ਭੂਖਨ ਅਉਰ ਜਿਤੋ ਧਨੁ ਹੈ ਪਟ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਜਦੁਬੀਰ ਕੇ ਊਪਰ ਵਾਰੈ ॥
bhookhan aaur jito dhan hai patt sree jadubeer ke aoopar vaarai |All the women of the city now saw Krishna in person and sacrificed their wealth and ornaments on him
ਬੀਰ ਬਡੋ ਅਰਿ ਜੀਤ ਲਯੋ ਰਨਿ ਯੌ ਹਸਿ ਕੈ ਸਬ ਬੈਨ ਉਚਾਰੈ ॥
beer baddo ar jeet layo ran yau has kai sab bain uchaarai |All of them said smilingly, “He has conquered a very great hero in the war
ਸੁੰਦਰ ਤੈਸੋ ਈ ਪਉਰਖ ਮੈ ਕਹਿ ਇਉ ਸਬ ਸੋਕ ਬਿਦਾ ਕਰ ਡਾਰੈ ॥੧੮੮੮॥
sundar taiso ee paurakh mai keh iau sab sok bidaa kar ddaarai |1888|His bravery is as charming as he himself,” saying this all of them abandoned their sorrow.1888.
ਹਸਿ ਕੈ ਪੁਰਿ ਨਾਰਿ ਮੁਰਾਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਰਿ ਸੁ ਬਾਤ ਕਹੈ ਕਛੁ ਨੈਨ ਨਚੈ ਕੈ ॥
has kai pur naar muraar nihaar su baat kahai kachh nain nachai kai |The women of the town looked at Sri Krishna, laughed and rolled their eyes and said these things.
ਜੀਤਿ ਫਿਰੇ ਰਨ ਧਾਮਹਿ ਕੋ ਸੰਗਿ ਬੈਰਨ ਕੇ ਬਹੁ ਜੂਝ ਮਚੈ ਕੈ ॥
jeet fire ran dhaameh ko sang bairan ke bahu joojh machai kai |Seeing Krishna all the women of the city dancing their eyes and smiling said, “Krishna has come back after winning a terrible war,”
ਏ ਈ ਸੁ ਬੈਨ ਕਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਸੋ ਤਬ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਭਨੈ ਕਛੁ ਸੰਕ ਨ ਕੈ ਕੈ ॥
e ee su bain kahai har so tab sayaam bhanai kachh sank na kai kai |Such words (when they) said to Sri Krishna, then they started saying in awe,
ਰਾਧਿਕਾ ਸਾਥ ਹਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਜੈਸੇ ਸੁ ਤੈਸੇ ਹਸੈ ਹਮ ਓਰਿ ਚਿਤੈ ਕੈ ॥੧੮੮੯॥
raadhikaa saath haso prabh jaise su taise hasai ham or chitai kai |1889|Saying this, they also said unhesitatingly, “O Lord! just as you smiled on seeing Radha, you may also smile looking towards us.”1889.
ਇਉ ਜਬ ਬੈਨ ਕਹੈ ਪੁਰ ਬਾਸਨਿ ਤਉ ਹਸਿ ਕੈ ਬ੍ਰਿਜਨਾਥ ਨਿਹਾਰੇ ॥
eiau jab bain kahai pur baasan tau has kai brijanaath nihaare |When the citizens said this, then Krishna began to smile, looking towards all
ਚਾਰੁ ਚਿਤੌਨ ਕਉ ਹੇਰਿ ਤਿਨੋ ਮਨ ਕੇ ਸਬ ਸੋਕ ਸੰਤਾਪ ਬਿਡਾਰੇ ॥
chaar chitauan kau her tino man ke sab sok santaap biddaare |Sensing their charming thoughts, their sorrows and sufferings ended
ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਛਕੀ ਤ੍ਰੀਯ ਭੂਮਿ ਕੇ ਊਪਰ ਝੂਮਿ ਗਿਰੀ ਕਬਿ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਉਚਾਰੇ ॥
prem chhakee treey bhoom ke aoopar jhoom giree kab sayaam uchaare |The women swinging with the sentiments of love, fell down the earth
ਭਉਹ ਕਮਾਨ ਸਮਾਨ ਮਨੋ ਦ੍ਰਿਗ ਸਾਇਕ ਯੌ ਬ੍ਰਿਜ ਨਾਇਕ ਮਾਰੇ ॥੧੮੯੦॥
bhauh kamaan samaan mano drig saaeik yau brij naaeik maare |1890|The eyebrows of Krishna were like the bow and with the speech of the eyesight, he was alluring everyone.1890.
