ਜੋ ਰਿਪੁ ਪੈ ਮਗ ਜਾਤ ਚਲਿਯੋ ਸੁਨਿ ਕੈ ਉਪਮਾ ਚਲਿ ਦੇਖਤ ਓਊ ॥
jo rip pai mag jaat chaliyo sun kai upamaa chal dekhat oaoo |The enemy walking on his path, deviates in order to see Krishna
ਅਉਰ ਕੀ ਬਾਤ ਕਹਾ ਕਹੀਯੈ ਕਬਿ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਸੁਰਾਦਿਕ ਰੀਝਤ ਸੋਊ ॥੫੧੯॥
aaur kee baat kahaa kaheeyai kab sayaam suraadik reejhat soaoo |519|What to speak of other people, the gods are also getting pleased on seeing Krishna.519.
ਗੋਪਿਨ ਸੰਗ ਤਹਾ ਭਗਵਾਨ ਮਨੈ ਅਤਿ ਹੀ ਹਿਤ ਕੋ ਕਰ ਗਾਵੈ ॥
gopin sang tahaa bhagavaan manai at hee hit ko kar gaavai |
ਰੀਝ ਰਹੈ ਖਗ ਠਉਰ ਸਮੇਤ ਸੁ ਯਾ ਬਿਧਿ ਗ੍ਵਾਰਿਨ ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਰਿਝਾਵੈ ॥
reejh rahai khag tthaur samet su yaa bidh gvaarin kaanrah rijhaavai |Krishna is singing in extreme love alongwith gopis and he is enrapturing them in such a way that on seeing him, even the birds became motionless
ਜਾ ਕਹੁ ਖੋਜਿ ਕਈ ਗਣ ਗੰਧ੍ਰਬ ਕਿੰਨਰ ਭੇਦ ਨ ਰੰਚਕ ਪਾਵੈ ॥
jaa kahu khoj kee gan gandhrab kinar bhed na ranchak paavai |
ਗਾਵਤ ਸੋ ਹਰਿ ਜੂ ਤਿਹ ਜਾ ਤਜ ਕੈ ਮ੍ਰਿਗਨੀ ਚਲਿ ਕੈ ਮ੍ਰਿਗ ਆਵੈ ॥੫੨੦॥
gaavat so har joo tih jaa taj kai mriganee chal kai mrig aavai |520|The Lord, whose mystery is not known to ganas, gandharvas, kinnars ets., that Lord is singing and on listening him singing, the does are coming up, abandoning their deer.520.
ਗਾਵਤ ਸਾਰੰਗ ਸੁਧ ਮਲਾਰ ਬਿਭਾਸ ਬਿਲਾਵਲ ਅਉ ਫੁਨਿ ਗਉਰੀ ॥
gaavat saarang sudh malaar bibhaas bilaaval aau fun gauree |
ਜਾ ਸੁਰ ਸ੍ਰੋਨਨ ਮੈ ਸੁਨ ਕੈ ਸੁਰ ਭਾਮਿਨ ਧਾਵਤ ਡਾਰਿ ਪਿਛਉਰੀ ॥
jaa sur sronan mai sun kai sur bhaamin dhaavat ddaar pichhauree |He is singing the musical modes of Sarang, Suddh Malhar, Vibhas, Bilawal and Gauri and listening to his tune, the wives of gods are also coming, abandoning their head-dresses
ਸੋ ਸੁਨ ਕੈ ਸਭ ਗ੍ਵਾਰਨਿਯਾ ਰਸ ਕੈ ਸੰਗ ਹੋਇ ਗਈ ਜਨੁ ਬਉਰੀ ॥
so sun kai sabh gvaaraniyaa ras kai sang hoe gee jan bauree |
ਤਿਆਗ ਕੈ ਕਾਨਨ ਤਾ ਸੁਨ ਕੈ ਮ੍ਰਿਗ ਲੈ ਮ੍ਰਿਗਨੀ ਚਲਿ ਆਵਤ ਦਉਰੀ ॥੫੨੧॥
tiaag kai kaanan taa sun kai mrig lai mriganee chal aavat dauree |521|The gopis also, on listening to that tasteful sound, have become mad and come running in the company of deer and does, leaving the forest.521.
