ਤਿਨਿ ਚਉਬਿਸੈ ਫਲ ਹੀਨ ॥
tin chaubisai fal heen |

He, who not recognized the One Lord, the twenty-four are fruitless for him

ਜਿਨ ਏਕ ਕੋ ਪਹਿਚਾਨ ॥
jin ek ko pahichaan |

Those who have recognized one,

ਤਿਨਿ ਚਉਬਿਸੈ ਰਸ ਮਾਨ ॥੪੮੧॥
tin chaubisai ras maan |481|

He, who feels the presence of One and recognizes him, he can feel the happiness of the twenty-four.481.

ਬਚਿਤ੍ਰ ਪਦ ਛੰਦ ॥
bachitr pad chhand |

VICHITRA PAD STANZA

ਏਕਹਿ ਜਉ ਮਨਿ ਆਨਾ ॥
ekeh jau man aanaa |

(who have) brought one to mind

ਦੂਸਰ ਭਾਵ ਨ ਜਾਨਾ ॥
doosar bhaav na jaanaa |

and has not recognized the meaning of duality,

ਦੁੰਦਭਿ ਦਉਰ ਬਜਾਏ ॥
dundabh daur bajaae |

(They) have sounded the bells in the age ('daur').

ਫੂਲ ਸੁਰਨ ਬਰਖਾਏ ॥੪੮੨॥
fool suran barakhaae |482|

The sage absorbed his mind in the One Lord and did not allow any other idea to enter his mind, then the gods showered flowers, beating their drums.482.

ਹਰਖੇ ਸਬ ਜਟ ਧਾਰੀ ॥
harakhe sab jatt dhaaree |

All the Jatadharis (yogis) are enjoying

ਗਾਵਤ ਦੇ ਦੇ ਤਾਰੀ ॥
gaavat de de taaree |

The sages, getting delighted, clapped their hands and began to sing

ਜਿਤ ਤਿਤ ਡੋਲਤ ਫੂਲੇ ॥
jit tith ddolat foole |

Where flowers (happily) move around

ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਕੇ ਸਬ ਦੁਖ ਭੂਲੇ ॥੪੮੩॥
grih ke sab dukh bhoole |483|

They forgot their domestic worries and moved here and there happily.483.

ਤਾਰਕ ਛੰਦ ॥
taarak chhand |

TAARAK STANZA

ਬਹੁ ਬਰਖ ਜਬੈ ਤਪਸਾ ਤਿਹ ਕੀਨੀ ॥
bahu barakh jabai tapasaa tih keenee |

When he did penance for many years

ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਕ੍ਰਿਆ ਜੁ ਕਹੀ ਧਰ ਲੀਨੀ ॥
guradev kriaa ju kahee dhar leenee |

In this way, when the sages performed austerities for many years and did all according to the bidding of their Guru

ਤਬ ਨਾਥ ਸਨਾਥ ਹੁਐ ਬ੍ਯੋਤ ਬਤਾਈ ॥
tab naath sanaath huaai bayot bataaee |

Then Nath told the trick and passed away

ਤਬ ਹੀ ਦਸਓ ਦਿਸਿ ਸੂਝ ਬਨਾਈ ॥੪੮੪॥
tab hee daso dis soojh banaaee |484|

The great sage told them many methods and in this way, they obtained the wisdom of knowledge of all the ten directions.484.

ਦਿਜ ਦੇਵ ਤਬੈ ਗੁਰ ਚਉਬਿਸ ਕੈ ਕੈ ॥
dij dev tabai gur chaubis kai kai |

Then (he) the Brahman god (Datta) made twenty-four gurus

ਗਿਰਿ ਮੇਰ ਗਏ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਮੁਨਿ ਲੈ ਕੈ ॥
gir mer ge sabh hee mun lai kai |

In this way, the sage adopting twenty-four Gurus, went on the Sumeru mountain alongwith other sages

ਤਪਸਾ ਜਬ ਘੋਰ ਤਹਾ ਤਿਨ ਕੀਨੀ ॥
tapasaa jab ghor tahaa tin keenee |

When he did severe penance there,

ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਤਬੈ ਤਿਹ ਯਾ ਸਿਖ ਦੀਨੀ ॥੪੮੫॥
guradev tabai tih yaa sikh deenee |485|

There he performed severe austerities and then the Guru Dutt, gave these instructions to all of them.485.

ਤੋਟਕ ਛੰਦ ॥
tottak chhand |

TOTAK STANZA

ਗਿਰਿ ਮੇਰੁ ਗਏ ਰਿਖਿ ਬਾਲਕ ਲੈ ॥
gir mer ge rikh baalak lai |

Sage (Datta) went to Mount Sumer with all the disciples.

ਧਰ ਸੀਸ ਜਟਾ ਭਗਵੇ ਪਟ ਕੈ ॥
dhar sees jattaa bhagave patt kai |

The sage having matted locks on his head and wearing ochre-coloured clothed on his body, went on the Sumeru mountain alongwith his disciples

ਤਪ ਘੋਰ ਕਰਾ ਬਹੁ ਬਰਖ ਦਿਨਾ ॥
tap ghor karaa bahu barakh dinaa |

For many years (there he) did severe penance

ਹਰਿ ਜਾਪ ਨ ਛੋਰਸ ਏਕ ਛਿਨਾ ॥੪੮੬॥
har jaap na chhoras ek chhinaa |486|

There he performed austerities in various for many years and did not forget the Lord even for an instant.486.

