ਕਹੈ ਤੁਮੈ ਸੋ ਕੀਜਿਯਹੁ ਜੁ ਕਛੁ ਤੁਹਾਰੇ ਸਾਥ ॥੯॥
kahai tumai so keejiyahu ju kachh tuhaare saath |9|‘To learn the same you will have to proceed the way I ask.(9)

ਚਲਿਯੋ ਧਾਰਿ ਆਤੀਤ ਕੋ ਭੇਸ ਰਾਈ ॥
chaliyo dhaar aateet ko bhes raaee |He disguised himself as a king
ਮਨਾਪਨ ਬਿਖੈ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਭਗੌਤੀ ਮਨਾਈ ॥
manaapan bikhai sree bhagauatee manaaee |The Raja put on the garb of an ascetic, meditating on Bhagwati, the goddess, commenced his journey.
ਚਲਿਯੋ ਸੋਤ ਤਾ ਕੇ ਫਿਰਿਯੋ ਨਾਹਿ ਫੇਰੇ ॥
chaliyo sot taa ke firiyo naeh fere |(He) went to her while sleeping and did not return;
ਧਸ੍ਰਯੋ ਜਾਇ ਕੈ ਵਾ ਤ੍ਰਿਯਾ ਕੇ ਸੁ ਡੇਰੇ ॥੧੦॥
dhasrayo jaae kai vaa triyaa ke su ddere |10|Walking and walking along, without looking back, reached the residence of that damsel.(10)

ਲਖਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਤਾਹਿ ਸੁ ਭੇਖ ਬਨਾਯੋ ॥
lakh triy taeh su bhekh banaayo |Seeing him, the woman changed (her) form.
ਫੂਲ ਪਾਨ ਅਰੁ ਕੈਫ ਮੰਗਾਯੋ ॥
fool paan ar kaif mangaayo |On seeing him the dame adorned herself and ordered for flowers, beetle leaf and wine.
ਆਗੇ ਟਰਿ ਤਾ ਕੋ ਤਿਨ ਲੀਨਾ ॥
aage ttar taa ko tin leenaa |He took the king first
ਚਿਤ ਕਾ ਸੋਕ ਦੂਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਦੀਨਾ ॥੧੧॥
chit kaa sok door kar deenaa |11|She came forward herself to receive him and pacified her anxiety.(11)
ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥

ਬਸਤ੍ਰ ਪਹਿਰਿ ਬਹੁ ਮੋਲ ਕੇ ਅਤਿਥ ਭੇਸ ਕੋ ਡਾਰਿ ॥
basatr pahir bahu mol ke atith bhes ko ddaar |The woman weared the new clothes and put the expensive garments.
ਤਵਨ ਸੇਜ ਸੋਭਿਤ ਕਰੀ ਉਤਮ ਭੇਖ ਸੁਧਾਰਿ ॥੧੨॥
tavan sej sobhit karee utam bhekh sudhaar |12|And in new form she adorned the decorated bed.(12)
ਤਬ ਤਾ ਸੋ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਯੌ ਕਹੀ ਭੋਗ ਕਰਹੁ ਮੁਹਿ ਸਾਥ ॥
tab taa so triy yau kahee bhog karahu muhi saath |Then the lady asked him, ‘Please have intercourse with me,
ਪਸੁ ਪਤਾਰਿ ਦੁਖ ਦੈ ਘਨੋ ਮੈ ਬੇਚੀ ਤਵ ਹਾਥ ॥੧੩॥
pas pataar dukh dai ghano mai bechee tav haath |13|‘Because, tormented by Cupid, I am handing over myself to you.’(I3)
ਰਾਇ ਚਿਤ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਕਰੀ ਬੈਠੇ ਤਾਹੀ ਠੌਰ ॥
raae chit chintaa karee baitthe taahee tthauar |The monarch said ‘I had come to learn incantation,
ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਲੈਨ ਆਯੋ ਹੁਤੋ ਭਈ ਔਰ ਕੀ ਔਰ ॥੧੪॥
mantr lain aayo huto bhee aauar kee aauar |14|But the situation is quite contrary (I4)
ਅੜਿਲ ॥

