ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਭਨੇ ਅਮਿਟੇਸ ਕੇ ਸਾਮੁਹੇ ਆਹਵ ਮੈ ਕੋਊ ਨ ਠਹਿਰਾਨੇ ॥
sayaam bhane amittes ke saamuhe aahav mai koaoo na tthahiraane |No one could confront Amit Singh
ਜੇ ਬਰ ਬੀਰ ਕਹਾਵਤ ਹੈ ਬਹੁ ਬਾਰ ਭਿਰੇ ਰਨਿ ਬਾਧਿਤ ਬਾਨੇ ॥
je bar beer kahaavat hai bahu baar bhire ran baadhit baane |Those who are called strong and who have armed themselves and fought many times in the battlefield.
ਸੋ ਇਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਚਲੇ ਭਜਿ ਕੈ ਜਿਮ ਪਉਨ ਬਹੇ ਦ੍ਰੁਮ ਪਾਤ ਉਡਾਨੇ ॥੧੨੩੫॥
so ih bhaat chale bhaj kai jim paun bahe drum paat uddaane |1235|Those who called themselves great warriors, and were roaming wielding many kings of weapons, they ran away from the battlefield like the leaves of a tree flying away before the blow of wind.1235.
ਕੇਤੇ ਰਹੇ ਰਨ ਮੈ ਰੁਪ ਕੈ ਕਿਤਨੇ ਭਜਿ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਕੇ ਤੀਰ ਪੁਕਾਰੇ ॥
kete rahe ran mai rup kai kitane bhaj sayaam ke teer pukaare |Some of the warriors stood firmly in war and some of them, inflicted by the arrows of Krishna speed away from the field crying
ਬੀਰ ਘਨੇ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਤ ਗਨੇ ਅਮਿਟੇਸਿ ਬਲੀ ਰਿਸ ਸਾਥਿ ਸੰਘਾਰੇ ॥
beer ghane nahee jaat gane amittes balee ris saath sanghaare |Amit Singh killed many, they can’t be enumerated
ਬਾਜ ਮਰੇ ਗਜ ਰਾਜ ਪਰੇ ਸੁ ਕਹੂੰ ਰਥ ਕਾਟਿ ਕੈ ਭੂ ਪਰਿ ਡਾਰੇ ॥
baaj mare gaj raaj pare su kahoon rath kaatt kai bhoo par ddaare |Somewhere the horses, somewhere the elephants and somewhere the shattered chariots were lying on the ground
ਆਵਤ ਕਾ ਤੁਮਰੇ ਮਨ ਮੈ ਕਰਤਾ ਹਰਤਾ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲਨਹਾਰੇ ॥੧੨੩੬॥
aavat kaa tumare man mai karataa harataa pratipaalanahaare |1236|O Lord! you are the creator, sustainer and the destroyer, What is in your mind, no one can understand.1236.
ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥
doharaa |DOHRA
ਰਨ ਆਤੁਰ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਸੁਭਟ ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਸੋ ਬਿਨਤੀ ਕੀਨ ॥
ran aatur hvai subhatt jo har so binatee keen |The warriors who came from the battlefield in distress pleaded with Lord Krishna.
ਤਬ ਤਿਨ ਕੋ ਬ੍ਰਿਜਰਾਜ ਜੂ ਇਹ ਬਿਧਿ ਉਤਰ ਦੀਨ ॥੧੨੩੭॥
tab tin ko brijaraaj joo ih bidh utar deen |1237|When the warriors requested Krishna in the battlefield, greatly agitated, Krishna replied to them thus,1237
ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਜੂ ਬਾਚ ॥

