ਸੋ ਉਪਮਾ ਕਬਿ ਨੇ ਬਰਨੀ ਮਨ ਕੀ ਹਰਨੀ ਤਿਹ ਨਾਉ ਧਰਿਓ ਹੈ ॥
so upamaa kab ne baranee man kee haranee tih naau dhario hai |The poet hath described this scence in a very attractive manner.,
ਗੇਰੂ ਨਗੰ ਪਰ ਕੈ ਬਰਖਾ ਧਰਨੀ ਪਰਿ ਮਾਨਹੁ ਰੰਗ ਢਰਿਓ ਹੈ ॥੧੫੬॥
geroo nagan par kai barakhaa dharanee par maanahu rang dtario hai |156|According to him, the colour of the ochre-mountain is melting and falling on earth in the rainy season.156.,
ਸ੍ਰੋਣਤ ਬਿੰਦੁ ਸੋ ਚੰਡਿ ਪ੍ਰਚੰਡ ਸੁ ਜੁਧ ਕਰਿਓ ਰਨ ਮਧ ਰੁਹੇਲੀ ॥
sronat bind so chandd prachandd su judh kario ran madh ruhelee |Filled with rage, Chandika waged a fierce war with Raktavija in the battlefield.,
ਪੈ ਦਲ ਮੈ ਦਲ ਮੀਜ ਦਇਓ ਤਿਲ ਤੇ ਜਿਮੁ ਤੇਲ ਨਿਕਾਰਤ ਤੇਲੀ ॥
pai dal mai dal meej deio til te jim tel nikaarat telee |She pressed the army of the demons in an instant, just as the oilman presses the oil from the sesame seed.,
ਸ੍ਰੋਉਣ ਪਰਿਓ ਧਰਨੀ ਪਰ ਚ੍ਵੈ ਰੰਗਰੇਜ ਕੀ ਰੇਨੀ ਜਿਉ ਫੂਟ ਕੈ ਫੈਲੀ ॥
sroaun pario dharanee par chvai rangarej kee renee jiau foott kai failee |The blood is dripping on the earth just as the dyer’s colour-vessel cracks and the colour spreads.,
ਘਾਉ ਲਸੈ ਤਨ ਦੈਤ ਕੇ ਯੌ ਜਨੁ ਦੀਪਕ ਮਧਿ ਫਨੂਸ ਕੀ ਥੈਲੀ ॥੧੫੭॥
ghaau lasai tan dait ke yau jan deepak madh fanoos kee thailee |157|The wounds of the demons glitter like the lamps in the containers.157.,
ਸ੍ਰਉਣਤ ਬਿੰਦ ਕੋ ਸ੍ਰਉਣ ਪਰਿਓ ਧਰਿ ਸ੍ਰਉਨਤ ਬਿੰਦ ਅਨੇਕ ਭਏ ਹੈ ॥
sraunat bind ko sraun pario dhar sraunat bind anek bhe hai |Wherever the blood of Raktavija fell, many Raktavijas rose up there.,
ਚੰਡਿ ਪ੍ਰਚੰਡ ਕੁਵੰਡਿ ਸੰਭਾਰਿ ਕੇ ਬਾਨਨ ਸਾਥਿ ਸੰਘਾਰ ਦਏ ਹੈ ॥
chandd prachandd kuvandd sanbhaar ke baanan saath sanghaar de hai |Chandi caught hold of her ferocious bow and killed all of them with her arrows.,
ਸ੍ਰਉਨ ਸਮੂਹ ਸਮਾਇ ਗਏ ਬਹੁਰੋ ਸੁ ਭਏ ਹਤਿ ਫੇਰਿ ਲਏ ਹੈ ॥
sraun samooh samaae ge bahuro su bhe hat fer le hai |Through all the new born Raktavijas were killed, still more Raktavijas rose up, Chandi killed all of them.
