ਭਾਖਤ ਭੇ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਸੋ ਭਜੀਐ ਬਚ ਹੈ ਨ ਕੋਊ ਬ੍ਰਿਜਨਾਥ ਕੇ ਆਗੇ ॥੨੨੧੮॥
bhaakhat bhe nrip so bhajeeai bach hai na koaoo brijanaath ke aage |2218|“No one will survive before Krishna, O king! we should run away.”2218.
ਭੀਰ ਪਰੀ ਜਬ ਭੂਪਤਿ ਪੈ ਤਬ ਆਪਨੇ ਜਾਨ ਕੈ ਈਸ ਨਿਹਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
bheer paree jab bhoopat pai tab aapane jaan kai ees nihaariyo |When a crowd formed on the king, he turned to Shiva knowing his (assistant).
ਸੰਤ ਸਹਾਇ ਕੋ ਜਾਇ ਭਿਰਿਯੋ ਬ੍ਰਿਜ ਨਾਇਕ ਸੋ ਚਿਤ ਬੀਚ ਬਿਚਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
sant sahaae ko jaae bhiriyo brij naaeik so chit beech bichaariyo |When the king found himself in calamitous state, he remembered Shiva and Shiva also felt that the king had come to fight with Krishna, the supporter of the saints
ਆਯੁਧ ਲੈ ਅਪਨੇ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਹਰਿ ਓਰ ਸੁ ਜੁਧ ਕੇ ਕਾਜ ਸਿਧਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
aayudh lai apane sabh hee har or su judh ke kaaj sidhaariyo |He taking his weapons in his hands went towards Krishna for fighting
ਆਵਤ ਹੀ ਸੁ ਕਹੋ ਅਬ ਹਉ ਜਿਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਦੁਹੂ ਤਿਹ ਠਾ ਰਨ ਪਾਰਿਯੋ ॥੨੨੧੯॥
aavat hee su kaho ab hau jih bhaat duhoo tih tthaa ran paariyo |2219|Now I relate how he waged a dreadful war.2219.
ਰੁਦ੍ਰ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਰੁਦ੍ਰ ਜਬੈ ਰਨ ਮੈ ਕਬਿ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਭਨੈ ਰਿਸਿ ਨਾਦ ਬਜਾਯੋ ॥
rudr hvai rudr jabai ran mai kab sayaam bhanai ris naad bajaayo |Poet Shyam says, Rudra was angry when he took a terrible form and played the Naad.
ਸੂਰ ਨ ਕਾਹੂੰ ਤੇ ਨੈਕੁ ਟਿਕਿਯੋ ਗਯੋ ਭਾਜ ਗਏ ਨ ਰਤੀ ਕੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਯੋ ॥
soor na kaahoon te naik ttikiyo gayo bhaaj ge na ratee ku drirraayo |When in extreme anger, Shiva blew his war-arena, then none of the warriors could stay there even for a very short time
ਸਤ੍ਰਨ ਕੇ ਦੁਹੂ ਸਤ੍ਰਨ ਸੰਗ ਲੈ ਰੋਖ ਹਲੀ ਸੁ ਸੋਊ ਡਰ ਪਾਯੋ ॥
satran ke duhoo satran sang lai rokh halee su soaoo ddar paayo |The enemy (Banasur) and his other companions were frightened away by Balarama in anger.
ਸ੍ਰੀ ਬ੍ਰਿਜਨਾਥ ਸੋ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਭਨੈ ਤਬ ਹੀ ਸਿਵ ਆਇ ਕੈ ਜੁਧੁ ਮਚਾਯੋ ॥੨੨੨੦॥
sree brijanaath so sayaam bhanai tab hee siv aae kai judh machaayo |2220|The enemies from both sides became fearful, when Shiva began his fight with Krishna.2220.
ਜੇ ਸਭ ਘਾਇ ਚਲਾਵਤ ਭਯੋ ਸਿਵ ਤੇ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਬ੍ਰਿਜਨਾਥ ਬਚਾਏ ॥
je sabh ghaae chalaavat bhayo siv te sabh hee brijanaath bachaae |Lord Krishna saved all of them from Shiva's attacks.
ਤਉਨ ਸਮੈ ਸਿਵ ਕੋ ਆਪੁਨੇ ਸਭ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਭਨੇ ਤਕਿ ਘਾਇ ਲਗਾਏ ॥
taun samai siv ko aapune sabh sayaam bhane tak ghaae lagaae |Krishna saved himself form the blows of Shiva and making Shiva as target, he wounded him
ਜੁਧੁ ਕੀਯੋ ਬਹੁ ਭਾਤਿ ਦੁਹੂ ਜਿਹ ਕੋ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਸੁਰ ਦੇਖਨ ਆਏ ॥
judh keeyo bahu bhaat duhoo jih ko sabh hee sur dekhan aae |Both of them have fought many kinds of war which all the gods have come to see.
