ਛਿਤ ਮੈ ਡਾਰਿ ਸ੍ਰੋਣ ਕੇ ਰੰਗਾ ॥੧੦॥
chhit mai ddaar sron ke rangaa |10|And the color like blood was thrown on the earth. 10.
ਜਬ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਸਾਥ ਸਜਨ ਕੇ ਗਈ ॥
jab triy saath sajan ke gee |When the queen went with the gentleman,
ਤਬ ਅਸ ਸਖੀ ਪੁਕਾਰਤ ਭਈ ॥
tab as sakhee pukaarat bhee |Then Sakhi started calling like this
ਲਏ ਸਿੰਘ ਰਾਨੀ ਕਹ ਜਾਈ ॥
le singh raanee kah jaaee |that the queen is going to be taken by the lion,
ਕੋਊ ਆਨਿ ਲੇਹੁ ਛੁਟਕਾਈ ॥੧੧॥
koaoo aan lehu chhuttakaaee |11|Someone came and rescued (from him). 11.
ਸੂਰਨ ਸਿੰਘ ਨਾਮ ਸੁਨਿ ਪਾਯੋ ॥
sooran singh naam sun paayo |When the warriors heard the lion's name,
ਤ੍ਰਸਤ ਭਏ ਅਸ ਕਰਨ ਉਚਾਯੋ ॥
trasat bhe as karan uchaayo |So they got scared and drew swords in their hands.
ਜਾਇ ਭੇਦ ਰਾਜਾ ਤਨ ਦਯੋ ॥
jaae bhed raajaa tan dayo |(They) went and told the whole thing to the king
ਲੈ ਕਰਿ ਸਿੰਘ ਰਾਨਿਯਹਿ ਗਯੋ ॥੧੨॥
lai kar singh raaniyeh gayo |12|That the queen has been taken away by a lion. 12.
ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਧੁਨਿ ਸੀਸ ਬਾਇ ਮੁਖ ਰਹਾ ॥
nrip dhun sees baae mukh rahaa |The king shook his head and remained speechless.
ਹੋਨਹਾਰ ਭਯੋ ਹੋਤ ਸੁ ਕਹਾ ॥
honahaar bhayo hot su kahaa |(saying) she has become talented, (now) what can happen.
ਭੇਦ ਅਭੇਦ ਕਛੂ ਨਹਿ ਪਾਯੋ ॥
bhed abhed kachhoo neh paayo |No one has found the secret (of this matter).
ਲੈ ਰਾਨੀ ਕਹ ਜਾਰ ਸਿਧਾਯੋ ॥੧੩॥
lai raanee kah jaar sidhaayo |13|And the friend took Rani and left. 13.

ਉਤਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਨ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਇਕ ਭਾਰੋ ॥
autar singh nripat ik bhaaro |A great king named Uttar Singh
ਉਤਰ ਦਿਸਿ ਕੋ ਰਹਤ ਨ੍ਰਿਪਾਰੋ ॥
autar dis ko rahat nripaaro |He lived in the north direction.
ਉਤਰ ਮਤੀ ਧਾਮ ਤਿਹ ਨਾਰੀ ॥
autar matee dhaam tih naaree |In his house there was a woman named Uttar Mati,
ਜਾ ਸਮ ਕਾਨ ਸੁਨੀ ਨ ਨਿਹਾਰੀ ॥੧॥
jaa sam kaan sunee na nihaaree |1|The like of which has not been heard with the ears nor seen (with the eyes). 1.
ਤਹਾ ਲਹੌਰੀ ਰਾਇਕ ਆਯੋ ॥
tahaa lahauaree raaeik aayo |There came a (person) named Lahori Rai,
ਰੂਪਵਾਨ ਸਭ ਗੁਨਨ ਸਵਾਯੋ ॥
roopavaan sabh gunan savaayo |Who was beautiful and possessed of all qualities.
ਜਬ ਅਬਲਾ ਤਿਹ ਹੇਰਤ ਭਈ ॥
jab abalaa tih herat bhee |When the woman saw him
ਤਤਛਿਨ ਸਭ ਸੁਧਿ ਬੁਧਿ ਤਜਿ ਦਈ ॥੨॥
tatachhin sabh sudh budh taj dee |2|So at that moment he forgot all the pure wisdom. 2.
ਉਰ ਅੰਚਰਾ ਅੰਗਿਯਾ ਨ ਸੰਭਾਰੈ ॥
aur ancharaa angiyaa na sanbhaarai |(From him) the breast-cloth and the armor of the limbs were not being preserved.
ਕਹਬ ਕਛੂ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਕਛੂ ਉਚਾਰੈ ॥
kahab kachhoo hvai kachhoo uchaarai |(She) wanted to say something and said something.
