ਸਵੈਯਾ ॥
savaiyaa |SWAYYA
ਮਾਧਵ ਊਧਵ ਲੈ ਅਪਨੇ ਸੰਗਿ ਏਕ ਸਮੈ ਕੁਬਿਜਾ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਆਏ ॥
maadhav aoodhav lai apane sang ek samai kubijaa grih aae |Once Krishna, taking Udhava alongwith him, came to the house of Kubja
ਏ ਸੁਨਿ ਆਗੇ ਹੀ ਆਏ ਲਏ ਮਨ ਭਾਵਤ ਦੇਖਿ ਸਭੈ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਏ ॥
e sun aage hee aae le man bhaavat dekh sabhai sukh paae |Kubja seeing Krishna coming, advanced and welcomed him, thereby getting great happiness
ਲੈ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਜੁਗ ਪੰਕਜ ਪਾਇਨ ਸੀਸ ਢੁਲਾਇ ਰਹੀ ਲਪਟਾਏ ॥
lai har ke jug pankaj paaein sees dtulaae rahee lapattaae |(Then) taking the two lotus feet of Sri Krishna (in her hands), she placed (her) head (and embraced them).
ਐਸੋ ਹੁਲਾਸ ਬਢਿਯੋ ਜੀਯ ਮੋ ਜਿਮ ਚਾਤ੍ਰਿਕ ਮੋਰ ਘਟਾ ਘਹਰਾਏ ॥੯੮੬॥
aaiso hulaas badtiyo jeey mo jim chaatrik mor ghattaa ghaharaae |986|She bowed at the feet of Krishna and became so much pleased in her mind, just as the peacock is pleased on seeing the clouds.986.
ਊਚ ਅਵਾਸ ਬਨਿਯੋ ਅਤਿ ਸੁਭ੍ਰਮ ਈਗਰ ਰੰਗ ਕੇ ਚਿਤ੍ਰ ਬਨਾਏ ॥
aooch avaas baniyo at subhram eegar rang ke chitr banaae |Her abode is extremely beautiful, having paintings of red colour
ਚੰਦਨ ਧੂਪ ਕਦੰਬ ਕਲੰਬਕ ਦੀਪਕ ਦੀਪ ਤਹਾ ਦਰਸਾਏ ॥
chandan dhoop kadanb kalanbak deepak deep tahaa darasaae |There the sandalwood, aggar, trees of Kadamb and earthen lamps were also seen
ਲੈ ਪਰਜੰਕ ਤਹਾ ਅਤਿ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਸਵਛ ਸੁ ਮਉਰ ਸੁਗੰਧ ਬਿਛਾਏ ॥
lai parajank tahaa at sundar savachh su maur sugandh bichhaae |There is a handsome sleeping couch, on which a fancy bed hs been spread
ਦੋ ਕਰ ਜੋਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਨਾਮ ਕਰਿਯੋ ਤਬ ਕੇਸਵ ਤਾ ਪਰ ਆਨਿ ਬੈਠਾਏ ॥੯੮੭॥
do kar jor pranaam kariyo tab kesav taa par aan baitthaae |987|Kubja greeted Krishna with folded hands and got him seated on the couch.987.

ਰਤਨ ਖਚਤ ਪੀੜਾ ਬਹੁਰ ਲ੍ਯਾਈ ਭਗਤਿ ਜਨਾਇ ॥
ratan khachat peerraa bahur layaaee bhagat janaae |Then Bhakti brought a stone studded with gems expressing devotion.
ਊਧਵ ਜੀ ਸੋ ਯੌ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਬੈਠਹੁ ਯਾ ਪਰ ਆਇ ॥੯੮੮॥
aoodhav jee so yau kahiyo baitthahu yaa par aae |988|Then she brought a seat studded with jewels and requested Udhava to sit on it.988.

ਊਧਵ ਜੀ ਕੁਬਜਾ ਸੋ ਕਹੈ ਨਿਜੁ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਲਖੀ ਅਤਿ ਹੀ ਤੁਮਰੀ ਮੈ ॥
aoodhav jee kubajaa so kahai nij preet lakhee at hee tumaree mai |Udhava said to Kubja that he had noticed her extremely profound love
ਹਉ ਅਤਿ ਦੀਨ ਅਧੀਨ ਅਨਾਥ ਨ ਬੈਠ ਸਕਉ ਸਮੁਹਾਇ ਹਰੀ ਮੈ ॥
hau at deen adheen anaath na baitth skau samuhaae haree mai |He added that he was very lowly and poor and could not sit in front of Lord Krishna
ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਪ੍ਰਤਾਪ ਤਬੈ ਉਠਿ ਪੀੜੇ ਕਉ ਦੀਨ ਉਠਾਇ ਕੇ ਵਾਹੀ ਘਰੀ ਮੈ ॥
kaanrah prataap tabai utth peerre kau deen utthaae ke vaahee gharee mai |Then (to show the splendor of Sri Krishna) he got up at the same time and gave away the generation.
