jinai na bidhanaa sakat bichaaraa |26|Which even the legislator has not been able to consider. 26.

ਸੁਨਹੋ ਰਾਜ ਕੁਅਰਿ ਇਕ ਬਾਤਾ ॥

ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰ ਜੋ ਕਿਯ ਬਿਖ੍ਯਾਤਾ ॥

ਪਸਚਿਮ ਦਿਸਾ ਹੁਤੀ ਇਕ ਨਗਰੀ ॥

ਹੰਸ ਮਾਲਨੀ ਨਾਮ ਉਜਗਰੀ ॥੧॥
hans maalanee naam ujagaree |1|He was known as Hans Malini. 1.

hans sain jih raaj biraajai |A king named Hans San ruled there.
ਹੰਸ ਪ੍ਰਭਾ ਜਾ ਕੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਰਾਜੈ ॥
hans prabhaa jaa kee triy raajai |His wife's name was Hans Prabha.
ਰੂਪਵਾਨ ਗੁਨਵਾਨੁਜਿਯਾਰੀ ॥
roopavaan gunavaanujiyaaree |He was graceful, virtuous and beautiful.
ਜਾਹਿਰ ਲੋਕ ਚੌਦਹੂੰ ਪ੍ਯਾਰੀ ॥੨॥
jaahir lok chauadahoon payaaree |2|(He) was famous among the beloved fourteen people. 2.
ਤਹ ਇਕ ਸਾਹੁ ਸੁਤਾ ਦੁਤਿਮਾਨਾ ॥
tah ik saahu sutaa dutimaanaa |There was a beautiful daughter of a Shah
ਬਹੁਰਿ ਜਿਯਤ ਜਿਹ ਨਿਰਖਿ ਸਸਾਨਾ ॥
bahur jiyat jih nirakh sasaanaa |By seeing which he (the man) would live again.
ਜੋਬਨ ਭਯੋ ਅਧਿਕ ਤਿਹ ਜਬ ਹੀ ॥
joban bhayo adhik tih jab hee |When she became full of youth
ਬਹੁਤਨ ਸਾਥ ਬਿਹਾਰਤ ਤਬ ਹੀ ॥੩॥
bahutan saath bihaarat tab hee |3|Then she started talking with many people. 3.
ਇਕ ਦਿਨ ਭੇਸ ਪੁਰਖ ਕੋ ਧਾਰਿ ॥
eik din bhes purakh ko dhaar |(He) disguised himself as a man one day
ਨਿਜੁ ਪਤਿ ਸਾਥ ਕਰੀ ਬਹੁ ਰਾਰਿ ॥
nij pat saath karee bahu raar |Had a big fight with her husband.
ਲਾਤ ਮੁਸਟ ਕੇ ਕਰਤ ਪ੍ਰਹਾਰ ॥
laat musatt ke karat prahaar |She was kicking and punching
ਸੋ ਤਿਹ ਨਾਰਿ ਨ ਸਕੈ ਬਿਚਾਰਿ ॥੪॥
so tih naar na sakai bichaar |4|And he was not recognizing her as his wife. 4.
ਤਾ ਸੌ ਲਰਿ ਕਾਜੀ ਪਹਿ ਗਈ ॥
taa sau lar kaajee peh gee |She fought him and went to Qazi
ਲੈ ਇਲਾਮ ਪ੍ਰਯਾਦਨ ਸੰਗ ਅਈ ॥
lai ilaam prayaadan sang aee |And came with the pawns with permission.
ਐਚ ਪਤਿਹਿ ਲੈ ਤਹਾ ਸਿਧਾਈ ॥
aaich patihi lai tahaa sidhaaee |She dragged her husband there
ਕੋਤਵਾਰ ਕਾਜੀ ਜਿਹ ਠਾਈ ॥੫॥

ਪ੍ਰਯਾਦਨ ਸਾਥ ਦ੍ਵਾਰ ਪਤਿ ਥਿਰ ਕਰਿ ॥

ਦਿਨ ਕਹ ਗਈ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਅਪਨੇ ਘਰ ॥

ਤਾ ਸੰਗ ਕਰਿ ਕ੍ਰੀੜਾ ਕੀ ਗਾਥਾ ॥

ਲੈ ਆਈ ਸਾਹਿਦ ਕਹਿ ਸਾਥਾ ॥੬॥

ਕਾਮ ਭੋਗ ਤਿਹ ਸਾਥਿ ਕੀਯਾ ਰੁਚਿ ਮਾਨਿ ਕਰਿ ॥
kaam bhog tih saath keeyaa ruch maan kar |Worked with him with interest.
ਹੋ ਸਾਹਿਦ ਕੈ ਲ੍ਯਾਈ ਅਪਨੇ ਤਿਹ ਸਾਥ ਧਰਿ ॥੭॥
ho saahid kai layaaee apane tih saath dhar |7|She also brought him along as a witness. 7.

eih bidh gee bahutan ke ghar |Thus she went to the house of many friends.
ਸੰਗ ਸਾਹਿਦ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਕਰਿ ਲੀਨੇ ॥
sang saahid sabh hee kar leene |Made everyone a witness
ਸਕਲ ਰੁਜੂ ਕਾਜੀ ਕੇ ਕੀਨੇ ॥੮॥
sakal rujoo kaajee ke keene |8|And brought to the attention of all Qazis.8.
ਤਿਹ ਅਪਨੀ ਅਪਨੀ ਤੇ ਮਾਨੈ ॥
tih apanee apanee te maanai |Everyone considered him as their own
ਏਕ ਏਕ ਕੋ ਭੇਦ ਨ ਜਾਨੈ ॥
ek ek ko bhed na jaanai |And they did not know each other's secret.
ਜੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਕਹਤ ਸੋ ਪੁਰਖ ਬਖਾਨਤ ॥
ju triy kahat so purakh bakhaanat |What the woman said, that's what the man said
ਆਪੁ ਆਪੁ ਕੀ ਬਾਤ ਨ ਜਾਨਤ ॥੯॥
aap aap kee baat na jaanat |9|And they did not understand each other. 9.
ਸਭ ਸਾਹਿਦ ਜਬ ਨਜਰਿ ਗੁਜਰੇ ॥
sabh saahid jab najar gujare |When all the witnesses passed by
ਏਕ ਬਚਨ ਵਹ ਤ੍ਰਿਯਾ ਉਚਰੇ ॥
ek bachan vah triyaa uchare |So the woman said one thing.
ਤਬ ਕਾਜੀ ਸਾਚੀ ਇਹ ਕੀਨੋ ॥
tab kaajee saachee ih keeno |Then the Qazi accepted that as true
ਦਰਬ ਬਟਾਇ ਅਰਧ ਤਿਹ ਦੀਨੋ ॥੧੦॥
darab battaae aradh tih deeno |10|And after dividing half of the money, he gave it to him. 10.
ਕਿਨੂੰ ਨ ਤਾ ਕੋ ਭੇਦ ਬਿਚਾਰਾ ॥
kinoo na taa ko bhed bichaaraa |No one understood his secret
ਕਸ ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰ ਇਹ ਨਾਰਿ ਦਿਖਾਰਾ ॥
kas charitr ih naar dikhaaraa |What character has this woman shown?
ਔਰਨ ਕੀ ਕੋਊ ਕਹਾ ਬਖਾਨੈ ॥