ਭਏ ਪੂਜ ਤੋ ਕਹਾ ਗੁਮਾਨ ਨ ਕੀਜਿਯੈ ॥
bhe pooj to kahaa gumaan na keejiyai |The one, who is considered as worship-worthy, should not become egotistical.
ਧਨੀ ਭਏ ਤੋ ਦੁਖ੍ਯਨ ਨਿਧਨ ਨ ਦੀਜਿਯੈ ॥
dhanee bhe to dukhayan nidhan na deejiyai |If one becomes a rich man he should not beset the poor.
ਰੂਪ ਭਯੋ ਤੋ ਕਹਾ ਐਂਠ ਨਹਿ ਠਾਨਿਯੈ ॥
roop bhayo to kahaa aaintth neh tthaaniyai |‘With prettiness one should not display arrogance,
ਹੋ ਧਨ ਜੋਬਨ ਦਿਨ ਚਾਰਿ ਪਾਹੁਨੋ ਜਾਨਿਯੈ ॥੧੫॥
ho dhan joban din chaar paahuno jaaniyai |15|‘Because the youth and beauty are sustainable for four (a few) days only.(15)
ਛੰਦ ॥

ਧਰਮ ਕਰੇ ਸੁਭ ਜਨਮ ਧਰਮ ਤੇ ਰੂਪਹਿ ਪੈਯੈ ॥
dharam kare subh janam dharam te roopeh paiyai |(Said the king) By performing dharma (karma) auspicious birth (obtains) and from dharma alone one attains form.
ਧਰਮ ਕਰੇ ਧਨ ਧਾਮ ਧਰਮ ਤੇ ਰਾਜ ਸੁਹੈਯੈ ॥
dharam kare dhan dhaam dharam te raaj suhaiyai |‘Righteousness endows auspicious birth and righteousness confers beauty.
ਕਹਿਯੋ ਤੁਹਾਰੋ ਮਾਨਿ ਧਰਮ ਕੈਸੇ ਕੈ ਛੋਰੋ ॥
kahiyo tuhaaro maan dharam kaise kai chhoro |‘The righteousness augments the wealth and holiness and the righteousness idealises the sovereignty.
ਮਹਾ ਨਰਕ ਕੇ ਬੀਚ ਦੇਹ ਅਪਨੀ ਕ੍ਯੋ ਬੋਰੋ ॥੧੬॥
mahaa narak ke beech deh apanee kayo boro |16|‘Why should I abandon righteousness on your instance and make myself worthy of hell? (l6)
ਕਹਿਯੋ ਤੁਮਾਰੋ ਮਾਨਿ ਭੋਗ ਤੋਸੋ ਨਹਿ ਕਰਿਹੋ ॥
kahiyo tumaaro maan bhog toso neh kariho |‘Acquiescing to your request, I am not going to copulate with you,
ਕੁਲਿ ਕਲੰਕ ਕੇ ਹੇਤ ਅਧਿਕ ਮਨ ਭੀਤਰ ਡਰਿਹੋ ॥
kul kalank ke het adhik man bheetar ddariho |‘Because, in my heart, I am apprehensive of denigrating my family.
ਛੋਰਿ ਬ੍ਰਯਾਹਿਤਾ ਨਾਰਿ ਕੇਲ ਤੋ ਸੋ ਨ ਕਮਾਊ ॥
chhor brayaahitaa naar kel to so na kamaaoo |‘Deserting behind my married woman (wife), I will never have sex with you.
ਧਰਮਰਾਜ ਕੀ ਸਭਾ ਠੌਰ ਕੈਸੇ ਕਰਿ ਪਾਊ ॥੧੭॥
dharamaraaj kee sabhaa tthauar kaise kar paaoo |17|‘I will never be able to find a place in the court of Lord of Righteousness.’(l7)
ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥

ਕਾਮਾਤੁਰ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਜੋ ਤ੍ਰਿਯਾ ਆਵਤ ਨਰ ਕੇ ਪਾਸ ॥
kaamaatur hvai jo triyaa aavat nar ke paas |(She said,) ‘When a sexually distressed woman comes to a male,
ਮਹਾ ਨਰਕ ਸੋ ਡਾਰਿਯੈ ਦੈ ਜੋ ਜਾਨ ਨਿਰਾਸ ॥੧੮॥
mahaa narak so ddaariyai dai jo jaan niraas |18|‘And that male who turns her back disappointed, is worthy of hell.’(l8)
ਪਾਇ ਪਰਤ ਮੋਰੋ ਸਦਾ ਪੂਜ ਕਹਤ ਹੈ ਮੋਹਿ ॥
paae parat moro sadaa pooj kahat hai mohi |(He replied,) ‘People bow on my feet and worship me.
ਤਾ ਸੋ ਰੀਝ ਰਮ੍ਯੋ ਚਹਤ ਲਾਜ ਨ ਆਵਤ ਤੋਹਿ ॥੧੯॥
taa so reejh ramayo chahat laaj na aavat tohi |19|‘And you want me to have sex with you. Aren’t you ashamed of yourself?’( 19)
ਭੁਜੰਗ ਛੰਦ ॥