ਏਕ ਨਚੈ ਇਕ ਗਾਵਤ ਗੀਤ ਬਜਾਵਤ ਤਾਲ ਦਿਖਾਵਤ ਭਾਵਨ ॥
ek nachai ik gaavat geet bajaavat taal dikhaavat bhaavan |Someone is dancing, someone in singing and someone is exhibiting his emotions in various ways
ਰਾਸ ਬਿਖੈ ਅਤਿ ਹੀ ਰਸ ਸੋ ਸੁ ਰਿਝਾਵਨ ਕਾਜ ਸਭੈ ਮਨ ਭਾਵਨਿ ॥
raas bikhai at hee ras so su rijhaavan kaaj sabhai man bhaavan |In that amorous display all are alluring one another in captivating manner
ਚਾਦਨੀ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਰਾਤਿ ਬਿਖੈ ਕਬਿ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਕਹੈ ਸੁ ਬਿਖੈ ਰੁਤ ਸਾਵਨ ॥
chaadanee sundar raat bikhai kab sayaam kahai su bikhai rut saavan |
ਗ੍ਵਾਰਨਿਯਾ ਤਜਿ ਕੈ ਪੁਰ ਕੋ ਮਿਲਿ ਖੇਲਿ ਕਰੈ ਰਸ ਨੀਕਨਿ ਠਾਵਨ ॥੫੨੨॥
gvaaraniyaa taj kai pur ko mil khel karai ras neekan tthaavan |522|The poet Shyam says that the gopis are playing with Krishna at nice places on abandoning the city in rainy season and moonlit nights.522.
ਸੁੰਦਰ ਠਉਰ ਬਿਖੈ ਕਬਿ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਕਹੈ ਮਿਲਿ ਗ੍ਵਾਰਿਨ ਖੇਲ ਕਰਿਯੋ ਹੈ ॥
sundar tthaur bikhai kab sayaam kahai mil gvaarin khel kariyo hai |
ਮਾਨਹੁ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਤੇ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਸੁਰ ਮੰਡਲ ਸੁਧਿ ਬਨਾਇ ਧਰਿਯੋ ਹੈ ॥
maanahu aap hee te brahamaa sur manddal sudh banaae dhariyo hai |The poet Shyam says that gopis have played with Krishna at nice places and it seems that Brahma has created the sphere of gods
ਜਾ ਪਿਖ ਕੇ ਖਗ ਰੀਝ ਰਹੈ ਮ੍ਰਿਗ ਤਿਆਗ ਤਿਸੈ ਨਹੀ ਚਾਰੋ ਚਰਿਯੋ ਹੈ ॥
jaa pikh ke khag reejh rahai mrig tiaag tisai nahee chaaro chariyo hai |Seeing this spectacle, the birds are getting pleased, the deer have lost consciousness about food and water
ਅਉਰ ਕੀ ਬਾਤ ਕਹਾ ਕਹੀਯੇ ਜਿਹ ਕੇ ਪਿਖਏ ਭਗਵਾਨ ਛਰਿਯੋ ਹੈ ॥੫੨੩॥
aaur kee baat kahaa kaheeye jih ke pikhe bhagavaan chhariyo hai |523|What else should be said, the Lord himself has been deceived.523.
