ਸੋ ਭਸਮ ਹੋਵਤ ਜਾਨੁ ॥
so bhasam hovat jaan |He too would have been consumed.
ਬਿਨੁ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਭਗਤ ਨ ਮਾਨੁ ॥੧੫੨॥
bin preet bhagat na maan |152|It could not have been saved from being reduced to ashes there can be no devotion without true love.152.
ਜਬ ਭਏ ਪੁਤ੍ਰਾ ਭਸਮ ॥
jab bhe putraa bhasam |When the effigy was consumed, (then it began to appear like this)
ਜਨ ਅੰਧਤਾ ਰਵਿ ਰਸਮ ॥
jan andhataa rav rasam |When that sheet was reduced to ashes like the destruction of the darkness by the sun,
ਪੁਨਿ ਪੂਛੀਆ ਤਿਹਾ ਜਾਇ ॥

ਕਉਨ ਭੂਪ ਭੂਮਿ ਮੈ ਬਤਾਇ ਮੋਹਿ ਦੀਜੀਯੈ ॥
kaun bhoop bhoom mai bataae mohi deejeeyai |Hey Munisar! Tell me which king is on earth
ਜੋ ਮੋਹਿ ਤ੍ਰਾਸਿ ਨ ਤ੍ਰਸ੍ਰਯੋ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਰਿਖੀਸ ਕੀਜੀਯੈ ॥
jo mohi traas na trasrayo kripaa rikhees keejeeyai |“O sage! kindly tell me the name and address of the king, who is not fearful of me
ਸੁ ਅਉਰ ਕਉਨ ਹੈ ਹਠੀ ਸੁ ਜਉਨ ਮੋ ਨ ਜੀਤਿਯੋ ॥
su aaur kaun hai hatthee su jaun mo na jeetiyo |What other stubborn hero is there that I have not conquered?
ਅਤ੍ਰਾਸ ਕਉਨ ਠਉਰ ਹੈ ਜਹਾ ਨ ਮੋਹ ਬੀਤਿਯੋ ॥੧੫੪॥
atraas kaun tthaur hai jahaa na moh beetiyo |154|“Who is that headstrong king, who has not been conquered by me? Which is that place, which has not come under my terror ? 154.
ਨ ਸੰਕ ਚਿਤ ਆਨੀਯੈ ਨਿਸੰਕ ਭਾਖ ਦੀਜੀਯੈ ॥
n sank chit aaneeyai nisank bhaakh deejeeyai |Don't create doubt in the mind, tell it calmly.
ਸੁ ਕੋ ਅਜੀਤ ਹੈ ਰਹਾ ਉਚਾਰ ਤਾਸੁ ਕੀਜੀਯੈ ॥
su ko ajeet hai rahaa uchaar taas keejeeyai |“You may tell me the name of that mighty one unhesitatingly, who is still unconquerable.
ਨਰੇਸ ਦੇਸ ਦੇਸ ਕੇ ਅਸੇਸ ਜੀਤ ਮੈ ਲੀਏ ॥
nares des des ke ases jeet mai lee |have conquered all the kings of the countries.
ਛਿਤੇਸ ਭੇਸ ਭੇਸ ਕੇ ਗੁਲਾਮ ਆਨਿ ਹੂਐ ਰਹੇ ॥੧੫੫॥
chhites bhes bhes ke gulaam aan hooaai rahe |155|“I have conquered all the kings of the countries far and near and have made all the king of the earth my slaves.155.
ਅਸੇਖ ਰਾਜ ਕਾਜ ਮੋ ਲਗਾਇ ਕੈ ਦੀਏ ॥
asekh raaj kaaj mo lagaae kai dee |(All the kings) I have engaged in the work of government.
