ਅੜਿਲ ॥
arril |adamant:
ਰਾਨੀ ਤਾ ਕੇ ਸਦਨ ਮਦਨ ਜੁਤ ਆਵਈ ॥
raanee taa ke sadan madan jut aavee |Rani used to come to his house with lust
ਕਾਮ ਕਲੋਲ ਅਮੋਲ ਸੁ ਬੋਲ ਕਮਾਵਈ ॥
kaam kalol amol su bol kamaavee |And by saying she used to work very well.
ਤਾ ਸੋ ਭੇਵ ਨ ਕੋਊ ਸਕੇ ਪਛਾਨਿ ਕੈ ॥
taa so bhev na koaoo sake pachhaan kai |No one recognized his secret
ਹੋ ਨਿਜੁ ਰਾਜਾ ਕੇ ਤੀਰ ਬਖਾਨੈ ਆਨਿ ਕੈ ॥੨॥
ho nij raajaa ke teer bakhaanai aan kai |2|So that he comes to his king and says. 2.
ਸਵਤਿ ਤਵਨ ਕੀ ਹੁਤੀ ਭੇਦ ਤਿਨ ਪਾਇਯੋ ॥
savat tavan kee hutee bhed tin paaeiyo |He had an obsession, he got the secret.
ਨਿਜੁ ਰਾਜਾ ਪਹਿ ਤਬ ਹੀ ਜਾਇ ਜਤਾਇਯੋ ॥
nij raajaa peh tab hee jaae jataaeiyo |(He) immediately informed his king.
ਸੁਨਤ ਰਾਵ ਏ ਬਚਨ ਅਧਿਕ ਕ੍ਰੁਧਿਤ ਭਯੋ ॥
sunat raav e bachan adhik krudhit bhayo |The king was very angry after hearing this
ਹੋ ਅਸ ਤੀਖਨ ਗਹਿ ਪਾਨ ਜਾਤ ਤਿਤ ਕੋ ਭਯੋ ॥੩॥
ho as teekhan geh paan jaat tith ko bhayo |3|And holding a sharp sword in his hand, he went there. 3.
ਸੁਨ ਰਾਨੀ ਬਚ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਕਹ ਟਰਿ ਆਗੈ ਲਿਯੋ ॥
sun raanee bach nrip kah ttar aagai liyo |The queen too heard this and met the king ahead of time.
ਬਿਹਸਿ ਬਿਹਸ ਪਤਿ ਕੈ ਐਸੇ ਉਤਰ ਦਿਯੋ ॥
bihas bihas pat kai aaise utar diyo |And laughingly answered her husband like this.
ਮੁਖ ਬੋਲੈ ਭਈਆ ਕੇ ਜੌ ਮੈ ਘਰ ਗਈ ॥
mukh bolai bheea ke jau mai ghar gee |If I spoke up, I went to my brother's house
ਹੋ ਕਹੌ ਕਹਾ ਘਟ ਤੀਯਾ ਮੈ ਤੁਮਰੀ ਭਈ ॥੪॥
ho kahau kahaa ghatt teeyaa mai tumaree bhee |4|So tell me (what happened) that I have become your wife. 4.
ਧਰਮ ਭ੍ਰਾਤ ਜਾ ਕੌ ਕਹਿ ਜੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਬਖਾਨਿ ਹੈ ॥
dharam bhraat jaa kau keh ju triy bakhaan hai |Whom the woman calls the brother of religion
ਤਾ ਸੌ ਕਾਮ ਕਲੋਲ ਨ ਕਬਹੂੰ ਠਾਨਿ ਹੈ ॥
taa sau kaam kalol na kabahoon tthaan hai |She never flirts with him.
ਕਹੀ ਸਵਤਿ ਕੀ ਸਵਤਿ ਨ ਊਪਰ ਮਾਨਿਯੈ ॥
kahee savat kee savat na aoopar maaniyai |What has been said about sleep does not apply to sleep.
ਹੋ ਇਨ ਮਹਿ ਰਹਤ ਸਿਪਰਧਾ ਹਿਯੇ ਪਛਾਨਿਯੈ ॥੫॥
ho in meh rahat siparadhaa hiye pachhaaniyai |5|They are jealous. Recognize (it well) in the heart. 5.
ਕੇਲ ਕਰਤ ਜਿਹ ਗਹੋ ਸੁ ਜਾਰ ਉਚਾਰਿਯੈ ॥
kel karat jih gaho su jaar uchaariyai |He who is caught in sexual activity is called a friend.
ਸਾਧਿ ਖਨਤ ਗਹਿ ਚੋਰ ਚੋਰ ਕਰਿ ਮਾਰਿਯੈ ॥
saadh khanat geh chor chor kar maariyai |If you see a thief trying to steal, then you should kill him as a thief.
ਬਿਨੁ ਨੈਨਨ ਕੇ ਲਹੇ ਕੋਪ ਨਹਿ ਠਾਨਿਯੈ ॥
bin nainan ke lahe kop neh tthaaniyai |One should not be angry without seeing with the eyes.
ਹੋ ਅਰਿ ਕੀ ਅਰਿ ਪਰ ਕਹੀ ਨ ਉਰ ਮੋ ਆਨਿਯੈ ॥੬॥
ho ar kee ar par kahee na ur mo aaniyai |6|The words of the enemy against the enemy should not be kept in the heart. 6.