ਪੈ ਇਤਨੋ ਕਰਿ ਕੈ ਭੂਅ ਬੈਠਿ ਰਹਿਯੋ ਗਹਿ ਪਾਇਨ ਨੇਹ ਛਰੀ ਮੈ ॥੯੮੯॥
pai itano kar kai bhooa baitth rahiyo geh paaein neh chharee mai |989|Feeling glory of Krishna, he put the seat aside and holding the feet of Krishna in his hands with affection, he sat down on the earth.989.
ਜੇ ਪਦ ਪੰਕਜ ਸੇਸ ਮਹੇਸ ਸੁਰੇਸ ਦਿਨੇਸ ਨਿਸੇਸ ਨ ਪਾਏ ॥
je pad pankaj ses mahes sures dines nises na paae |Those who could not get Charan-Kamal Sheshnaga, Sahesh, Indra, Sun and Moon.
ਜੇ ਪਦ ਪੰਕਜ ਬੇਦ ਪੁਰਾਨ ਬਖਾਨਿ ਪ੍ਰਮਾਨ ਕੈ ਗ੍ਯਾਨ ਨ ਗਾਏ ॥
je pad pankaj bed puraan bakhaan pramaan kai gayaan na gaae |The feet, which could not be attained by Sheshanaga, Shiva, the sun and the moon and whose glory has been narrated in Vedas, Puranas etc.
ਜੇ ਪਦ ਪੰਕਜ ਸਿਧ ਸਮਾਧਿ ਮੈ ਸਾਧਤ ਹੈ ਮਨਿ ਮੋਨ ਲਗਾਏ ॥
je pad pankaj sidh samaadh mai saadhat hai man mon lagaae |The lotus feet which the Siddhas cultivate in samadhi and the sages meditate in silence.
ਜੇ ਪਦ ਪੰਕਜ ਕੇਸਵ ਕੇ ਅਬ ਊਧਵ ਲੈ ਕਰ ਮੈ ਸਹਰਾਏ ॥੯੯੦॥
je pad pankaj kesav ke ab aoodhav lai kar mai saharaae |990|Those feet, on which the adepts meditate in their trance, now Udhava is pressing those feet with great affection.990.
ਸੰਤ ਸਹਾਰਤ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਕੇ ਪਾਇ ਮਹਾ ਬਿਗਸਿਯੋ ਮਨ ਭੀਤਰ ਸੋਊ ॥
sant sahaarat sayaam ke paae mahaa bigasiyo man bheetar soaoo |The saints who develop extremely on the spiritual plane, they only endure the Glory of Lord’s feet
ਜੋਗਨ ਕੇ ਜੋਊ ਧ੍ਯਾਨ ਕੇ ਬੀਚ ਨ ਆਵਤ ਹੈ ਅਤਿ ਬ੍ਯਾਕੁਲ ਹੋਊ ॥
jogan ke joaoo dhayaan ke beech na aavat hai at bayaakul hoaoo |Those feet, which are not observed in the meditation by the impatient Yogis,
ਜਾ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾਦਿਕ ਸੇਸ ਸੁਰਾਦਿਕ ਖੋਜਤ ਅੰਤਿ ਨ ਪਾਵਤ ਕੋਊ ॥
jaa brahamaadik ses suraadik khojat ant na paavat koaoo |Those (feet-lotus) have exhausted their search for Brahma etc., Sheshnaga, Devata etc., but could not find any end.
ਸੋ ਪਦ ਕੰਜਨ ਕੀ ਸਮ ਤੁਲਿ ਪਲੋਟਤ ਊਧਵ ਲੈ ਕਰਿ ਦੋਊ ॥੯੯੧॥
so pad kanjan kee sam tul palottat aoodhav lai kar doaoo |991|And whose mystery has not been understood by Brahma, Indra, Sheshanaga etc., those lotus-feet are now being pressed by Udhava with his hands.991.