ਅਨੰਤ ਤੀਰਥ ਨਾਤਿ ਕੈ ਅਛਿਨ ਪੁੰਨ ਮੈ ਕੀਏ ॥
anant teerath naat kai achhin pun mai kee |“I have employed many kings as my servants doing my jobs and have bestowed charities after taking bath at many pilgrim-stations
ਅਨੰਤ ਛਤ੍ਰੀਆਨ ਛੈ ਦੁਰੰਤ ਰਾਜ ਮੈ ਕਰੋ ॥
anant chhatreeaan chhai durant raaj mai karo |“I am ruling after killing innumerable Kshatriyas
ਸੋ ਕੋ ਤਿਹੁੰ ਜਹਾਨ ਮੈ ਸਮਾਜ ਜਉਨ ਤੇ ਟਰੋ ॥੧੫੬॥
so ko tihun jahaan mai samaaj jaun te ttaro |156|I am that one from whom the beings of all the three worlds run far away.156.
ਅਨੰਗ ਰੰਗ ਰੰਗ ਕੇ ਸੁਰੰਗ ਬਾਜ ਮੈ ਹਰੇ ॥
anang rang rang ke surang baaj mai hare |Horses of innumerable colors and beautiful forms I have taken away.
ਬਸੇਖ ਰਾਜਸੂਇ ਜਗ ਬਾਜਮੇਧ ਮੈ ਕਰੇ ॥
basekh raajasooe jag baajamedh mai kare |“I have abducted many multi-coloured horses and have performed special Rajsu and Ashvamedha Yajnas
ਨ ਭੂਮਿ ਐਸ ਕੋ ਰਹੀ ਨ ਜਗ ਖੰਭ ਜਾਨੀਯੈ ॥
n bhoom aais ko rahee na jag khanbh jaaneeyai |“You may agree with me that any place or sacrificial column is not unacquainted with me
ਜਗਤ੍ਰ ਕਰਣ ਕਾਰਣ ਕਰਿ ਦੁਤੀਯ ਮੋਹਿ ਮਾਨੀਯੈ ॥੧੫੭॥
jagatr karan kaaran kar duteey mohi maaneeyai |157|You may accept me as the second Lord of the world.157.
ਸੁ ਅਤ੍ਰ ਛਤ੍ਰ ਜੇ ਧਰੇ ਸੁ ਛਤ੍ਰ ਸੂਰ ਸੇਵਹੀ ॥
su atr chhatr je dhare su chhatr soor sevahee |“All the warriors who hold the arms and weapons are my servants
ਅਦੰਡ ਖੰਡ ਖੰਡ ਕੇ ਸੁਦੰਡ ਮੋਹਿ ਦੇਵਹੀ ॥
adandd khandd khandd ke sudandd mohi devahee |I have chopped into bits the unpunishable individuals and many of them are paying tributes to me
ਸੁ ਐਸ ਅਉਰ ਕੌਨ ਹੈ ਪ੍ਰਤਾਪਵਾਨ ਜਾਨੀਐ ॥
su aais aaur kauan hai prataapavaan jaaneeai |So who else is there right now? Who should be well known.
ਤ੍ਰਿਲੋਕ ਆਜ ਕੇ ਬਿਖੈ ਜੋਗਿੰਦਰ ਮੋਹਿ ਮਾਨੀਐ ॥੧੫੮॥
trilok aaj ke bikhai jogindar mohi maaneeai |158|“None is considered glorious like me and O great Yogi! consider me as the chief Administrator in all the three worlds.”158.
