ਇਹ ਭਾਤ ਕਹੈ ਰਨੁ ਮੈ ਸਿਗਰੇ ਮੁਖਿ ਕਾਲ ਕੇ ਜਾਇ ਬਚੇ ਅਬ ਹੀ ॥
eih bhaat kahai ran mai sigare mukh kaal ke jaae bache ab hee |When the king reached the abode of gods, all the warriors became pleased and said, “We are all saved from the mouth of Kal (death),”
ਸਸਿ ਭਾਨੁ ਧਨਾਧਿਪ ਰੁਦ੍ਰ ਬਿਰੰਚ ਸਬੈ ਹਰਿ ਤੀਰ ਗਏ ਜਬ ਹੀ ॥
sas bhaan dhanaadhip rudr biranch sabai har teer ge jab hee |
ਹਰਖੇ ਬਰਖੇ ਨਭ ਤੇ ਸੁਰ ਫੂਲ ਸੁ ਜੀਤ ਕੀ ਬੰਬ ਬਜੀ ਤਬ ਹੀ ॥੧੭੧੭॥
harakhe barakhe nabh te sur fool su jeet kee banb bajee tab hee |1717|When Chandra, Surya, Kuber, Rudra, Brahma etc. reached the abode of the Lord, the gods showered flowers from the sky and blew the horn of victory.1717.

ਤਉ ਹੀ ਲਉ ਕੋਪ ਕੀਓ ਮੁਸਲੀ ਅਰਿ ਬੀਰ ਤਬੈ ਸੰਗ ਤੀਰ ਪ੍ਰਹਾਰੇ ॥
tau hee lau kop keeo musalee ar beer tabai sang teer prahaare |Till that time, in great fury, Balram discharged his arrows and killed many enemies
ਐਚਿ ਲੀਏ ਇਕ ਬਾਰ ਹੀ ਬੈਰਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਬਿਨਾ ਕਰਿ ਭੂ ਪਰ ਡਾਰੇ ॥
aaich lee ik baar hee bairan praan binaa kar bhoo par ddaare |Pulling his bow he made many enemies lifeless and threw them on the ground
ਏਕ ਬਲੀ ਗਹਿ ਹਾਥਨ ਸੋ ਛਿਤ ਪੈ ਕਰਿ ਕੋਪ ਫਿਰਾਇ ਪਛਾਰੇ ॥
ek balee geh haathan so chhit pai kar kop firaae pachhaare |He caught some of the mighty ones with his hands and knocked them down on the earth
ਜੀਵਤ ਜੋਊ ਬਚੇ ਬਲ ਤੇ ਰਨ ਤ੍ਯਾਗ ਸੋਊ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਤੀਰ ਸਿਧਾਰੇ ॥੧੭੧੮॥
jeevat joaoo bache bal te ran tayaag soaoo nrip teer sidhaare |1718|Those who survived from amongst them with their strength, they abandoned the war-arena and came before Jarasandh.1718.

ਜਰਾਸੰਧਿ ਪੈ ਜਾਇ ਪੁਕਾਰੇ ॥
jaraasandh pai jaae pukaare |
ਖੜਗ ਸਿੰਘ ਰਨ ਭੀਤਰ ਮਾਰੇ ॥
kharrag singh ran bheetar maare |Coming before Jarasandh, they said, “Kharag Singh has been killed in the war"
ਇਉ ਸੁਨਿ ਕੈ ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਮੁਖ ਬੈਨਾ ॥
eiau sun kai tin ke mukh bainaa |
ਰਿਸਿ ਕੇ ਸੰਗ ਅਰੁਨ ਭਏ ਨੈਨਾ ॥੧੭੧੯॥
ris ke sang arun bhe nainaa |1719|Listening to their talk, his eyes became red with ire.1719.
ਅਪੁਨੇ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੀ ਸਬੈ ਬੁਲਾਏ ॥
apune mantree sabai bulaae |
ਤਿਨ ਪ੍ਰਤਿ ਭੂਪਤਿ ਬਚਨ ਸੁਨਾਏ ॥
tin prat bhoopat bachan sunaae |He called all his ministers and said,
ਖੜਗ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੂਝੇ ਰਨ ਮਾਹੀ ॥
kharrag singh joojhe ran maahee |
ਅਉਰ ਸੁਭਟ ਕੋ ਤਿਹ ਸਮ ਨਾਹੀ ॥੧੭੨੦॥
aaur subhatt ko tih sam naahee |1720|“Kharag Singh has been killed in the battlefield and there is no other warrior like him.1720.
ਖੜਗ ਸਿੰਘ ਸੋ ਸੂਰੋ ਨਾਹੀ ॥
kharrag singh so sooro naahee |
ਤਿਹ ਸਮ ਜਾਇ ਲਰੈ ਰਨ ਮਾਹੀ ॥
tih sam jaae larai ran maahee |“There is no other warrior like Kharag Singh, who can fight like him
ਅਬ ਤੁਮ ਕਹੋ ਕਉਨ ਬਿਧਿ ਕੀਜੈ ॥
ab tum kaho kaun bidh keejai |
ਕਉਨ ਸੁਭਟ ਕੋ ਆਇਸ ਦੀਜੈ ॥੧੭੨੧॥
kaun subhatt ko aaeis deejai |1721|Now you may tell me what should be done, and who should now be ordered to go?”1721.
ਜਰਾਸੰਧਿ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਸੋ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੀ ਬਾਚ ॥
jaraasandh nrip so mantree baach |Speech of the ministers addressed to Jarasandh:

ਤਬ ਬੋਲਿਓ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੀ ਸੁਮਤਿ ਜਰਾਸੰਧਿ ਕੇ ਤੀਰ ॥
tab bolio mantree sumat jaraasandh ke teer |Now the minister, Sumati by name, spoke to the king Jarasandh,
ਸਾਝ ਪਰੀ ਹੈ ਅਬ ਨ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਕਉਨ ਲਰੈ ਰਨਿ ਬੀਰ ॥੧੭੨੨॥
saajh paree hai ab nripat kaun larai ran beer |1722|“Now it is evening, who will fight at this time?”1722.
ਉਤ ਰਾਜਾ ਚੁਪ ਹੋਇ ਰਹਿਓ ਮੰਤ੍ਰਿ ਕਹੀ ਜਬ ਗਾਥ ॥
aut raajaa chup hoe rahio mantr kahee jab gaath |
ਇਤ ਮੁਸਲੀਧਰ ਤਹ ਗਯੋ ਜਹਾ ਹੁਤੇ ਬ੍ਰਿਜਨਾਥ ॥੧੭੨੩॥
eit musaleedhar tah gayo jahaa hute brijanaath |1723|On that side, listening to the minister, the king sat down silently and on this side Balram reached there where Krishna was sitting.1723.
ਮੁਸਲੀ ਬਾਚ ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਸੋ ॥
musalee baach kaanrah so |Speech of Balram addressed to Krishna:

ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਸਿੰਧ ਇਹ ਕਉਨ ਸੁਤ ਖੜਗ ਸਿੰਘ ਜਿਹ ਨਾਮ ॥
kripaasindh ih kaun sut kharrag singh jih naam |
ਐਸੋ ਅਪੁਨੀ ਬੈਸ ਮੈ ਨਹਿ ਦੇਖਿਓ ਬਲ ਧਾਮ ॥੧੭੨੪॥
aaiso apunee bais mai neh dekhio bal dhaam |1724|“O the ocean of mercy! who was this king Kharag Singh? I have not seen till now such a powerful hero.1724.

ਤਾ ਤੇ ਯਾ ਕੀ ਕਥਾ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸੋ ॥
taa te yaa kee kathaa prakaaso |
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਕੋ ਭਰਮੁ ਬਿਨਾਸੋ ॥
mere man ko bharam binaaso |“Therefore telling me his episode, remove the illusion of my mind
ਐਸੀ ਬਿਧਿ ਸੋ ਬਲਿ ਜਬ ਕਹਿਓ ॥
aaisee bidh so bal jab kahio |
ਸੁਨਿ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਸਨਿ ਮੋਨ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਰਹਿਓ ॥੧੭੨੫॥
sun sree krisan mon hvai rahio |1725|” When Balram said this, Krishna listening to him, remained silent.1725.

ਪੁਨਿ ਬੋਲਿਓ ਬ੍ਰਿਜਨਾਥ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਵੰਤ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਬੰਧੁ ਸਿਉ ॥
pun bolio brijanaath kripaavant hvai bandh siau |
ਸੁਨਿ ਬਲਿ ਯਾ ਕੀ ਗਾਥ ਜਨਮ ਕਥਾ ਭੂਪਤਿ ਕਹੋ ॥੧੭੨੬॥
sun bal yaa kee gaath janam kathaa bhoopat kaho |1726|Then Krishna gracefully said to his brother, “O Balram! now I relate the story of the birth of the king, listen to it,1726

ਖਟਮੁਖ ਰਮਾ ਗਨੇਸ ਪੁਨਿ ਸਿੰਗੀ ਰਿਖਿ ਘਨ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ॥
khattamukh ramaa ganes pun singee rikh ghan sayaam |
ਆਦਿ ਬਰਨ ਬਿਧਿ ਪੰਚ ਲੈ ਧਰਿਓ ਖੜਗ ਸਿੰਘ ਨਾਮ ॥੧੭੨੭॥
aad baran bidh panch lai dhario kharrag singh naam |1727|“Kartikeya (the six-faced), Rama, Ganesh, Shringi and Ghanshyam taking the first letters of these names, he was named Kharag Singh.1727.
ਖੜਗ ਰਮਯ ਤਨ ਗਰਮਿਤਾ ਸਿੰਘ ਨਾਦ ਘਮਸਾਨ ॥
kharrag ramay tan garamitaa singh naad ghamasaan |
ਪੰਚ ਬਰਨ ਕੋ ਗੁਨ ਲੀਓ ਇਹ ਭੂਪਤਿ ਬਲਵਾਨ ॥੧੭੨੮॥
panch baran ko gun leeo ih bhoopat balavaan |1728|
