ਕਰੁਣਾ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਕਾਮਲ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ॥
karunaa nidhaan kaamal kripaal |He is treasure of sympathy and perfectly Merciful!
ਦੁਖ ਦੋਖ ਹਰਤ ਦਾਤਾ ਦਿਆਲ ॥
dukh dokh harat daataa diaal |He the Donor and Merciful Lord removes all sufferings and blemishes
ਅੰਜਨ ਬਿਹੀਨ ਅਨਭੰਜ ਨਾਥ ॥
anjan biheen anabhanj naath |He is without the impact of maya and is an Infrangible!
ਜਲ ਥਲ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਉ ਸਰਬਤ੍ਰ ਸਾਥ ॥੬॥੨੩੬॥
jal thal prabhaau sarabatr saath |6|236|Lord, His Glory pervades in water and on land and is the companion of all!6. 236
ਜਿਹ ਜਾਤ ਪਾਤ ਨਹੀ ਭੇਦ ਭਰਮ ॥
jih jaat paat nahee bhed bharam |He is without caste, lineage, contrast and illusion,!
ਜਿਹ ਰੰਗ ਰੂਪ ਨਹੀ ਏਕ ਧਰਮ ॥
jih rang roop nahee ek dharam |He is without colour, form and special religious discipline
ਜਿਹ ਸਤ੍ਰ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਦੋਊ ਏਕ ਸਾਰ ॥
jih satr mitr doaoo ek saar |For Him the enemies and friends are the same!
ਅਛੈ ਸਰੂਪ ਅਬਿਚਲ ਅਪਾਰ ॥੭॥੨੩੭॥
achhai saroop abichal apaar |7|237|His invincible form is Everlasting and Infinite!7. 237
ਜਾਨੀ ਨ ਜਾਇ ਜਿਹ ਰੂਪ ਰੇਖ ॥
jaanee na jaae jih roop rekh |His form and mark cannot be known!
ਕਹਿ ਬਾਸ ਤਾਸ ਕਹਿ ਕਉਨ ਭੇਖ ॥
keh baas taas keh kaun bhekh |Where doth He live? And what is His garb?
ਕਹਿ ਨਾਮ ਤਾਸ ਹੈ ਕਵਨ ਜਾਤ ॥
keh naam taas hai kavan jaat |What is His Name? and what is His caste?
ਜਿਹ ਸਤ੍ਰ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਨਹੀ ਪੁਤ੍ਰ ਭ੍ਰਾਤ ॥੮॥੨੩੮॥
jih satr mitr nahee putr bhraat |8|238|He is without any enemy, friend, son and brother!8. 238
ਕਰੁਣਾ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਕਾਰਣ ਸਰੂਪ ॥
karunaa nidhaan kaaran saroop |He is the treasure of Mercy and the cause of all causes!
ਜਿਹ ਚਕ੍ਰ ਚਿਹਨ ਨਹੀ ਰੰਗ ਰੂਪ ॥
jih chakr chihan nahee rang roop |He hath no mark, sign, colour and form
ਜਿਹ ਖੇਦ ਭੇਦ ਨਹੀ ਕਰਮ ਕਾਲ ॥
jih khed bhed nahee karam kaal |He is without suffering, action and death!
ਸਭ ਜੀਵ ਜੰਤ ਕੀ ਕਰਤ ਪਾਲ ॥੯॥੨੩੯॥
sabh jeev jant kee karat paal |9|239|He is the Sustainer of all the beings and creatures!9. 239
ਉਰਧੰ ਬਿਰਹਤ ਸੁਧੰ ਸਰੂਪ ॥
auradhan birahat sudhan saroop |He is the loftiest, biggest and Perfect Entity!
ਬੁਧੰ ਅਪਾਲ ਜੁਧੰ ਅਨੂਪ ॥
budhan apaal judhan anoop |His intellect is boundless and is unique in warfare
ਜਿਹ ਰੂਪ ਰੇਖ ਨਹੀ ਰੰਗ ਰਾਗ ॥
jih roop rekh nahee rang raag |He is without form, line, colour and affection!
