ਪ੍ਰਥਮ ਪਛਣੀ ਸਬਦ ਕਹਿ ਰਿਪੁ ਅਰਿ ਪਦ ਕੌ ਦੇਹੁ ॥
pratham pachhanee sabad keh rip ar pad kau dehu |Saying first the word 'Pachhani' (Arrow-wielding army), (then) pronounce the word 'Ripu Ari'.
ਨਾਮ ਤੁਪਕ ਕੇ ਹੋਤ ਹੈ ਚੀਨ ਚਤੁਰ ਚਿਤਿ ਲੇਹੁ ॥੫੩੮॥
naam tupak ke hot hai cheen chatur chit lehu |538|Saying firstly the word “Pakhini” and then adding “Ripu Ari”, O wise men! the names of Tupak are formed.538.

ਨਭਚਰਿ ਆਦਿ ਬਖਾਨਿ ਕੈ ਰਿਪੁ ਅਰਿ ਅੰਤਿ ਉਚਾਰਿ ॥
nabhachar aad bakhaan kai rip ar ant uchaar |First recite the verse 'Nabhachari' (army raised with arrows flying in the sky) (then) recite the word 'Ripu Ari' at the end.

naam tupak ke hot hai leejahu samajh prabeen |545|Saying the word “Shaktani” in the beginning and then adding “Ripu Ari”, O skilful persons, the names of Tupak are formed.545.
ਰਥਣੀ ਆਦਿ ਬਖਾਨਿ ਕੈ ਰਿਪੁ ਅਰਿ ਅੰਤਿ ਉਚਾਰਿ ॥

aad basatranee sabad keh rip ar ant bakhaan |First say the word 'Bastrani' (an army living in tents) and finally say the word 'Ripu Ari'.
