ਉਰਬਸਿ ਕੇਰੇ ਰੂਪ ਕੋ ਤਊ ਨ ਪਾਯੋ ਪਾਰ ॥੯॥
aurabas kere roop ko taoo na paayo paar |9|But (he) still could not cross the form of Urbashi. 9.

ਆਯੁਧ ਸਕਲ ਅੰਗ ਕਰੇ ॥
aayudh sakal ang kare |(He) was adorned with weapons on all limbs,
ਸੋਹਤ ਸਭ ਸਾਜਨ ਸੌ ਜਰੇ ॥
sohat sabh saajan sau jare |She decorated her body with many arms and they all were getting praiseworthy looks.
ਹੀਰਨ ਕੀ ਮੁਕਤਾ ਜਗ ਸੋਹੈ ॥
heeran kee mukataa jag sohai |Diamonds and pearls (including her face) were adorned in the world,
ਸਸਿ ਕੋ ਮਨੋ ਤਾਰਿਕਾ ਮੋਹੈ ॥੧੦॥
sas ko mano taarikaa mohai |10|Like the necklace of diamonds, she captivated the world. Like the Moon she enchanted everybody.(10)
ਸਵੈਯਾ ॥

ਆਯੁਧ ਧਾਰਿ ਅਨੂਪਮ ਸੁੰਦਰਿ ਭੂਖਨ ਅੰਗ ਅਜਾਇਬ ਧਾਰੇ ॥
aayudh dhaar anoopam sundar bhookhan ang ajaaeib dhaare |(That) woman was wearing a unique armor and had strange ornaments on her limbs.
ਲਾਲ ਕੋ ਹਾਰ ਲਸੈ ਉਰ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਭਾਨ ਤੇ ਜਾਨੁ ਬਡੇ ਛਬਿਯਾਰੇ ॥
laal ko haar lasai ur bheetar bhaan te jaan badde chhabiyaare |Around (his) neck was shining a necklace of reds, which seemed to be brighter than the sun.
ਮੋਤਿਨ ਕੀ ਲਰਕੈ ਮੁਖ ਪੈ ਮ੍ਰਿਗਨੈਨਿ ਫਬੇ ਮ੍ਰਿਗ ਸੇ ਕਜਰਾਰੇ ॥
motin kee larakai mukh pai mriganain fabe mrig se kajaraare |Strings of pearls (were shining) on his face and the eyes of that Mriglochani were shining like a deer.
ਮੋਹਤ ਹੈ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਕੇ ਚਿਤੈ ਨਿਜ ਹਾਥ ਮਨੋ ਬ੍ਰਿਜਨਾਥ ਸੁਧਾਰੇ ॥੧੧॥
mohat hai sabh hee ke chitai nij haath mano brijanaath sudhaare |11|He was captivating everyone's mind, as if Brajnath (Sri Krishna) himself had taken care of himself. 11.
ਛੋਰਿ ਦਏ ਕਚ ਕਾਧਨ ਊਪਰ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਪਾਗ ਸੌ ਸੀਸ ਸੁਹਾਵੈ ॥
chhor de kach kaadhan aoopar sundar paag sau sees suhaavai |With hair scattered over her shoulders, the turban looked charming on her head.
ਭੂਖਨ ਚਾਰੁ ਲਸੈ ਸਭ ਅੰਗਨ ਭਾਗ ਭਰਿਯੋ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਕਹ ਭਾਵੈ ॥
bhookhan chaar lasai sabh angan bhaag bhariyo sabh hee kah bhaavai |With ornaments sparking on her body, that ‘man’ charmed every person.
ਬਾਲ ਲਖੈ ਕਹਿ ਲਾਲ ਤਿਸੈ ਲਟਕਾਵਤ ਅੰਗਨ ਮੈ ਜਬ ਆਵੈ ॥
baal lakhai keh laal tisai lattakaavat angan mai jab aavai |When she came forward to their courtyards, swinging her posture, the woman felt her fascination.
