ਹੋ ਨਿਰਖਿ ਤਿਹਾਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਭਾ ਦਿਵਾਨੀ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਰਹੀ ॥੩੭॥
ho nirakh tihaaree prabhaa divaanee hvai rahee |37|I have become crazy after seeing your beauty. 37.
ਹੌ ਤਵ ਪ੍ਰਭਾ ਬਿਲੋਕਿ ਰਹੀ ਉਰਝਾਇ ਕੈ ॥
hau tav prabhaa bilok rahee urajhaae kai |I am enchanted by your radiance.
ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਸਿਗਰੇ ਕੀ ਸੰਗ੍ਰਯਾ ਦਈ ਭੁਲਾਇ ਕੈ ॥
grih sigare kee sangrayaa dee bhulaae kai |(I) have forgotten the pure wisdom of the whole house.
ਅਮਰ ਅਜਰ ਫਲ ਤੁਮ ਕੌ ਦੀਨੋ ਆਨਿ ਕਰਿ ॥
amar ajar fal tum kau deeno aan kar |(Therefore it) has brought you the fruit of immortal reward.
ਹੋ ਤਾ ਤੇ ਮਦਨ ਸੰਤਾਪ ਨ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਹਮਰੋ ਪ੍ਰਹਰਿ ॥੩੮॥
ho taa te madan santaap nripat hamaro prahar |38|(Therefore) O king! Satisfy my lust. 38.
ਧੰਨ੍ਯ ਧੰਨ੍ਯ ਤਾ ਕੌ ਤਬ ਨ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਉਚਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
dhanay dhanay taa kau tab nripat uchaariyo |Then the king called him blessed
ਭਾਤਿ ਭਾਤਿ ਸੌ ਤਾ ਕੇ ਸੰਗ ਬਿਹਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
bhaat bhaat sau taa ke sang bihaariyo |And made love to him with each other.
ਲਪਟਿ ਲਪਟਿ ਬੇਸ੍ਵਾ ਹੂੰ ਗਈ ਬਨਾਇ ਕੈ ॥
lapatt lapatt besvaa hoon gee banaae kai |The prostitute also got along well with him
ਹੋ ਅਪ੍ਰਮਾਨ ਦੁਤਿ ਹੇਰਿ ਰਹੀ ਉਰਝਾਇ ਕੈ ॥੩੯॥
ho apramaan dut her rahee urajhaae kai |39|And got stuck seeing her unique beauty. 39.
ਮਨ ਭਾਵੰਤੋ ਮੀਤ ਜਵਨ ਦਿਨ ਪਾਈਯੈ ॥
man bhaavanto meet javan din paaeeyai |On the day one gets the desired friend,
ਤਵਨ ਘਰੀ ਕੇ ਪਲ ਪਲ ਬਲਿ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਈਯੈ ॥
tavan gharee ke pal pal bal bal jaaeeyai |So let's go from moment to moment of that hour.
ਲਪਟਿ ਲਪਟਿ ਕਰਿ ਤਾ ਸੌ ਅਧਿਕ ਬਿਹਾਰੀਯੈ ॥
lapatt lapatt kar taa sau adhik bihaareeyai |Let's have more fun with him.
ਹੋ ਤਤਖਿਨ ਦ੍ਰਪ ਕੰਦ੍ਰਪ ਕੋ ਸਕਲ ਨਿਵਾਰੀਯੈ ॥੪੦॥
ho tatakhin drap kandrap ko sakal nivaareeyai |40|And let us remove all the pride of that Chhin Kam Dev. 40.
ਸਵੈਯਾ ॥
savaiyaa |Self:
ਬਾਲ ਕੋ ਰੂਪ ਬਿਲੋਕਿ ਕੈ ਲਾਲ ਕਛੂ ਹਸਿ ਕੈ ਅਸ ਬੈਨ ਉਚਾਰੇ ॥
baal ko roop bilok kai laal kachhoo has kai as bain uchaare |The king saw the form of the harlot and laughed and uttered some words,
ਤੈ ਅਟਕੀ ਸੁਨਿ ਸੁੰਦਰਿ ਮੋ ਪਰ ਐਸੇ ਨ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਅੰਗ ਹਮਾਰੇ ॥
tai attakee sun sundar mo par aaise na sundar ang hamaare |beauty! Listen, you are attached to me, but I don't have such beautiful parts.
ਜੀਬੋ ਘਨੋ ਸਿਗਰੋ ਜਗ ਚਾਹਤ ਸੋ ਨ ਰੁਚਿਯੋ ਚਿਤ ਮਾਝਿ ਤਿਹਾਰੇ ॥
jeebo ghano sigaro jag chaahat so na ruchiyo chit maajh tihaare |The whole world wants to live a lot, but why is this not good for your mind?
ਆਨਿ ਜਰਾਰਿ ਦਯੋ ਹਮ ਕੌ ਫਲੁ ਦਾਸ ਭਏ ਹਮ ਆਜੁ ਤਿਹਾਰੇ ॥੪੧॥
aan jaraar dayo ham kau fal daas bhe ham aaj tihaare |41|This enemy of old age or the immortal ('jarari') fruit has brought me. That is why today I have become your slave. 41.
