ਆਵਤ ਥੋ ਇਕ ਜਖਛ ਬਡੋ ਇਹ ਰਾਸ ਕੋ ਕਉਤੁਕ ਤਾਹਿ ਬਿਲੋਕਿਯੋ ॥
aavat tho ik jakhachh baddo ih raas ko kautuk taeh bilokiyo |A Yaksha came and he saw this wonderful play
ਗ੍ਵਾਰਿਨ ਦੇਖ ਕੈ ਮੈਨ ਬਢਿਯੋ ਤਿਹ ਤੇ ਤਨ ਮੈ ਨਹੀ ਰੰਚਕ ਰੋਕਿਯੋ ॥
gvaarin dekh kai main badtiyo tih te tan mai nahee ranchak rokiyo |Seeing the gopis he became lustful and could not restrain himself a little
ਗ੍ਵਾਰਿਨ ਲੈ ਸੁ ਚਲਿਯੋ ਨਭਿ ਕੋ ਕਿਨਹੂੰ ਤਿਹ ਭੀਤਰ ਤੇ ਨਹੀ ਟੋਕਿਯੋ ॥
gvaarin lai su chaliyo nabh ko kinahoon tih bheetar te nahee ttokiyo |He flew in the sky, taking the gopis with him, without any opposition
ਜਿਉ ਮਧਿ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਲੈ ਮੁਸਲੀ ਹਰਿ ਕੇਹਰ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਮ੍ਰਿਗ ਸੋ ਰਿਪੁ ਰੋਕਿਯੋ ॥੬੪੭॥
jiau madh bheetar lai musalee har kehar hvai mrig so rip rokiyo |647|Balram and Krishna obstructed him at the same time like a lion obstructing a deer.647.
ਜਖਛ ਕੇ ਸੰਗਿ ਕਿਧੌ ਮੁਸਲੀ ਹਰਿ ਜੁਧ ਕਰਿਯੋ ਅਤਿ ਕੋਪੁ ਸੰਭਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
jakhachh ke sang kidhau musalee har judh kariyo at kop sanbhaariyo |Highly infuriated Balram and Krishna waged a war with that Yaksha
ਲੈ ਤਰੁ ਬੀਰ ਦੋਊ ਕਰ ਭੀਤਰ ਭੀਮ ਭਏ ਅਤਿ ਹੀ ਬਲ ਧਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
lai tar beer doaoo kar bheetar bheem bhe at hee bal dhaariyo |Both the brave warriors, assuming strength like Bhim, fought, taking the trees in their hands
ਦੈਤ ਪਛਾਰਿ ਲਯੋ ਇਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਕਬੈ ਜਸੁ ਤਾ ਛਬਿ ਐਸਿ ਉਚਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
dait pachhaar layo ih bhaat kabai jas taa chhab aais uchaariyo |In this way, they overpowered the demon
ਢੋਕੇ ਛੁਟੇ ਤੇ ਮਹਾ ਛੁਧਵਾਨ ਕਿਧੋ ਚਕਵਾ ਉਠਿ ਬਾਜਹਿੰ ਮਾਰਿਯੋ ॥੬੪੮॥
dtoke chhutte te mahaa chhudhavaan kidho chakavaa utth baajahin maariyo |648|This spectacle appeared like a hungry falcon, pouncing upon arcane and killing him.648.

ਮਾਰਿ ਕੈ ਤਾਹਿ ਕਿਧੌ ਮੁਸਲੀ ਹਰਿ ਬੰਸੀ ਬਜਾਈ ਨ ਕੈ ਕਛੁ ਸੰਕਾ ॥
maar kai taeh kidhau musalee har bansee bajaaee na kai kachh sankaa |Krishna and Balram played on their fluted after killing the Yaksha
ਰਾਵਨ ਖੇਤ ਮਰਿਯੋ ਕੁਪ ਕੈ ਜਿਨਿ ਰੀਝਿ ਬਿਭੀਛਨ ਦੀਨ ਸੁ ਲੰਕਾ ॥
raavan khet mariyo kup kai jin reejh bibheechhan deen su lankaa |Krishna had killed Ravana in rage and had given the kingdom of Lanka to Vibhishna
ਜਾ ਕੋ ਲਖਿਯੋ ਕੁਬਜਾ ਬਲ ਬਾਹਨ ਜਾ ਕੋ ਲਖਿਯੋ ਮੁਰ ਦੈਤ ਅਤੰਕਾ ॥
jaa ko lakhiyo kubajaa bal baahan jaa ko lakhiyo mur dait atankaa |The servant Kubja was saved by his gracious glance and the demon named Mur was destroyed by his looks
ਰੀਝਿ ਬਜਾਇ ਉਠਿਯੋ ਮੁਰਲੀ ਸੋਈ ਜੀਤ ਦੀਯੋ ਜਸੁ ਕੋ ਮਨੋ ਡੰਕਾ ॥੬੪੯॥
reejh bajaae utthiyo muralee soee jeet deeyo jas ko mano ddankaa |649|The same Krishna causing the blaring of the drum of his praise, played on his flute.649.
