ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥
doharaa |Dohira
ਬਾਨੀ ਤਹਾ ਅਕਾਸ ਕੀ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਹੈ ਤੁਮੈ ਬਨਾਇ ॥
baanee tahaa akaas kee hvai hai tumai banaae |“Then, there will descend the celestial renderings,
ਤਬ ਤੁਮ ਸਤਿ ਪਛਾਨਿਯੋ ਜੋਗੀ ਪਹੁਚ੍ਯੋ ਆਇ ॥੫੬॥
tab tum sat pachhaaniyo jogee pahuchayo aae |56|“Through which you will acknowledge the God-seeking Yogi.”(56)

ਰਾਨੀ ਬਨ ਮੈ ਸਦਨ ਸਵਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
raanee ban mai sadan savaariyo |Rani built a palace in Ban.
ਛਾਤ ਬੀਚ ਰੌਜਨ ਇਕ ਧਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
chhaat beech rauajan ik dhaariyo |Rani built a mansion in the jungle and constructed an alcove in there,
ਜਾ ਕੇ ਬਿਖੇ ਮਨੁਖ ਛਪਿ ਰਹੈ ॥
jaa ke bikhe manukh chhap rahai |In which people can hide
ਜੋ ਚਾਹੈ ਚਿਤ ਮੈ ਸੋ ਕਹੈ ॥੫੭॥
jo chaahai chit mai so kahai |57|Behind which a man could hide and where he could do whatever he liked.(57)
ਬੈਠੇ ਤਰੇ ਨਜਰਿ ਨਹਿ ਆਵੈ ॥
baitthe tare najar neh aavai |(He) could not look down while sitting
ਬਾਨੀ ਨਭ ਹੀ ਕੀ ਲਖਿ ਜਾਵੈ ॥
baanee nabh hee kee lakh jaavai |The person sitting beneath could not see him and his voice would seem as an articulation from heaven.
ਰਾਨੀ ਤਹਾ ਪੁਰਖ ਬੈਠਾਯੋ ॥
raanee tahaa purakh baitthaayo |Rani made a man sit there.
ਅਮਿਤ ਦਰਬੁ ਦੈ ਤਾਹਿ ਸਿਖਾਯੋ ॥੫੮॥
amit darab dai taeh sikhaayo |58|Rani asked a man to sit in there, and, with the incentive of lot of wealth, she trained him.(58)
ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥

ਏਕ ਪੁਰਖ ਚਾਕਰ ਹੁਤੋ ਨਾਮ ਸਿੰਘ ਆਨੂਪ ॥
ek purakh chaakar huto naam singh aanoop |She had a servant named Anoop Singh,
ਵਹਿ ਜੁਗਿਯਾ ਕੀ ਬੈਸ ਥੋ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਸਕਲ ਸਰੂਪ ॥੫੯॥
veh jugiyaa kee bais tho taa kee sakal saroop |59|In his profile he looked as if he was in the guise of Yogi.(59)

ਤਾ ਸੌ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਨ੍ਰਿਪਹਿ ਸਮੁਝੈਯਹੁ ॥
taa sau kahiyo nripeh samujhaiyahu |He said (that somehow) you should explain to the king
ਤੁਮ ਜੋਗੀ ਆਪਹਿ ਠਹਿਰੈਯਹੁ ॥
tum jogee aapeh tthahiraiyahu |She told him, ‘Acting like a yogi, you make Raja to understand,
ਕ੍ਯੋ ਹੂੰ ਨ੍ਰਿਪਹਿ ਮੋਰਿ ਘਰ ਲ੍ਯਾਵਹੁ ॥
kayo hoon nripeh mor ghar layaavahu |Like how to bring the king back home.
ਜੋ ਕਛੁ ਮੁਖ ਮਾਗਹੁ ਸੋ ਪਾਵਹੁ ॥੬੦॥
jo kachh mukh maagahu so paavahu |60|‘And bring him round to come home and you will get whatever you desire.’(60)
ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥

ਜਬ ਤਾ ਸੋ ਐਸੋ ਬਚਨ ਰਾਨੀ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਬੁਲਾਇ ॥
jab taa so aaiso bachan raanee kahiyo bulaae |When Rani had called him and asked him to talk like that,
ਚਤੁਰ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਆਗੇ ਹੁਤੋ ਸਕਲ ਭੇਦ ਗਯੋ ਪਾਇ ॥੬੧॥
chatur purakh aage huto sakal bhed gayo paae |61|He, being a clever man, comprehended all the secret.(61)
ਚੌਪਈ ॥

ਤਬ ਰਾਨੀ ਰਾਜਾ ਪਹਿ ਆਈ ॥
tab raanee raajaa peh aaee |Then the queen came to the king
ਲੀਨੇ ਦ੍ਵੈ ਕੰਥਾ ਕਰਵਾਈ ॥
leene dvai kanthaa karavaaee |Then the Rani came to the Raja and got two coffins prepared.
ਇਕ ਤੁਮ ਧਰੋ ਏਕ ਹੌ ਧਰਿ ਹੋ ॥
eik tum dharo ek hau dhar ho |(He came to the king and said) You take one and I will take one.
ਤੁਮਰੇ ਸੰਗ ਤਪਸ੍ਯਾ ਕਰਿਹੋ ॥੬੨॥
tumare sang tapasayaa kariho |62|‘You wear one and other I will. I will go in for meditation with you.’(62)
ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥

ਜਬ ਰਾਨੀ ਐਸੇ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਤਬ ਰਾਜੈ ਮੁਸਕਾਇ ॥
jab raanee aaise kahiyo tab raajai musakaae |When Rani said so, Raja smiled and asked,
ਜੋ ਤਾ ਸੋ ਬਾਤੈ ਕਰੀ ਸੋ ਤੁਹਿ ਕਹੋ ਸੁਨਾਇ ॥੬੩॥
jo taa so baatai karee so tuhi kaho sunaae |63|‘Whatever he had talked, you let me know.’(63)
ਸਵੈਯਾ ॥

ਹੈ ਬਨ ਕੋ ਬਸਿਬੋ ਦੁਖ ਕੋ ਕਹੁ ਸੁੰਦਰਿ ਤੂ ਸੰਗ ਕਯੋਂ ਨਿਬਹੈ ਹੈ ॥
hai ban ko basibo dukh ko kahu sundar too sang kayon nibahai hai |‘’Aye, Pretty Woman, to live in the jungle is very wearisome, how would you tolerate?
ਸੀਤ ਤੁਸਾਰ ਪਰੈ ਤਨ ਪੈ ਸੁ ਇਤੋ ਤਬ ਤੌ ਹਠਹੂੰ ਨ ਗਹੈ ਹੈ ॥
seet tusaar parai tan pai su ito tab tau hatthahoon na gahai hai |“There you will have to bear on your body all sort of cold and heat, how would you survive that?
ਸਾਲ ਤਮਾਲ ਬਡੇ ਜਹ ਬ੍ਰਯਾਲ ਨਿਹਾਲ ਤਿਨੈ ਬਹੁਧਾ ਬਿਲਲੈ ਹੈ ॥
saal tamaal badde jah brayaal nihaal tinai bahudhaa bilalai hai |“There exist the reptiles as big as the trees, looking at them, you will cry,
ਤੂ ਸੁਕਮਾਰਿ ਕਰੀ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਸੁ ਹਾਰਿ ਪਰੇ ਤੁਹਿ ਕੌਨ ਉਠੈ ਹੈ ॥੬੪॥
too sukamaar karee karataar su haar pare tuhi kauan utthai hai |64|“There prevails extreme drought, if you ever fell down, who will help you to get up.”(64)

ਸੀਤ ਸਮੀਰ ਸਹੌ ਤਨ ਪੈ ਸੁਨੁ ਨਾਥ ਤੁਮੈ ਅਬ ਛਾਡਿ ਨ ਜੈਹੋ ॥
seet sameer sahau tan pai sun naath tumai ab chhaadd na jaiho |‘Listen my master, I will bear the cold winds on my body but will not leave you,
ਸਾਲ ਤਮਾਲ ਬਡੇ ਜਹ ਬ੍ਰਯਾਲ ਨਿਹਾਲ ਤਿਨੈ ਕਛੁ ਨ ਡਰ ਪੈਹੋ ॥
saal tamaal badde jah brayaal nihaal tinai kachh na ddar paiho |‘Seeing the reptiles as tall as trees, I will be dreaded.
ਰਾਜ ਤਜੋ ਸਜ ਸਾਜ ਤਪੋ ਧਨ ਲਾਜ ਧਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸੰਗ ਸਿਧੈਹੋ ॥
raaj tajo saj saaj tapo dhan laaj dhare prabh sang sidhaiho |‘Abandoning the reigning, and the wealth I will accompany you to gain contemplation.
ਬਾਤ ਇਹੈ ਦੁਖ ਗਾਤ ਸਹੋ ਬਨ ਨਾਯਕ ਕੇ ਸੰਗ ਪਾਤ ਚਬੈਹੋ ॥੬੫॥
baat ihai dukh gaat saho ban naayak ke sang paat chabaiho |65|‘I won’t hesitate to bear all the miseries, and, even, would live on the leaves.’(65)

raaj bhalee bidh raakhiyahu naath sanbhariyahu nit |‘You better look after the dominion and remember your master every
ਸੁਤ ਸੇਵਾ ਨਿਤ ਕੀਜਿਯਹੁ ਬਚਨ ਧਾਰਿਯਹੁ ਚਿਤ ॥੬੬॥
sut sevaa nit keejiyahu bachan dhaariyahu chit |66|Day, ‘Complying with my entreaty, you look after your sons.’(66)
ਸਵੈਯਾ ॥

ਰਾਜ ਤਜੋ ਸਜਿ ਸਾਜ ਤਪੋ ਧਨ ਕਾਜ ਨ ਬਾਸਵ ਕੀ ਠਕੁਰਾਈ ॥
raaj tajo saj saaj tapo dhan kaaj na baasav kee tthakuraaee |‘I am relinquishing the governance and by leaving all this I do not even fancy the god Indra’s domain.
ਅਸ੍ਵ ਪਦਾਤੁ ਬਨੈ ਬਨ ਬਾਰੁਣ ਚਾਹਤ ਹੌ ਨ ਕਛੂ ਪ੍ਰਭਤਾਈ ॥
asv padaat banai ban baarun chaahat hau na kachhoo prabhataaee |‘The horses, elephants, and foot soldiers, which are trustworthy, I do not conceive.