ਸਵੈਯਾ ॥

ਨਿਧਿ ਬਾਰਿ ਬਿਖੈ ਅਤਿ ਹੀ ਹਠ ਕੈ ਬਹੁ ਮਾਸ ਰਹਿਯੋ ਤਪੁ ਜਾਪੁ ਕੀਓ ॥
nidh baar bikhai at hee hatth kai bahu maas rahiyo tap jaap keeo |Amit singh has persistently performed austerities and repeated the name of Lord for many months in the ocean
ਬਹੁਰੋ ਤਜਿ ਕੈ ਪਿਤ ਮਾਤ ਸੁ ਭ੍ਰਾਤ ਅਵਾਸ ਤਜਿਯੋ ਬਨਬਾਸ ਲੀਓ ॥
bahuro taj kai pit maat su bhraat avaas tajiyo banabaas leeo |Then he forsook his parents, home etc. and resided in the forest
ਸਿਵ ਰੀਝਿ ਤਪੋਧਨ ਮੈ ਇਹ ਕੋ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਮਾਗ ਮਹਾ ਬਰੁ ਤੋਹਿ ਦੀਓ ॥
siv reejh tapodhan mai ih ko kahiyo maag mahaa bar tohi deeo |Being pleased with that penance, Shiva said to it, (boon) mang, (I) want to give you a very great boon.
ਮੁਹਿ ਸਾਮੁਹੇ ਕੋਊ ਨ ਸਤ੍ਰ ਰਹੈ ਬਰੁ ਦੇਹੁ ਇਹੈ ਮੁਖਿ ਮਾਗ ਲੀਓ ॥੧੨੩੮॥
muhi saamuhe koaoo na satr rahai bar dehu ihai mukh maag leeo |1238|The god Shiva god pleased and asked him to implore for a boon and the boon that he begged for was that no enemy could confront him.1238.
ਸੇਸ ਸੁਰੇਸ ਗਣੇਸ ਨਿਸੇਸ ਦਿਨੇਸ ਹੂੰ ਤੇ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਇ ਸੰਘਾਰਿਓ ॥
ses sures ganes nises dines hoon te nahee jaae sanghaario |Even Indra, Sheshanaga, Ganesh, Chandra and Surya cannot kill him
ਸੋ ਬਰ ਪਾਇ ਮਹਾ ਸਿਵ ਤੇ ਅਰਿ ਬ੍ਰਿੰਦ ਨਰਿੰਦ ਇਹੀ ਰਨਿ ਮਾਰਿਓ ॥
so bar paae mahaa siv te ar brind narind ihee ran maario |After receiving the boon from Shiva, he has killed many kings
ਸੂਰਨ ਸੋ ਬਲਬੀਰ ਤਬੈ ਅਪੁਨੈ ਮੁਖਿ ਤੇ ਇਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਉਚਾਰਿਓ ॥
sooran so balabeer tabai apunai mukh te ih bhaat uchaario |At that time Sri Krishna told (his) warriors from his mouth saying thus.
ਹਉ ਤਿਹ ਸੰਗਰ ਕੇ ਸਮੁਹੇ ਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਕੀ ਬਿਧਿ ਪੂਛਿ ਇਹੀ ਜੀਯ ਧਾਰਿਓ ॥੧੨੩੯॥
hau tih sangar ke samuhe mrit kee bidh poochh ihee jeey dhaario |1239|I think that I should confront him and ask him about the manner of his death.1239.
ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥
doharaa |DOHRA
ਜਬ ਹਰਿ ਜੂ ਐਸੇ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਤਬ ਮੁਸਲੀ ਸੁਨਿ ਪਾਇ ॥
jab har joo aaise kahiyo tab musalee sun paae |When Sri Krishna said this, Balarama heard.
ਇਹ ਕੋ ਅਬ ਹੀ ਹਉ ਹਨੋ ਬੋਲਿਯੋ ਬਚਨੁ ਰਿਸਾਇ ॥੧੨੪੦॥
eih ko ab hee hau hano boliyo bachan risaae |1240|When Balram heard these words of Krishna, he spoke in anger that he would kill Amit Singh immediately.1240.
ਸਵੈਯਾ ॥
savaiyaa |SWAYYA
ਕੋਪ ਹਲੀ ਜਦੁਬੀਰ ਹੀ ਸੋ ਇਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਕਹੋਂ ਜਾਇ ਸੰਘਾਰੋ ॥
kop halee jadubeer hee so ih bhaat kahiyo kahon jaae sanghaaro |Balarama got angry and told Sri Krishna like this, (If) say (then) go and kill him.
ਜਉ ਸਿਵ ਆਇ ਸਹਾਇ ਕਰੈ ਸਿਵ ਕੋ ਰਨ ਮੈ ਤਿਹ ਸੰਗ ਪ੍ਰਹਾਰੋ ॥
jau siv aae sahaae karai siv ko ran mai tih sang prahaaro |In great rage, the mighty Balram said to Krishna that he would kill Amit Singh, and even if Shiva comes to his help, he would also strike his blows on his alongwith Amit Singh:
ਸਾਚ ਕਹੋ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਜੂ ਤੁਮ ਸੋ ਹਨਿ ਹੋ ਅਮਿਟੇਸ ਨਹੀ ਬਲ ਹਾਰੋ ॥
saach kaho prabh joo tum so han ho amittes nahee bal haaro |O Krishna! I am telling you the truth that I shall kill Amit Singh and not be Vanquished
ਪਉਨ ਸਰੂਪ ਸਹਾਇ ਕਰੋ ਤੁਮ ਪਾਵਕ ਹੁਇ ਰਿਪੁ ਕਾਨਨ ਜਾਰੋ ॥੧੨੪੧॥
paun saroop sahaae karo tum paavak hue rip kaanan jaaro |1241|You come to my help and with the fire of your strength, burn away this forest of the enemies.1241.
ਕ੍ਰਿਸਨ ਬਾਚ ਮੁਸਲੀ ਸੋ ॥
krisan baach musalee so |Speech of Krishna addressed to Balram:
ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥

ਤੁਮ ਸੋ ਤਿਨਿ ਜਬ ਜੁਧ ਕੀਆ ਕਿਉ ਨ ਲਰੇ ਪਗ ਰੋਪਿ ॥
tum so tin jab judh keea kiau na lare pag rop |When he (Amit Singh) fought with you, why did you not fight with your feet?
ਅਬ ਹਮ ਆਗੇ ਗਰਬ ਕੋ ਬਚਨ ਉਚਾਰਤ ਕੋਪਿ ॥੧੨੪੨॥
ab ham aage garab ko bachan uchaarat kop |1242|“When he has fighting against you, why did you not fight with him firmly and now you are talking to me with pride.1242.
ਸਵੈਯਾ ॥

