ਆਇਸ ਪਾਇ ਕੈ ਨੰਦਹਿ ਕੋ ਸਭ ਗੋਪਨ ਜਾਇ ਭਲੇ ਰਥ ਸਾਜੇ ॥
aaeis paae kai nandeh ko sabh gopan jaae bhale rath saaje |
ਬੈਠਿ ਸਭੈ ਤਿਨ ਪੈ ਤਿਰੀਆ ਸੰਗਿ ਗਾਵਤ ਜਾਤ ਬਜਾਵਤ ਬਾਜੇ ॥
baitth sabhai tin pai tireea sang gaavat jaat bajaavat baaje |With the concurrence of Nand, all the gopas decorated their chariots, the women sat in them and they started with the resonance of their musical instruments
ਹੇਮ ਕੋ ਦਾਨੁ ਕਰੈ ਜੁ ਦੋਊ ਹਰਿ ਗੋਦ ਲਏ ਜਸੁਦਾ ਇਮ ਰਾਜੈ ॥
hem ko daan karai ju doaoo har god le jasudaa im raajai |Yashoda looks impressive with Krishna in her lap
ਕੈਧਉ ਸੈਲ ਸੁਤਾ ਗਿਰਿ ਭੀਤਰ ਊਚ ਮਨੋ ਮਨਿ ਨੀਲ ਬਿਰਾਜੈ ॥੧੫੩॥
kaidhau sail sutaa gir bheetar aooch mano man neel biraajai |153|It seems that she has obtained this good reward after offering gold in charity Yashoda seems like a rock in the mountain and Krishna in her lap appears like a sapphire.153.
ਗੋਪ ਗਏ ਤਜਿ ਗੋਕੁਲ ਕੋ ਬ੍ਰਿਜ ਆਪਨੇ ਆਪਨੇ ਡੇਰਨ ਆਏ ॥
gop ge taj gokul ko brij aapane aapane dderan aae |The gopas forsaking Gokul came to their abodes in Braja
ਡਾਰ ਦਈ ਲਸੀਆ ਅਰੁ ਅਛਤ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਧੂਪ ਜਗਾਏ ॥
ddaar dee laseea ar achhat baahar bheetar dhoop jagaae |They sprinkled buttermild and fragrances and burnt incenses within their houses and outside
ਤਾ ਛਬਿ ਕੋ ਜਸੁ ਊਚ ਮਹਾ ਕਬਿ ਨੈ ਮੁਖ ਤੇ ਇਮ ਭਾਖਿ ਸੁਨਾਏ ॥
taa chhab ko jas aooch mahaa kab nai mukh te im bhaakh sunaae |
ਰਾਜ ਬਿਭੀਛਨ ਦੈ ਕਿਧੌ ਲੰਕ ਕੋ ਰਾਮ ਜੀ ਧਾਮ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਕਰਾਏ ॥੧੫੪॥
raaj bibheechhan dai kidhau lank ko raam jee dhaam pavitr karaae |154|The great poet has said about this beautiful scene that it seemed to him that after bestowing the kingdom of Lanka on Vibhishana, Ram had purified Lanka again.154.
ਕਬਿਯੋ ਬਾਚ ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥

ਗੋਪ ਸਭੈ ਬ੍ਰਿਜ ਪੁਰ ਬਿਖੈ ਬੈਠੇ ਹਰਖ ਬਢਾਇ ॥
gop sabhai brij pur bikhai baitthe harakh badtaae |
ਅਬ ਮੈ ਲੀਲਾ ਕ੍ਰਿਸਨ ਕੀ ਮੁਖ ਤੇ ਕਹੋ ਸੁਨਾਇ ॥੧੫੫॥
ab mai leelaa krisan kee mukh te kaho sunaae |155|All the gopas were delighted to be in Braja and now I narrate the wonderful sports of Krishna.155.