ਕ੍ਰਿਸਨ ਪੂਜ ਜਗ ਕੇ ਭਏ ਕੀਨੀ ਰਾਸਿ ਬਨਾਇ ॥
krisan pooj jag ke bhe keenee raas banaae |(She said,) ‘Krishna was worshipped too, and he had indulged in love plays.
ਭੋਗ ਰਾਧਿਕਾ ਸੋ ਕਰੇ ਪਰੇ ਨਰਕ ਨਹਿ ਜਾਇ ॥੨੦॥
bhog raadhikaa so kare pare narak neh jaae |20|‘He made love with Radhika, but they never went to hell.(20)
ਪੰਚ ਤਤ ਲੈ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਕਰ ਕੀਨੀ ਨਰ ਕੀ ਦੇਹ ॥
panch tat lai braham kar keenee nar kee deh |‘With five elements Brahama, the God, created human-beings,
ਕੀਯਾ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਤਿਨ ਬਿਖੈ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਪੁਰਖ ਸਨੇਹ ॥੨੧॥
keeyaa aap hee tin bikhai isatree purakh saneh |21|And He, Himself initiated love in men and women.(2l)
ਚੌਪਈ ॥

ਤਾ ਤੇ ਆਨ ਰਮੋ ਮੋਹਿ ਸੰਗਾ ॥
taa te aan ramo mohi sangaa |So communicate with me,
ਬ੍ਯਾਪਤ ਮੁਰ ਤਨ ਅਧਿਕ ਅਨੰਗਾ ॥
bayaapat mur tan adhik anangaa |‘Therefore, without hesitation have sex with me,
ਆਜ ਮਿਲੇ ਤੁਮਰੇ ਬਿਨੁ ਮਰਿਹੋ ॥
aaj mile tumare bin mariho |Because the excitement for the sex overpowers all the parts of my body.
ਬਿਰਹਾਨਲ ਕੇ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਜਰਿਹੋ ॥੨੨॥
birahaanal ke bheetar jariho |22|Without an encounter with you, I will burn in the fire of separation.(22)
ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥

ਅੰਗ ਤੇ ਭਯੋ ਅਨੰਗ ਤੌ ਦੇਤ ਮੋਹਿ ਦੁਖ ਆਇ ॥
ang te bhayo anang tau det mohi dukh aae |‘My each limb, seeking copulation, is afflicting me.
ਮਹਾ ਰੁਦ੍ਰ ਜੂ ਕੋ ਪਕਰਿ ਤਾਹਿ ਨ ਦਯੋ ਜਰਾਇ ॥੨੩॥
mahaa rudr joo ko pakar taeh na dayo jaraae |23|‘Why didn’t Ruder, the Great (Shiva) decimated it (sexual desire).’(23)
ਛੰਦ ॥

ਧਰਹੁ ਧੀਰਜ ਮਨ ਬਾਲ ਮਦਨ ਤੁਮਰੋ ਕਸ ਕਰਿ ਹੈ ॥
dharahu dheeraj man baal madan tumaro kas kar hai |(The king said) Hey Bala! Have patience in your mind, what will Kaam Dev do to you?
ਮਹਾ ਰੁਦ੍ਰ ਕੋ ਧ੍ਯਾਨ ਧਰੋ ਮਨ ਬੀਚ ਸੁ ਡਰਿ ਹੈ ॥
mahaa rudr ko dhayaan dharo man beech su ddar hai |(He) ‘Calm down, Oh Lady, the Cupid will not harm you.
ਹਮ ਨ ਤੁਮਾਰੇ ਸੰਗ ਭੋਗ ਰੁਚਿ ਮਾਨਿ ਕਰੈਗੇ ॥
ham na tumaare sang bhog ruch maan karaige |‘You put your thought to Ruder, the Great, (Cupid) will be scared away.
ਤ੍ਯਾਗਿ ਧਰਮ ਕੀ ਨਾਰਿ ਤੋਹਿ ਕਬਹੂੰ ਨ ਬਰੈਗੇ ॥੨੪॥
tayaag dharam kee naar tohi kabahoon na baraige |24|‘Not to abandon my wife, I will never have sex with you.(24)
ਅੜਿਲ ॥