ਬੇਸ੍ਵਾ ਵਾਚ ॥
besvaa vaach |whore said:
ਨੈਨ ਲਗੇ ਜਬ ਤੇ ਤੁਮ ਸੌ ਤਬ ਤੇ ਤਵ ਹੇਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭਾ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਊਾਂ ॥
nain lage jab te tum sau tab te tav her prabhaa bal jaaooaan |(O Rajan!) Listen, ever since I have laid eyes on you, I am getting excited seeing your beauty.
ਭੌਨ ਭੰਡਾਰ ਸੁਹਾਤ ਨ ਮੋ ਕਹ ਸੋਵਤ ਹੂੰ ਬਿਝ ਕੈ ਬਰਰਾਊਾਂ ॥
bhauan bhanddaar suhaat na mo kah sovat hoon bijh kai bararaaooaan |Palaces and stores do not look good to me and I start to wake up when I am asleep.
ਜੈਤਿਕ ਆਪਨੀ ਆਰਬਲਾ ਸਭ ਮੀਤ ਕੇ ਊਪਰ ਵਾਰਿ ਬਹਾਊਾਂ ॥
jaitik aapanee aarabalaa sabh meet ke aoopar vaar bahaaooaan |(My) no matter how old I am, I want to beat all my friends from above.
ਕੇਤਿਕ ਬਾਤ ਜਰਾਰਿ ਸੁਨੋ ਫਲ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਦੈ ਮੋਲ ਪਿਯਾ ਕਹ ਲ੍ਯਾਊਂ ॥੪੨॥
ketik baat jaraar suno fal praan dai mol piyaa kah layaaoon |42|What is the matter of the immortal ('Jarari') fruit?
ਤੈ ਜੁ ਦਿਯੋ ਤੀਯ ਕੋ ਫਲ ਥੋ ਦਿਜ ਤੇ ਕਰਿ ਕੋਟਿਕੁਪਾਇ ਲੀਯੋ ॥
tai ju diyo teey ko fal tho dij te kar kottikupaae leeyo |The fruit which you gave to the lady (queen) was obtained by the Brahmin by great measures.
ਸੋਊ ਲੈ ਕਰ ਜਾਰ ਕੌ ਦੇਤ ਭਈ ਤਿਨ ਰੀਝਿ ਕੈ ਮੋ ਪਰ ਮੋਹਿ ਦੀਯੋ ॥
soaoo lai kar jaar kau det bhee tin reejh kai mo par mohi deeyo |She (the queen) took it and gave it to the friend and he (the friend) was happy and gave it to me.
ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਹੌ ਅਟਕੀ ਤਵ ਹੇਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭਾ ਤਨ ਕੋ ਤਨਿ ਕੈ ਨਹਿ ਤਾਪ ਕੀਯੋ ॥
nrip hau attakee tav her prabhaa tan ko tan kai neh taap keeyo |O Rajan! Seeing the beauty of your body I am stuck, (therefore by giving me the fruit) there was no pain.
ਤਿਹ ਖਾਹੁ ਹਮੈ ਸੁਖ ਦੇਹ ਦਿਯੋ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਰਾਜ ਕਰੋ ਜੁਗ ਚਾਰ ਜੀਯੋ ॥੪੩॥
tih khaahu hamai sukh deh diyo nrip raaj karo jug chaar jeeyo |43|(You) eat this fruit, give me the pleasure of the body and O king! (You) rule for four ages. 43.
ਭਰਥਰਿ ਬਾਚ ॥
bharathar baach |Bharthari said:
ਅੜਿਲ ॥

ਧ੍ਰਿਗ ਮੁਹਿ ਕੌ ਮੈ ਜੁ ਫਲੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਯਹਿ ਦੈ ਡਾਰਿਯੌ ॥
dhrig muhi kau mai ju fal triyeh dai ddaariyau |I hate that I gave that fruit to the lady (queen).
ਧ੍ਰਿਗ ਤਿਹ ਦਿਯੋ ਚੰਡਾਰ ਜੁ ਧ੍ਰਮ ਨ ਬਿਚਾਰਿਯੌ ॥
dhrig tih diyo chanddaar ju dhram na bichaariyau |Shame on her (the queen) too (who gave this fruit) to Chandal without considering religion.
ਧ੍ਰਿਗ ਤਾ ਕੋ ਤਿਨ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਰਾਨੀ ਸੀ ਪਾਇ ਕੈ ॥
dhrig taa ko tin triy raanee see paae kai |(He (Chandal) is also cursed who by getting a queen-like woman
ਹੋ ਦਯੋ ਬੇਸ੍ਵਹਿ ਪਰਮ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਉਪਜਾਇ ਕੈ ॥੪੪॥
ho dayo besveh param preet upajaae kai |44|(That fruit) was given after developing a lot of love with a prostitute. 44.