ਉਤ ਸੰਕਿਤ ਹੁਇ ਤ੍ਰੀਯਾ ਧਾਮਿ ਗਈ ਇਤ ਬੀਰ ਸਭਾ ਮਹਿ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਜੂ ਆਯੋ ॥
aut sankit hue treeyaa dhaam gee it beer sabhaa meh sayaam joo aayo |On that side, the women entrapped in the illusive net of love, went to their homes
ਹੇਰਿ ਕੈ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਬ੍ਰਿਜਨਾਥਹਿ ਭੂਪਤਿ ਦਉਰ ਕੈ ਪਾਇਨ ਸੀਸ ਲੁਡਾਯੋ ॥
her kai sree brijanaatheh bhoopat daur kai paaein sees luddaayo |Krishna reached the gathering of warriors, seeing Krishna, the king fell at his feet,
ਆਦਰ ਸੋ ਕਬਿ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਭਨੈ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਲੈ ਸੁ ਸਿੰਘਾਸਨ ਤੀਰ ਬੈਠਾਯੋ ॥
aadar so kab sayaam bhanai nrip lai su singhaasan teer baitthaayo |And got him seated on his throne respectfully
ਬਾਰਨੀ ਲੈ ਰਸੁ ਆਗੇ ਧਰਿਯੋ ਤਿਹ ਪੇਖਿ ਕੈ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਮਹਾ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਯੋ ॥੧੮੯੧॥
baaranee lai ras aage dhariyo tih pekh kai sayaam mahaa sukh paayo |1891|The king presented the extract of Varuni to Krishna, seeing which he was extremely pleased.1891.
ਬਾਰੁਨੀ ਕੇ ਰਸ ਸੌ ਜਬ ਸੂਰ ਛਕੇ ਸਬ ਹੀ ਬਲਿਭਦ੍ਰ ਚਿਤਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
baarunee ke ras sau jab soor chhake sab hee balibhadr chitaariyo |When all the warriors became intoxicated with the liquor, Balaram said
ਸ੍ਰੀ ਬ੍ਰਿਜਰਾਜ ਸਮਾਜ ਮੈ ਬਾਜ ਹਨੇ ਗਜ ਰਾਜ ਨ ਕੋਊ ਬਿਚਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
sree brijaraaj samaaj mai baaj hane gaj raaj na koaoo bichaariyo |After drinking Varuni, Balram told everyone that Krishna had killed the elephants and horses
ਸੋ ਬਿਨੁ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਕੀਯੋ ਛਿਨ ਮੈ ਰਿਸ ਕੈ ਜਿਹ ਬਾਨ ਸੁ ਏਕ ਪ੍ਰਹਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
so bin praan keeyo chhin mai ris kai jih baan su ek prahaariyo |He, who discharged one arrow on Krishna, he was made lifeless by him
ਬੀਰਨ ਬੀਚ ਸਰਾਹਤ ਭਯੋ ਸੁ ਹਲੀ ਯੁਧ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਇਤੋ ਰਨ ਪਾਰਿਯੋ ॥੧੮੯੨॥
beeran beech saraahat bhayo su halee yudh sayaam ito ran paariyo |1892|In this way Balram eulogised the way of fighting of Krishna amongst the warriors.1892.
ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥

ਸਭਾ ਬੀਚ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਸਨ ਸੋ ਹਲੀ ਕਹੈ ਪੁਨਿ ਬੈਨ ॥
sabhaa beech sree krisan so halee kahai pun bain |In the whole assembly, Balarama again spoke to Sri Krishna,
ਅਤਿ ਹੀ ਮਦਰਾ ਸੋ ਛਕੇ ਅਰੁਨ ਭਏ ਜੁਗ ਨੈਨ ॥੧੮੯੩॥
at hee madaraa so chhake arun bhe jug nain |1893|In that gathering, Balram, with red eyes due to the impact of Varuni, said to Krishna,1893
ਸਵੈਯਾ ॥
savaiyaa |SWAYYA
ਦੀਬੋ ਕਛੁ ਮਯ ਪੀਯੋ ਘਨੋ ਕਹਿ ਸੂਰਨ ਸੋ ਇਹ ਬੈਨ ਸੁਨਾਯੋ ॥
deebo kachh may peeyo ghano keh sooran so ih bain sunaayo |(Balram) spoke to all the warriors saying (I have) given a little wine (and himself) drunk a lot.
ਜੂਝਬੋ ਜੂਝ ਕੈ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਤਜੈਬੋ ਜੁਝਾਇਬੋ ਛਤ੍ਰਿਨ ਕੋ ਬਨਿ ਆਯੋ ॥
joojhabo joojh kai praan tajaibo jujhaaeibo chhatrin ko ban aayo |“O warriors! Drink Varuni with pleasure and this is the duty of Kshatriyas to die while fighting
ਬਾਰੁਨੁ ਕਉ ਕਬਿ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਭਨੈ ਕਚੁ ਕੇ ਹਿਤ ਤੋ ਭ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਨਿੰਦ ਕਰਾਯੋ ॥
baarun kau kab sayaam bhanai kach ke hit to bhrig nind karaayo |Bhrigu had spoken against this Varuni (wine) in the episode of Kach-devyani
ਰਾਮ ਕਹੈ ਚਤੁਰਾਨਿਨ ਸੋ ਇਹੀ ਰਸ ਕਉ ਰਸ ਦੇਵਨ ਪਾਯੋ ॥੧੮੯੪॥
raam kahai chaturaanin so ihee ras kau ras devan paayo |1894|(Though this episode is related to Shukracharya), according to the poet Ram, the gods had obtained this extract (ambrosia) from Brahma.1894.
ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥

ਜੈਸੇ ਸੁਖ ਹਰਿ ਜੂ ਕੀਏ ਤੈਸੇ ਕਰੇ ਨ ਅਉਰ ॥
jaise sukh har joo kee taise kare na aaur |No one else can give the kind of happiness that Sri Krishna has given.
ਐਸੋ ਅਰਿ ਜਿਤ ਇੰਦਰ ਸੇ ਰਹਤ ਸੂਰ ਨਿਤ ਪਉਰਿ ॥੧੮੯੫॥
aaiso ar jit indar se rahat soor nit paur |1895|The comfort that was given by Krihsna, none other can give the same, because he conquered such an enemy, on whose feet, the gods like indra kept falling.1895.
ਸਵੈਯਾ ॥

ਰੀਝ ਕੈ ਦਾਨ ਦੀਓ ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਤਿਨ ਮਾਗਨਿ ਕੋ ਨ ਕਹੂੰ ਮਨੁ ਕੀਨੋ ॥
reejh kai daan deeo jin kau tin maagan ko na kahoon man keeno |Those, whom the gifts were given with delight, no desire of begging remained in them
ਕੋਪਿ ਨ ਕਾਹੂ ਸਿਉ ਬੈਨ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਜੁ ਪੈ ਭੂਲ ਪਰੀ ਚਿਤ ਕੈ ਹਸਿ ਦੀਨੋ ॥
kop na kaahoo siau bain kahiyo ju pai bhool paree chit kai has deeno |None of them talked in ire and even if someone faltered, the same was put off smilingly
ਦੰਡ ਨ ਕਾਹੂੰ ਲਯੋ ਜਨ ਤੇ ਖਲ ਮਾਰਿ ਨ ਤਾ ਕੋ ਕਛੂ ਧਨੁ ਛੀਨੋ ॥
dandd na kaahoon layo jan te khal maar na taa ko kachhoo dhan chheeno |No one was punished now the wealth was seized from anyone by killing him
ਜੀਤਿ ਨ ਜਾਨ ਦਯੋ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਕੋ ਅਰਿ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਬ੍ਰਿਜਰਾਜ ਇਹੈ ਬ੍ਰਤ ਲੀਨੋ ॥੧੮੯੬॥
jeet na jaan dayo grih ko ar sree brijaraaj ihai brat leeno |1896|Krishna had also vowed that none should go back after becoming victorious.1896.