ਕਹਿਯੋ ਤਿਹਾਰੋ ਮਾਨਿ ਭੋਗ ਤੋਸੋ ਕ੍ਯੋਨ ਕਰਿਯੈ ॥
kahiyo tihaaro maan bhog toso kayon kariyai |‘Just because you say, why should I have sex with you?
ਘੋਰ ਨਰਕ ਕੇ ਬੀਚ ਜਾਇ ਪਰਬੇ ਤੇ ਡਰਿਯੈ ॥
ghor narak ke beech jaae parabe te ddariyai |‘I am afraid of being put in the hell.
ਤਬ ਆਲਿੰਗਨ ਕਰੇ ਧਰਮ ਅਰਿ ਕੈ ਮੁਹਿ ਗਹਿ ਹੈ ॥
tab aalingan kare dharam ar kai muhi geh hai |‘To copulate with you is like disowning the righteousness,
ਹੋ ਅਤਿ ਅਪਜਸ ਕੀ ਕਥਾ ਜਗਤ ਮੋ ਕੌ ਨਿਤਿ ਕਹਿ ਹੈ ॥੨੫॥
ho at apajas kee kathaa jagat mo kau nit keh hai |25|And my story will go around the whole world.(25)
ਚਲੈ ਨਿੰਦ ਕੀ ਕਥਾ ਬਕਤ੍ਰ ਕਸ ਤਿਸੈ ਦਿਖੈਹੋ ॥
chalai nind kee kathaa bakatr kas tisai dikhaiho |How will (I) show (my) face (to the world) with the story of slander.
ਧਰਮ ਰਾਜ ਕੀ ਸਭਾ ਜ੍ਵਾਬ ਕੈਸੇ ਕਰਿ ਦੈਹੌ ॥
dharam raaj kee sabhaa jvaab kaise kar daihau |‘How would I show my face to the Lord of Righteousness?
ਛਾਡਿ ਯਰਾਨਾ ਬਾਲ ਖ੍ਯਾਲ ਹਮਰੇ ਨਹਿ ਪਰਿਯੈ ॥
chhaadd yaraanaa baal khayaal hamare neh pariyai |‘Lady, you better forsake the thought of my friendship,
ਕਹੀ ਸੁ ਹਮ ਸੋ ਕਹੀ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਯਹ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਨ ਕਰਿਯੈ ॥੨੬॥
kahee su ham so kahee bahur yah kahiyo na kariyai |26|‘You have said enough and, now, forget to talk more.’(26)
ਨੂਪ ਕੁਅਰਿ ਯੌ ਕਹੀ ਭੋਗ ਮੋ ਸੌ ਪਿਯ ਕਰਿਯੈ ॥
noop kuar yau kahee bhog mo sau piy kariyai |Noop Kuri (Kaur) thus said that O dear! (If you will) indulge me
ਪਰੇ ਨ ਨਰਕ ਕੇ ਬੀਚ ਅਧਿਕ ਚਿਤ ਮਾਹਿ ਨ ਡਰਿਯੈ ॥
pare na narak ke beech adhik chit maeh na ddariyai |Anoop Kumari said, ‘If you, my love, have sex with me,
ਨਿੰਦ ਤਿਹਾਰੀ ਲੋਗ ਕਹਾ ਕਰਿ ਕੈ ਮੁਖ ਕਰਿ ਹੈ ॥
nind tihaaree log kahaa kar kai mukh kar hai |‘You will not be thrown in the hell. Don’t be scared.
ਤ੍ਰਾਸ ਤਿਹਾਰੇ ਸੌ ਸੁ ਅਧਿਕ ਚਿਤ ਭੀਤਰ ਡਰਿ ਹੈ ॥੨੭॥
traas tihaare sau su adhik chit bheetar ddar hai |27|‘How could people tattle about you when they are so afraid of you.(27)
ਤੌ ਕਰਿ ਹੈ ਕੋਊ ਨਿੰਦ ਕਛੂ ਜਬ ਭੇਦ ਲਹੈਂਗੇ ॥
tau kar hai koaoo nind kachhoo jab bhed lahainge |Also they would talk only if they learn about the secret.
ਜੌ ਲਖਿ ਹੈ ਕੋਊ ਬਾਤ ਤ੍ਰਾਸ ਤੋ ਮੋਨਿ ਰਹੈਂਗੇ ॥
jau lakh hai koaoo baat traas to mon rahainge |‘Even if one learns, fearful of you, will keep quiet.
ਆਜੁ ਹਮਾਰੇ ਸਾਥ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਰੁਚਿ ਸੌ ਰਤਿ ਕਰਿਯੈ ॥
aaj hamaare saath mitr ruch sau rat kariyai |‘You must make up your mind to sleep with me today,
ਹੋ ਨਾਤਰ ਛਾਡੌ ਟਾਗ ਤਰੇ ਅਬਿ ਹੋਇ ਨਿਕਰਿਯੈ ॥੨੮॥
ho naatar chhaaddau ttaag tare ab hoe nikariyai |28|‘Or, alternatively, you crawl through my legs.’(28)