ਅਨਛਿਜ ਤੇਜ ਅਨਭਿਜ ਅਦਾਗ ॥੧੦॥੨੪੦॥
anachhij tej anabhij adaag |10|240|His Glory is Unassailable, Unappeasable and stainless!10. 240
ਜਲ ਥਲ ਮਹੀਪ ਬਨ ਤਨ ਦੁਰੰਤ ॥
jal thal maheep ban tan durant |He is the king of waters and lands; He, the Infinite Lord pervades the forests and the blades of grass!;
ਜਿਹ ਨੇਤਿ ਨੇਤਿ ਨਿਸ ਦਿਨ ਉਚਰੰਤ ॥
jih net net nis din ucharant |He is called ‘Neti, Neti’ (Not this, Not this…Infinite) night and day
ਪਾਇਓ ਨ ਜਾਇ ਜਿਹ ਪੈਰ ਪਾਰ ॥
paaeio na jaae jih pair paar |His limits cannot be known!
ਦੀਨਾਨ ਦੋਖ ਦਹਿਤਾ ਉਦਾਰ ॥੧੧॥੨੪੧॥
deenaan dokh dahitaa udaar |11|241|He, the Generous Lord, burns the blemishes of the lowly!11. 241
ਕਈ ਕੋਟ ਇੰਦ੍ਰ ਜਿਹ ਪਾਨਿਹਾਰ ॥
kee kott indr jih paanihaar |Millions of Indras are at His service!
ਕਈ ਕੋਟ ਰੁਦ੍ਰ ਜੁਗੀਆ ਦੁਆਰ ॥
kee kott rudr jugeea duaar |Millions of the Yogi Rudras (Shivas stand at His Gate)
ਕਈ ਬੇਦ ਬਿਆਸ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਅਨੰਤ ॥
kee bed biaas brahamaa anant |Many Ved Vyas and innumerable Brahmas!
ਜਿਹ ਨੇਤ ਨੇਤ ਨਿਸ ਦਿਨ ਉਚਰੰਤ ॥੧੨॥੨੪੨॥
jih net net nis din ucharant |12|242|Utter the words ‘Neti, Neti’ about Him, night and day!12. 242

ਦੀਨਨ ਕੀ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲ ਕਰੈ ਨਿਤ ਸੰਤ ਉਬਾਰ ਗਨੀਮਨ ਗਾਰੈ ॥
deenan kee pratipaal karai nit sant ubaar ganeeman gaarai |He always Sustains the Lowly, protects the saints and destroys the enemies.
ਪਛ ਪਸੂ ਨਗ ਨਾਗ ਨਰਾਧਪ ਸਰਬ ਸਮੈ ਸਭ ਕੋ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਰੈ ॥
pachh pasoo nag naag naraadhap sarab samai sabh ko pratipaarai |At all times he Sustains all, animals, birds, mountains (or trees), serpents and men (kings of men).
ਪੋਖਤ ਹੈ ਜਲ ਮੈ ਥਲ ਮੈ ਪਲ ਮੈ ਕਲ ਕੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਮ ਬਿਚਾਰੈ ॥
pokhat hai jal mai thal mai pal mai kal ke naheen karam bichaarai |He Sustains in an instant all the beings living in water and on land and doth not ponder over their actions.
ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲ ਦਇਆ ਨਿਧਿ ਦੋਖਨ ਦੇਖਤ ਹੈ ਪਰ ਦੇਤ ਨ ਹਾਰੈ ॥੧॥੨੪੩॥
deen deaal deaa nidh dokhan dekhat hai par det na haarai |1|243|The Merciful Lord of the Lowly and the treasure of Mercy sees their blemishes, but doth not fail in His Bounty. 1.243.