ਚੌਪਈ ॥
chauapee |twenty four:
ਯਾ ਮੈ ਕਹੋ ਕਹਾ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਗਈ ॥
yaa mai kaho kahaa hvai gee |Tell me what happened in it
ਮੁਖ ਬੋਲੈ ਭਈਆ ਕੇ ਗਈ ॥
mukh bolai bheea ke gee |If I spoke up, I went to Dharma's brother's house.
ਤੋਰ ਸਵਿਤ ਮੈ ਕਛੁ ਨ ਬਿਗਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
tor savit mai kachh na bigaariyo |Oh sleepy! I have not spoiled you.
ਕ੍ਯੋ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਸੋ ਤੈ ਝੂਠ ਉਚਾਰਿਯੋ ॥੭॥
kayo nrip so tai jhootth uchaariyo |7|(Then) why have you lied to the king? 7.
ਅੜਿਲ ॥

ਕਹਾ ਭਯੋ ਜੌ ਰਾਵ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰਿ ਆਇਯੋ ॥
kahaa bhayo jau raav kripaa kar aaeiyo |What if the king has kindly come to me?
ਮੈ ਨ ਸੇਜ ਤੁਮਰੀ ਤੇ ਪਕਰਿ ਮੰਗਾਇਯੋ ॥
mai na sej tumaree te pakar mangaaeiyo |I did not call you by holding your sage.
ਇਤੋ ਕੋਪ ਸੁਨਿ ਸਵਤਿ ਨ ਚਿਤ ਮੌ ਧਾਰਿਯੈ ॥
eito kop sun savat na chit mau dhaariyai |Oh sleepy! Listen, so much anger should not be brought to mind.
ਹੋ ਬੈਰ ਕੈਸੋਈ ਹੋਇ ਨ ਬ੍ਰਿਥਾ ਉਚਾਰਿਯੈ ॥੮॥
ho bair kaisoee hoe na brithaa uchaariyai |8|No matter how much enmity there is, one should not talk in vain. 8.
ਚੌਪਈ ॥
chauapee |twenty four:
ਮੂਰਖ ਰਾਵ ਭੇਦ ਕਾ ਜਾਨੈ ॥
moorakh raav bhed kaa jaanai |The foolish king did not understand the secret.
ਰਿਪੁ ਕੀ ਕਹੀ ਰਿਪੁ ਕਰਿ ਮਾਨੈ ॥
rip kee kahee rip kar maanai |The words of the enemy were accepted as those of the enemy.
ਸਾਚ ਰਾਵ ਕੇ ਮੁਖ ਪਰ ਕਹਿਯੋ ॥
saach raav ke mukh par kahiyo |(I) have spoken the truth in the face of the king.
ਮੂਰਖ ਨਾਹ ਨਾਹਿ ਕਛੁ ਲਹਿਯੋ ॥੯॥
moorakh naah naeh kachh lahiyo |9|But the foolish king did not understand anything. 9.
ਕਹ ਭਯੋ ਮੈ ਇਹ ਸਾਥ ਬਿਹਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
kah bhayo mai ih saath bihaariyo |What if I've messed with it,
ਤੇਰੋ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਕਾਜ ਬਿਗਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
tero kachhoo na kaaj bigaariyo |You have not done anything wrong.
ਕੈ ਤਹਕੀਕ ਤ੍ਰਿਯਾ ਸਿਰ ਕੀਜੈ ॥
kai tahakeek triyaa sir keejai |Get that woman investigated.
ਨਾਤਰ ਮੀਚ ਮੂੰਡ ਪਰ ਲੀਜੈ ॥੧੦॥
naatar meech moondd par leejai |10|Otherwise, think that death has come to your head. 10.
ਸੁਨੁ ਰਾਜਾ ਇਹ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਕਹਿਯੈ ॥
sun raajaa ih kachhoo na kahiyai |O Rajan! Listen, don't say anything to it.
ਸਾਚ ਝੂਠ ਮੇਰੋ ਹੀ ਲਹਿਯੈ ॥
saach jhootth mero hee lahiyai |Take my truth as a lie.
ਲਹਿ ਸਾਚੀ ਮੁਹਿ ਸਾਥ ਬਿਹਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
leh saachee muhi saath bihaariyo |Accept it as true that he has raman with me
ਝੂਠੀ ਜਾਨਿ ਚੋਰ ਕਰਿ ਮਾਰਿਯੋ ॥੧੧॥
jhootthee jaan chor kar maariyo |11|And kill him like a thief as a liar. 11.
ਤਬ ਰਾਜੈ ਇਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਬਖਾਨੀ ॥
tab raajai ih bhaat bakhaanee |Then the king said thus,
ਰਾਨੀ ਤੂ ਸਾਚੀ ਮੈ ਜਾਨੀ ॥
raanee too saachee mai jaanee |Queen! I have known you as the truth.
ਤੋ ਪਰ ਝੂਠ ਸਵਤਿ ਇਨ ਕਹਿਯੋ ॥
to par jhootth savat in kahiyo |This hypocrisy has falsely accused you.
ਸੋ ਮੈ ਆਜੁ ਸਾਚੁ ਕਰਿ ਲਹਿਯੋ ॥੧੨॥
so mai aaj saach kar lahiyo |12|I have actually seen it today. 12.