ਜੋ ਭੂਅ ਕੋ ਨਲ ਰਾਜ ਭਏ ਕਬਿ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਕਹੈ ਸੁਖ ਹਾਥਿ ਨ ਆਯੋ ॥
jo bhooa ko nal raaj bhe kab sayaam kahai sukh haath na aayo |The comfort that was not obtained by the king Nal on becoming the sovereign of the earth
ਸੋ ਸੁਖੁ ਭੂਮਿ ਨ ਪਾਯੋ ਤਬੈ ਮੁਰ ਮਾਰਿ ਜਬੈ ਜਮ ਧਾਮਿ ਪਠਾਯੋ ॥
so sukh bhoom na paayo tabai mur maar jabai jam dhaam patthaayo |The comfort that was not obtained by the earth after killing the demon named Mur
ਜੋ ਹਰਿਨਾਕਸ ਭ੍ਰਾਤ ਸਮੇਤ ਭਯੋ ਸੁਪਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਿਥੁ ਨ ਦਰਸਾਯੋ ॥
jo harinaakas bhraat samet bhayo supane prith na darasaayo |The happiness that was not sighted on the killing of Hiranayakshipu,
ਸੋ ਸੁਖੁ ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਕੀ ਜੀਤ ਭਏ ਅਪਨੇ ਚਿਤ ਮੈ ਪੁਹਮੀ ਅਤਿ ਪਾਯੋ ॥੧੮੯੭॥
so sukh kaanrah kee jeet bhe apane chit mai puhamee at paayo |1897|That comfort was obtained by the earth in her mind on the victory of Krishna.1897.
ਜੋਰਿ ਘਟਾ ਘਨਘੋਰ ਘਨੈ ਜੁਰਿ ਗਾਜਤ ਹੈ ਕੋਊ ਅਉਰ ਨ ਗਾਜੈ ॥
jor ghattaa ghanaghor ghanai jur gaajat hai koaoo aaur na gaajai |Decorating their weapons on their limbs, the warriors are thundering like the thick clouds
ਆਯੁਧ ਸੂਰ ਸਜੈ ਅਪਨੇ ਕਰਿ ਆਨ ਨ ਆਯੁਧ ਅੰਗਹਿ ਸਾਜੈ ॥
aayudh soor sajai apane kar aan na aayudh angeh saajai |The drums that are played at the door of someone on the occasion of marriage,
ਦੁੰਦਭਿ ਦੁਆਰ ਬਜੈ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੇ ਬਿਨੁ ਬ੍ਯਾਹ ਨ ਕਾਹੂੰ ਕੇ ਦੁਆਰਹਿ ਬਾਜੈ ॥
dundabh duaar bajai prabh ke bin bayaah na kaahoon ke duaareh baajai |They were being played on the doors of Krishna
ਪਾਪ ਨ ਹੋ ਕਹੂੰ ਪੁਰ ਮੈ ਜਿਤ ਹੀ ਕਿਤ ਧਰਮ ਹੀ ਧਰਮ ਬਿਰਾਜੈ ॥੧੮੯੮॥
paap na ho kahoon pur mai jit hee kit dharam hee dharam biraajai |1898|There was righteousness reigning supreme within the city and the sin could not be seen anywhere.1898.
ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥

ਕ੍ਰਿਸਨ ਜੁਧ ਜੋ ਹਉ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਅਤਿ ਹੀ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਨੇਹ ॥
krisan judh jo hau kahiyo at hee sang saneh |I have described with affection this war of Krishna
ਜਿਹ ਲਾਲਚ ਇਹ ਮੈ ਰਚਿਯੋ ਮੋਹਿ ਵਹੈ ਬਰੁ ਦੇਹਿ ॥੧੮੯੯॥
jih laalach ih mai rachiyo mohi vahai bar dehi |1899|O Lord! The temptation for which I have related it, kindly bestow on me that boon.1899.