ਦਾਹਤ ਹੈ ਦੁਖ ਦੋਖਨ ਕੌ ਦਲ ਦੁਜਨ ਕੇ ਪਲ ਮੈ ਦਲ ਡਾਰੈ ॥
daahat hai dukh dokhan kau dal dujan ke pal mai dal ddaarai |He burns the sufferings and blemishes and in an instant mashes the forces of the vicious people.
ਖੰਡ ਅਖੰਡ ਪ੍ਰਚੰਡ ਪਹਾਰਨ ਪੂਰਨ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਕੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਸਭਾਰੈ ॥
khandd akhandd prachandd pahaaran pooran prem kee preet sabhaarai |He even destroys them who are mighty and Glorious and assail the unassailable and responds the devotion of perfect love.
ਪਾਰ ਨ ਪਾਇ ਸਕੈ ਪਦਮਾਪਤਿ ਬੇਦ ਕਤੇਬ ਅਭੇਦ ਉਚਾਰੈ ॥
paar na paae sakai padamaapat bed kateb abhed uchaarai |Even Vishnu cannot know His end and the Vedas and Katebs (Semitic Scriptures) call Him Indiscriminate.
ਰੋਜੀ ਹੀ ਰਾਜ ਬਿਲੋਕਤ ਰਾਜਕ ਰੋਖ ਰੂਹਾਨ ਕੀ ਰੋਜੀ ਨ ਟਾਰੈ ॥੨॥੨੪੪॥
rojee hee raaj bilokat raajak rokh roohaan kee rojee na ttaarai |2|244|The Provider-Lord always sees our secrets, even then in anger He doth not stop His munificence.2.244.
ਕੀਟ ਪਤੰਗ ਕੁਰੰਗ ਭੁਜੰਗਮ ਭੂਤ ਭਵਿਖ ਭਵਾਨ ਬਨਾਏ ॥
keett patang kurang bhujangam bhoot bhavikh bhavaan banaae |He Created in the past, creates in the present and shall create in the future the beings including insects, moths, deer and snakes.
ਦੇਵ ਅਦੇਵ ਖਪੇ ਅਹੰਮੇਵ ਨ ਭੇਵ ਲਖਿਓ ਭ੍ਰਮ ਸਿਓ ਭਰਮਾਏ ॥
dev adev khape ahamev na bhev lakhio bhram sio bharamaae |The goods and demons have been consumed in ego, but could not know the mystery of the Lord, being engrossed in delusion.
ਬੇਦ ਪੁਰਾਨ ਕਤੇਬ ਕੁਰਾਨ ਹਸੇਬ ਥਕੇ ਕਰ ਹਾਥ ਨ ਆਏ ॥
bed puraan kateb kuraan haseb thake kar haath na aae |The Vedas, Puranas, Katebs and the Quran have tired of giving His account, but the Lord could not be comprehended.
ਪੂਰਨ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਉ ਬਿਨਾ ਪਤਿ ਸਿਉ ਕਿਨ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਪਦਮਾਪਤਿ ਪਾਏ ॥੩॥੨੪੫॥
pooran prem prabhaau binaa pat siau kin sree padamaapat paae |3|245|Without the impact of perfect love, who hath realized Lord-God with grace? 3.245.
ਆਦਿ ਅਨੰਤ ਅਗਾਧ ਅਦ੍ਵੈਖ ਸੁ ਭੂਤ ਭਵਿਖ ਭਵਾਨ ਅਭੈ ਹੈ ॥
aad anant agaadh advaikh su bhoot bhavikh bhavaan abhai hai |The Primal, Infinite, Unfathomable Lord is without malice and is fearless in the past, present and future.
ਅੰਤਿ ਬਿਹੀਨ ਅਨਾਤਮ ਆਪ ਅਦਾਗ ਅਦੋਖ ਅਛਿਦ੍ਰ ਅਛੈ ਹੈ ॥
ant biheen anaatam aap adaag adokh achhidr achhai hai |He is endless, Himself Selfless, stainless, blemishless, flawless and invincible.