ਰੂਖਨ ਤੇ ਰਸ ਚੂਵਨ ਲਾਗ ਝਰੈ ਝਰਨਾ ਗਿਰਿ ਤੇ ਸੁਖਦਾਈ ॥
rookhan te ras choovan laag jharai jharanaa gir te sukhadaaee |(By the sound of the flute) sap has flowed from the rivers and soothing streams have flowed from the mountains.
ਘਾਸ ਚੁਗੈ ਨ ਮ੍ਰਿਗਾ ਬਨ ਕੇ ਖਗ ਰੀਝ ਰਹੇ ਧੁਨਿ ਜਾ ਸੁਨਿ ਪਾਈ ॥
ghaas chugai na mrigaa ban ke khag reejh rahe dhun jaa sun paaee |On hearing the sound of the flute, the sap of the trees began to drip and peace-giving currents flowed, on hearing it, deer abandoned the grazing of grass and the birds of the forest also were fascinated
ਦੇਵ ਗੰਧਾਰਿ ਬਿਲਾਵਲ ਸਾਰੰਗ ਕੀ ਰਿਝ ਕੈ ਜਿਹ ਤਾਨ ਬਸਾਈ ॥
dev gandhaar bilaaval saarang kee rijh kai jih taan basaaee |Being pleased with Dev Gandhari, Bilawal and Sarang (etc. ragas) which has brought harmony.
ਦੇਵ ਸਭੈ ਮਿਲਿ ਦੇਖਤ ਕਉਤਕ ਜਉ ਮੁਰਲੀ ਨੰਦ ਲਾਲ ਬਜਾਈ ॥੬੫੦॥
dev sabhai mil dekhat kautak jau muralee nand laal bajaaee |650|The tunes of the musical modes of Devgandhar, Bilawal and Sarang were played from the flute and seeing Krishna, the son of Nand, playing on the flute, the god also got together to visualize the scene.650.
ਠਾਢ ਰਹੀ ਜਮੁਨਾ ਸੁਨਿ ਕੈ ਧੁਨਿ ਰਾਗ ਭਲੇ ਸੁਨਬੇ ਕੋ ਚਹੇ ਹੈ ॥
tthaadt rahee jamunaa sun kai dhun raag bhale sunabe ko chahe hai |With the desire of listening to the music, Yamuna also became motionless
ਮੋਹਿ ਰਹੇ ਬਨ ਕੇ ਗਜ ਅਉ ਮ੍ਰਿਗ ਇਕਠੇ ਮਿਲਿ ਆਵਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਸਹੇ ਹੈ ॥
mohi rahe ban ke gaj aau mrig ikatthe mil aavat singh sahe hai |The elephants, lions and rabbits of the forest are also getting allured
ਆਵਤ ਹੈ ਸੁਰ ਮੰਡਲ ਕੇ ਸੁਰ ਤ੍ਯਾਗਿ ਸਭੈ ਸੁਰ ਧ੍ਯਾਨ ਫਹੇ ਹੈ ॥
aavat hai sur manddal ke sur tayaag sabhai sur dhayaan fahe hai |The gods also, abandoning the heaven, are coming under the impact of the tune of flute
ਸੋ ਸੁਨਿ ਕੈ ਬਨ ਕੇ ਖਗਵਾ ਤਰੁ ਊਪਰ ਪੰਖ ਪਸਾਰਿ ਰਹੇ ਹੈ ॥੬੫੧॥
so sun kai ban ke khagavaa tar aoopar pankh pasaar rahe hai |651|Hearing the sound of the same flute, the birds of the forest, spreading their wings on the trees, are absorbed in it.651.