ਮਛਿੰਦ੍ਰ ਬਾਚ ਪਾਰਸਨਾਥ ਸੋ ॥

ਕਹਾ ਭਯੋ ਜੋ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਜਗ ਜੀਤਿ ਸੁ ਲੋਗਨ ਕੋ ਬਹੁ ਤ੍ਰਾਸ ਦਿਖਾਯੋ ॥
kahaa bhayo jo sabh hee jag jeet su logan ko bahu traas dikhaayo |“What then, if you have conquered and terrorized the whole world
ਅਉਰ ਕਹਾ ਜੁ ਪੈ ਦੇਸ ਬਿਦੇਸਨ ਮਾਹਿ ਭਲੇ ਗਜ ਗਾਹਿ ਬਧਾਯੋ ॥
aaur kahaa ju pai des bidesan maeh bhale gaj gaeh badhaayo |What then, if you have got all the countries far and near crushed under the feet of your elephants
ਜੋ ਮਨੁ ਜੀਤਤ ਹੈ ਸਭ ਦੇਸ ਵਹੈ ਤੁਮਰੈ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਹਾਥਿ ਨ ਆਯੋ ॥
jo man jeetat hai sabh des vahai tumarai nrip haath na aayo |“You have not got hat mind, which conquers all the countries all the countries
ਲਾਜ ਗਈ ਕਛੁ ਕਾਜ ਸਰ੍ਯੋ ਨਹੀ ਲੋਕ ਗਯੋ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਨ ਪਾਯੋ ॥੧੫੯॥
laaj gee kachh kaaj sarayo nahee lok gayo paralok na paayo |159|You have felt shyful before it several times and in this way, you have not only lost this world, but also the next world.159.
ਭੂਮਿ ਕੋ ਕਉਨ ਗੁਮਾਨ ਹੈ ਭੂਪਤਿ ਸੋ ਨਹੀ ਕਾਹੂੰ ਕੇ ਸੰਗ ਚਲੈ ਹੈ ॥
bhoom ko kaun gumaan hai bhoopat so nahee kaahoon ke sang chalai hai |“O king! Why to be egoistic for the land, which does not accompany anyone on death
ਹੈ ਛਲਵੰਤ ਬਡੀ ਬਸੁਧਾ ਯਹਿ ਕਾਹੂੰ ਕੀ ਹੈ ਨਹ ਕਾਹੂੰ ਹੁਐ ਹੈ ॥
hai chhalavant baddee basudhaa yeh kaahoon kee hai nah kaahoon huaai hai |This earth is a great deceiver, it has not become one’s own uptil today, nor it will become anyone’s own
ਭਉਨ ਭੰਡਾਰ ਸਬੈ ਬਰ ਨਾਰਿ ਸੁ ਅੰਤਿ ਤੁਝੈ ਕੋਊ ਸਾਥ ਨ ਦੈ ਹੈ ॥
bhaun bhanddaar sabai bar naar su ant tujhai koaoo saath na dai hai |“Your treasures and your beautiful women, none of them will accompany you at the end
ਆਨ ਕੀ ਬਾਤ ਚਲਾਤ ਹੋ ਕਾਹੇ ਕਉ ਸੰਗਿ ਕੀ ਦੇਹ ਨ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਿਧੈ ਹੈ ॥੧੬੦॥
aan kee baat chalaat ho kaahe kau sang kee deh na sang sidhai hai |160|Leave all others, even your own body will not accompany you.”160.
ਰਾਜ ਕੇ ਸਾਜ ਕੋ ਕਉਨ ਗੁਮਾਨ ਨਿਦਾਨ ਜੁ ਆਪਨ ਸੰਗ ਨ ਜੈ ਹੈ ॥
raaj ke saaj ko kaun gumaan nidaan ju aapan sang na jai hai |What to talk of this royal paraphernalia, it will also not accompany at the end
ਭਉਨ ਭੰਡਾਰ ਭਰੇ ਘਰ ਬਾਰ ਸੁ ਏਕ ਹੀ ਬਾਰ ਬਿਗਾਨ ਕਹੈ ਹੈ ॥
bhaun bhanddaar bhare ghar baar su ek hee baar bigaan kahai hai |All the places and treasures will become another’s property in an instant
ਪੁਤ੍ਰ ਕਲਤ੍ਰ ਸੁ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਸਖਾ ਕੋਈ ਅੰਤਿ ਸਮੈ ਤੁਹਿ ਸਾਥ ਨ ਦੈ ਹੈ ॥
putr kalatr su mitr sakhaa koee ant samai tuhi saath na dai hai |“The sons, wife and friends etc, none of them will accompany you at the end
ਚੇਤ ਰੇ ਚੇਤ ਅਚੇਤ ਮਹਾ ਪਸੁ ਸੰਗ ਬੀਯੋ ਸੋ ਭੀ ਸੰਗ ਨ ਜੈ ਹੈ ॥੧੬੧॥
chet re chet achet mahaa pas sang beeyo so bhee sang na jai hai |161|O great animal, living in unconscious state! forsake your sleep even now, because your body, which has been born with you, it will also not accompany you.161.
