Devaki had a first son, he was named 'Kirtimat'.
The first son named Kiratmat was born to Devaki and Vasudev took him to the house of Kansa.45.

When the father ('Tat') went with the son and the king came to the gate of Kansa,
When the father reached the gate of the palace, he asked the gatekeeper to inform Kansa about it
(Kans) saw the child and felt pity and said, We have spared you (this child).
Seeing the baby and taking pity Kansa said, “I have forgiven you.” Vasudev started back to his house, but there was no cheerfulness in his mind.46.

Vasudev thought in his mind that Kansa was a man of vicious intellect, with fear, he will definitely kill the infant.47.
Speech of the sage Narada address to Kansa:

(On returning to Basudeva's house) then (Narad) came to the house of sage Kansa (and said this), O King! listen
Then the sage Narada came to Kansa and drawing eight lines before him, he told him some mysterious things.48.
Speech of Kansa address to his servants:

When Kansa heard Narada's words, the king's heart was moved.
When the king listened to the speech of Narada, it went deeper into his mind he told his servants with signs to kill the infant immediately
Obeying his permission, the servants ran (to Basudeva) and this became known (to all the people).
Receiving his order all (the servants) ran away and they dashed the baby against a store like a hammer, separated the soul from the body.49.
Killing of the first son

(When) another son was born in their house, Kansa, who had great faith, sent (his) servants (to their house).
Another son who was born to Devaki and Vasudev, who was also killed on the orders of Kans of vicious intellenct, by his servants by dashing him on the store the dead body was given back to the parents
(On the death of the second son) there was an uproar in all of Mathura Puri. The simile of which the poet has to go like this
Hearing about this heinous crime, there was great uproar in the whole city and this tumult appeared to the poet like the cries of gods on the death of Indra.50.
Another son born in their house, they named him 'Jai'.
Another son was born in their house who was named Jaya, but he was also dashed against the stone by the king Kansa
Devaki plucks the hair of the head, the house echoes (so) with her cries and screams ('Choran').
Devaki began to pull out the hair of her head and began to cry like the bird called Karauncha in the sky in the spring season.51.

The fourth son was born and he was also killed by Kansa the flames of sorrow blazed in the hearts of Devaki and Vasudev
All the beauty of Devaki was finished by the noose of great attachment around her neck and she was drowned in great anguish
She says, “O my God! what type of Lord Thou art and what type of protected people we are? We have neither received any honour nor have got any physical protection
Because of the death of our son, we are also being ridiculed, O Immortal Lord! such a cruel joke by you is sharply stinging us like an arrow.”52.

When the fifth son was born, Kansa also stoned him to death.
Hearing about the birth of fifth son, Kansa also killed him by dashing him against the store the soul of the infant went to heaven and his body was merged in the flowing current
Hearing (this) news ('so') Devaki again sighed with grief.
Hearing this, Devaki began to sigh and because of the attachment she experienced such a great anguish that she appeared to have given birth to the attachment itself.53.

The sixth son born in (Basudeva's) clan was also killed by Kansa; So Devaki called out, O God! Listen (to me now).
When the sixth son was also killed by Kansa, Devaki prayed thus to God, “O Master of the lowly! either kill us or kill Kansa
Because Kansa is a great sinner, who seems to be greedy. (Now) make us such that (we) can live happily.