ਇਤ ਤੇ ਨੰਦਲਾਲ ਸਖਾ ਲੀਏ ਸੰਗਿ ਉਤੈ ਫੁਨਿ ਗ੍ਵਾਰਿਨ ਜੂਥ ਸਬੈ ॥
eit te nandalaal sakhaa lee sang utai fun gvaarin jooth sabai |On this side, Krishna was accompanied by his boy-friends and on that side the gopis gathered together and started
ਬਹਸਾ ਬਹਸੀ ਤਹ ਹੋਨ ਲਗੀ ਰਸ ਬਾਤਨ ਸੋ ਕਬਿ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਤਬੈ ॥
bahasaa bahasee tah hon lagee ras baatan so kab sayaam tabai |A dialogue ensued on various issues concerning pleasure according to the poet Shyam:
ਜਿਹ ਕੋ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਨਹੀ ਅੰਤ ਲਖੈ ਨਹ ਨਾਰਦ ਪਾਵਤ ਜਾਹਿ ਛਬੈ ॥
jih ko brahamaa nahee ant lakhai nah naarad paavat jaeh chhabai |The mystery of the Lord could not be known to Brahma and also the sage Narada
ਮ੍ਰਿਗ ਜਿਉ ਮ੍ਰਿਗਨੀ ਮਹਿ ਰਾਜਤ ਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਤਿਉ ਗਨ ਗ੍ਵਾਰਿਨ ਬੀਚ ਫਬੈ ॥੫੨੪॥
mrig jiau mriganee meh raajat hai har tiau gan gvaarin beech fabai |524|Just as a deer looks elegant amongst the does in the ssame manner, Krishna amongst the gopis.524.
ਨੰਦ ਲਾਲ ਲਲਾ ਇਤ ਗਾਵਤ ਹੈ ਉਤ ਤੇ ਸਭ ਗ੍ਵਾਰਨਿਯਾ ਮਿਲਿ ਗਾਵੈ ॥
nand laal lalaa it gaavat hai ut te sabh gvaaraniyaa mil gaavai |On this side Krishna is singing and on that side the gopis are singing
ਫਾਗੁਨ ਕੀ ਰੁਤਿ ਊਪਰਿ ਆਬਨ ਮਾਨਹੁ ਕੋਕਿਲਕਾ ਕੁਕਹਾਵੈ ॥
faagun kee rut aoopar aaban maanahu kokilakaa kukahaavai |They seem like the nightingales singing on mango trees in the season in the moth of Phagun
ਤੀਰ ਨਦੀ ਸੋਊ ਗਾਵਤ ਗੀਤ ਜੋਊ ਉਨ ਕੇ ਮਨ ਭੀਤਰ ਭਾਵੈ ॥
teer nadee soaoo gaavat geet joaoo un ke man bheetar bhaavai |They are singing their favourite songs
ਨੈਨ ਨਛਤ੍ਰ ਪਸਾਰਿ ਪਿਖੈ ਸੁਰ ਦੇਵ ਬਧੂ ਮਿਲਿ ਦੇਖਨਿ ਆਵੈ ॥੫੨੫॥
nain nachhatr pasaar pikhai sur dev badhoo mil dekhan aavai |525|The stars of the sky are gazing their splendour with wide-open eyes the wives of the gods are also coming to see them.525.
ਮੰਡਲ ਰਾਸ ਬਚਿਤ੍ਰ ਮਹਾ ਸਮ ਜੇ ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਭਗਵਾਨ ਰਚਿਯੋ ਹੈ ॥
manddal raas bachitr mahaa sam je har kee bhagavaan rachiyo hai |That arena of amorous play is wonderful, where Lord Krishna danced
ਤਾਹੀ ਕੇ ਬੀਚ ਕਹੈ ਕਬਿ ਇਉ ਰਸ ਕੰਚਨ ਕੀ ਸਮਤੁਲਿ ਮਚਿਯੋ ਹੈ ॥
taahee ke beech kahai kab iau ras kanchan kee samatul machiyo hai |In that arena, the gathering splendid like gold, has raised a tumult regarding the amorous play
ਤਾ ਸੀ ਬਨਾਇਬੇ ਕੋ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਨ ਬਨੀ ਕਰਿ ਕੈ ਜੁਗ ਕੋਟਿ ਪਚਿਯੋ ਹੈ ॥
taa see banaaeibe ko brahamaa na banee kar kai jug kott pachiyo hai |Such a wonderful arena, even Brahma cannot create with his efforts for millions of ages
ਕੰਚਨ ਕੇ ਤਨਿ ਗੋਪਨਿ ਕੋ ਤਿਹ ਮਧਿ ਮਨੀ ਮਨ ਤੁਲਿ ਗਚਿਯੋ ਹੈ ॥੫੨੬॥
kanchan ke tan gopan ko tih madh manee man tul gachiyo hai |526|The bodies of gopis are like gold and their minds seem splendid like pearls.526.