ਸਵੈਯਾ ॥

ਸਾਤ ਬਿਤੀਤ ਭਏ ਜਬ ਸਾਲ ਲਗੇ ਤਬ ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਚਰਾਵਨ ਗਊਆ ॥
saat biteet bhe jab saal lage tab kaanrah charaavan gaooaa |
ਪਾਤ ਬਜਾਵਤ ਔ ਮੁਰਲੀ ਮਿਲਿ ਗਾਵਤ ਗੀਤ ਸਭੈ ਲਰਕਊਆ ॥
paat bajaavat aau muralee mil gaavat geet sabhai larkaooaa |After seven years Krishna began to graze cows, he produced tunes by combining the leaves of the papal tree and all the boys began to sing on the tune of the flute
ਗੋਪਨ ਲੈ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਆਵਤ ਧਾਵਤ ਤਾੜਤ ਹੈ ਸਭ ਕੋ ਮਨ ਭਊਆ ॥
gopan lai grih aavat dhaavat taarrat hai sabh ko man bhaooaa |He used to bring the gopa boys in his home and also caused fear in them and threatened them at his will
ਦੂਧ ਪਿਆਵਤ ਹੈ ਜਸੁਦਾ ਰਿਝ ਕੈ ਹਰਿ ਖੇਲ ਕਰੈ ਜੁ ਨਚਊਆ ॥੧੫੬॥
doodh piaavat hai jasudaa rijh kai har khel karai ju nchaooaa |156|The mother Yashoda on getting pleased and seeing them dancing she served milk to all of them.156.
ਰੂਖ ਗਏ ਗਿਰ ਕੈ ਧਸਿ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਦੈਤ ਚਲਾਇ ਦਯੋ ਹਰਿ ਜੀ ਜੋ ॥
rookh ge gir kai dhas kai sang dait chalaae dayo har jee jo |The trees of Braja began to fall and with this the demons were also redeemed
ਫੂਲ ਗਿਰੇ ਨਭ ਮੰਡਲ ਤੇ ਉਪਮਾ ਤਿਹ ਕੀ ਕਬਿ ਨੈ ਸੁ ਕਰੀ ਜੋ ॥
fool gire nabh manddal te upamaa tih kee kab nai su karee jo |Seeing this the flowers were showered from the sky the poets gave various similes regarding this scene
ਧਨਿ ਹੀ ਧਨਿ ਭਯੋ ਤਿਹੂੰ ਲੋਕਨਿ ਭੂਮਿ ਕੋ ਭਾਰੁ ਅਬੈ ਘਟ ਕੀਜੋ ॥
dhan hee dhan bhayo tihoon lokan bhoom ko bhaar abai ghatt keejo |
ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਕਥਾ ਸੁ ਕਹੀ ਇਸ ਕੀ ਚਿਤ ਦੈ ਕਬਿ ਪੈ ਇਹ ਕੋ ਜੁ ਸੁਨੀਜੋ ॥੧੫੭॥
sayaam kathaa su kahee is kee chit dai kab pai ih ko ju suneejo |157|The voices of “Bravo, Brovo” were heard in the three worlds and there were supplications “O Lord! Lighten the burden of the earth.” Listen to this story attentively, as described by the poet Shyam.157.
ਕਉਤਕਿ ਦੇਖਿ ਸਭੇ ਬ੍ਰਿਜ ਬਾਲਕ ਡੇਰਨ ਡੇਰਨ ਜਾਇ ਕਹੀ ਹੈ ॥
kautak dekh sabhe brij baalak dderan dderan jaae kahee hai |Seeing this wonderful sport, the boys of Braja, visiting every home, have related it
ਦਾਨੋ ਕੀ ਬਾਤ ਸੁਨੀ ਜਸੁਦਾ ਗਰਿ ਆਨੰਦ ਕੇ ਮਧਿ ਬਾਤ ਡਹੀ ਹੈ ॥
daano kee baat sunee jasudaa gar aanand ke madh baat ddahee hai |Listening about the killing of demons, Yashoda was pleased in her mind
ਤਾ ਛਬਿ ਕੀ ਅਤਿ ਹੀ ਉਪਮਾ ਕਬਿ ਨੇ ਮੁਖ ਤੇ ਸਰਤਾ ਜਿਉ ਕਹੀ ਹੈ ॥
taa chhab kee at hee upamaa kab ne mukh te sarataa jiau kahee hai |Whatever description the poet has given through the flow of his composition, the same has become famous in all the four directions
ਫੈਲਿ ਪਰਿਯੋ ਸੁ ਦਸੋ ਦਿਸ ਕੌ ਗਨਤੀ ਮਨ ਕੀ ਇਹ ਮਧਿ ਬਹੀ ਹੈ ॥੧੫੮॥
fail pariyo su daso dis kau ganatee man kee ih madh bahee hai |158|There was the flowing current of joy in the mind of the mother Yashoda.158.
