Raja once again said, ‘Oh, my dear, don’t be obstinate,
Do not destroy your soul.
‘Please don’t desert your life, and take half of our dominion,’(20)
(The woman replied) O King! What business is this state of mine?
‘What good will be this sovereignty for me? This must remain with you.
I will not live for four ages,
‘I won’t stay alive all the four ages. My lover is dead but I will remain extant (by becoming a sati).’(21)
Then the king again sent the queen
Then the Raja sent the Rani afresh and asked, ‘You go and try again,
Like how to save her from sati
‘And some how persuade her not to take such action.’(22)
Then the queen went to him.
Rani went to her and put in efforts through conversation.
Sati said I say one thing.
Sati said, ‘If you agree to one of my conditions, then I can abandon my perversity.’( 23)
Sati said to the queen, "Give me your husband."
Sati told Rani, ‘You give me your husband and live with me as a slave.
I will make love with your king while watching you
‘You will fetch water-pitcher while Raja is watching.’(24)
Rani said that (I) will give you a husband
Rai said, ‘I will give you my spouse and will serve you as a servant.
Seeing with my eyes, I will make you love with the king
‘I will watch Raja making love with you and fetch pitcher of water too.’(25)
(The king said to Sati) O Sati! do not burn in fire,
(Raja) ‘Don’t become sati by burning in fire. Please say something.
If you say so, I will marry you.
‘If you desire I will marry you and, from a pauper, I will alleviate you to a Rani.’(26)
Saying this (the king) took him by the arm
Then, holding by her arms, he sat her in the palanquin,
O woman! Do not burn in the fire
And said, ‘Oh, my woman, you don’t burn yourself, I will wed you.’ ( 27)
