ਕਾਜਰ ਨੈਨਿ ਦੀਏ ਮਨ ਮੋਹਤ ਈਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਬਿੰਦੁਰੀ ਜੁ ਬਿਰਾਜੈ ॥
kaajar nain dee man mohat eegur kee binduree ju biraajai |There is a sparkle in the eyes, which fascinates the mind and there is a dot of Shingraf on the forehead.
ਟਾਡ ਭੁਜਾਨ ਬਨ੍ਰਹੀ ਕਟਿ ਕੇਹਿਰ ਪਾਇਨ ਨੂਪਰ ਕੀ ਧੁਨਿ ਬਾਜੈ ॥
ttaadd bhujaan banrahee katt kehir paaein noopar kee dhun baajai |She had put antimony in her eyes and a round mark on her forehead, her arms were beautiful, the waist was slim like a lion and there was sound of anklets from her feet
ਹਾਰ ਗਰੇ ਮੁਕਤਾਹਲ ਕੇ ਗਈ ਨੰਦ ਦੁਆਰਹਿ ਕੰਸ ਕੈ ਕਾਜੈ ॥
haar gare mukataahal ke gee nand duaareh kans kai kaajai |Wearing a necklace of gems, she reached at the door of Nand in order to perform the task assigned by Kansa
ਬਾਸ ਸੁਬਾਸ ਬਸੀ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਤਨ ਆਨਨ ਮੈ ਸਸਿ ਕੋਟਿਕ ਲਾਜੈ ॥੮੪॥
baas subaas basee sabh hee tan aanan mai sas kottik laajai |84|The fragrance emanating from her body spread in all the four directions and seeing her face even the moon felt shy.84.
ਜਸੁਧਾ ਬਾਚ ਪੂਤਨਾ ਪ੍ਰਤਿ ॥
jasudhaa baach pootanaa prat |Speech of Yashoda addressed to Putana:

ਬਹੁ ਆਦਰ ਕਰਿ ਪੂਛਿਓ ਜਸੁਮਤਿ ਬਚਨ ਰਸਾਲ ॥
bahu aadar kar poochhio jasumat bachan rasaal |With great respect, Jasodha asked with sweet words
ਆਸਨ ਪੈ ਬੈਠਾਇ ਕੈ ਕਹਿਓ ਬਾਤ ਕਹੁ ਬਾਲ ॥੮੫॥
aasan pai baitthaae kai kahio baat kahu baal |85|Yashoda gave her respect and asked about her welfare and giving her a seat, she began to talk to her.85.
ਪੂਤਨਾ ਬਾਚ ਜਸੋਧਾ ਸੋ ॥
pootanaa baach jasodhaa so |Speech of Putana addressed to Yashoda:

ਮਹਰਿ ਤਿਹਾਰੇ ਸੁਤ ਸੁਨਿਓ ਜਨਮਿਓ ਰੂਪ ਅਨੂਪ ॥
mahar tihaare sut sunio janamio roop anoop |Choudharani! (I) have heard that a son with a unique form has been born in your (house).
ਮੋ ਗੋਦੀ ਦੈ ਦੂਧ ਕੋ ਹੋਵੈ ਸਭ ਕੋ ਭੂਪ ॥੮੬॥
mo godee dai doodh ko hovai sabh ko bhoop |86|“O mother! I have come to know that you have given birth to a unique child, give him to me so that I may cause him to drink my milk, because this promising child will become the emperor of all.”86.

ਗੋਦ ਦਯੋ ਜਸੁਧਾ ਤਬ ਤਾ ਕੇ ਸੁ ਅੰਤ ਸਮੈ ਤਬ ਹੀ ਉਨਿ ਲੀਨੋ ॥
god dayo jasudhaa tab taa ke su ant samai tab hee un leeno |Then Yashoda put Krishna in her lap and in this way Putana called her own end
ਭਾਗ ਬਡੇ ਦੁਰ ਬੁਧਨਿ ਕੇ ਭਗਵਾਨਹਿ ਕੌ ਜਿਨਿ ਅਸਥਨ ਦੀਨੋ ॥
bhaag badde dur budhan ke bhagavaaneh kau jin asathan deeno |That woman of vicious intellect had been very fortunate because she made the Lord to drink milk from her teats
ਛੀਰ ਰਕਤ੍ਰ ਸੁ ਤਾਹੀ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਸੁ ਐਚ ਲਏ ਮੁਖ ਮੋ ਇਹ ਕੀਨੋ ॥
chheer rakatr su taahee ke praan su aaich le mukh mo ih keeno |(Krishna) did this (that) his soul and blood also took milk (as well as) into his mouth.
ਜਿਉ ਗਗੜੀ ਤੁਮਰੀ ਤਨ ਲਾਇ ਕੈ ਤੇਲ ਲਏ ਤੁਚ ਛਾਡ ਕੈ ਪੀਨੋ ॥੮੭॥
jiau gagarree tumaree tan laae kai tel le tuch chhaadd kai peeno |87|Krishna sucked her blood (instead of milk) with his mouth alongwith his life-force like the pressing and filtering the oil from the colocynth.87.
ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥

ਪਾਪ ਕਰਿਓ ਬਹੁ ਪੂਤਨਾ ਜਾ ਸੋ ਨਰਕ ਡਰਾਇ ॥
paap kario bahu pootanaa jaa so narak ddaraae |Putana had committed a great sin, which even the hells fear.
ਅੰਤਿ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਹਰਿ ਛਾਡਿ ਦੈ ਬਸੀ ਬਿਕੁੰਠਹਿ ਜਾਇ ॥੮੮॥
ant kahiyo har chhaadd dai basee bikunttheh jaae |88|Putana committed such a great sin, which may even frighten the hell, while dying she said, “O Krishna! Leave me,” and saying this much she went to heaven.88.

ਦੇਹਿ ਛਿ ਕੋਸ ਪ੍ਰਮਾਨ ਭਈ ਪੁਖਰਾ ਜਿਮ ਪੇਟ ਮੁਖੋ ਨਲੂਆਰੇ ॥
dehi chhi kos pramaan bhee pukharaa jim pett mukho nalooaare |The body of Putana grew as long as six kos her belly looked like a tank and face like a gutter
ਡੰਡ ਦੁਕੂਲ ਭਏ ਤਿਹ ਕੇ ਜਨੁ ਬਾਰ ਸਿਬਾਲ ਤੇ ਸੇਖ ਪੂਆਰੇ ॥
ddandd dukool bhe tih ke jan baar sibaal te sekh pooaare |Her arms were like the two banks of the tank and hair like the scum spread on the tank
ਸੀਸ ਸੁਮੇਰ ਕੋ ਸ੍ਰਿੰਗ ਭਯੋ ਤਿਹ ਆਖਨ ਮੈ ਪਰਗੇ ਖਡੂਆਰੇ ॥
sees sumer ko sring bhayo tih aakhan mai parage khaddooaare |Her head became like the top of the Sumeru mountain and there appeared great pits in place of her eyes
ਸਾਹ ਕੇ ਕੋਟ ਮੈ ਤੋਪ ਲਗੀ ਬਿਬ ਗੋਲਨ ਕੇ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਗਲੂਆਰੇ ॥੮੯॥
saah ke kott mai top lagee bib golan ke hvai galooaare |89|Within the pits of her eyes, the eyeballs appeared like the canons fixed in the fort of king.89.
ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥

ਅਸਥਨ ਮੁਖ ਲੈ ਕ੍ਰਿਸਨ ਤਿਹ ਊਪਰਿ ਸੋਇ ਗਏ ॥
asathan mukh lai krisan tih aoopar soe ge |Krishna took her breast in his mouth and fell asleep on her.
ਧਾਇ ਤਬੈ ਬ੍ਰਿਜ ਲੋਕ ਸਭ ਗੋਦ ਉਠਾਇ ਲਏ ॥੯੦॥
dhaae tabai brij lok sabh god utthaae le |90|Krishna went to sleep with the teat of Putana in his mouth and the residents of Braja woke him up.90.
ਕਾਟਿ ਕਾਟਿ ਤਨ ਏਕਠੋ ਕੀਯੋਬ ਤਾ ਕੋ ਢੇਰ ॥
kaatt kaatt tan ekattho keeyob taa ko dter |People gathered his body (in one place) and piled it up.
ਦੇ ਈਧਨ ਚਹੁੰ ਓਰ ਤੇ ਬਾਰਤ ਲਗੀ ਨ ਬੇਰ ॥੯੧॥
de eedhan chahun or te baarat lagee na ber |91|The people gathered the parts of the body of Putna and got burnt by putting fule on all the four sides.91.