ਲੋਗਨ ਕੇ ਕਰਤਾ ਹਰਤਾ ਜਲ ਮੈ ਥਲ ਮੈ ਭਰਤਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਵੈ ਹੈ ॥
logan ke karataa harataa jal mai thal mai bharataa prabh vai hai |He is the Creator and Destroyer of all in water and on land and also their Sustainer-Lord.
ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲ ਦਇਆ ਕਰ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਪਤਿ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਪਦਮਾਪਤਿ ਏਹੈ ॥੪॥੨੪੬॥
deen deaal deaa kar sree pat sundar sree padamaapat ehai |4|246|He, the Lord of maya, is Compassionate to the Lowly, source of Mercy and most beautiful.4.246.
ਕਾਮ ਨ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਨ ਲੋਭ ਨ ਮੋਹ ਨ ਰੋਗ ਨ ਸੋਗ ਨ ਭੋਗ ਨ ਭੈ ਹੈ ॥
kaam na krodh na lobh na moh na rog na sog na bhog na bhai hai |He is without lust, anger, greed, attachment, ailment, sorrow, enjoyment and fear.
ਦੇਹ ਬਿਹੀਨ ਸਨੇਹ ਸਭੋ ਤਨ ਨੇਹ ਬਿਰਕਤ ਅਗੇਹ ਅਛੈ ਹੈ ॥
deh biheen saneh sabho tan neh birakat ageh achhai hai |He is body-less, loving everybody but without worldly attachment, invincible and cannot be held in grasp.
ਜਾਨ ਕੋ ਦੇਤ ਅਜਾਨ ਕੋ ਦੇਤ ਜਮੀਨ ਕੋ ਦੇਤ ਜਮਾਨ ਕੋ ਦੈ ਹੈ ॥
jaan ko det ajaan ko det jameen ko det jamaan ko dai hai |He provides sustenance to all animate and inanimate beings and all those living on the earth and in the sky.
ਕਾਹੇ ਕੋ ਡੋਲਤ ਹੈ ਤੁਮਰੀ ਸੁਧ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਪਦਮਾਪਤਿ ਲੈਹੈ ॥੫॥੨੪੭॥
kaahe ko ddolat hai tumaree sudh sundar sree padamaapat laihai |5|247|Why dost thou waver, O creature! The beautiful Lord of maya will take care of thee. 5.247.
ਰੋਗਨ ਤੇ ਅਰ ਸੋਗਨ ਤੇ ਜਲ ਜੋਗਨ ਤੇ ਬਹੁ ਭਾਂਤਿ ਬਚਾਵੈ ॥
rogan te ar sogan te jal jogan te bahu bhaant bachaavai |He protects in many blows, but none doth inflict thy body.
ਸਤ੍ਰ ਅਨੇਕ ਚਲਾਵਤ ਘਾਵ ਤਊ ਤਨ ਏਕ ਨ ਲਾਗਨ ਪਾਵੈ ॥
satr anek chalaavat ghaav taoo tan ek na laagan paavai |The enemy strikes many blows, but none doth inflict thy body.
ਰਾਖਤ ਹੈ ਅਪਨੋ ਕਰ ਦੈ ਕਰ ਪਾਪ ਸੰਬੂਹ ਨ ਭੇਟਨ ਪਾਵੈ ॥
raakhat hai apano kar dai kar paap sanbooh na bhettan paavai |When the Lord protects with his own hands, but none of the sins even comes near thee.
ਔਰ ਕੀ ਬਾਤ ਕਹਾ ਕਹ ਤੋ ਸੌ ਸੁ ਪੇਟ ਹੀ ਕੇ ਪਟ ਬੀਚ ਬਚਾਵੈ ॥੬॥੨੪੮॥
aauar kee baat kahaa kah to sau su pett hee ke patt beech bachaavai |6|248|What else should I say unto you, He protects (the infant) even in the membranes of the womb.6.248.
