloped in beauty.
ਜਬ ਤੇ ਨਿਰਖਿ ਨਾਰਿ ਤਿਹ ਗਈ ॥
jab te nirakh naar tih gee |When that queen went to see him,
ਸੁਧਿ ਬੁਧਿ ਛਾਡਿ ਦਿਵਾਨੀ ਭਈ ॥੩॥
sudh budh chhaadd divaanee bhee |3|So she abandoned the pure wisdom and became crazy. 3.
ਤਾ ਸੰਗ ਨੇਹ ਸਜਾ ਰੁਚਿ ਮਾਨ ॥
taa sang neh sajaa ruch maan |Then he made love to her with interest
ਜਾਨਿ ਬੂਝਿ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਗਈ ਅਜਾਨ ॥
jaan boojh hvai gee ajaan |And (himself) knowingly began to say unknown.
ਦਈ ਸਹਚਰੀ ਤਹਿਕ ਪਠਾਇ ॥
dee sahacharee tahik patthaae |(He) sent a friend to him
ਜ੍ਯੋਂ ਤ੍ਯੋਂ ਤਿਹ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਲਿਯਾ ਮੰਗਾਇ ॥੪॥
jayon tayon tih grih liyaa mangaae |4|And how did he call him home. 4.
ਪੋਸਤ ਭਾਗ ਅਫੀਮ ਮੰਗਾਈ ॥
posat bhaag afeem mangaaee |Poppy, hemp and opium were ordered
ਪਾਨਿ ਡਾਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਭਾਗ ਘੁਟਾਈ ॥
paan ddaar kar bhaag ghuttaaee |And add water and boil hemp.
ਪਾਨ ਕਿਯਾ ਦੁਹੂੰ ਬੈਠਿ ਪ੍ਰਜੰਕਹਿ ॥
paan kiyaa duhoon baitth prajankeh |Both sat on the bed and drank
ਰਤਿ ਮਾਨੀ ਭਰਿ ਭਰਿ ਦ੍ਰਿੜ ਅੰਕਹਿ ॥੫॥
