ਕੰਪਾਈ ਸਟਾ ਪੂਛ ਫੇਰੀ ਬਿਸਾਲੰ ॥੩੩॥
kanpaaee sattaa poochh feree bisaalan |33|

That terrible and dreadful Narsingh moved in the battlefield and began to stir his neck and wag his tail.33.

DOHRA

ਗਰਜਤ ਰਣਿ ਨਰਸਿੰਘ ਕੇ ਭਜੇ ਸੂਰ ਅਨੇਕ ॥
garajat ran narasingh ke bhaje soor anek |

As soon as Narsingh stepped into the battlefield, many warriors fled.

ਏਕ ਟਿਕਿਯੋ ਹਿਰਿਨਾਛ ਤਹ ਅਵਰ ਨ ਜੋਧਾ ਏਕੁ ॥੩੪॥
ek ttikiyo hirinaachh tah avar na jodhaa ek |34|

Many warriors fled on the thunder of Narsingh and none could stand in battlefield except Hiranayakashipu.34.

CHAUPAI

ਮੁਸਟ ਜੁਧ ਜੁਟੇ ਭਟ ਦੋਊ ॥
musatt judh jutte bhatt doaoo |

Both the great warriors engaged in a battle of fists.

ਤੀਸਰ ਤਾਹਿ ਨ ਪੇਖੀਅਤ ਕੋਊ ॥
teesar taeh na pekheeat koaoo |

The war with fists of both the warriors began and none other except those two could be seen in the battlefield.

ਭਏ ਦੁਹੁਨ ਕੇ ਰਾਤੇ ਨੈਣਾ ॥
bhe duhun ke raate nainaa |

Both their eyes turned red.

ਦੇਖਤ ਦੇਵ ਤਮਾਸੇ ਗੈਣਾ ॥੩੫॥
dekhat dev tamaase gainaa |35|

The eyes of both had become red and all the groups of gods were seeing this performance form the sky.35.

ਅਸਟ ਦਿਵਸ ਅਸਟੇ ਨਿਸਿ ਜੁਧਾ ॥
asatt divas asatte nis judhaa |

Eight days and eight nights both warriors

ਕੀਨੋ ਦੁਹੂੰ ਭਟਨ ਮਿਲਿ ਕ੍ਰੁਧਾ ॥
keeno duhoon bhattan mil krudhaa |

For eight days and eight nights both these brave heroes, furiously, waged the dreadful war.

ਬਹੁਰੋ ਅਸੁਰ ਕਿਛੁ ਕੁ ਮੁਰਝਾਨਾ ॥
bahuro asur kichh ku murajhaanaa |

Then the giant withered a little

ਗਿਰਿਯੋ ਭੂਮਿ ਜਨੁ ਬ੍ਰਿਛ ਪੁਰਾਨਾ ॥੩੬॥
giriyo bhoom jan brichh puraanaa |36|

After this, the demon-king felt weakness and fell down on the earth like an old tree.36.

ਸੀਚਿ ਬਾਰਿ ਪੁਨਿ ਤਾਹਿ ਜਗਾਯੋ ॥
seech baar pun taeh jagaayo |

Then (Narsingh) alerted him by sprinkling (bar) water.

ਜਗੋ ਮੂਰਛਨਾ ਪੁਨਿ ਜੀਯ ਆਯੋ ॥
jago moorachhanaa pun jeey aayo |

Narsingh sprinkled ambrosia and woke him up from the unconscious state and he become alert after coming out of the state of unconsciousness.

ਬਹੁਰੋ ਭਿਰੇ ਸੂਰ ਦੋਈ ਕ੍ਰੁਧਾ ॥
bahuro bhire soor doee krudhaa |

Then both the warriors started fighting with anger

ਮੰਡਿਯੋ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਆਪ ਮਹਿ ਜੁਧਾ ॥੩੭॥
manddiyo bahur aap meh judhaa |37|

Both the heroes began to fight again furiously and a dreadful war began again.37.