ਅਥ ਬਕੀ ਦੈਤ ਕੋ ਬਧ ਕਥਨੰ ॥
ath bakee dait ko badh kathanan |Now begins the description of the killing of the demon Bakasura

ਦੈਤ ਹਨ੍ਯੋ ਸੁਨ ਕੈ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਸ੍ਰਉਨਨਿ ਬਾਤ ਕਹੀ ਬਕ ਕੋ ਸੁਨਿ ਲਈਯੈ ॥
dait hanayo sun kai nrip sraunan baat kahee bak ko sun leeyai |
ਹੋਇ ਤਯਾਰ ਅਬੈ ਤੁਮ ਤੋ ਤਜਿ ਕੈ ਮਥੁਰਾ ਬ੍ਰਿਜ ਮੰਡਲਿ ਜਈਯੈ ॥
hoe tayaar abai tum to taj kai mathuraa brij manddal jeeyai |Hearing about the killing of demons, the king Kansa said to Bakasura, “Now you abandon Mathura and go to Braja.”
ਕੈ ਤਸਲੀਮ ਚਲਿਯੋ ਤਹ ਕੌ ਚਬਿ ਡਾਰਤ ਹੋ ਮੁਸਲੀਧਰ ਭਈਯੈ ॥
kai tasaleem chaliyo tah kau chab ddaarat ho musaleedhar bheeyai |He bowed and stated on saying this. “I am going there, when you are sending me
ਕੰਸ ਕਹੀ ਹਸਿ ਕੈ ਉਹਿ ਕੋ ਸੁਨਿ ਰੇ ਉਹਿ ਕੋ ਛਲ ਸੋ ਹਨਿ ਦਈਯੈ ॥੧੫੯॥
kans kahee has kai uhi ko sun re uhi ko chhal so han deeyai |159|” Kansa said smiling, “You will now kill him (Krishna) through deception.”159.
ਪ੍ਰਾਤ ਭਏ ਬਛਰੇ ਸੰਗ ਲੈ ਕਰਿ ਬੀਚ ਗਏ ਬਨ ਕੈ ਗਿਰਧਾਰੀ ॥
praat bhe bachhare sang lai kar beech ge ban kai giradhaaree |As the day dawned, Krishna (Girdhari) took the cows and calfs to the forest
ਫੇਰਿ ਗਏ ਜਮੁਨਾ ਤਟਿ ਪੈ ਬਛਰੇ ਜਲ ਸੁਧ ਅਚੈ ਨਹਿ ਖਾਰੀ ॥
fer ge jamunaa tatt pai bachhare jal sudh achai neh khaaree |Then he went to the bank of Yamuna, where the calves drank pure (and not saltish) water
ਆਇ ਗਯੋ ਉਤ ਦੈਤ ਬਕਾਸੁਰ ਦੇਖਨ ਮਹਿਾਂ ਭਯਾਨਕ ਭਾਰੀ ॥
aae gayo ut dait bakaasur dekhan mahiaan bhayaanak bhaaree |At that time there came a dreadful-looking demon named Badasura
ਲੀਲ ਲਏ ਸਭ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਬਗੁਲਾ ਫਿਰਿ ਛੋਰਿ ਗਏ ਹਰਿ ਜੋਰ ਗਜਾਰੀ ॥੧੬੦॥
leel le sabh hvai bagulaa fir chhor ge har jor gajaaree |160|He transformed himself into a heron and gulped all the cattle, whom Krishna had left there.160.
ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥

ਅਗਨਿ ਰੂਪ ਤਬ ਕ੍ਰਿਸਨ ਧਰਿ ਕੰਠਿ ਦਯੋ ਤਿਹ ਜਾਲ ॥
agan roop tab krisan dhar kantth dayo tih jaal |
ਗਹਿ ਸੁ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਠਾਨਤ ਭਯੋ ਉਗਲ ਡਰਿਯੋ ਤਤਕਾਲ ॥੧੬੧॥
geh su mukat tthaanat bhayo ugal ddariyo tatakaal |161|Then Vishnu assuming the form of fire, burnt his throat and Bakasura considering his end near, out of fear, vomited them all.161.

ਚੋਟ ਕਰੀ ਉਨ ਜੋ ਇਹ ਪੈ ਇਨ ਤੇ ਬਲ ਕੈ ਉਹਿ ਚੋਚ ਗਹੀ ਹੈ ॥
chott karee un jo ih pai in te bal kai uhi choch gahee hai |
ਚੀਰ ਦਈ ਬਲ ਕੈ ਤਨ ਕੋ ਸਰਤਾ ਇਕ ਸ੍ਰਉਨਤ ਸਾਥ ਬਹੀ ਹੈ ॥
cheer dee bal kai tan ko sarataa ik sraunat saath bahee hai |When Bakasura hit them, then Krishna caught his beak with force and ripped him, a stream of blood began to flow
ਅਉਰ ਕਹਾ ਉਪਮਾ ਤਿਹ ਕੀ ਸੁ ਕਹੀ ਜੁ ਕਛੁ ਮਨ ਮਧਿ ਲਹੀ ਹੈ ॥
aaur kahaa upamaa tih kee su kahee ju kachh man madh lahee hai |What more should I describe this spectacle
ਜੋਤਿ ਰਲੀ ਤਿਹ ਮੈ ਇਮ ਜਿਉ ਦਿਨ ਮੈ ਦੁਤਿ ਦੀਪ ਸਮਾਇ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ ॥੧੬੨॥
jot ralee tih mai im jiau din mai dut deep samaae rahee hai |162|The soul of that demon merged in God like the light of the stars merging in the light of the day.162.

ਜਬੈ ਦੈਤ ਆਯੋ ਮਹਾ ਮੁਖਿ ਚਵਰਾਯੋ ਜਬ ਜਾਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਯੋ ਮਨ ਕੀਨੋ ਵਾ ਕੇ ਨਾਸ ਕੋ ॥
jabai dait aayo mahaa mukh chavaraayo jab jaan har paayo man keeno vaa ke naas ko |When the demon came and opened his mouth, then Krishna thought about his destruction
ਸਿੰਧ ਸੁਤਾ ਪਤਿ ਨੈ ਉਖਾਰ ਡਾਰੀ ਚੋਚ ਵਾ ਕੀ ਬਲੀ ਮਾਰ ਡਾਰਿਯੋ ਮਹਾਬਲੀ ਨਾਮ ਜਾਸ ਕੋ ॥
sindh sutaa pat nai ukhaar ddaaree choch vaa kee balee maar ddaariyo mahaabalee naam jaas ko |Krishna, who is worshipped by gods and adepts disjoined his beak and killed the mighty demon
ਭੂਮਿ ਗਿਰ ਪਰਿਯੋ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਦੁਟੂਕ ਮਹਾ ਮੁਖਿ ਵਾ ਕੋ ਤਾਕੀ ਛਬਿ ਕਹਿਬੇ ਕੋ ਭਯੋ ਮਨ ਦਾਸ ਕੋ ॥
bhoom gir pariyo hvai duttook mahaa mukh vaa ko taakee chhab kahibe ko bhayo man daas ko |He fell on the earth in two halves and the poet felt inspired to relate it
ਖੇਲਬੇ ਕੇ ਕਾਜ ਬਨ ਬੀਚ ਗਏ ਬਾਲਕ ਜਿਉ ਲੈ ਕੈ ਕਰ ਮਧਿ ਚੀਰ ਡਾਰੈ ਲਾਬੇ ਘਾਸ ਕੋ ॥੧੬੩॥
khelabe ke kaaj ban beech ge baalak jiau lai kai kar madh cheer ddaarai laabe ghaas ko |163|It seemed that the children having gone to play in the forest cleaved the long grass through the middle.163.
