ਜਰਾਸੰਧਿ ਕੀ ਅਤਿ ਚਮੂੰ ਉਮਡੀ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਬਢਾਇ ॥
jaraasandh kee at chamoon umaddee krodh badtaae |The huge army of Jarasandha is furious.
ਧਨੁਖ ਬਾਨ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਨਿ ਲੈ ਛਿਨ ਮੈ ਦੀਨੀ ਘਾਇ ॥੧੭੪੭॥
dhanukh baan har paan lai chhin mai deenee ghaae |1747|The fourfold army of Jarasandh rushed forward, but Krishna taking his bow and arrows in his hand destroyed all in an instant.1747.

ਜਦੁਬੀਰ ਕਮਾਨ ਤੇ ਬਾਨ ਛੁਟੇ ਅਵਸਾਨ ਗਏ ਲਖਿ ਸਤ੍ਰਨ ਕੇ ॥
jadubeer kamaan te baan chhutte avasaan ge lakh satran ke |The enemies lost all courage as the arrows emanated from the bow of Krishna
ਗਜਰਾਜ ਮਰੇ ਗਿਰ ਭੂਮਿ ਪਰੇ ਮਨੋ ਰੂਖ ਕਟੇ ਕਰਵਤ੍ਰਨ ਕੇ ॥
gajaraaj mare gir bhoom pare mano rookh katte karavatran ke |The dead elephants fell on the earth like the trees falling after being sawed and cut
ਰਿਪੁ ਕਉਨ ਗਨੇ ਜੁ ਹਨੇ ਤਿਹ ਠਾ ਮੁਰਝਾਇ ਗਿਰੇ ਸਿਰ ਛਤ੍ਰਨ ਕੇ ॥
rip kaun gane ju hane tih tthaa murajhaae gire sir chhatran ke |The dying enemies were innumerable and at that place there were heaps of the lifeless heads of Kshatriyas
ਰਨ ਮਾਨੋ ਸਰੋਵਰਿ ਆਂਧੀ ਬਹੈ ਟੁਟਿ ਫੂਲ ਪਰੇ ਸਤ ਪਤ੍ਰਨ ਕੇ ॥੧੭੪੮॥
ran maano sarovar aandhee bahai ttutt fool pare sat patran ke |1748|The battlefield had become a tank in which the heads were floating like leaves and flowers.1748.
ਘਾਇ ਲਗੇ ਇਕ ਘੂਮਤ ਘਾਇਲ ਸ੍ਰਉਨ ਸੋ ਏਕ ਫਿਰੈ ਚੁਚਵਾਤੇ ॥
ghaae lage ik ghoomat ghaaeil sraun so ek firai chuchavaate |Someone is wounded and swinging and the blood is oozing out from the body of someone
ਏਕ ਨਿਹਾਰ ਕੈ ਡਾਰਿ ਹਥੀਆਰ ਭਜੈ ਬਿਸੰਭਾਰ ਗਈ ਸੁਧਿ ਸਾਤੇ ॥
ek nihaar kai ddaar hatheeaar bhajai bisanbhaar gee sudh saate |Someone is running away and frightened by the dreadfulness of war, Sheshnaga has lost his presence of mind
ਦੈ ਰਨ ਪੀਠ ਮਰੈ ਲਰ ਕੈ ਤਿਹ ਮਾਸ ਕੋ ਜੰਬੁਕ ਗੀਧ ਨ ਖਾਤੇ ॥
dai ran peetth marai lar kai tih maas ko janbuk geedh na khaate |Those who are being killed in the act of running away and retracing their steps from the war-arena, their flesh is not even being eaten by the jackals and vultures
ਬੋਲਤ ਬੀਰ ਸੁ ਏਕ ਫਿਰੈ ਮਨੋ ਡੋਲਤ ਕਾਨਨ ਮੈ ਗਜ ਮਾਤੇ ॥੧੭੪੯॥
bolat beer su ek firai mano ddolat kaanan mai gaj maate |1749|The warriors are roaring and shouting like the intoxicated elephants in the forest.1749.
ਪਾਨਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਨ ਗਹੀ ਘਨਿ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਬਡੇ ਰਿਪੁ ਤੇ ਬਿਨੁ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਕੀਏ ॥
paan kripaan gahee ghan sayaam badde rip te bin praan kee |Taking his sword in his hand, Krishna made many warriors lifeless
ਗਜ ਬਾਜਨ ਕੇ ਅਸਵਾਰ ਹਜਾਰ ਮੁਰਾਰਿ ਸੰਘਾਰਿ ਬਿਦਾਰਿ ਦੀਏ ॥
gaj baajan ke asavaar hajaar muraar sanghaar bidaar dee |He killed thousands of the riders of horses and elephants
ਅਰਿ ਏਕਨ ਕੇ ਸਿਰ ਕਾਟਿ ਦਏ ਇਕ ਬੀਰਨ ਕੇ ਦਏ ਫਾਰਿ ਹੀਏ ॥
ar ekan ke sir kaatt de ik beeran ke de faar hee |The heads of many were chopped and the chests of many were torn
ਮਨੋ ਕਾਲ ਸਰੂਪ ਕਰਾਲ ਲਖਿਓ ਹਰਿ ਸਤ੍ਰ ਭਜੇ ਇਕ ਮਾਰ ਲੀਏ ॥੧੭੫੦॥
mano kaal saroop karaal lakhio har satr bhaje ik maar lee |1750|He was moving as the manifestation of Death and killing the enemies.1750.
ਕਬਿਤੁ ॥

ਰੋਸ ਭਰੇ ਬਹੁਰੋ ਧਨੁਖ ਬਾਨ ਪਾਨਿ ਲੀਨੋ ਰਿਪਨ ਸੰਘਾਰਤ ਇਉ ਕਮਲਾ ਕੋ ਕੰਤੁ ਹੈ ॥
ros bhare bahuro dhanukh baan paan leeno ripan sanghaarat iau kamalaa ko kant hai |Filled with anger, Lord Krishna has again taken the bow and arrow in his hand and is thus killing the enemies.
ਕੇਤੇ ਗਜ ਮਾਰੇ ਰਥੀ ਬਿਰਥੀ ਕਰਿ ਡਾਰੇ ਕੇਤੇ ਐਸੇ ਭਯੋ ਜੁਧੁ ਮਾਨੋ ਕੀਨੋ ਰੁਦ੍ਰ ਅੰਤੁ ਹੈ ॥
kete gaj maare rathee birathee kar ddaare kete aaise bhayo judh maano keeno rudr ant hai |Being enraged again and taking his bow and arrows in his hands, Krishna is killing the Krishna, he killed many, deprived the chariot-riders of their chariots and such a dreadful war is being fought that doomsday seems to have arrived
ਸੈਥੀ ਚਮਕਾਵਤ ਚਲਾਵਤ ਸੁਦਰਸਨ ਕੋ ਕਹੈ ਕਬਿ ਰਾਮ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਐਸੋ ਤੇਜਵੰਤੁ ਹੈ ॥
saithee chamakaavat chalaavat sudarasan ko kahai kab raam sayaam aaiso tejavant hai |Sometimes he is displaying the sword and sometimes as a Glorious one, he sets in motion his discus
ਸ੍ਰਉਨਤ ਰੰਗੀਨ ਪਟ ਸੁਭਟ ਪ੍ਰਬੀਨ ਰਨ ਫਾਗੁ ਖੇਲ ਪੌਢ ਰਹੇ ਮਾਨੋ ਬਡੇ ਸੰਤ ਹੈ ॥੧੭੫੧॥
sraunat rangeen patt subhatt prabeen ran faag khel pauadt rahe maano badde sant hai |1751|Those wearing clothes, saturated with blood, appear like hermits playing Holi in their pleasure.1751.
ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਤੇ ਨ ਡਰੇ ਅਰਿ ਅਰਰਾਇ ਪਰੇ ਸਬ ਕਹੈ ਕਬਿ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਲਰਬੇ ਕਉ ਉਮਗਤਿ ਹੈ ॥
kaanrah te na ddare ar araraae pare sab kahai kab sayaam larabe kau umagat hai |The enemies do not fear Krishna and are rushing forward, challenging him to fight
ਰਨ ਮੈ ਅਡੋਲ ਸ੍ਵਾਮ ਕਾਰ ਜੀ ਅਮੋਲ ਬੀਰ ਗੋਲ ਤੇ ਨਿਕਸ ਲਰੈ ਕੋਪ ਮੈ ਪਗਤ ਹੈ ॥
ran mai addol svaam kaar jee amol beer gol te nikas larai kop mai pagat hai |The warriors remaining stable in war and performing duty for their master, are getting infuriated in their own groups
ਡੋਲਤ ਹੈ ਆਸ ਪਾਸ ਜੀਤਬੇ ਕੀ ਕਰੈ ਆਸ ਤ੍ਰਾਸ ਮਨਿ ਨੈਕੁ ਨਹੀ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਕੇ ਭਗਤ ਹੈ ॥
ddolat hai aas paas jeetabe kee karai aas traas man naik nahee nrip ke bhagat hai |They move here and there, hoping to win. (They) have no fear in their hearts, they are staunch devotees of the king.
