ਸਭ ਬ੍ਰਿਤਾਤ ਲੈ ਤਵਨ ਕੋ ਸਭ ਕਹਿਯਹੁ ਮੁਹਿ ਆਇ ॥੨੪॥
sabh britaat lai tavan ko sabh kahiyahu muhi aae |24|And asked her to convey him all the Rani’s secrets.(24)

ਮੋਰ ਨ ਕਛੂ ਭੇਦ ਤਿਹਿ ਦਿਜਿਯਹੁ ॥
mor na kachhoo bhed tihi dijiyahu |
ਤਾ ਕੇ ਚੋਰਿ ਚਿਤ ਕਹ ਲਿਜਿਯਹੁ ॥
taa ke chor chit kah lijiyahu |‘Don’t give out any of my enigmas but come to me to relate her mysteries.
ਵਾ ਹੀ ਕੀ ਹੋਈ ਤੁਮ ਰਹਿਯਹੁ ॥
vaa hee kee hoee tum rahiyahu |
ਲੈ ਤਾ ਕੋ ਅੰਤਰ ਮੁਹਿ ਕਹਿਯਹੁ ॥੨੫॥
lai taa ko antar muhi kahiyahu |25|‘You remain as her companion and squeeze her secrets for me.’(25)

ਤਾ ਕੇ ਮਿਤ ਕੋ ਨਾਮ ਲੈ ਪਤਿਯਾ ਲਿਖੀ ਬਨਾਇ ॥
taa ke mit ko naam lai patiyaa likhee banaae |The Raja wrote a letter to Rani on her friend’s behalf,
ਹਮ ਬਿਖਰਚ ਰਹਤੇ ਘਨੇ ਕਛੁ ਧਨੁ ਦੈਹੁ ਪਠਾਇ ॥੨੬॥
ham bikharach rahate ghane kachh dhan daihu patthaae |26|‘Money wise I am very much tight, let me have some cash.(26)
ਦੇਸ ਛਾਡਿ ਪਰਦੇਸ ਮੈ ਬਸਾ ਬਹੁਤ ਦਿਨ ਆਇ ॥
des chhaadd parades mai basaa bahut din aae |‘After leaving my country I have come to a foreign land.
ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਜਾਨਿ ਕਛੁ ਕੀਜਿਯਹੁ ਮੁਸਕਲ ਸਮੈ ਸਹਾਇ ॥੨੭॥
prem jaan kachh keejiyahu musakal samai sahaae |27|‘For sake of our love, please do something and help at the time of need.(27)
ਤ੍ਰਿਯਾ ਤਿਹਾਰੇ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਰਹੇ ਇਮਿ ਸਮਝੋ ਮਨ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
triyaa tihaare hvai rahe im samajho man maeh |‘My dear lady, please be considerate, I am forever yours,
ਹਮ ਸੇ ਤੁਮ ਕਹ ਬਹੁਤ ਹੈ ਤੁਮ ਸੇ ਹਮ ਕਹ ਨਾਹਿ ॥੨੮॥
ham se tum kah bahut hai tum se ham kah naeh |28|‘You have others too, but there is none like you with me.(28)

ਹਮਰੇ ਖਰਚਨ ਕਹ ਕਛੁ ਦਿਜਿਯਹੁ ॥
hamare kharachan kah kachh dijiyahu |
ਵੈ ਦਿਨ ਯਾਦਿ ਹਮਾਰੇ ਕਿਜਿਯਹੁ ॥
vai din yaad hamaare kijiyahu |‘Remembering the old days, please do help me and send me some money to spend.
ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਪੁਰਾਤਨ ਪ੍ਰਿਯਾ ਬਿਚਰਿਯਹੁ ॥
preet puraatan priyaa bichariyahu |
ਹਮ ਪਰ ਅਧਿਕ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਤੁਮ ਕਰਿਯਹੁ ॥੨੯॥
ham par adhik kripaa tum kariyahu |29|‘My love, please do consider for sake of our love and help me.(29)
ਤਵਨ ਰਾਤਿ ਕੀ ਬਾਤ ਸੰਵਰਿਯਹੁ ॥
tavan raat kee baat sanvariyahu |
ਮੋ ਪਰ ਨਾਰਿ ਅਨੁਗ੍ਰਹੁ ਕਰਿਯਹੁ ॥
mo par naar anugrahu kariyahu |‘My dear Lady, remembering that night, please take pity on me.
ਯਾ ਪਤਿਯਾ ਕਹ ਤੁਹੀ ਪਛਾਨੈ ॥
yaa patiyaa kah tuhee pachhaanai |
ਅਵਰ ਪੁਰਖ ਕੋਊ ਦੁਤਿਯ ਨ ਜਾਨੈ ॥੩੦॥
avar purakh koaoo dutiy na jaanai |30|‘Only you can discern this letter and no other person knows about this.(30)