ਭੁਜੰਗ ਪ੍ਰਯਾਤ ਛੰਦ ॥
bhujang prayaat chhand |

BHUJANG PRAYAAT STANZA

ਹਲਾ ਚਾਲ ਕੈ ਕੈ ਪੁਨਰ ਬੀਰ ਢੂਕੇ ॥
halaa chaal kai kai punar beer dtooke |

After fighting, both the warriors fell (close to each other).

ਮਚਿਯੋ ਜੁਧ ਜਿਯੋ ਕਰਨ ਸੰਗੰ ਘੜੂਕੇ ॥
machiyo judh jiyo karan sangan gharrooke |

After challenging each other, both the heroes began to fight again, and a dreadful war ensued between them for gaining victory over the other.

ਨਖੰ ਪਾਤ ਦੋਊ ਕਰੇ ਦੈਤ ਘਾਤੰ ॥
nakhan paat doaoo kare dait ghaatan |

(Narsingh) wounded the giant with the nails of both hands.

ਮਨੋ ਗਜ ਜੁਟੇ ਬਨੰ ਮਸਤਿ ਮਾਤੰ ॥੩੮॥
mano gaj jutte banan masat maatan |38|

Both of them were giving destructive blows to one another with their nails and appeared like two intoxicated elephants fighting each other in the forest.38.

ਪੁਨਰ ਨਰਸਿੰਘੰ ਧਰਾ ਤਾਹਿ ਮਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
punar narasinghan dharaa taeh maariyo |

Then Narsingh threw (the giant) to the ground.

ਪੁਰਾਨੋ ਪਲਾਸੀ ਮਨੋ ਬਾਇ ਡਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
puraano palaasee mano baae ddaariyo |

Narsingh again threw Hiranayakashipu on the earth just as the old Palas tree (Butea frondosa) falls down on the earth with a gust of wind.

ਹਨ੍ਯੋ ਦੇਖਿ ਦੁਸਟੰ ਭਈ ਪੁਹਪ ਬਰਖੰ ॥
hanayo dekh dusattan bhee puhap barakhan |

Seeing the wicked slain, there was a shower of flowers (from the sky).

ਕੀਏ ਦੇਵਤਿਯੋ ਆਨ ਕੈ ਜੀਤ ਕਰਖੰ ॥੩੯॥
kee devatiyo aan kai jeet karakhan |39|

Seeing that tyrants hath died, sang many types of songs of victory.39.

ਪਾਧਰੀ ਛੰਦ ॥
paadharee chhand |

PAADHARI STANZA

ਕੀਨੋ ਨਰਸਿੰਘ ਦੁਸਟੰ ਸੰਘਾਰ ॥
keeno narasingh dusattan sanghaar |

Narsingh defeated the evil demon.

ਧਰਿਯੋ ਸੁ ਬਿਸਨ ਸਪਤਮ ਵਤਾਰ ॥
dhariyo su bisan sapatam vataar |

Narsingh destroyed the tyrant and in this way Vishnu manifested his seventh incarnation.

ਲਿਨੋ ਸੁ ਭਗਤ ਅਪਨੋ ਛਿਨਾਇ ॥
lino su bhagat apano chhinaae |

(He) snatched away his devotee (from the hands of the enemy).

ਸਬ ਸਿਸਟਿ ਧਰਮ ਕਰਮਨ ਚਲਾਇ ॥੪੦॥
sab sisatt dharam karaman chalaae |40|

He protected his devotee and spread righteousness on the earth.40.

ਪ੍ਰਹਲਾਦ ਕਰਿਯੋ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਛਤ੍ਰ ਫੇਰਿ ॥
prahalaad kariyo nrip chhatr fer |

(Narsingh) made Prahlad king and spread the umbrella (over his head).

ਦੀਨੋ ਸੰਘਾਰ ਸਬ ਇਮ ਅੰਧੇਰ ॥
deeno sanghaar sab im andher |

The canopy was swung over the head of Prahlad and he was made a king, and in this way, the demons, who were darkness-incarnate, were destroyed.