ਜਛ ਭੁਜੰਗ ਸੁ ਦਾਨਵ ਦੇਵ ਅਭੇਵ ਤੁਮੈ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਕਰ ਧਿਆਵੈ ॥
jachh bhujang su daanav dev abhev tumai sabh hee kar dhiaavai |The Yakshas, serpents, demons and gods meditate on Thee considering Thee as Indiscriminant.
ਭੂਮਿ ਅਕਾਸ ਪਤਾਲ ਰਸਾਤਲ ਜਛ ਭੁਜੰਗ ਸਭੈ ਸਿਰ ਨਿਆਵੈ ॥
bhoom akaas pataal rasaatal jachh bhujang sabhai sir niaavai |The beings of the earth, Yakshas of the sky and the serpents of the nether-world bow their heads before thee.
ਪਾਇ ਸਕੈ ਨਹੀ ਪਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਭਾ ਹੂ ਕੋ ਨੇਤ ਹੀ ਨੇਤਹ ਬੇਦ ਬਤਾਵੈ ॥
paae sakai nahee paar prabhaa hoo ko net hee netah bed bataavai |None could comprehend the limits of Thy Glory and even the Vedas declare Thee as ‘Neti, Neti’
ਖੋਜ ਥਕੇ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਖੁਜੀਆ ਸੁਰ ਹਾਰ ਪਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਹਾਥ ਨ ਆਵੈ ॥੭॥੨੪੯॥
khoj thake sabh hee khujeea sur haar pare har haath na aavai |7|249|All the searchers have got tired in their search and none of them could realize the Lord. 7.249.
ਨਾਰਦ ਸੇ ਚਤੁਰਾਨਨ ਸੇ ਰੁਮਨਾ ਰਿਖ ਸੇ ਸਭ ਹੂੰ ਮਿਲਿ ਗਾਇਓ ॥
naarad se chaturaanan se rumanaa rikh se sabh hoon mil gaaeio |Narada, Brahma and the sage Rumna all have together sung Thy Praises.
ਬੇਦ ਕਤੇਬ ਨ ਭੇਦ ਲਖਿਓ ਸਭ ਹਾਰ ਪਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਹਾਥ ਨ ਆਇਓ ॥
bed kateb na bhed lakhio sabh haar pare har haath na aaeio |The Vedas and Katebs could not know His sectet all have got tired, but the Lord could not be realised.
ਪਾਇ ਸਕੈ ਨਹੀ ਪਾਰ ਉਮਾਪਤਿ ਸਿਧ ਸਨਾਥ ਸਨੰਤਨ ਧਿਆਇਓ ॥
paae sakai nahee paar umaapat sidh sanaath sanantan dhiaaeio |Shiva also could not know His limits the adepts (Siddhas) alongwith Naths and Sanak etc. meditated upon Him.
ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰੋ ਤਿਹ ਕੋ ਮਨ ਮੈਂ ਜਿਹ ਕੋ ਅਮਿਤੋਜਿ ਸਭੈ ਜਗੁ ਛਾਇਓ ॥੮॥੨੫੦॥
dhiaan dharo tih ko man main jih ko amitoj sabhai jag chhaaeio |8|250|Concentrate upon Him in thy mind, whose Unlimited Glory is spread in all the world.8.250.
ਬੇਦ ਪੁਰਾਨ ਕਤੇਬ ਕੁਰਾਨ ਅਭੇਦ ਨ੍ਰਿਪਾਨ ਸਭੈ ਪਚ ਹਾਰੇ ॥
bed puraan kateb kuraan abhed nripaan sabhai pach haare |The Vedas, Puranas, Katebs and the Quran and kings…all are tired and greatly afflicted by not knowing the Lord’s mystery.
ਭੇਦ ਨ ਪਾਇ ਸਕਿਓ ਅਨਭੇਦ ਕੋ ਖੇਦਤ ਹੈ ਅਨਛੇਦ ਪੁਕਾਰੇ ॥
bhed na paae sakio anabhed ko khedat hai anachhed pukaare |They could not comprehend the mystery of the Indis-criminate Lord, being greatly aggrieved, they recite Name of the Unassailable Lord.