ਜਲ ਮੈ ਸਫਰੀ ਜਿਮ ਕੇਲ ਕਰੈ ਤਿਮ ਗ੍ਵਾਰਨਿਯਾ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਸੰਗਿ ਡੋਲੈ ॥
jal mai safaree jim kel karai tim gvaaraniyaa har ke sang ddolai |Just as the fish moves in the water, in the same manner, the gopis are roaming with Krishna
ਜਿਉ ਜਨ ਫਾਗ ਕੋ ਖੇਲਤ ਹੈ ਤਿਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਹੀ ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਕੇ ਸਾਥ ਕਲੋਲੈ ॥
jiau jan faag ko khelat hai tih bhaat hee kaanrah ke saath kalolai |Just as the people play Holi fearlessly in the same manner the gopis are flirting with Krishna
ਕੋਕਿਲਕਾ ਜਿਮ ਬੋਲਤ ਹੈ ਤਿਮ ਗਾਵਤ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਬਰਾਬਰ ਬੋਲੈ ॥
kokilakaa jim bolat hai tim gaavat taa kee baraabar bolai |
ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਕਹੈ ਸਭ ਗ੍ਵਾਰਨਿਯਾ ਇਹ ਭਾਤਨ ਸੋ ਰਸ ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹਿ ਨਿਚੋਲੈ ॥੫੨੭॥
sayaam kahai sabh gvaaraniyaa ih bhaatan so ras kaanreh nicholai |527|They are all warbling like a nightingale and are quaffing the Krishna-nectar.527.
ਰਸ ਕੀ ਚਰਚਾ ਤਿਨ ਸੋ ਭਗਵਾਨ ਕਰੀ ਹਿਤ ਸੋ ਨ ਕਛੂ ਕਮ ਕੈ ॥
ras kee charachaa tin so bhagavaan karee hit so na kachhoo kam kai |Lord Krishna held free discussion with them regarding amorous pleasure
ਇਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਕਬਿ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਕਹੈ ਤੁਮਰੇ ਮਾਹਿ ਖੇਲ ਬਨਿਓ ਹਮ ਕੈ ॥
eih bhaat kahiyo kab sayaam kahai tumare maeh khel banio ham kai |The poet says that Krishna said to the gopis, “I have just become like a play for you”
ਕਹਿ ਕੈ ਇਹ ਬਾਤ ਦੀਯੋ ਹਸਿ ਕੈ ਸੁ ਪ੍ਰਭਾ ਸੁਭ ਦੰਤਨ ਯੌ ਦਮਕੈ ॥
keh kai ih baat deeyo has kai su prabhaa subh dantan yau damakai |
ਜਨੁ ਦਿਉਸ ਭਲੇ ਰੁਤਿ ਸਾਵਨ ਕੀ ਅਤਿ ਅਭ੍ਰਨ ਮੈ ਚਪਲਾ ਚਮਕੈ ॥੫੨੮॥
jan diaus bhale rut saavan kee at abhran mai chapalaa chamakai |528|Saying this, Krishna laughed and his teeth glistened like the flash of lightning in clouds in the month of Sawan.528.