ਦਸ ਲਛ ਸੁ ਬੀਸ ਸਹੰਸ੍ਰ ਬ੍ਰਖੰ ॥
das lachh su bees sahansr brakhan |

For ten lakh and twenty thousand years the sage

ਤਪ ਕੀਨ ਤਹਾ ਬਹੁ ਭਾਤਿ ਰਿਖੰ ॥
tap keen tahaa bahu bhaat rikhan |

There the sages performed austerities in various ways for ten lakh twenty thousand years

ਸਬ ਦੇਸਨ ਦੇਸ ਚਲਾਇ ਮਤੰ ॥
sab desan des chalaae matan |

He carried out his opinion in all the countries.

ਮੁਨਿ ਦੇਵ ਮਹਾ ਮਤਿ ਗੂੜ ਗਤੰ ॥੪੮੭॥
mun dev mahaa mat goorr gatan |487|

Then they propagated the secret doctrines of that great sage in all the countries far and near.487.

ਰਿਖਿ ਰਾਜ ਦਸਾ ਜਬ ਅੰਤ ਭਈ ॥
rikh raaj dasaa jab ant bhee |

When the sage's reign came to an end,

ਬਲ ਜੋਗ ਹੁਤੇ ਮੁਨਿ ਜਾਨ ਲਈ ॥
bal jog hute mun jaan lee |

When the final hour of that great sage arrived, the great sage came to know of it with the strength of Yoga

ਧੂਅਰੋ ਜਗ ਧਉਲੁਰ ਜਾਨਿ ਜਟੀ ॥
dhooaro jag dhaulur jaan jattee |

Muni Yogi ('Jati') knew the world as a house of smoke.

ਕਛੁ ਅਉਰ ਕ੍ਰਿਆ ਇਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਠਟੀ ॥੪੮੮॥
kachh aaur kriaa ih bhaat tthattee |488|

Then that sage with matted locks, considering this world like a cloud of smoke, formulated a plan of another activity.488.

ਸਧਿ ਕੈ ਪਵਨੈ ਰਿਖ ਜੋਗ ਬਲੰ ॥
sadh kai pavanai rikh jog balan |

The sage achieved Sadha by the power of yoga

ਤਜਿ ਚਾਲ ਕਲੇਵਰ ਭੂਮਿ ਤਲੰ ॥
taj chaal kalevar bhoom talan |

Controlling the wind with the strength of Yoga, relinquishing his body left the earth

ਕਲ ਫੋਰਿ ਉਤਾਲ ਕਪਾਲ ਕਲੀ ॥
kal for utaal kapaal kalee |

By breaking the beautiful skull bud of Dasam Dwar

ਤਿਹ ਜੋਤਿ ਸੁ ਜੋਤਿਹ ਮਧ ਮਿਲੀ ॥੪੮੯॥
tih jot su jotih madh milee |489|

Breaking the skull, his light of the soul merged in the supreme light of the Lord.489.

ਕਲ ਕਾਲ ਕ੍ਰਵਾਲ ਕਰਾਲ ਲਸੈ ॥
kal kaal kravaal karaal lasai |

In Kal's hand the beautiful ('Kal') fierce sword shines.

ਜਗ ਜੰਗਮ ਥਾਵਰ ਸਰਬ ਕਸੈ ॥
jag jangam thaavar sarab kasai |

The KAL (death) streches his dreadful sword always o all categories of beings

ਜਗ ਕਾਲਹਿ ਜਾਲ ਬਿਸਾਲ ਰਚਾ ॥
jag kaaleh jaal bisaal rachaa |

Time has created a huge net in the world

ਜਿਹ ਬੀਚ ਫਸੇ ਬਿਨ ਕੋ ਨ ਬਚਾ ॥੪੯੦॥
jih beech fase bin ko na bachaa |490|

It has created the large net of this world, from which none had been able to escape.490.

ਸਵੈਯਾ ॥
savaiyaa |

SWAYYA

ਦੇਸ ਬਿਦੇਸ ਨਰੇਸਨ ਜੀਤਿ ਅਨੇਸ ਬਡੇ ਅਵਨੇਸ ਸੰਘਾਰੇ ॥
des bides naresan jeet anes badde avanes sanghaare |

(Who) conquered foreign kings and killed great generals ('Anes') and kings ('Avanes').

ਆਠੋ ਈ ਸਿਧ ਸਬੈ ਨਵ ਨਿਧਿ ਸਮ੍ਰਿਧਨ ਸਰਬ ਭਰੇ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਸਾਰੇ ॥
aattho ee sidh sabai nav nidh samridhan sarab bhare grih saare |

This KAL (death) has killed the great sovereigns of all the countries and the earth, who had eight powers, nine treasures, all kinds of accomplishments

ਚੰਦ੍ਰਮੁਖੀ ਬਨਿਤਾ ਬਹੁਤੈ ਘਰਿ ਮਾਲ ਭਰੇ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਤ ਸੰਭਾਰੇ ॥
chandramukhee banitaa bahutai ghar maal bhare nahee jaat sanbhaare |

Moon-faced women and unlimited wealth

ਨਾਮ ਬਿਹੀਨ ਅਧੀਨ ਭਏ ਜਮ ਅੰਤਿ ਕੋ ਨਾਗੇ ਹੀ ਪਾਇ ਸਿਧਾਰੇ ॥੪੯੧॥
naam biheen adheen bhe jam ant ko naage hee paae sidhaare |491|

They all left this world with naked feet under the control of Yama, without the remembrance of the Name of the Lord.491.

ਰਾਵਨ ਕੇ ਮਹਿਰਾਵਨ ਕੇ ਮਨੁ ਕੇ ਨਲ ਕੇ ਚਲਤੇ ਨ ਚਲੀ ਗਉ ॥
raavan ke mahiraavan ke man ke nal ke chalate na chalee gau |

Even Ravan and Mehravan were helpless before him