ਜੋਊ ਗ੍ਵਾਰਿਨ ਖੇਲਤ ਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਸੋ ਅਤਿ ਹੀ ਹਿਤ ਕੈ ਨ ਕਛੂ ਧਨ ਮੈ ॥
joaoo gvaarin khelat hai har so at hee hit kai na kachhoo dhan mai |The gopis, who are playing with Krishna, have extreme love in their mind
ਅਤਿ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਪੈ ਜਿਹ ਬੀਚ ਲਸੈ ਫੁਨਿ ਕੰਚਨ ਕੀ ਸੁ ਪ੍ਰਭਾ ਤਨ ਮੈ ॥
at sundar pai jih beech lasai fun kanchan kee su prabhaa tan mai |Very who have the bodies of gold, are extremely winsome
ਜੋਊ ਚੰਦ੍ਰਮੁਖੀ ਕਟਿ ਕੇਹਰਿ ਸੀ ਸੁ ਬਿਰਾਜਤ ਗ੍ਵਾਰਿਨ ਕੇ ਗਨ ਮੈ ॥
joaoo chandramukhee katt kehar see su biraajat gvaarin ke gan mai |The gopi named Chandarmukhi, having slim waist like lion, appears splendid amongst other gopis,
ਸੁਨਿ ਕੈ ਮੁਰਲੀ ਧੁਨਿ ਸ੍ਰਉਨਨ ਮੈ ਅਤਿ ਰੀਝਿ ਗਿਰੀ ਸੁ ਮਨੋ ਬਨ ਮੈ ॥੬੫੨॥
sun kai muralee dhun sraunan mai at reejh giree su mano ban mai |652|Hearing the sound of the flute and being fascinated, she fell down.652.
ਇਹ ਕਉਤੁਕ ਕੈ ਸੁ ਚਲੇ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਕੋ ਫੁਨਿ ਗਾਵਤ ਗੀਤ ਹਲੀ ਹਰਿ ਆਛੇ ॥
eih kautuk kai su chale grih ko fun gaavat geet halee har aachhe |Having performed this wonderful play, Krishna and Balram came home singing
ਸੁੰਦਰ ਬੀਚ ਅਖਾਰੇ ਕਿਧੌ ਕਬਿ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਕਹੈ ਨਟੂਆ ਜਨੁ ਕਾਛੇ ॥
sundar beech akhaare kidhau kab sayaam kahai nattooaa jan kaachhe |The beautiful arenas and dancing theatres in the city have a magnificent look
ਰਾਜਤ ਹੈ ਬਲਭਦ੍ਰ ਕੇ ਨੈਨ ਯੌਂ ਮਾਨੋ ਢਰੇ ਇਹ ਮੈਨ ਕੇ ਸਾਛੇ ॥
raajat hai balabhadr ke nain yauan maano dtare ih main ke saachhe |The eyes of Balram appear to have been prepared in the mould of god of love
ਸੁੰਦਰ ਹੈ ਰਤਿ ਕੇ ਪਤਿ ਤੈ ਅਤਿ ਮਾਨਹੁ ਡਾਰਤ ਮੈਨਹਿ ਪਾਛੇ ॥੬੫੩॥
sundar hai rat ke pat tai at maanahu ddaarat maineh paachhe |653|They are so charming that the god of love feels shy.653.
ਬੀਚ ਮਨੈ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਇ ਤਬੈ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਕੌ ਸੁ ਚਲੇ ਰਿਪੁ ਕੌ ਹਨਿ ਦੋਊ ॥
beech manai sukh paae tabai grih kau su chale rip kau han doaoo |Being pleased in the mind and killing the enemy, both have gone away to their home
ਚੰਦ੍ਰਪ੍ਰਭਾ ਸਮ ਜਾ ਮੁਖ ਉਪਮ ਜਾ ਸਮ ਉਪਮ ਹੈ ਨਹਿ ਕੋਊ ॥
chandraprabhaa sam jaa mukh upam jaa sam upam hai neh koaoo |They have the faces like moon, which can’t be compared with any other
ਦੇਖਤ ਰੀਝ ਰਹੈ ਜਿਹ ਕੋ ਰਿਪੁ ਰੀਝਤ ਸੋ ਇਨ ਦੇਖਤ ਸੋਊ ॥
dekhat reejh rahai jih ko rip reejhat so in dekhat soaoo |By seeing whom even the enemies are enthralled and (whoever) sees more, (he also) becomes happy.
ਮਾਨਹੁ ਲਛਮਨ ਰਾਮ ਬਡੇ ਭਟ ਮਾਰਿ ਚਲੇ ਰਿਪੁ ਕੋ ਘਰ ਓਊ ॥੬੫੪॥
maanahu lachhaman raam badde bhatt maar chale rip ko ghar oaoo |654|Seeing them, the enemies are also charmed and they appeared like Ram and Lakshman returning to their home after killing the enemy.654.