ਜਾਦਵ ਭਾਜਿ ਗਏ ਸਿਗਰੇ ਤੁਮ ਬੋਲਤ ਹੋ ਅਹੰਕਾਰਨਿ ਜਿਉ ॥
jaadav bhaaj ge sigare tum bolat ho ahankaaran jiau |“All the Yadavas have run away and you are still talking like an egoist
ਅਬ ਆਜ ਹਨੋ ਅਰਿ ਕੋ ਰਨ ਮੈ ਕਸ ਭਾਖਤ ਹੋ ਮਤਵਾਰਿਨ ਜਿਉ ॥
ab aaj hano ar ko ran mai kas bhaakhat ho matavaarin jiau |What are you talking like the intoxicated persons?
ਤਿਹ ਕੋ ਬਡਵਾਨਲ ਕੇ ਪਰਸੇ ਜਰ ਜੈਹੋ ਤਬੈ ਤ੍ਰਿਨ ਭਾਰਨ ਜਿਉ ॥
tih ko baddavaanal ke parase jar jaiho tabai trin bhaaran jiau |Touching that forest fire will instantly burn you like an apple.
ਜਦੁਬੀਰ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਵਹੁ ਕੇਹਰਿ ਹੈ ਤਿਹ ਤੇ ਭਜਿ ਹੋ ਬਲਿ ਬਾਰੁਨ ਜਿਉ ॥੧੨੪੩॥
jadubeer kahiyo vahu kehar hai tih te bhaj ho bal baarun jiau |1243|“That you would kill Amit Singh today, you will burn like a straw before his fire,” Krishna said, “He is a lion and you will run before him like the children.”1243.
ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥

ਬ੍ਰਿਜਭੂਖਨ ਬਲਭਦ੍ਰ ਸੋ ਇਹ ਬਿਧਿ ਕਹੀ ਸੁਨਾਇ ॥
brijabhookhan balabhadr so ih bidh kahee sunaae |(At which time) Krishna addressed Balarama in this manner.
ਹਰੈ ਬੋਲਿ ਬਲਿ ਯੌ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਕਰੋ ਜੁ ਪ੍ਰਭਹਿ ਸੁਹਾਇ ॥੧੨੪੪॥
harai bol bal yau kahiyo karo ju prabheh suhaae |1244|When Krishna said these words to Balram, he replied, “You may do whatever you wish.”1244.
ਸਵੈਯਾ ॥

ਯੌ ਬਲਿ ਸਿਉ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਰੋਸ ਬਢਾਇ ਚਲਿਯੋ ਹਰਿ ਜੂ ਹਥਿਯਾਰ ਸੰਭਾਰੇ ॥
yau bal siau kahiyo ros badtaae chaliyo har joo hathiyaar sanbhaare |Thus speaking to Balarama, Krishna (Himself) went away armed and furious.
ਕਾਇਰ ਜਾਤ ਕਹਾ ਥਿਰੁ ਹੋਹੁ ਸੁ ਕੇਹਰਿ ਜ੍ਯੋ ਹਰਿ ਜੂ ਭਭਕਾਰੇ ॥
kaaeir jaat kahaa thir hohu su kehar jayo har joo bhabhakaare |Saying thus to Balram and taking hold of his weapons in great rage, Krishna moved forward and said, “O coward! where are you going, stay a little.
ਬਾਨ ਅਨੇਕ ਹਨੇ ਉਨ ਹੂੰ ਹਰਿ ਕੋਪ ਹੁਇ ਬਾਨ ਸੋ ਬਾਨ ਨਿਵਾਰੇ ॥
baan anek hane un hoon har kop hue baan so baan nivaare |Amit Singh showered many arrows, which were intercepted by the arrows of Krishna
ਅਪੁਨੇ ਪਾਨਿ ਲਯੋ ਧਨੁ ਤਾਨਿ ਘਨੇ ਸਰ ਲੈ ਅਰਿ ਊਪਰਿ ਡਾਰੇ ॥੧੨੪੫॥
apune paan layo dhan taan ghane sar lai ar aoopar ddaare |1245|Krishna took his bow in his hand and pulling his bow discharged may arrows on the enemy.1245.
ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥

ਬਾਨ ਅਨੇਕ ਚਲਾਇ ਕੈ ਪੁਨਿ ਬੋਲੇ ਹਰਿ ਦੇਵ ॥
baan anek chalaae kai pun bole har dev |After shooting many arrows then Sri Krishna spoke,
ਅਮਿਟ ਸਿੰਘ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਇਗੋ ਝੂਠੋ ਤੁਯ ਅਹੰਮੇਵ ॥੧੨੪੬॥
amitt singh mitt jaaeigo jhoottho tuy ahamev |1246|After discharging many arrows, Krishna spoke again, “O Amit Singh! your false ego with be effacted.”1246.