ਐਹੋ ਲਲਾ ਨੰਦ ਲਾਲ ਕਹੈ ਸਭ ਗ੍ਵਾਰਨਿਯਾ ਅਤਿ ਮੈਨ ਭਰੀ ॥
aaiho lalaa nand laal kahai sabh gvaaraniyaa at main bharee |
ਹਮਰੇ ਸੰਗ ਆਵਹੁ ਖੇਲ ਕਰੋ ਨ ਕਛੂ ਮਨ ਭੀਤਰ ਸੰਕ ਕਰੀ ॥
hamare sang aavahu khel karo na kachhoo man bheetar sank karee |The lustful gopis call Krishna and say, “Krishna! Come and play (sex) with us without hesitation
ਨੈਨ ਨਚਾਇ ਕਛੂ ਮੁਸਕਾਇ ਕੈ ਭਉਹ ਦੁਊ ਕਰਿ ਟੇਢਿ ਧਰੀ ॥
nain nachaae kachhoo musakaae kai bhauh duaoo kar ttedt dharee |They are causing their eyes to dance, they are tilting their eyebrows
ਮਨ ਯੌ ਉਪਜੀ ਉਪਮਾ ਰਸ ਕੀ ਮਨੋ ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਕੇ ਕੰਠਹਿ ਫਾਸਿ ਡਰੀ ॥੫੨੯॥
man yau upajee upamaa ras kee mano kaanrah ke kanttheh faas ddaree |529|It seems that the nose of attachment has fallen on the neck of Krishna.529.
ਖੇਲਤ ਗ੍ਵਾਰਿਨ ਮਧਿ ਸੋਊ ਕਬਿ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਕਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਜੂ ਛਬਿ ਵਾਰੋ ॥
khelat gvaarin madh soaoo kab sayaam kahai har joo chhab vaaro |I am a sacrifice on the beautiful spectacle of Krishna playing amongst gopis (the poet says)
ਖੇਲਤ ਹੈ ਸੋਊ ਮੈਨ ਭਰੀ ਇਨ ਹੂੰ ਪਰ ਮਾਨਹੁ ਚੇਟਕ ਡਾਰੋ ॥
khelat hai soaoo main bharee in hoon par maanahu chettak ddaaro |Full of lust, they are playing in the manner of one under magical charms
ਤੀਰ ਨਦੀ ਬ੍ਰਿਜ ਭੂਮਿ ਬਿਖੈ ਅਤਿ ਹੋਤ ਹੈ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਭਾਤਿ ਅਖਾਰੋ ॥
teer nadee brij bhoom bikhai at hot hai sundar bhaat akhaaro |
ਰੀਝ ਰਹੈ ਪ੍ਰਿਥਮੀ ਕੇ ਸਭੈ ਜਨ ਰੀਝ ਰਹਿਯੋ ਸੁਰ ਮੰਡਲ ਸਾਰੋ ॥੫੩੦॥
reejh rahai prithamee ke sabhai jan reejh rahiyo sur manddal saaro |530|In the land of Braja and on the bank of the river, this beautiful arena has been formed and on seeing it, the dwellers of the earth and the whole sphere of gods is getting pleased.530.
ਗਾਵਤ ਏਕ ਨਚੈ ਇਕ ਗ੍ਵਾਰਨਿ ਤਾਰਿਨ ਕਿੰਕਨ ਕੀ ਧੁਨਿ ਬਾਜੈ ॥
gaavat ek nachai ik gvaaran taarin kinkan kee dhun baajai |Some gopi is dancing, someone is singing, someone is playing on a stringed musical instrument and someone is playing on the flute
ਜਿਉ ਮ੍ਰਿਗ ਰਾਜਤ ਬੀਚ ਮ੍ਰਿਗੀ ਹਰਿ ਤਿਉ ਗਨ ਗ੍ਵਾਰਿਨ ਬੀਚ ਬਿਰਾਜੈ ॥
jiau mrig raajat beech mrigee har tiau gan gvaarin beech biraajai |Just as a deer looks elegant amongst the does, in the same manner Krishna is there amongst the gopis