ਅਥ ਕੁੰਜ ਗਲੀਨ ਮੈ ਖੇਲਬੋ ॥
ath kunj galeen mai khelabo |Now beings the description of playing in the street-chamber

ਹਰਿ ਸੰਗਿ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਇਮ ਗ੍ਵਾਰਿਨ ਕੇ ਅਬ ਕੁੰਜ ਗਲੀਨ ਮੈ ਖੇਲ ਮਚਈਯੈ ॥
har sang kahiyo im gvaarin ke ab kunj galeen mai khel macheeyai |Krishna said to gopis, “Now the amorous play be performed in alcoves and streets
ਨਾਚਤ ਖੇਲਤ ਭਾਤਿ ਭਲੀ ਸੁ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਯੌ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਗੀਤ ਬਸਈਯੈ ॥
naachat khelat bhaat bhalee su kahiyo yau sundar geet baseeyai |While dancing and playing, charming songs may be sung
ਜਾ ਕੇ ਹੀਏ ਮਨੁ ਹੋਤ ਖੁਸੀ ਸੁਨੀਯੈ ਉਠਿ ਕੇ ਸੋਊ ਕਾਰਜ ਕਈਯੈ ॥
jaa ke hee man hot khusee suneeyai utth ke soaoo kaaraj keeyai |The work on doing which the mind is pleased, the same work should be done
ਤੀਰ ਨਦੀ ਹਮਰੀ ਸਿਖ ਲੈ ਸੁਖ ਆਪਨ ਦੈ ਹਮ ਹੂੰ ਸੁਖ ਦਈਯੈ ॥੬੫੫॥
teer nadee hamaree sikh lai sukh aapan dai ham hoon sukh deeyai |655|Whatever you had done under my instruction n the bank of the river, enjoy yourselves in the same way, also imparting the pleasure to me.655.
ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਕੋ ਆਇਸੁ ਮਾਨਿ ਤ੍ਰੀਯਾ ਬ੍ਰਿਜ ਕੁੰਜ ਗਲੀਨ ਮੈ ਖੇਲ ਮਚਾਯੋ ॥
kaanrah ko aaeis maan treeyaa brij kunj galeen mai khel machaayo |Following Kanh's permission, the women of Braj played in Kunj streets.
ਗਾਇ ਉਠੀ ਸੋਊ ਗੀਤ ਭਲੀ ਬਿਧਿ ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਮਨ ਭੀਤਰ ਭਾਯੋ ॥
gaae utthee soaoo geet bhalee bidh jo har ke man bheetar bhaayo |Obeying Krishna, the women began the performance of the amorous play in the streets and chamber of Braja, and began to sing songs which Krishna liked
ਦੇਵ ਗੰਧਾਰਿ ਅਉ ਸੁਧ ਮਲਾਰ ਬਿਖੈ ਸੋਊ ਭਾਖਿ ਖਿਆਲ ਬਸਾਯੋ ॥
dev gandhaar aau sudh malaar bikhai soaoo bhaakh khiaal basaayo |They sand in the musical modes of Gandhar and Shuddh Malhar
ਰੀਝ ਰਹਿਯੋ ਪੁਰਿ ਮੰਡਲ ਅਉ ਸੁਰ ਮੰਡਲ ਪੈ ਜਿਨ ਹੂੰ ਸੁਨਿ ਪਾਯੋ ॥੬੫੬॥
reejh rahiyo pur manddal aau sur manddal pai jin hoon sun paayo |656|Whosoever heard it on the earth or in heaven was fascinated.656.
ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਸਿਰ ਪੈ ਧਰ ਕੈ ਮਿਲਿ ਕੁੰਜਨ ਮੈ ਸੁਭ ਭਾਤਿ ਗਈ ਹੈ ॥
kaanrah kahiyo sir pai dhar kai mil kunjan mai subh bhaat gee hai |All the gopis met Krishna in alcoves
ਕੰਜ ਮੁਖੀ ਤਨ ਕੰਚਨ ਸੇ ਸਭ ਰੂਪ ਬਿਖੈ ਮਨੋ ਮੈਨ ਮਈ ਹੈ ॥
kanj mukhee tan kanchan se sabh roop bikhai mano main mee hai |Their faces are like gold and the whole figure is inebriated with lust
ਖੇਲ ਬਿਖੈ ਰਸ ਕੀ ਸੋ ਤ੍ਰੀਯਾ ਸਭ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਕੇ ਆਗੇ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਐਸੇ ਧਈ ਹੈ ॥
khel bikhai ras kee so treeyaa sabh sayaam ke aage hvai aaise dhee hai |All those women (gopis) run away before Krishna in the game of (love) rasa.
ਯੌ ਕਬਿ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਕਹੈ ਉਪਮਾ ਗਜ ਗਾਮਨਿ ਕਾਮਿਨ ਰੂਪ ਭਈ ਹੈ ॥੬੫੭॥
yau kab sayaam kahai upamaa gaj gaaman kaamin roop bhee hai |657|In the play, the women are running in front of Krishna and the poet says that all are extremely beautiful damsels with the gait of the elephants.657.