ਇਤ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਪਲੋਟਤ ਊਧਵ ਪਾਇ ਉਤੈ ਉਨ ਮਾਲਨਿ ਸਾਜ ਕੀਏ ॥
eit sayaam palottat aoodhav paae utai un maalan saaj kee |On this side Udhava is pressing the feet of Krishna, on the other side the female gardener Kubja bedecked herself
ਸੁਭ ਬਜ੍ਰਨ ਕੇ ਅਰੁ ਲਾਲ ਜਵਾਹਰ ਦੇਖਿ ਜਿਸੈ ਸੁਖ ਹੋਤ ਜੀਏ ॥
subh bajran ke ar laal javaahar dekh jisai sukh hot jee |She wore the comfort-giving precious stones like rubies, gems etc.,
ਇਤਨੇ ਪਹਿ ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਪੈ ਆਇ ਗਈ ਬਿੰਦੁਰੀ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਈਗਰ ਭਾਲਿ ਦੀਏ ॥
eitane peh kaanrah pai aae gee binduree kahiyo eegar bhaal dee |And applying the mark on the forehead and putting vermilion in the parting of the hair, she went and sat near Krishna
ਤਿਹ ਰੂਪ ਨਿਹਾਰਿ ਹੁਲਾਸ ਬਢਿਯੋ ਕਬਿ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਕਹੈ ਜਦੁਬੀਰ ਹੀਏ ॥੯੯੨॥
tih roop nihaar hulaas badtiyo kab sayaam kahai jadubeer hee |992|Seeing her beauty and elegance, Krishna was very much pleased in his mind.992.
ਸਜਿ ਸਾਜਨ ਮਾਲਨਿ ਅੰਗਨ ਮੈ ਅਤਿ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਸੋ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਸ ਗਈ ॥
saj saajan maalan angan mai at sundar so har paas gee |Malana came to Sri Krishna, adorned in her limbs and (being) very beautiful.
ਮਨੋ ਦੂਸਰਿ ਚੰਦ੍ਰਕਲਾ ਪ੍ਰਗਟੀ ਮਨੋ ਹੇਰਤ ਕੈ ਇਹ ਰੂਪ ਮਈ ॥
mano doosar chandrakalaa pragattee mano herat kai ih roop mee |After bedecking herself, the female gardener Kubja went to Krishna and appeared the second manifestation of Chandarkala
ਹਰਿ ਜੂ ਲਖਿ ਕੈ ਜੀਯ ਕੀ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਕਬਿ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਕਹੈ ਸੋਊ ਐਚ ਲਈ ॥
har joo lakh kai jeey kee birathaa kab sayaam kahai soaoo aaich lee |Feeling the distress of the mind of Kubja, Krishna pulled her towards himself
ਤਿਹ ਊਪਰਿ ਬੈਸਿ ਅਸੰਕ ਭਈ ਮਨ ਕੀ ਸਭ ਸੰਕ ਪਰਾਇ ਗਈ ॥੯੯੩॥
tih aoopar bais asank bhee man kee sabh sank paraae gee |993|Kubja also sitting in the embrace of Krishna abandoned her shyness and all her hesitations ended.993.
ਬਹੀਯਾ ਜਬ ਹੀ ਗਹਿ ਸ੍ਯਾਮਿ ਲਈ ਕੁਬਿਜਾ ਅਤਿ ਹੀ ਮਨ ਮੈ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਯੋ ॥
baheeyaa jab hee geh sayaam lee kubijaa at hee man mai sukh paayo |When Krishna caught hold of the arm of Kubja, she felt extreme delight
ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਮਿਲੇ ਬਹੁਤੇ ਦਿਨ ਮੈ ਹਮ ਕਉ ਕਹਿ ਕੈ ਇਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਸੁਨਾਯੋ ॥
sayaam mile bahute din mai ham kau keh kai ih bhaat sunaayo |She said audibly, “O Krishna! you have met me after many days
ਚੰਦਨ ਜਿਉ ਤੁਹਿ ਅੰਗ ਮਲਿਯੋ ਤਿਹ ਤੇ ਹਮ ਹੂੰ ਜਦੁਬੀਰ ਰਿਝਾਯੋ ॥
chandan jiau tuhi ang maliyo tih te ham hoon jadubeer rijhaayo |Just as Sri Krishna has made me happy today by rubbing sandalwood on your body.