ਜਬ ਹੀ ਨੰਦ ਆਇ ਹੈ ਗੋਕੁਲ ਮੈ ਲਈ ਬਾਸ ਸੁਬਾਸ ਮਹਾ ਬਿਸਮਾਨਿਓ ॥
jab hee nand aae hai gokul mai lee baas subaas mahaa bisamaanio |When Nand came to Gokul and knowing all that had happened, he was extremely wonder-struck
ਲੋਕ ਸਬੈ ਬ੍ਰਿਜ ਕੋ ਬਿਰਤਾਤ ਕਹਿਓ ਸੁਨਿ ਕੈ ਮਨ ਮੈ ਡਰ ਪਾਨਿਓ ॥
lok sabai brij ko birataat kahio sun kai man mai ddar paanio |When the people told him the saga of Putna, then he also was filled with fear in his mind
ਸਾਚ ਕਹੀ ਬਸੁਦੇਵਹਿ ਮੋ ਪਹਿ ਸੋ ਪਰਤਛਿ ਭਈ ਹਮ ਜਾਨਿਓ ॥
saach kahee basudeveh mo peh so paratachh bhee ham jaanio |He began to think about the waning given to him by Vasudev, which was true and he was seeing the same apparently
ਤਾ ਦਿਨ ਦਾਨ ਅਨੇਕ ਦੀਯੋ ਸਭ ਬਿਪ੍ਰਨ ਬੇਦ ਅਸੀਸ ਬਖਾਨਿਓ ॥੯੨॥
taa din daan anek deeyo sabh bipran bed asees bakhaanio |92|On that day Nand gave charity to Brahmins in various ways, who gave him many blessings.92.
ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥

ਬਾਲ ਰੂਪ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਉਤਰਿਓ ਦਯਾਸਿੰਧੁ ਕਰਤਾਰ ॥
baal roop hvai utario dayaasindh karataar |The creator of the ocean of mercy, has descended (into the world) in the form of a child.
ਪ੍ਰਿਥਮ ਉਧਾਰੀ ਪੂਤਨਾ ਭੂਮਿ ਉਤਾਰਿਯੋ ਭਾਰੁ ॥੯੩॥
pritham udhaaree pootanaa bhoom utaariyo bhaar |93|The Lord, ocean of mercy has incarnated in the form of a child and in the first place he has liberated the earth from the bufden of Putna.93.
ਇਤਿ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਦਸਮ ਸਕੰਧ ਪੁਰਾਣੇ ਬਚਿਤ੍ਰ ਨਾਟਕ ਗ੍ਰੰਥੇ ਪੂਤਨਾ ਬਧਹਿ ਧਿਆਇ ਸਮਾਪਤਮ ਸਤ ਸੁਭਮ ਸਤੁ ॥
eit sree dasam sakandh puraane bachitr naattak granthe pootanaa badheh dhiaae samaapatam sat subham sat |End of the chapter entitled “Killing of Putna” based on Dasham Sakandh Purana in Bachittar Natak.

ਬਾਸੁਦੇਵ ਗਰਗ ਕੋ ਨਿਕਟਿ ਲੈ ਕਹੀ ਜੁ ਤਾਹਿ ਸੁਨਾਇ ॥
baasudev garag ko nikatt lai kahee ju taeh sunaae |Basudeva approached 'Garga' (Prohit) and told him (this) and said,
ਗੋਕੁਲ ਨੰਦਹਿ ਕੇ ਭਵਨਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੋ ਤੁਮ ਜਾਇ ॥੯੪॥
gokul nandeh ke bhavan kripaa karo tum jaae |94|Then Vasudev requested the family-preceptor Garg to kindly go to Gokul in the house of Nand.94.
ਉਤੈ ਤਾਤ ਹਮਰੇ ਤਹਾ ਨਾਮ ਕਰਨ ਕਰਿ ਦੇਹੁ ॥
autai taat hamare tahaa naam karan kar dehu |There is my son in his (house). 'Name' him,
ਹਮ ਤੁਮ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਨਹੀ ਅਉਰ ਸ੍ਰਉਨ ਸੁਨ ਲੇਹੁ ॥੯੫॥
ham tum bin nahee jaanahee aaur sraun sun lehu |95|My son is there, kindly perform the naming ceremony and take care that no one else knows his secret except you and me.95.

ਬੇਗ ਚਲਿਯੋ ਦਿਜ ਗੋਕੁਲ ਕੋ ਬਸੁਦੇਵ ਮਹਾਨ ਕਹੀ ਸੋਈ ਮਾਨੀ ॥
beg chaliyo dij gokul ko basudev mahaan kahee soee maanee |(Garga) The Brahmin quickly went to Gokul, (what) the great Basudeva said, (he) accepted.