ਬਾਰਿਦ ਧਾਰ ਪਰੈ ਧਰਨੀ ਮਾਨੋ ਬਿੰਬਰ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਮਿਟ ਕੈ ਜੁ ਗਏ ਹੈ ॥੧੫੮॥
baarid dhaar parai dharanee maano binbar hvai mitt kai ju ge hai |158|They all die and are reborn like bubbles produced by rain and then immediately becoming extinct.158.,
ਜੇਤਕ ਸ੍ਰਉਨ ਕੀ ਬੂੰਦ ਗਿਰੈ ਰਨਿ ਤੇਤਕ ਸ੍ਰਉਨਤ ਬਿੰਦ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਆਈ ॥
jetak sraun kee boond girai ran tetak sraunat bind hvai aaee |As many drops of blood of Raktavija fall on the ground, so many Raktavijas come into being.,
ਮਾਰ ਹੀ ਮਾਰ ਪੁਕਾਰਿ ਹਕਾਰ ਕੈ ਚੰਡਿ ਪ੍ਰਚੰਡਿ ਕੇ ਸਾਮੁਹਿ ਧਾਈ ॥
maar hee maar pukaar hakaar kai chandd prachandd ke saamuhi dhaaee |Shouting loudly “kill her, kill her”, those demons run before Chandi.,
ਪੇਖਿ ਕੈ ਕੌਤੁਕ ਤਾ ਛਿਨ ਮੈ ਕਵਿ ਨੇ ਮਨ ਮੈ ਉਪਮਾ ਠਹਰਾਈ ॥
pekh kai kauatuk taa chhin mai kav ne man mai upamaa tthaharaaee |Seeing this scene at that very moment, the poet imagined this comparison,
ਮਾਨਹੁ ਸੀਸ ਮਹਲ ਕੇ ਬੀਚ ਸੁ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਏਕ ਅਨੇਕ ਕੀ ਝਾਈ ॥੧੫੯॥
maanahu sees mahal ke beech su moorat ek anek kee jhaaee |159|That in the glass-palace only one figure multiplies itself and appears like this.159.,
ਸ੍ਰਉਨਤ ਬਿੰਦ ਅਨੇਕ ਉਠੇ ਰਨਿ ਕ੍ਰੁਧ ਕੈ ਜੁਧ ਕੋ ਫੇਰ ਜੁਟੈ ਹੈ ॥
sraunat bind anek utthe ran krudh kai judh ko fer juttai hai |Many Raktavijas rise and in fury, wage the war.,
ਚੰਡਿ ਪ੍ਰਚੰਡਿ ਕਮਾਨ ਤੇ ਬਾਨ ਸੁ ਭਾਨੁ ਕੀ ਅੰਸ ਸਮਾਨ ਛੁਟੈ ਹੈ ॥
chandd prachandd kamaan te baan su bhaan kee ans samaan chhuttai hai |The arrows are shot from the ferocious bow of Chandi like the rays of the sun.,
ਮਾਰਿ ਬਿਦਾਰ ਦਏ ਸੁ ਭਏ ਫਿਰਿ ਲੈ ਮੁੰਗਰਾ ਜਿਮੁ ਧਾਨ ਕੁਟੈ ਹੈ ॥
maar bidaar de su bhe fir lai mungaraa jim dhaan kuttai hai |Chandi killed and destroyed them, but they rose up again, the goddess continued killing them like the paddy thrashed by the wooden pestle.
ਚੰਡ ਦਏ ਸਿਰ ਖੰਡ ਜੁਦੇ ਕਰਿ ਬਿਲਨ ਤੇ ਜਨ ਬਿਲ ਤੁਟੈ ਹੈ ॥੧੬੦॥
chandd de sir khandd jude kar bilan te jan bil tuttai hai |160|Chandi hath separated their heads with her double-edged sword just as the fruit of marmelos breaks away from the tree.160.,
ਸ੍ਰਉਨਤ ਬਿੰਦ ਅਨੇਕ ਭਏ ਅਸਿ ਲੈ ਕਰਿ ਚੰਡਿ ਸੁ ਐਸੇ ਉਠੇ ਹੈ ॥
sraunat bind anek bhe as lai kar chandd su aaise utthe hai |Many Raktavijas rising up, with swords in their hands, moved towards Chandi like this. Such demons rising from the drops of blood in great numbers, shower the arrows like rain.,
ਬੂੰਦਨ ਤੇ ਉਠਿ ਕੈ ਬਹੁ ਦਾਨਵ ਬਾਨਨ ਬਾਰਿਦ ਜਾਨੁ ਵੁਠੇ ਹੈ ॥
boondan te utth kai bahu daanav baanan baarid jaan vutthe hai |Such demons rising from the drops of blood in great numbers, shower the arrows like rain.,
ਫੇਰਿ ਕੁਵੰਡਿ ਪ੍ਰਚੰਡਿ ਸੰਭਾਰ ਕੈ ਬਾਨ ਪ੍ਰਹਾਰ ਸੰਘਾਰ ਸੁਟੇ ਹੈ ॥