ਜੋਊ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਥੋ ਜੀਯ ਮੈ ਤੁਮਰੇ ਮਿਲਏ ਸੋਊ ਮੋ ਕਰਿ ਆਯੋ ॥੯੯੪॥
joaoo manorath tho jeey mai tumare mile soaoo mo kar aayo |994|“I have rubbed the sandal on my limbs for thy sake, O the hero of Yadavas, for your pleasure and now on meeting you, I have attained the objective of my mind.”994.
ਇਤਿ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਬਚਿਤ੍ਰ ਨਾਟਕ ਗ੍ਰੰਥੇ ਕੁਬਜਾ ਕੇ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਜਾ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਪੂਰਨ ਸਮਾਪਤੰ ॥
eit sree bachitr naattak granthe kubajaa ke grih jaa manorath pooran samaapatan |End of the description of “Fulfilling the objective of Kubja on going to her house” in Bachittar Natak.
ਅਥ ਅਕ੍ਰੂਰ ਕੇ ਧਾਮ ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਜੂ ਆਏ ॥
ath akraoor ke dhaam kaanrah joo aae |Now begins the description of Krishna’s visit to the house of Akrur
ਸਵੈਯਾ ॥

ਦੈ ਸੁਖ ਮਾਲਨਿ ਕਉ ਅਤਿ ਹੀ ਅਕ੍ਰੂਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਫਿਰ ਧਾਮਿ ਪਧਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
dai sukh maalan kau at hee akraooreh ke fir dhaam padhaariyo |After giving Malan a lot of happiness, they then went to Akrur's house. Hearing (Krishna's) approach, he started on his feet,
ਆਵਤ ਸੋ ਸੁਨਿ ਪਾਇ ਲਗਿਯੋ ਤਿਹ ਮਧਿ ਚਲੋ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਚਿਤਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
aavat so sun paae lagiyo tih madh chalo har prem chitaariyo |After imparting pleasure to Kubja, then Krishna went to the house of Akrur hearing about his arrival, he came to fall at his feet
ਸੋ ਗਹਿ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਕੇ ਪਾਇ ਰਹਿਯੋ ਕਬਿ ਨੇ ਮੁਖ ਤੇ ਇਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਉਚਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
so geh sayaam ke paae rahiyo kab ne mukh te ih bhaat uchaariyo |Then he took hold of Sri Krishna's feet, (that scene) the poet has pronounced thus from the mouth.
ਊਧਵ ਸੋ ਜਦੁਬੀਰ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਇਨ ਸੰਤਨ ਕੋ ਅਤਿ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਨਿਹਾਰਿਯੋ ॥੯੯੫॥
aoodhav so jadubeer kahiyo in santan ko at prem nihaariyo |995|When he was lying at the feet of Krishna, seeing him, he said to Udhava, “The love of the saints of this type is also profound, I have felt it.”995.
ਊਧਵ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਸੁਨ ਕੈ ਅਕ੍ਰੂਰਹਿ ਕੋ ਅਤਿ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਨਿਹਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
aoodhav sayaam kahiyo sun kai akraooreh ko at prem nihaariyo |After listening to Krishna, Udhav saw Akrur's immense love.
ਸੁਧਿ ਕਰੀ ਉਨ ਕੀ ਮਨ ਮੈ ਕੁਬਿਜਾ ਕੋ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਅਰੁ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਚਿਤਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
sudh karee un kee man mai kubijaa ko kahiyo ar prem chitaariyo |Krishna said to Udhava, “Seeing the love of Akrur, I have become conscious of the love of Kubja
ਸੋ ਗਨਤੀ ਕਰਿ ਕੈ ਮਨ ਮੈ ਕਨ੍ਰਹੀਯਾ ਸੰਗਿ ਪੈ ਇਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਉਚਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
so ganatee kar kai man mai kanraheeyaa sang pai ih bhaat uchaariyo |After pondering in his mind, he told Krishna to say like this.
ਹੇ ਹਰਿ ਜੂ ਇਹ ਕੇ ਪਿਖਏ ਉਨ ਕੇ ਸਭ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਬਿਦਾ ਕਰਿ ਡਾਰਿਯੋ ॥੯੯੬॥
he har joo ih ke pikhe un ke sabh prem bidaa kar ddaariyo |996|Seeing this and reflecting on this Udhava said, “He is exhibiting so much love, before which the love of Kubja is insignificant.”996.