ਰੀਝਤ ਕੋਟਿ ਸੁਰੀ ਅਸੁਰੀ ਸੁਧਿ ਹੇਰਿ ਛੁਟੈ ਸਤ ਹੂ ਛੁਟ ਜਾਵੈ ॥੧੨॥
reejhat kott suree asuree sudh her chhuttai sat hoo chhutt jaavai |12|Seeing the prostitUte in the guise of a man, thousands of the wives of the gods and the devils felt blissful.(12)
ਭੂਖਨ ਧਾਰਿ ਚੜਿਯੋ ਰਥ ਊਪਰਿ ਬਾਧਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਨ ਨਿਖੰਗ ਬਨਾਯੋ ॥
bhookhan dhaar charriyo rath aoopar baadh kripaan nikhang banaayo |With ornaments on her body she climbed up the chariot brandishing with the sword and the bow.
ਖਾਤ ਤੰਬੋਲ ਬਿਰਾਜਤ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਦੇਵ ਅਦੇਵਨ ਕੋ ਬਿਰਮਾਯੋ ॥
khaat tanbol biraajat sundar dev adevan ko biramaayo |While eating beetle-nuts she put all the gods and devils in whim.
ਬਾਸ ਵ ਨੈਨ ਸਹੰਸ੍ਰਨ ਸੌ ਛਬਿ ਹੇਰਿ ਰਹਿਯੋ ਕਛੁ ਪਾਰ ਨ ਪਾਯੋ ॥
baas v nain sahansran sau chhab her rahiyo kachh paar na paayo |In spite oflooking with his thousands of eyes, Lord Indra could not fathom her beauty.
ਆਪੁ ਬਨਾਇ ਅਨੂਪਮ ਕੋ ਬਿਧਿ ਐਚਿ ਰਹਿਯੋ ਦੁਤਿ ਅੰਤ ਨ ਪਾਯੋ ॥੧੩॥
aap banaae anoopam ko bidh aaich rahiyo dut ant na paayo |13|Brahma, the creator, creating her Himself, could not attain her anention.(13)
ਪਾਨ ਚਬਾਇ ਭਲੀ ਬਿਧਿ ਸਾਥ ਜਰਾਇ ਜਰੈ ਹਥਿਯਾਰ ਬਨਾਏ ॥
paan chabaae bhalee bidh saath jaraae jarai hathiyaar banaae |Well equipped with paan chewing and jointed weapons.
ਅੰਜਨ ਆਂਜਿ ਅਨੂਪਮ ਸੁੰਦਰਿ ਦੇਵ ਅਦੇਵ ਸਭੈ ਬਿਰਮਾਏ ॥
anjan aanj anoopam sundar dev adev sabhai biramaae |(That) Anupam Sundari has beguiled all the demons and gods by putting surma (in the eyes).
ਕੰਠ ਸਿਰੀਮਨਿ ਕੰਕਨ ਕੁੰਡਲ ਹਾਰ ਸੁ ਨਾਰਿ ਹੀਏ ਪਹਿਰਾਏ ॥
kantth sireeman kankan kunddal haar su naar hee pahiraae |That woman is wearing a necklace of beads, bracelets and coils around her neck.
ਕਿੰਨਰ ਜਛ ਭੁਜੰਗ ਦਿਸਾ ਬਿਦਿਸਾਨ ਕੈ ਲੋਕ ਬਿਲੋਕਿਨ ਆਏ ॥੧੪॥
kinar jachh bhujang disaa bidisaan kai lok bilokin aae |14|Kinnar, Yaksha, Bhujang and people from all directions have come to see. 14.
ਇੰਦ੍ਰ ਸਹੰਸ੍ਰ ਬਿਲੋਚਨ ਸੌ ਅਵਿਲੋਕ ਰਹਿਯੋ ਛਬਿ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਆਯੋ ॥
eindr sahansr bilochan sau avilok rahiyo chhab ant na aayo |Indra is not able to see the end of his image even after seeing it with a thousand eyes.
ਸੇਖ ਅਸੇਖਨ ਹੀ ਮੁਖ ਸੌ ਗੁਨ ਭਾਖਿ ਰਹੋ ਪਰੁ ਪਾਰ ਨ ਪਾਯੋ ॥
sekh asekhan hee mukh sau gun bhaakh raho par paar na paayo |Sheshnag is singing praises with countless faces but (he too) is not getting across.