fer kuvandd prachandd sanbhaar kai baan prahaar sanghaar sutte hai |Chandi again took her ferocious bow in her hand shooting volley of arrows killed all of them.,
ਐਸੇ ਉਠੇ ਫਿਰਿ ਸ੍ਰਉਨ ਤੇ ਦੈਤ ਸੁ ਮਾਨਹੁ ਸੀਤ ਤੇ ਰੋਮ ਉਠੇ ਹੈ ॥੧੬੧॥
aaise utthe fir sraun te dait su maanahu seet te rom utthe hai |161|The demons rise from the blood like the hair rising in cold season.161.,
ਸ੍ਰਉਨਤ ਬਿੰਦ ਭਏ ਇਕਠੇ ਬਰ ਚੰਡਿ ਪ੍ਰਚੰਡ ਕੇ ਘੇਰਿ ਲਇਓ ਹੈ ॥
sraunat bind bhe ikatthe bar chandd prachandd ke gher leio hai |Many Raktavijas have gathered together and with force and swiftness, they have besieged Chandi.,
ਚੰਡਿ ਅਉ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੁਹੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੈ ਸਬ ਦੈਤਨ ਕੋ ਦਲ ਮਾਰ ਦਇਓ ਹੈ ॥
chandd aau singh duhoon mil kai sab daitan ko dal maar deio hai |Both the goddess and the lion together have killed all these forces of demons.,
ਫੇਰਿ ਉਠੇ ਧੁਨਿ ਕੇ ਕਰਿ ਕੈ ਸੁਨਿ ਕੈ ਮੁਨਿ ਕੋ ਛੁਟਿ ਧਿਆਨੁ ਗਇਓ ਹੈ ॥
fer utthe dhun ke kar kai sun kai mun ko chhutt dhiaan geio hai |The demons rose up again and produced such a loud voice which broke the contemplation of the sages.,
ਭੂਲ ਗਏ ਸੁਰ ਕੇ ਅਸਵਾਨ ਗੁਮਾਨ ਨ ਸ੍ਰਉਨਤ ਬਿੰਦ ਗਇਓ ਹੈ ॥੧੬੨॥
bhool ge sur ke asavaan gumaan na sraunat bind geio hai |162|All the efforts of goddess were lost, but the pride of Raktavija was not decreased.162.,

ਰਕਤਬੀਜ ਸੋ ਚੰਡਿਕਾ ਇਉ ਕੀਨੋ ਬਰ ਜੁਧੁ ॥

ਅਗਨਤ ਭਏ ਦਾਨਵ ਤਬੈ ਕਛੁ ਨ ਬਸਾਇਓ ਕ੍ਰੁਧ ॥੧੬੩॥
aganat bhe daanav tabai kachh na basaaeio krudh |163|The demons became innumerable and the ire of the goddess was fruitless. 163.,

ਪੇਖਿ ਦਸੋ ਦਿਸ ਤੇ ਬਹੁ ਦਾਨਵ ਚੰਡਿ ਪ੍ਰਚੰਡ ਤਚੀ ਅਖੀਆ ॥
pekh daso dis te bahu daanav chandd prachandd tachee akheea |The eyes of powerful Chandi became red with rage on seeing many demons on all the ten directions.,
ਤਬ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਨ ਜੁ ਕਾਟ ਦਏ ਅਰਿ ਫੂਲ ਗੁਲਾਬ ਕੀ ਜਿਉ ਪਖੀਆ ॥
tab lai ke kripaan ju kaatt de ar fool gulaab kee jiau pakheea |She chopped with her sword all the enemies like the petals of roses.,
ਸ੍ਰਉਨ ਕੀ ਛੀਟ ਪਰੀ ਤਨ ਚੰਡਿ ਕੇ ਸੋ ਉਪਮਾ ਕਵਿ ਨੇ ਲਖੀਆ ॥
sraun kee chheett paree tan chandd ke so upamaa kav ne lakheea |One drop of blood fell on the body of the goddess, the poet hath imagined its comparison in this way,
ਜਨੁ ਕੰਚਨ ਮੰਦਿਰ ਮੈ ਜਰੀਆ ਜਰਿ ਲਾਲ ਮਨੀ ਜੁ ਬਨਾ ਰਖੀਆ ॥੧੬੪॥
jan kanchan mandir mai jareea jar laal manee ju banaa rakheea |164|In the temple of gold, the jeweler has got studded the red jewel in decoration.164.,
ਕ੍ਰੁਧ ਕੈ ਜੁਧ ਕਰਿਓ ਬਹੁ ਚੰਡਿ ਨੇ ਏਤੋ ਕਰਿਓ ਮਧੁ ਸੋ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ॥
