“I have come too and want to show my skill.” (17)
(Hearing the words of Raja Param Singh) the heart of the king (Himmat Singh) became happy.
The Raja felt blissful and thought over what he was saying.
It will shoot arrows with both eyes closed (and failing that).
‘With eyes closed he won’t be able to hit and I will take his both the wives.’ (18)
Both his eyes were blindfolded.
He was blindfolded and was given a bow and arrows.
Whipping the horse (he) shot the arrow.
Whipping, the horse was made to run and the woman standing thereclapped her hands.(19)
Everyone heard the word of applause.
Every body heard the noise (of clapping) and thought the arrow had hit.
Then the bamboo was removed and seen.
When they pulled out the bamboo, they saw the funnel lying therewith an arrow in it.(20)
Bhujang Chhand
The king defeated his wife and took her away.
Raja was nonplussed as if Satan had taken over him.
He sat with his head down and did not speak.
He sat down with his head hanging, then he swung and fell flat witheyes closed.(21)
After the passage of four hours, some Surat came.
After four watches, when he awoke, he found himselflying on the ground.
Somewhere the turban fell and somewhere the necklaces broke.
His turban had flown away and the beads of his necklace were scattered,as if he had fallen like dead soldier.(22)
All the people ran and took care of him.
People came running, lifted him up and sprinkled rose water over him.
After five hours, the king regained consciousness.
After a few hours, when he regained full consciousness, the servantsspoke in sycophantic tones.(23)
O my Majesty! What are you afraid of?
‘Oh, Our Great Raja, why are you dreading, all your braves lacedwith armours are around you,
If it is permissible, let us kill him or bring him tied up.
‘If you order, we will kill him, tie him or cut him to bow in repentance.’(24)
Savaiyya
Internally full of rage, but, smilingly, Bikrim Singh said aloud,
‘He is benevolent and young and, thirdly, he is superior human being,
‘By keeping his one eye closed, he has hit at the funnel, why shouldI get revengeful on him.
‘He is brave and handsome Raja, how can he be annihilated.’(25)
Chaupaee
Saying this, the king nodded.
Declaring thus he hung his head but did not reprimand the Rani.
(He) took the woman from the house and then gave it (to him).
Bringing the woman out of his palace he gave her away and throughthis trickery he (Parm Singh) won over the lady.(26)
Dohira
Through such a manoeuvre Rani achieved him as well,
And, getting fully satisfied, brought him home.(27)
Sortha
He (Himmat Singh) was taken in through a clever stint withoutunderstanding,
And he remained qu;et and kept sitting there with his head bowingdown.(28)(1)

Chaupaee
There was a great king named Sabak Singh.
Sabhak Singh had been a great king and Baaj Mati was his pretty wife.
The king was not ashamed of any (woman).
Raja was not shy; with all the females he played love games.(1)
The woman who does not obey him,
Any woman who would not consent, he used to get her kidnapped.
The king was very fond of him
He would have plenty oflove play and never cared about his Rani.(2)
Baj Mati (Queen) was very angry in her mind,
Baaj Mati always felt very remorse but Sabhak Singh remained careless.
Then the queen made a character
Once Rani played a trick and prevented Raja from his inauspiciousdeeds.(3)
A beautiful woman would see a queen,
Whenever she saw a beautiful woman, she would go to Sabhak Singhand tell him,
O Rajan! You call that lady
‘You, Raja, call that woman and make love with her.’(4)
When the king heard this
Acquiescing to this Raja would get that woman,
Whose (woman) queen beauty says,
And whom so ever that Rani praised, Raja would play with her.(5)
(Queen thinks) What does this mean to me?
‘What do I lose in this (action of procuring the women)?I imagine I am engaging Raja myself.
On which my king finds happiness,