ਸਬ ਦੁਸਟ ਅਰਿਸਟ ਦਿਨੇ ਖਪਾਇ ॥
sab dusatt arisatt dine khapaae |

Destroyed all evil and disruptive forces

ਪੁਨਿ ਲਈ ਜੋਤਿ ਜੋਤਹਿ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥੪੧॥
pun lee jot joteh milaae |41|

Destroying all the tyrants and vicious people, Narsingh merged his light in the Supreme Light.41.

ਸਭ ਦੁਸਟ ਮਾਰਿ ਕੀਨੇ ਅਭੇਖ ॥
sabh dusatt maar keene abhekh |

By killing them, all the tyrants were put to shame,

ਪੁਨ ਮਿਲ੍ਯੋ ਜਾਇ ਭੀਤਰ ਅਲੇਖ ॥
pun milayo jaae bheetar alekh |

And that Imperceptible Lord-God merged again in His Own Self.

ਕਬਿ ਜਥਾਮਤਿ ਕਥ੍ਯੋ ਬਿਚਾਰੁ ॥
kab jathaamat kathayo bichaar |

The poet, according to his own understanding, after reflection, hath uttered the above-mentioned saying,

ਇਮ ਧਰਿਯੋ ਬਿਸਨੁ ਸਪਤਮ ਵਤਾਰ ॥੪੨॥
eim dhariyo bisan sapatam vataar |42|

That in this way, Vishnu manifested himself in his seventh incarnation.42.

ਇਤਿ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਬਚਿਤ੍ਰ ਨਾਟਕ ਗ੍ਰੰਥੇ ਨਰਸਿੰਘ ਸਪਤਮੋ ਅਵਤਾਰ ਸਮਾਤਮ ਸਤੁ ਸੁਭਮ ਸਤੁ ॥੭॥
eit sree bachitr naattak granthe narasingh sapatamo avataar samaatam sat subham sat |7|

End of the description of the seventh incarnation of NARSINGH.7.

ਅਥ ਬਾਵਨ ਅਵਤਾਰ ਬਰਨੰ ॥
ath baavan avataar baranan |

Now begins the description of Bawan (Vaman) Incarnation:

ਸ੍ਰੀ ਭਗਉਤੀ ਜੀ ਸਹਾਇ ॥
sree bhgautee jee sahaae |

Let Sri Bhagauti Ji (The Primal Lord) be helpfrul.

ਭੁਜੰਗ ਪ੍ਰਯਾਤ ਛੰਦ ॥
bhujang prayaat chhand |

BHUJANG PRAYAAT STANZA

ਭਏ ਦਿਵਸ ਕੇਤੈ ਨਰਸਿੰਘਾਵਤਾਰੰ ॥
bhe divas ketai narasinghaavataaran |

How much time has passed since Narsingh Avatar?

ਪੁਨਰ ਭੂਮਿ ਮੋ ਪਾਪਾ ਬਾਢ੍ਯੋ ਅਪਾਰੰ ॥
punar bhoom mo paapaa baadtayo apaaran |

After passing away of the epoch of Narsingh incarnation, the sins began to grow in intensity on the earth again.

ਕਰੇ ਲਾਗ ਜਗੰ ਪੁਨਰ ਦੈਤ ਦਾਨੰ ॥
kare laag jagan punar dait daanan |

Then the Demons and Demons started Yagya (disrupting etc.).

ਬਲਿ ਰਾਜ ਕੀ ਦੇਹਿ ਬਢਿਯੋ ਗੁਮਾਨੰ ॥੧॥
bal raaj kee dehi badtiyo gumaanan |1|

The demons began to perform Yajnsas (sacrificial rituals) again and the king Bali became proud of his greatness.1.

ਨ ਪਾਵੈ ਬਲੰ ਦੇਵਤਾ ਜਗ ਬਾਸੰ ॥
n paavai balan devataa jag baasan |

The gods could not receive the sacrificial offering nor could they smell the fragrance of the sacrifice.