ਰੁਦ੍ਰ ਪਿਯਾਰੀ ਕੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਕੀ ਕੋਰ ਨਿਹਾਰਨ ਕੌ ਮੁਖ ਪੰਚ ਬਨਾਯੋ ॥
rudr piyaaree kee saaree kee kor nihaaran kau mukh panch banaayo |Rudra made five faces to see the core of (that) beloved's sari,
ਪੂਤ ਕਿਯੇ ਖਟ ਚਾਰਿ ਬਿਧੈ ਚਤੁਰਾਨਨ ਯਾਹੀ ਤੇ ਨਾਮੁ ਕਹਾਯੋ ॥੧੫॥
poot kiye khatt chaar bidhai chaturaanan yaahee te naam kahaayo |15|(His) son (Kartikeya) had six faces and Brahma had four faces. That is why he is called four-faced ('Chaturanan'). 15.
ਕੰਚਨ ਕੀਰ ਕਲਾਨਿਧਿ ਕੇਹਰ ਕੋਕ ਕਪੋਤ ਕਰੀ ਕੁਰਰਾਨੇ ॥
kanchan keer kalaanidh kehar kok kapot karee kuraraane |Sona, parrot, moon, lion, chakwa, pigeon and elephant are croaking.
ਕਲਪਦ੍ਰੁਮਕਾ ਅਨੁਜਾ ਕਮਨੀ ਬਿਨੁ ਦਾਰਿਮ ਦਾਮਨਿ ਦੇਖਿ ਬਿਕਾਨੇ ॥
kalapadrumakaa anujaa kamanee bin daarim daaman dekh bikaane |Kalp Brich's sister (Lachmi) and Anar are sold without a trace after seeing her beauty.
ਰੀਝਤ ਦੇਵ ਅਦੇਵ ਸਭੈ ਨਰ ਦੇਵ ਭਏ ਛਬਿ ਹੇਰਿ ਦਿਵਾਨੇ ॥
reejhat dev adev sabhai nar dev bhe chhab her divaane |Seeing (her) all the gods and giants are enraptured and men and gods are bewildered by seeing (her) beauty.
ਰਾਜ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਸੋ ਜਾਨਿ ਪਰੈ ਤਿਹ ਬਾਲ ਕੇ ਅੰਗ ਨ ਜਾਤ ਪਛਾਨੇ ॥੧੬॥
raaj kumaar so jaan parai tih baal ke ang na jaat pachhaane |16|From the parts of that girl, she looked like Raj Kumar, but could not be identified. 16.
ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥
doharaa |dual:
ਦਸ ਸੀਸਨ ਰਾਵਨ ਰਰੇ ਲਿਖਤ ਬੀਸ ਭੁਜ ਜਾਇ ॥
das seesan raavan rare likhat bees bhuj jaae |With ten heads Ravana speaks (of his attributes) and with twenty arms he writes,
ਤਰੁਨੀ ਕੇ ਤਿਲ ਕੀ ਤਊ ਸਕ੍ਯੋ ਨ ਛਬਿ ਕੋ ਪਾਇ ॥੧੭॥
tarunee ke til kee taoo sakayo na chhab ko paae |17|(But still) he could not find the beauty of that woman at all. 17.
ਸਵੈਯਾ ॥
savaiyaa |Self:
ਲਾਲਨ ਕੋ ਸਰਪੇਚ ਬਧ੍ਯੋ ਸਿਰ ਮੋਤਿਨ ਕੀ ਉਰ ਮਾਲ ਬਿਰਾਜੈ ॥
laalan ko sarapech badhayo sir motin kee ur maal biraajai |(He) wears an ornament ('sarpech') studded with reds on his head and a garland of pearls adorns his neck.
ਭੂਖਨ ਚਾਰੁ ਦਿਪੈ ਅਤਿ ਹੀ ਦੁਤਿ ਦੇਖਿ ਮਨੋਜਵ ਕੋ ਮਨੁ ਲਾਜੈ ॥
bhookhan chaar dipai at hee dut dekh manojav ko man laajai |Kama Dev is also moving by seeing the shine of the beautiful jewels.