ਪਿਯ ਪਿਯ ਰਟਤ ਸਦਾ ਮੁਖ ਰਹੈ ॥
piy piy rattat sadaa mukh rahai |She always used to say 'Priya Priya' from her mouth
ਨਿਸ ਦਿਨ ਜਲ ਅਖਿਯਾ ਤੇ ਬਹੈ ॥੩॥
nis din jal akhiyaa te bahai |3|And water kept flowing from the eyes day and night. 3.
ਪੂਛਨ ਤਾਹਿ ਰਾਇ ਜਬ ਆਵੈ ॥
poochhan taeh raae jab aavai |When the king came to ask him,
ਮੁਹੌ ਨ ਭਾਖਿ ਉਤਰਹਿ ਦ੍ਰਯਾਵੈ ॥
muhau na bhaakh utareh drayaavai |So she would not give any answer by saying it out of her mouth.
ਝੂਮ ਝੂਮਿ ਝਟ ਦੈ ਛਿਤ ਝਰੈ ॥
jhoom jhoom jhatt dai chhit jharai |(He) would fall on the earth with a thud
ਬਾਰ ਬਾਰ ਪਿਯ ਸਬਦ ਉਚਰੈ ॥੪॥
baar baar piy sabad ucharai |4|And repeatedly uttered the word 'beloved'. 4.
ਅਦਭੁਤ ਹੇਰਿ ਰਾਇ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਰਹੈ ॥
adabhut her raae hvai rahai |The king was surprised to see (this).
ਸਖਿਯਨ ਸੌ ਐਸੀ ਬਿਧਿ ਕਹੈ ॥
sakhiyan sau aaisee bidh kahai |And used to say this to the maids
ਯਾ ਅਬਲਾ ਕੌ ਕਸ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਗਯੋ ॥
yaa abalaa kau kas hvai gayo |What has happened to this Abla
ਜਾ ਤੇ ਹਾਲ ਐਸ ਇਹ ਭਯੋ ॥੫॥
jaa te haal aais ih bhayo |5|Due to which it has become like this. 5.
ਯਾ ਕੌ ਕੌਨ ਜਤਨ ਤਬ ਕਰੈ ॥
yaa kau kauan jatan tab karai |What should be done about it then?
ਜਾ ਤੇ ਯਹ ਰਾਨੀ ਨਹਿ ਮਰੈ ॥
jaa te yah raanee neh marai |By which this queen did not die.
ਜੋ ਵਹ ਮਾਗੈ ਸੋ ਮੈ ਦੈ ਹੌ ॥
jo vah maagai so mai dai hau |Whatever he (the benefactor) asks for, that is what I will give.
ਰਾਨੀ ਨਿਮਿਤਿ ਕਰਵਤਹਿ ਲੈ ਹੌ ॥੬॥
raanee nimit karavateh lai hau |6|(I am) ready to be cut with a saw for the queen. 6.
ਸਿਰ ਕਰਿ ਤਿਹ ਆਗੈ ਜਲ ਭਰੌ ॥
sir kar tih aagai jal bharau |I will pour water on his head
ਬਾਰ ਬਾਰ ਤਾ ਕੇ ਪਗ ਪਰੌ ॥
baar baar taa ke pag parau |And will fall at his feet again and again.
ਜੋ ਰਾਨੀ ਕਾ ਰੋਗ ਮਿਟਾਵੈ ॥
jo raanee kaa rog mittaavai |Who will cure the queen's disease,
ਰਾਨੀ ਸਹਿਤ ਰਾਜ ਕਹ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੭॥
raanee sahit raaj kah paavai |7|May he obtain (my) kingdom along with the queen. 7.
ਜੋ ਰਾਨੀ ਕਾ ਰੋਗੁ ਮਿਟਾਵੈ ॥
jo raanee kaa rog mittaavai |Which will cure the queen's disease.
ਸੋ ਨਰ ਹਮ ਕਹ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਜਿਯਾਵੈ ॥
so nar ham kah bahur jiyaavai |That man will give me life again.
ਅਰਧ ਰਾਜ ਰਾਨੀ ਜੁਤ ਲੇਈ ॥
aradh raaj raanee jut leee |(They even) took half the kingdom with the queen.
ਏਕ ਰਾਤ੍ਰਿ ਹਮ ਕਹ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਦੇਈ ॥੮॥
ek raatr ham kah triy deee |8|For one night (he) should give me the mercy of a woman. 8.
ਏਕ ਦਿਵਸ ਵਹੁ ਰਾਜ ਕਰਾਵੈ ॥
ek divas vahu raaj karaavai |(Whoever heals the queen) may she rule for one day