ਸਵੈਯਾ ॥
savaiyaa |Self:
ਆਧਿਕ ਆਪੁ ਭਖ੍ਰਯੋ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਲੈ ਫਲ ਆਧਿਕ ਰੂਪਮਤੀ ਕਹ ਦੀਨੋ ॥
aadhik aap bhakhrayo nrip lai fal aadhik roopamatee kah deeno |The king took the fruit and ate half himself and gave half to Roopamati (prostitute).
ਯਾਰ ਕੈ ਟੂਕ ਹਜਾਰ ਕਰੇ ਗਹਿ ਨਾਰਿ ਭਿਟ੍ਰਯਾਰ ਤਿਨੈ ਬਧਿ ਕੀਨੋ ॥
yaar kai ttook hajaar kare geh naar bhittrayaar tinai badh keeno |(He) killed the friend (Chandal) and killed the queen and the maidservant (the 'Bhityar' queen's marriage to the Chandal).
ਭੌਨ ਭੰਡਾਰ ਬਿਸਾਰ ਸਭੈ ਕਛੁ ਰਾਮ ਕੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਹ੍ਰਿਦੈ ਦ੍ਰਿੜ ਚੀਨੋ ॥
bhauan bhanddaar bisaar sabhai kachh raam ko naam hridai drirr cheeno |Forgetting the palace, treasures and everything else, he fixed the name of Ram in his heart.
ਜਾਇ ਬਸ੍ਯੋ ਤਬ ਹੀ ਬਨ ਮੈ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਭੇਸ ਕੋ ਤ੍ਯਾਗ ਜੁਗੇਸ ਕੋ ਲੀਨੋ ॥੪੫॥
jaae basayo tab hee ban mai nrip bhes ko tayaag juges ko leeno |45|(Bharthari) gave up the robes of a king and became a jogi and stayed in a hut. 45.
ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥
doharaa |dual:
ਬਨ ਭੀਤਰ ਭੇਟਾ ਭਈ ਗੋਰਖ ਸੰਗ ਸੁ ਧਾਰ ॥
ban bheetar bhettaa bhee gorakh sang su dhaar |She met Gorakhnath in (the king's) bun
ਰਾਜ ਤ੍ਯਾਗ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਲਯੋ ਭਰਥਿਰ ਰਾਜ ਕੁਮਾਰ ॥੪੬॥
raaj tayaag amrit layo bharathir raaj kumaar |46|And after giving up the kingdom, Bharthari Raj Kumar obtained Amrit. 46.
ਸਵੈਯਾ ॥
savaiyaa |Self:
ਰੋਵਤ ਹੈ ਸੁ ਕਹੂੰ ਪੁਰ ਕੇ ਜਨ ਬੌਰੇ ਸੇ ਡੋਲਤ ਜ੍ਯੋ ਮਤਵਾਰੇ ॥
rovat hai su kahoon pur ke jan bauare se ddolat jayo matavaare |Somewhere the people of the city cry and wander around like deaf people.
ਫਾਰਤ ਚੀਰ ਸੁ ਬੀਰ ਗਿਰੇ ਕਹੂੰ ਜੂਝੈ ਹੈ ਖੇਤ ਮਨੋ ਜੁਝਿਯਾਰੇ ॥
faarat cheer su beer gire kahoon joojhai hai khet mano jujhiyaare |Somewhere the warriors have torn their armor and fallen like this, as if the warriors were fighting on the battlefield.
ਰੋਵਤ ਨਾਰ ਅਪਾਰ ਕਹੂੰ ਬਿਸੰਭਾਰਿ ਭਈ ਕਰਿ ਨੈਨਨ ਤਾਰੇ ॥
rovat naar apaar kahoon bisanbhaar bhee kar nainan taare |Somewhere innumerable women are crying and lying unconscious without blinking an eye.
ਤ੍ਯਾਗ ਕੈ ਰਾਜ ਸਮਾਜ ਸਭੈ ਮਹਾਰਾਜ ਸਖੀ ਬਨ ਆਜੁ ਪਧਾਰੇ ॥੪੭॥
tayaag kai raaj samaaj sabhai mahaaraaj sakhee ban aaj padhaare |47|(and say around) O Sakhi! After leaving all the kingdoms, Maharaj has gone to Aj Ban. 47.
ਨਿਜੁ ਨਾਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਰਿ ਕੈ ਭਰਥ ਕੁਮਾਰਿ ਬਿਸਾਰਿ ਸੰਭਾਰਿ ਛਕੀ ਮਨ ਮੈ ॥
nij naar nihaar kai bharath kumaar bisaar sanbhaar chhakee man mai |Seeing Bharthari Kumar, his wives lost their senses and their minds were filled (with sorrow).
ਕਹੂੰ ਹਾਰ ਗਿਰੈ ਕਹੂੰ ਬਾਰ ਲਸੈ ਕਛੁ ਨੈਕੁ ਪ੍ਰਭਾ ਨ ਰਹੀ ਤਨ ਮੈ ॥
kahoon haar girai kahoon baar lasai kachh naik prabhaa na rahee tan mai |Somewhere (their) necklaces have fallen, somewhere the hair is (scattered) flying and (someone's) body has not the slightest beauty.