ਰਾਗ ਨ ਰੂਪ ਨ ਰੇਖ ਨ ਰੰਗ ਨ ਸਾਕ ਨ ਸੋਗ ਨ ਸੰਗਿ ਤਿਹਾਰੇ ॥
raag na roop na rekh na rang na saak na sog na sang tihaare |The Lord who is without affection, form, mark, colour, relative, and sorrow, abides with thee.
ਆਦਿ ਅਨਾਦਿ ਅਗਾਧ ਅਭੇਖ ਅਦ੍ਵੈਖ ਜਪਿਓ ਤਿਨ ਹੀ ਕੁਲ ਤਾਰੇ ॥੯॥੨੫੧॥
aad anaad agaadh abhekh advaikh japio tin hee kul taare |9|251|Those who have remembered that Primal , beginningless, guiseless and blemishless Lord, they have ferried across their whole clan.9.251
ਤੀਰਥ ਕੋਟ ਕੀਏ ਇਸਨਾਨ ਦੀਏ ਬਹੁ ਦਾਨ ਮਹਾ ਬ੍ਰਤ ਧਾਰੇ ॥
teerath kott kee isanaan dee bahu daan mahaa brat dhaare |Having taken bath at millions of pilgrim-stations, having given many gifts in charity and giving observed important fasts.
ਦੇਸ ਫਿਰਿਓ ਕਰ ਭੇਸ ਤਪੋਧਨ ਕੇਸ ਧਰੇ ਨ ਮਿਲੇ ਹਰਿ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥
des firio kar bhes tapodhan kes dhare na mile har piaare |Having wandered in the garb of an ascetic in many countries and having worn matted hair, the beloved Lord could not be realised.
ਆਸਨ ਕੋਟ ਕਰੇ ਅਸਟਾਂਗ ਧਰੇ ਬਹੁ ਨਿਆਸ ਕਰੇ ਮੁਖ ਕਾਰੇ ॥
aasan kott kare asattaang dhare bahu niaas kare mukh kaare |Adopting millions of postures and observing the eight steps of Yoga, touching the limbs while reciting the mantras and blackening the face.
ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲ ਅਕਾਲ ਭਜੇ ਬਿਨੁ ਅੰਤ ਕੋ ਅੰਤ ਕੇ ਧਾਮ ਸਿਧਾਰੇ ॥੧੦॥੨੫੨॥
deen deaal akaal bhaje bin ant ko ant ke dhaam sidhaare |10|252|But without the remembrance of the Non-temporal and Merciful Lord of the lowly, one will ultimately go to the abode of Yama. 10.252.

ਅਤ੍ਰ ਕੇ ਚਲਯਾ ਛਿਤ੍ਰ ਛਤ੍ਰ ਕੇ ਧਰਯਾ ਛਤ੍ਰ ਧਾਰੀਓ ਕੇ ਛਲਯਾ ਮਹਾ ਸਤ੍ਰਨ ਕੇ ਸਾਲ ਹੈਂ ॥
atr ke chalayaa chhitr chhatr ke dharayaa chhatr dhaareeo ke chhalayaa mahaa satran ke saal hain |He operates the weapons, beguiles the sovereigns of the earth having canopies over their heads and mashes the mighty enemies.
ਦਾਨ ਕੇ ਦਿਵਯਾ ਮਹਾ ਮਾਨ ਕੇ ਬਢਯਾ ਅਵਸਾਨ ਕੇ ਦਿਵਯਾ ਹੈਂ ਕਟਯਾ ਜਮ ਜਾਲ ਹੈਂ ॥
daan ke divayaa mahaa maan ke badtayaa avasaan ke divayaa hain kattayaa jam jaal hain |He is the Donor of gifts, He causes to enhance the great honour, He is the giver of encouragement for greater effort and is the cutter of the snare of death.