ਅੰਤਿ ਖਿਸਾਇ ਰਿਸਾਇ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਨਿਧਿ ਏਕ ਗਦਾ ਹੂੰ ਸੋ ਰੁਦ੍ਰ ਗਿਰਾਏ ॥੨੨੨੧॥
ant khisaae risaae kripaanidh ek gadaa hoon so rudr giraae |2221|Both of them fought in different ways and the gods came there to see that war and ultimately, Krishna caused highly angry Shiva to fall down with the blow of his mace.2221.
ਚੌਪਈ ॥
chauapee |CHAUPAI
ਜਬ ਰੁਦ੍ਰਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਘਾਇ ਲਗਾਯੋ ॥
jab rudreh har ghaae lagaayo |When Rudra was injured by Sri Krishna
ਬਿਸੁਧੋ ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਭੂਮਿ ਗਿਰਾਯੋ ॥
bisudho kar kar bhoom giraayo |In this way, when Krishna wounded Shiva and knocked him down on the earth,
ਸੰਕਿਤ ਭਯੋ ਨ ਫਿਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਤਾਨਿਯੋ ॥
sankit bhayo na fir dhan taaniyo |Who also became fearful and then he did not pull his bow
ਸ੍ਰੀ ਜਦੁਬੀਰ ਸਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਜਾਨਿਯੋ ॥੨੨੨੨॥
sree jadubeer sahee prabh jaaniyo |2222|He recognised Krishna in his real form as the Lord (God).2222.
ਸੋਰਠਾ ॥
soratthaa |SORTHA
ਰੁਦ੍ਰ ਕੋਪ ਦਯੋ ਤ੍ਯਾਗ ਜਦੁਪਤਿ ਕੋ ਬਲੁ ਹੇਰ ਕੈ ॥
rudr kop dayo tayaag jadupat ko bal her kai |Seeing the strength of Sri Krishna, Shiva released his anger.
ਪਾਇਨ ਲਾਗਿਯੋ ਆਇ ਰਹਿਯੋ ਚਰਨ ਗਹਿ ਹਰ ਦੋਊ ॥੨੨੨੩॥
paaein laagiyo aae rahiyo charan geh har doaoo |2223|Seeing the power of Krishna, Shiva forsook his anger, and fell at the feet of Krishna.2223.
ਸਵੈਯਾ ॥
savaiyaa |SWAYYA
ਰੁਦ੍ਰ ਕੀ ਦੇਖਿ ਦਸਾ ਇਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਸੁ ਆਪਹਿ ਜੁਧੁ ਕੋ ਭੂਪਤਿ ਆਯੋ ॥
rudr kee dekh dasaa ih bhaat su aapeh judh ko bhoopat aayo |Seeing this condition of Shiva, the king came himself for fighting
ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਭਨੈ ਦਸ ਸੈ ਭੁਜ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਕੇ ਊਪਰ ਬਾਨਨ ਓਘ ਚਲਾਯੋ ॥
sayaam bhanai das sai bhuj sayaam ke aoopar baanan ogh chalaayo |He discharged showers of arrows with all his one thousand arms
ਓਘ ਜੋ ਆਵਤ ਬਾਨਨ ਕੋ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਹਰਿ ਮਾਰਗ ਮੈ ਨਿਵਰਾਯੋ ॥
ogh jo aavat baanan ko sabh hee har maarag mai nivaraayo |Krishna intercepted the coming arrows midway, making them passive
ਸਾਰੰਗ ਆਪੁਨ ਹਾਥ ਬਿਖੈ ਧਰਿ ਕੈ ਅਰਿ ਕੋ ਬਹੁ ਘਾਇਨ ਘਾਯੋ ॥੨੨੨੪॥
saarang aapun haath bikhai dhar kai ar ko bahu ghaaein ghaayo |2224|He took his bow in his hand and wounded the enemy very badly.2224.
ਸ੍ਰੀ ਬ੍ਰਿਜ ਨਾਇਕ ਕ੍ਰੁਧਿਤ ਹੁਇ ਅਪਨੇ ਕਰ ਮੈ ਧਨ ਸਾਰੰਗ ਲੈ ਕੈ ॥
sree brij naaeik krudhit hue apane kar mai dhan saarang lai kai |Shri Krishna got angry and took the sarang bow in his hand
ਜੁਧੁ ਮਚਾਵਤ ਭਯੋ ਦਸ ਸੈ ਭੁਜ ਸੋ ਅਤਿ ਓਜ ਅਖੰਡ ਜਨੈ ਕੈ ॥
judh machaavat bhayo das sai bhuj so at oj akhandd janai kai |Getting infuriated and taking his bow and arrows in his hands, Krishna recognising the indestructible effulgence of Sahasrabahu, waged a terrible war with him
ਅਉਰ ਹਨੇ ਬਲਵੰਡ ਘਨੇ ਕਬਿ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਭਨੈ ਅਤਿ ਪਉਰਖ ਕੈ ਕੈ ॥
aaur hane balavandd ghane kab sayaam bhanai at paurakh kai kai |Poet Shyam says, by his bravery he killed many other strong men.