ਕਉਨ ਭਰੋਸ ਭਟਾਨ ਕੋ ਭੂਪਤਿ ਭਾਰ ਪਰੇ ਜਿਨਿ ਭਾਰ ਸਹੈਂਗੇ ॥
kaun bharos bhattaan ko bhoopat bhaar pare jin bhaar sahainge |“You cannot trust these warriors, because all of them will not endure the burden of your actions
ਭਾਜ ਹੈ ਭੀਰ ਭਯਾਨਕ ਹੁਐ ਕਰ ਭਾਰਥ ਸੋ ਨਹੀ ਭੇਰ ਚਹੈਂਗੇ ॥
bhaaj hai bheer bhayaanak huaai kar bhaarath so nahee bher chahainge |They will all run away in front of al the dreadful afflictions
ਏਕ ਉਪਚਾਰ ਨ ਚਾਲ ਹੈ ਰਾਜਨ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਸਬੈ ਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨੀਰ ਬਹੈਂਗੇ ॥
ek upachaar na chaal hai raajan mitr sabai mrit neer bahainge |“None of the measures will be useful to you and all these friends of yours will flow away like the flowing water
ਪੁਤ੍ਰ ਕਲਤ੍ਰ ਸਭੈ ਤੁਮਰੇ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਛੂਟਤ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਮਸਾਨ ਕਹੈਂਗੇ ॥੧੬੨॥
putr kalatr sabhai tumare nrip chhoottat praan masaan kahainge |162|Your sons, your wife, all of them will call you a ghodt.”162.
ਪਾਰਸਨਾਥ ਬਾਚ ਮਛਿੰਦ੍ਰ ਸੋ ॥
paarasanaath baach machhindr so |Speech of Parasnath addressed to Matsyendra :
ਤੋਮਰ ਛੰਦ ॥
tomar chhand |TOMAR STANZA
ਮੁਨਿ ਕਉਨ ਹੈ ਵਹ ਰਾਉ ॥
mun kaun hai vah raau |O Muni! Which king is that?
ਤਿਹ ਆਜ ਮੋਹਿ ਬਤਾਉ ॥
tih aaj mohi bataau |Tell me now.
ਤਿਹ ਜੀਤ ਹੋ ਜਬ ਜਾਇ ॥
tih jeet ho jab jaae |When I go and win him,
ਤਬ ਭਾਖੀਅਉ ਮੁਹਿ ਰਾਇ ॥੧੬੩॥
tab bhaakheeo muhi raae |163|“O sage! tell me, who is that king, whom I should conquer? And then you will call me the greatest Sovereign on all.”163.
ਮਛਿੰਦ੍ਰ ਬਾਚ ਪਾਰਸਨਾਥ ਸੋ ॥

ਤੋਮਰ ਛੰਦ ॥
tomar chhand |TOMAR STANZA
ਸੁਨ ਰਾਜ ਰਾਜਨ ਹੰਸ ॥
sun raaj raajan hans |Oh Hans, the king of kings! listen,
ਭਵ ਭੂਮਿ ਕੇ ਅਵਤੰਸ ॥
bhav bhoom ke avatans |“O Sovereign! you are the greatest on the earth
ਤੁਹਿ ਜੀਤਏ ਸਬ ਰਾਇ ॥
tuhi jeete sab raae |You have won all the kings,
ਪਰ ਸੋ ਨ ਜੀਤਯੋ ਜਾਇ ॥੧੬੪॥
par so na jeetayo jaae |164|You have conquered all the kings, but whatever I am telling you, you have not conquered it.”164.
ਅਬਿਬੇਕ ਹੈ ਤਿਹ ਨਾਉ ॥
abibek hai tih naau |His name is 'Abibek'.