ਜਬ ਵੈ ਦਿਨ ਹਮਰੇ ਹੁਤੇ ਏਦਿਨ ਤੁਮਰੇ ਆਇ ॥
jab vai din hamare hute edin tumare aae |‘I did have good days and, now, as you are affluent,
ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਜਾਨਿ ਕਿਛੁ ਦੀਜਿਯਹੁ ਕਰਿਯਹੁ ਮੋਹਿ ਸਹਾਇ ॥੩੧॥
kripaa jaan kichh deejiyahu kariyahu mohi sahaae |31|‘Please be kind, help me and render me some help.’(31)
ਬਾਚਤ ਪਤਿਯਾ ਮੂੜ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਫੂਲ ਗਈ ਮਨ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
baachat patiyaa moorr triy fool gee man maeh |
ਤੁਰਤੁ ਕਾਢਿ ਬਹੁ ਧਨੁ ਦਿਯਾ ਭੇਦ ਲਖਿਓ ਜੜ ਨਾਹਿ ॥੩੨॥
turat kaadt bahu dhan diyaa bhed lakhio jarr naeh |32|

ਕਾਢਿ ਦਰਬੁ ਮੂਰਖ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਦੀਨੋ ॥
kaadt darab moorakh triy deeno |
ਤਾ ਕੋ ਸੋਧ ਫੇਰਿ ਨਹਿ ਲੀਨੋ ॥
taa ko sodh fer neh leeno |Without thinking over, the foolish lady at once sent him lot of wealth.
ਲੈ ਅਪਨੋ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਕਾਜ ਚਲਾਯੋ ॥
lai apano nrip kaaj chalaayo |
ਤ੍ਰਿਯਹਿ ਜਾਨਿ ਮੁਰ ਮਿਤ ਧਨ ਪਾਯੋ ॥੩੩॥
triyeh jaan mur mit dhan paayo |33|Raja used the wealth for his purposes and the woman thought it had gone to her friend.(33)

ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਜਾਨਾ ਮੁਰ ਮੀਤ ਕਹ ਦਰਬ ਪਹੂੰਚ੍ਯੋ ਜਾਇ ॥
triy jaanaa mur meet kah darab pahoonchayo jaae |The woman thought the wealth would have reached her man.
ਮੂੜ ਨ ਜਾਨਾ ਨ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਲੀਨਾ ਰੋਜ ਚਲਾਇ ॥੩੪॥
moorr na jaanaa nripat har leenaa roj chalaae |34|But the idiot did not realise that her husband had stolen it.(34)

ਹਿਤ ਮਿਤ ਕੇ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਦਰਬੁ ਲੁਟਾਯੋ ॥
hit mit ke triy darab luttaayo |
ਨਿਜੁ ਨਾਯਕ ਸੌ ਨੇਹੁ ਗਵਾਯੌ ॥
nij naayak sau nehu gavaayau |The woman lost the wealth for sake of her love and missed her husband’s love too.
ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਲੈ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਰੋਜ ਚਲਾਵੈ ॥
har dhan lai nrip roj chalaavai |
ਵਾ ਕੋ ਮੂੰਡ ਮੂੰਡਿ ਨਿਤ ਖਾਵੈ ॥੩੫॥
vaa ko moondd moondd nit khaavai |35|Raja started to squeeze more wealth out of her and this way made fool of her.(35)

ਜੋ ਜਨੁ ਜਾ ਸੌ ਰੁਚਿ ਕਰੈ ਤਾ ਹੀ ਕੋ ਲੈ ਨਾਮੁ ॥
jo jan jaa sau ruch karai taa hee ko lai naam |The man who loves some one, and uses one’s name,
ਦਰਬੁ ਕਢਾਵੈ ਤ੍ਰਿਯਨ ਤੇ ਆਪੁ ਚਲਾਵੈ ਕਾਮੁ ॥੩੬॥
darab kadtaavai triyan te aap chalaavai kaam |36|And then that man robs one of one’s wealth to undertake his own tasks.(36)(1)

chandr dev ke bans mai chandr sain ik bhoop |In the country of Chandra Dev, Raja Chandra Sen used to live.
ਚੰਦ੍ਰ ਕਲਾ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਯਾ ਰਤਿ ਕੇ ਰਹਤ ਸਰੂਪ ॥੧॥
chandr kalaa taa kee triyaa rat ke rahat saroop |1|Chandra Kala was his wife who was as pretty as the Cupid’s consort.(1)
