ਥਲ ਗਯੋ ਨਕੁੰਭਲਾ ਹੋਮ ਕਰਣ ॥੪੭੯॥
thal gayo nakunbhalaa hom karan |479|At this time Inderjit Mehgnad forsook the war-arena and returned to perform the Hom Yajna (Sacrifice).479.
ਲਘ ਬੀਰ ਤੀਰ ਲੰਕੇਸ ਆਨ ॥

ਇਮ ਕਹੈ ਬੈਣ ਤਜ ਭ੍ਰਾਤ ਕਾਨ ॥
eim kahai bain taj bhraat kaan |Coming near the younger brother Vibhishan said that,
ਆਇ ਹੈ ਸਤ੍ਰੁ ਇਹ ਘਾਤ ਹਾਥ ॥
aae hai satru ih ghaat haath |Enemy (meghnad) hand may come,
ਇੰਦ੍ਰਾਰ ਬੀਰ ਅਰਬਰ ਪ੍ਰਮਾਥ ॥੪੮੦॥
eindraar beer arabar pramaath |480|At that time his supreme enemy and the mighty warrior Inderjit is wwithing your ambush.480.
ਨਿਜ ਮਾਸ ਕਾਟ ਕਰ ਕਰਤ ਹੋਮ ॥
nij maas kaatt kar karat hom |(He is currently) performing homa by cutting flesh from his body,
ਥਰਹਰਤ ਭੂੰਮਿ ਅਰ ਚਕਤ ਬਯੋਮ ॥
tharaharat bhoonm ar chakat bayom |He is performing havana (sacrifice) by chopping his flesh, with which the whole earth is trembling and the sky is wondering.
ਤਹ ਗਯੋ ਰਾਮ ਭ੍ਰਾਤਾ ਨਿਸੰਗਿ ॥
tah gayo raam bhraataa nisang |On hearing this, Lachman went away.
ਕਰ ਧਰੇ ਧਨੁਖ ਕਟ ਕਸਿ ਨਿਖੰਗ ॥੪੮੧॥
kar dhare dhanukh katt kas nikhang |481|Hearing this, Lakshman went there fearlessly with bow in his hand and quiver tied to his back.481.
ਚਿੰਤੀ ਸੁ ਚਿਤ ਦੇਵੀ ਪ੍ਰਚੰਡ ॥
chintee su chit devee prachandd |In (Meghnad's) mind is the anxiety of overpowering the goddess.
ਅਰ ਹਣਯੋ ਬਾਣ ਕੀਨੋ ਦੁਖੰਡ ॥
ar hanayo baan keeno dukhandd |Inderjit began to recite for the manifestation of the goddess and Lakshman discharged his arrows and killed Inderjit into two halves.
ਰਿਪ ਫਿਰੇ ਮਾਰ ਦੁੰਦਭ ਬਜਾਇ ॥
rip fire maar dundabh bajaae |Having killed the enemy, (Lachmana) came back shouting (of victory).
ਉਤ ਭਜੇ ਦਈਤ ਦਲਪਤਿ ਜੁਝਾਇ ॥੪੮੨॥
aut bhaje deet dalapat jujhaae |482|Lakshman returned with his forces, playing on the drum and on the other side the demons ran away on seeing their general dead.482.

kaagarradang kraoor kadte hathiaar |Terrible weapons were drawn
ਆਗੜਦੰਗ ਆਨ ਬਜੇ ਜੁਝਾਰ ॥੪੮੪॥
aagarradang aan baje jujhaar |484|Taking out their frightening weapons, the warriors began to fight with one another.484.