ਛੋਰਿ ਦਯੋ ਤਿਹ ਭੂਪਤਿ ਕੋ ਰਨ ਮੈ ਤਿਹ ਕੀ ਸੁ ਭੁਜਾ ਫੁਨ ਦ੍ਵੈ ਕੈ ॥੨੨੨੫॥
chhor dayo tih bhoopat ko ran mai tih kee su bhujaa fun dvai kai |2225|He killed many powerful warriors with his strength and chopped all the arms of the king except two and then released him.2225.
ਕਬਿਯੋ ਬਾਚ ॥
kabiyo baach |Speech of the poet:
ਸਵੈਯਾ ॥

ਬਾਹ ਸਹੰਸ੍ਰ ਕਹੋ ਤੁਮ ਹੀ ਅਬ ਲਉ ਜਗ ਮੈ ਨਰ ਕਾਹੂ ਕੀ ਹੋਈ ॥
baah sahansr kaho tum hee ab lau jag mai nar kaahoo kee hoee |“O Sahasrabahu! no one had been in such a pitiable plight as you till today
ਅਉਰ ਕਹੋ ਕਿਹ ਭੂਪ ਇਤੀ ਅਪਨੇ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਬੀਚ ਸੰਪਤਿ ਸਮੋਈ ॥
aaur kaho kih bhoop itee apane grih beech sanpat samoee |Tell me, O king! why have you amassed so much wealth in your house?
ਏਤੇ ਪੈ ਸੰਤ ਸੁਨੋ ਹਿਤ ਕੈ ਸਿਵ ਸੋ ਛਰੀਯਾ ਪੁਨਿ ਰਾਖਤ ਹੋਈ ॥
ete pai sant suno hit kai siv so chhareeyaa pun raakhat hoee |O saints! Listen with interest, even after all this, the one who cheated with Shiva has been saved.
ਤਾ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਕੋ ਬਰੁ ਯਾ ਬਿਧਿ ਈਸ ਦਯੋ ਜਗਦੀਸ ਕੀਓ ਭਯੋ ਸੋਈ ॥੨੨੨੬॥
taa nrip ko bar yaa bidh ees dayo jagadees keeo bhayo soee |2226|“Being in such a state, why one keeps the powerful Shiva as his protector?” Though he was surely bestowed with a boon by Shiva, but only that thing happens, which is agreeable to Lord-God.2226.
ਚੌਪਈ ॥

ਜਬ ਤਿਹ ਮਾਤਿ ਬਾਤ ਸੁਨਿ ਪਾਈ ॥
jab tih maat baat sun paaee |When his mother heard the news
ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਹਾਰਿਯੋ ਜੀਤਿਯੋ ਜਦੁਰਾਈ ॥
nrip haariyo jeetiyo jaduraaee |That the king has lost and Sri Krishna has won.
ਸਭ ਤਜਿ ਬਸਤ੍ਰ ਨਗਨ ਹੁਇ ਆਈ ॥
sabh taj basatr nagan hue aaee |After abandoning all the armor, she came naked
ਆਇ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਕੋ ਦਈ ਦਿਖਾਈ ॥੨੨੨੭॥
aae sayaam ko dee dikhaaee |2227|When the mother of king came to know that he has been defeated, and Krishna had been defeated, and Krishna had been victorious, then she stood naked before Krishna.2227.
ਤਬ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਦ੍ਰਿਗ ਨੀਚੇ ਹੁਇ ਰਹਿਯੋ ॥
tab prabh drig neeche hue rahiyo |Then Sri Krishna stood with his eyes lowered.
ਨੈਕ ਨ ਜੂਝਬ ਚਿਤ ਮੋ ਚਹਿਯੋ ॥
naik na joojhab chit mo chahiyo |Then the Lord bowed down his eyes and decided in his mind not to fight any more
ਭੂਪਤਿ ਸਮੈ ਭਜਨ ਕੋ ਪਾਯੋ ॥
bhoopat samai bhajan ko paayo |(At that time) the king got time to flee.
ਭਾਜਿ ਗਯੋ ਨਹਿ ਜੁਧ ਮਚਾਯੋ ॥੨੨੨੮॥
bhaaj gayo neh judh machaayo |2228|During this period the king got the time to run away and he fled away, leaving the war-arena.2228.
ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਬਾਚ ਬੀਰਨ ਸੋ ॥
nrip baach beeran so |Speech of the king addressed to the warriors:

bipat hue bahu ghaaein so nrip beeran mai ih bhaat uchaariyo |Suffering from many wounds, the king said thus among the warriors