krudh kai judh kario bahu chandd ne eto kario madh so abinaasee |With anger, Chandi fought a longg war, the like of which had earlier been foutht by Vishnu with the demons Madhu.,
ਦੈਤਨ ਕੇ ਬਧ ਕਾਰਨ ਕੋ ਨਿਜ ਭਾਲ ਤੇ ਜੁਆਲ ਕੀ ਲਾਟ ਨਿਕਾਸੀ ॥
daitan ke badh kaaran ko nij bhaal te juaal kee laatt nikaasee |In order to destroy the demons, the goddess hath drawn forth the flame of fire from her forehead.,
ਕਾਲੀ ਪ੍ਰਤਛ ਭਈ ਤਿਹ ਤੇ ਰਨਿ ਫੈਲ ਰਹੀ ਭਯ ਭੀਰੁ ਪ੍ਰਭਾ ਸੀ ॥
kaalee pratachh bhee tih te ran fail rahee bhay bheer prabhaa see |From that flame, kali manifested herself and her glory spread like fear amongst cowards.,
ਮਾਨਹੁ ਸ੍ਰਿੰਗ ਸੁਮੇਰ ਕੋ ਫੋਰਿ ਕੈ ਧਾਰ ਪਰੀ ਧਰਿ ਪੈ ਜਮੁਨਾ ਸੀ ॥੧੬੫॥
maanahu sring sumer ko for kai dhaar paree dhar pai jamunaa see |165|It seemed that breaking the peak of Sumeru, the of Yamuna hath fallen down .165.,
ਮੇਰੁ ਹਲਿਓ ਦਹਲਿਓ ਸੁਰਲੋਕੁ ਦਸੋ ਦਿਸ ਭੂਧਰ ਭਾਜਤ ਭਾਰੀ ॥
mer halio dahalio suralok daso dis bhoodhar bhaajat bhaaree |The Sumeru shook and the heaven was terrified and the big mountains began to move speedily in all the ten directions.,
ਚਾਲਿ ਪਰਿਓ ਤਿਹ ਚਉਦਹਿ ਲੋਕ ਮੈ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਭਇਓ ਮਨ ਮੈ ਭ੍ਰਮ ਭਾਰੀ ॥
chaal pario tih chaudeh lok mai braham bheio man mai bhram bhaaree |In all the fourteen worlds there was great commotion and a great illusion was created in the mind of Brahma.,
ਧਿਆਨ ਰਹਿਓ ਨ ਜਟੀ ਸੁ ਫਟੀ ਧਰਿ ਯੌ ਬਲਿ ਕੈ ਰਨ ਮੈ ਕਿਲਕਾਰੀ ॥
dhiaan rahio na jattee su fattee dhar yau bal kai ran mai kilakaaree |The meditative state of Shiva was broken and the earth burst when with great force Kali shouted loudly.,
ਦੈਤਨ ਕੇ ਬਧਿ ਕਾਰਨ ਕੋ ਕਰਿ ਕਾਲ ਸੀ ਕਾਲੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਨ ਸੰਭਾਰੀ ॥੧੬੬॥
daitan ke badh kaaran ko kar kaal see kaalee kripaan sanbhaaree |166|In order to kill the demons, Kali hath taken the deathlike sword in her hand.166.,

ਚੰਡੀ ਕਾਲੀ ਦੁਹੂੰ ਮਿਲਿ ਕੀਨੋ ਇਹੈ ਬਿਚਾਰ ॥
chanddee kaalee duhoon mil keeno ihai bichaar |Chandi and Kali both together took this decision,
ਹਉ ਹਨਿ ਹੋ ਤੂ ਸ੍ਰਉਨ ਪੀ ਅਰਿ ਦਲਿ ਡਾਰਹਿ ਮਾਰਿ ॥੧੬੭॥
hau han ho too sraun pee ar dal ddaareh maar |167|“I shall kill the demons and thou drinkest their blood, in this way we shall kill all the enemies.”167.

ਕਾਲੀ ਅਉ ਕੇਹਰਿ ਸੰਗਿ ਲੈ ਚੰਡਿ ਸੁ ਘੇਰੇ ਸਬੈ ਬਨ ਜੈਸੇ ਦਵਾ ਪੈ ॥
kaalee aau kehar sang lai chandd su ghere sabai ban jaise davaa pai |Taking Kali and the lion with her, Chandi besieged all the Raktavijas like the forest by the fire.,
ਚੰਡਿ ਕੇ ਬਾਨਨ ਤੇਜ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਤੇ ਦੈਤ ਜਰੈ ਜੈਸੇ ਈਟ ਅਵਾ ਪੈ ॥
chandd ke baanan tej prabhaav te dait jarai jaise eett avaa pai |With the power of the arrows of Chandi, the demons were burnt like bricks in the kiln.,