ਤਵ ਹੀਯ ਮੈ ਤਿਹ ਠਾਉ ॥
tav heey mai tih tthaau |“Its name is Avivek (ignorance) and it abides in your heart
ਤਿਹ ਜੀਤ ਕਹੀ ਨ ਭੂਪ ॥
tih jeet kahee na bhoop |He was not conquered by any king.
ਵਹ ਹੈ ਸਰੂਪ ਅਨੂਪ ॥੧੬੫॥
vah hai saroop anoop |165|Regarding its victory, O king! you have not said anything, that also has a unique form.”165.
ਛਪੈ ਛੰਦ ॥
chhapai chhand |CHHAPAI STANZA
ਬਲਿ ਮਹੀਪ ਜਿਨ ਛਲ੍ਯੋ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਬਾਵਨ ਬਸ ਕਿਨੋ ॥
bal maheep jin chhalayo braham baavan bas kino |This Avivek had conquered mighty Bali and had to become sub-servient to Vaman
ਕਿਸਨ ਬਿਸਨ ਜਿਨ ਹਰੇ ਦੰਡ ਰਘੁਪਤਿ ਤੇ ਲਿਨੋ ॥
kisan bisan jin hare dandd raghupat te lino |He destroyed Krishna (Vishnu) and received penalty form Raghupati Ram
ਦਸ ਗ੍ਰੀਵਹਿ ਜਿਨਿ ਹਰਾ ਸੁਭਟ ਸੁੰਭਾਸੁਰ ਖੰਡ੍ਯੋ ॥
das greeveh jin haraa subhatt sunbhaasur khanddayo |Who defeated Ravana and dismembered the mighty Shumbha demon.
ਮਹਖਾਸੁਰ ਮਰਦੀਆ ਮਾਨ ਮਧੁ ਕੀਟ ਬਿਹੰਡ੍ਰਯੋ ॥
mahakhaasur maradeea maan madh keett bihanddrayo |He destroyed Ravana and Jambhasura and killed Mahishasura, Madhu and Kaitabh
ਸੋਊ ਮਦਨ ਰਾਜ ਰਾਜਾ ਨ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਅਬਿਬੇਕ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੀ ਕੀਯੋ ॥
soaoo madan raaj raajaa nripat nrip abibek mantree keeyo |O beautiful king like the god of love! you have made that Avivek you minister,
ਜਿਹ ਦੇਵ ਦਈਤ ਗੰਧ੍ਰਬ ਮੁਨਿ ਜੀਤਿ ਅਡੰਡ ਡੰਡਹਿ ਲੀਯੋ ॥੧੬੬॥
jih dev deet gandhrab mun jeet addandd ddanddeh leeyo |166|Who after conquering the gods, demons, Gandharvas and sages had received tributes from them.166.
ਜਵਨ ਕ੍ਰੁਧ ਜੁਧ ਕਰਣ ਕੈਰਵ ਰਣ ਘਾਏ ॥
javan krudh judh karan kairav ran ghaae |Because of the anger of this Avivek, Karan and Kaurvas were destroyed in the battlefield
ਜਾਸੁ ਕੋਪ ਕੇ ਕੀਨ ਸੀਸ ਦਸ ਸੀਸ ਗਵਾਏ ॥
jaas kop ke keen sees das sees gavaae |Because of its anger, Ravana had to lose all his ten heads
ਜਉਨ ਕ੍ਰੁਧ ਕੇ ਕੀਏ ਦੇਵ ਦਾਨਵ ਰਣਿ ਲੁਝੇ ॥
jaun krudh ke kee dev daanav ran lujhe |Therefore, O the master of he armies! O king! the day when getting enraged,
ਜਾਸੁ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਕੇ ਕੀਨ ਖਸਟ ਕੁਲ ਜਾਦਵ ਜੁਝੇ ॥
jaas krodh ke keen khasatt kul jaadav jujhe |Your Avivek will become out of control, on that day,