ਮੋਦ ਬਢੈ ਨਿਰਖੇ ਚਿਤ ਮੈ ਤਨਿਕੇਕ ਬਿਖੈ ਤਨ ਕੋ ਦੁਖ ਭਾਜੈ ॥
mod badtai nirakhe chit mai tanikek bikhai tan ko dukh bhaajai |Seeing (Him) increases the joy in the mind and the pains of the body disappear in an instant.
ਜੋਬਨ ਜੋਤਿ ਜਗੈ ਸੁ ਮਨੋ ਸੁਰਰਾਜ ਸੁਰਾਨ ਕੇ ਭੀਤਰ ਰਾਜੈ ॥੧੮॥
joban jot jagai su mano suraraaj suraan ke bheetar raajai |18|(His) Joban's flame is burning like this, as if Indra is enjoying himself among the gods. 18.
ਛੋਰੈ ਹੈ ਬੰਦ ਅਨੂਪਮ ਸੁੰਦਰਿ ਪਾਨ ਚਬਾਇ ਸਿੰਗਾਰ ਬਨਾਯੋ ॥
chhorai hai band anoopam sundar paan chabaae singaar banaayo |That incomparable beauty has opened the trunks (of Angarkha) and is adorned while chewing paan.
ਅੰਜਨ ਆਂਜਿ ਦੁਹੂੰ ਅਖਿਯਾਨ ਸੁ ਭਾਲ ਮੈ ਕੇਸਰਿ ਲਾਲ ਲਗਾਯੋ ॥
anjan aanj duhoon akhiyaan su bhaal mai kesar laal lagaayo |Surma is worn in both the eyes and red tikka of saffron is applied on the forehead.
ਝੂਮਕ ਦੇਤ ਝੁਕੈ ਝੁਮਕੇ ਕਬਿ ਰਾਮ ਸੁ ਭਾਵ ਭਲੋ ਲਖਿ ਪਾਯੋ ॥
jhoomak det jhukai jhumake kab raam su bhaav bhalo lakh paayo |(His) earrings bend like this when turning (the head), Kavi Ram has naturally thought this meaning,
ਮਾਨਹੁ ਸੌਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਮਨ ਕੋ ਇਕ ਬਾਰਹਿ ਬਾਧਿ ਕੈ ਜੇਲ ਚਲਾਯੋ ॥੧੯॥
maanahu sauatin ke man ko ik baareh baadh kai jel chalaayo |19|It is as if the mind of the sleepless has been bound and sent to prison. 19.
ਹਾਰ ਸਿੰਗਾਰ ਕਰੇ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਤਿਨ ਕੇਸ ਛੁਟੇ ਸਿਰ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਸੁਹਾਵੈ ॥
haar singaar kare sabh hee tin kes chhutte sir sayaam suhaavai |She has done all kinds of adornments and the open black locks are very beautiful on her head.
ਜੋਬਨ ਜੋਤਿ ਜਗੈ ਅਤਿ ਹੀ ਮੁਨਿ ਹੇਰਿ ਡਿਗੈ ਤਪ ਤੇ ਪਛੁਤਾਵੈ ॥
joban jot jagai at hee mun her ddigai tap te pachhutaavai |The flame of (his) job is burning brightly. By seeing (him), the sages are repenting after falling away from doing penance (i.e. being corrupted).
ਕਿੰਨਰ ਜਛ ਭੁਜੰਗ ਦਿਸਾ ਬਿਦਿਸਾਨ ਕੀ ਬਾਲ ਬਿਲੋਕਨ ਆਵੈ ॥
kinar jachh bhujang disaa bidisaan kee baal bilokan aavai |Kinnars, Yakshas, Bhujangs and women of the directions are coming to see (him).
ਗੰਧ੍ਰਬ ਦੇਵ ਅਦੇਵਨ ਕੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਹੇਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭਾ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਬਲ ਜਾਵੈ ॥੨੦॥
gandhrab dev adevan kee triy her prabhaa sabh hee bal jaavai |20|The wives of Gandharvas, gods, giants are all enraptured by seeing (his) light. 20.