ਕੰਚਨ ਅਚਲ ਜਿਉ ਅਟਲ ਰਹਿਓ ਜਦੁਬੀਰ ਤੀਰ ਤੀਰ ਸੂਰਮਾ ਨਛਤ੍ਰ ਸੇ ਡਿਗਤ ਹੈ ॥੧੭੫੨॥
kanchan achal jiau attal rahio jadubeer teer teer sooramaa nachhatr se ddigat hai |1752|They are most sincere servants of their king Jarasandh and are moving fearlessly near Krishna, Krishna is steady like Sumeru mountainand with the infliction of his arrows, the warriors are falling down like the stars of the sky.1752.
ਸਵੈਯਾ ॥

ਇਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਇਤੈ ਜਦੁਬੀਰ ਘਿਰਿਓ ਉਤ ਕੋਪ ਹਲਾਯੁਧ ਬੀਰ ਸੰਘਾਰੇ ॥
eih bhaat itai jadubeer ghirio ut kop halaayudh beer sanghaare |In this way, on this side, Krishna was surrounded and on the other side, getting angry, Balram killed many warriors
ਬਾਨ ਕਮਾਨ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਨਨ ਪਾਨਿ ਧਰੇ ਬਿਨੁ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਪਰੇ ਛਿਤਿ ਮਾਰੇ ॥
baan kamaan kripaanan paan dhare bin praan pare chhit maare |Holding his bow, arrows and sword in his hand, Balram made the warriors lifeless and laid them on the earth
ਟੂਕ ਅਨੇਕ ਕੀਏ ਹਲਿ ਸੋ ਬਲਿ ਕਾਤੁਰ ਦੇਖਿ ਭਜੇ ਬਿਸੰਭਾਰੇ ॥
ttook anek kee hal so bal kaatur dekh bhaje bisanbhaare |The warriors were chopped into many bits and the great warriors becoming helpless, fled away
ਜੀਤਤ ਭਯੋ ਮੁਸਲੀ ਰਨ ਮੈ ਅਰਿ ਭਾਜਿ ਚਲੇ ਤਬ ਭੂਪ ਨਿਹਾਰੇ ॥੧੭੫੩॥
jeetat bhayo musalee ran mai ar bhaaj chale tab bhoop nihaare |1753|Balram was getting victorious in the battlefield, the enemies were fleeing and the king saw all this spectacle.1753.
ਚਕ੍ਰਤ ਹੁਇ ਚਿਤ ਬੀਚ ਚਮੂ ਪਤਿ ਆਪੁਨੀ ਸੈਨ ਕਉ ਬੈਨ ਸੁਨਾਯੋ ॥
chakrat hue chit beech chamoo pat aapunee sain kau bain sunaayo |Being wonder-struck, the king said to his army, “O warriors! the time for war has come now
ਭਾਜਤ ਜਾਤ ਕਹਾ ਰਨ ਤੇ ਭਟ ਜੁਧੁ ਨਿਦਾਨ ਸਮੋ ਅਬ ਆਯੋ ॥
bhaajat jaat kahaa ran te bhatt judh nidaan samo ab aayo |Where you people are running away?”
ਇਉ ਲਲਕਾਰ ਕਹਿਓ ਦਲ ਕੋ ਤਬ ਸ੍ਰਉਨਨ ਮੈ ਸਬਹੂੰ ਸੁਨਿ ਪਾਯੋ ॥
eiau lalakaar kahio dal ko tab sraunan mai sabahoon sun paayo |This challenge of the king was heard by the whole army
ਸਸਤ੍ਰ ਸੰਭਾਰਿ ਫਿਰੇ ਤਬ ਹੀ ਅਤਿ ਕੋਪ ਭਰੇ ਹਠਿ ਜੁਧੁ ਮਚਾਯੋ ॥੧੭੫੪॥
sasatr sanbhaar fire tab hee at kop bhare hatth judh machaayo |1754|And all the warriors taking their weapons in their hands, in extreme rage, began to wage a dreadful war.1754.
ਬੀਰ ਬਡੇ ਰਨਧੀਰ ਸੋਊ ਜਬ ਆਵਤ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਜਦੁਬੀਰ ਨਿਹਾਰੇ ॥
beer badde ranadheer soaoo jab aavat sree jadubeer nihaare |Those who were great warriors and Randhir warriors, (they) when they saw Sri Krishna coming.
ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਭਨੈ ਕਰਿ ਕੋਪ ਤਿਹੀ ਛਿਨ ਸਾਮੁਹੇ ਹੋਇ ਹਰਿ ਸਸਤ੍ਰ ਪ੍ਰਹਾਰੇ ॥
sayaam bhanai kar kop tihee chhin saamuhe hoe har sasatr prahaare |When Krishna saw the greatly warriors coming, he confronted them, in great fury, he struck blows on them with his weapons
ਏਕਨ ਕੇ ਕਰ ਕਾਟਿ ਦਏ ਇਕ ਮੁੰਡ ਬਿਨਾ ਕਰਿ ਭੂ ਪਰਿ ਡਾਰੇ ॥
ekan ke kar kaatt de ik mundd binaa kar bhoo par ddaare |The heads of many were chopped and the trunks of many were thrown on the ground
ਜੀਤ ਕੀ ਆਸ ਤਜੀ ਅਰਿ ਏਕ ਨਿਹਾਰ ਕੈ ਡਾਰਿ ਹਥਿਯਾਰ ਪਧਾਰੇ ॥੧੭੫੫॥
jeet kee aas tajee ar ek nihaar kai ddaar hathiyaar padhaare |1755|Many of them abandoned the hope of victory and throwing their weapons ran away.1755.
ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥

ਜਬ ਹੀ ਅਤਿ ਦਲ ਭਜਿ ਗਯੋ ਤਬ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਕੀਓ ਉਪਾਇ ॥
jab hee at dal bhaj gayo tab nrip keeo upaae |When most of the party fled, then the king (Jarasandha) took action.
ਆਪਨ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੀ ਸੁਮਤਿ ਕਉ ਲੀਨੋ ਨਿਕਟਿ ਬੁਲਾਇ ॥੧੭੫੬॥
aapan mantree sumat kau leeno nikatt bulaae |1756|When the army fled away, the king thought of a plan and called his minister Sumati before him.1756.
ਦ੍ਵਾਦਸ ਛੂਹਨਿ ਸੈਨ ਅਬ ਲੈ ਧਾਵਹੁ ਤੁਮ ਸੰਗ ॥
dvaadas chhoohan sain ab lai dhaavahu tum sang |(Said to him) Now you set out (to the battlefield) with the twelve untouchables.
ਸਸਤ੍ਰ ਅਸਤ੍ਰ ਭੂਪਤਿ ਦਯੋ ਅਪੁਨੋ ਕਵਚ ਨਿਖੰਗ ॥੧੭੫੭॥
sasatr asatr bhoopat dayo apuno kavach nikhang |1757|“You go now with twelve extremely large units of army for fighting” and saying thus, the king Jarasandh gave him weapons, arms, armours, quivers etc.1757.
ਸੁਮਤਿ ਚਲਤ ਰਨ ਇਉ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਸੁਨੀਏ ਬਚਨ ਨ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ॥
sumat chalat ran iau kahiyo sunee bachan nripaal |While going to war Sumati (the minister named) said, O King! Hear (my) word.
ਹਰਿ ਹਲਧਰ ਕੇਤਕ ਬਲੀ ਕਰੋ ਕਾਲ ਕੋ ਕਾਲ ॥੧੭੫੮॥
har haladhar ketak balee karo kaal ko kaal |1758|While marching, the minister Sumati said to the king, “O king! how much great warriors are Krishna and Balram? I shall even kill kal (death).”1758.

ਇਉ ਕਹਿ ਜਰਾਸੰਧਿ ਸਿਉ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੀ ॥

ਸੰਗ ਲੀਏ ਤਿਹ ਅਧਿਕ ਬਜੰਤ੍ਰੀ ॥
sang lee tih adhik bajantree |took with him many Vajantris.
