ਨਰਾਜ ਛੰਦ ॥

NARAAJ STANZA

ਨਚਿੰਤ ਭੂਪ ਚਿੰਤ ਧਾਮ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਇ ਆਇ ਹੈਂ ॥
nachint bhoop chint dhaam raam raae aae hain |

“O king! Forsake all anxiety and go to your home, the king Ram will come to your home

ਦੁਰੰਤ ਦੁਸਟ ਜੀਤ ਕੈ ਸੁ ਜੈਤ ਪਤ੍ਰ ਪਾਇ ਹੈਂ ॥
durant dusatt jeet kai su jait patr paae hain |

On conquering the tyrants he will botain the deed of victory from all

ਅਖਰਬ ਗਰਬ ਜੇ ਭਰੇ ਸੁ ਸਰਬ ਗਰਬ ਘਾਲ ਹੈਂ ॥
akharab garab je bhare su sarab garab ghaal hain |

“He will shatter the pride of egoists

ਫਿਰਾਇ ਛਤ੍ਰ ਸੀਸ ਪੈ ਛਤੀਸ ਛੋਣ ਪਾਲ ਹੈਂ ॥੩੯॥
firaae chhatr sees pai chhatees chhon paal hain |39|

Having royal canopy over his head, he will sustain all.39.

ਅਖੰਡ ਖੰਡ ਖੰਡ ਕੈ ਅਡੰਡ ਡੰਡ ਦੰਡ ਹੈਂ ॥
akhandd khandd khandd kai addandd ddandd dandd hain |

“He will repudiate the mighty ones and punish those, whom none has been able to punish upto this day

ਅਜੀਤ ਜੀਤ ਜੀਤ ਕੈ ਬਿਸੇਖ ਰਾਜ ਮੰਡ ਹੈਂ ॥
ajeet jeet jeet kai bisekh raaj mandd hain |

He will extend his domains by conquering the unconquerable and removing all the blemishes

ਕਲੰਕ ਦੂਰ ਕੈ ਸਭੈ ਨਿਸੰਕ ਲੰਕ ਘਾਇ ਹੈਂ ॥
kalank door kai sabhai nisank lank ghaae hain |

Shall remove all taints and smite Lanka with pride,

ਸੁ ਜੀਤ ਬਾਹ ਬੀਸ ਗਰਬ ਈਸ ਕੋ ਮਿਟਾਇ ਹੈਂ ॥੪੦॥
su jeet baah bees garab ees ko mittaae hain |40|

“He will definitely conquer Lanka and conquering Ravana, he will shatter his pride.40.

ਸਿਧਾਰ ਭੂਪ ਧਾਮ ਕੋ ਇਤੋ ਨ ਸੋਕ ਕੋ ਧਰੋ ॥
sidhaar bhoop dhaam ko ito na sok ko dharo |

O Rajan! Go home, don't be sad as much as Rata

ਬੁਲਾਇ ਬਿਪ ਛੋਣ ਕੇ ਅਰੰਭ ਜਗ ਕੋ ਕਰੋ ॥
bulaae bip chhon ke aranbh jag ko karo |

“O king! Go to your home forsaking the anxiety and begin the Yajna by calling the Brahmins.”

ਸੁਣੰਤ ਬੈਣ ਰਾਵ ਰਾਜਧਾਨੀਐ ਸਿਧਾਰੀਅੰ ॥
sunant bain raav raajadhaaneeai sidhaareean |

King Dasharatha heard these words and went to the capital

ਬੁਲਾਇ ਕੈ ਬਸਿਸਟ ਰਾਜਸੂਇ ਕੋ ਸੁਧਾਰੀਅੰ ॥੪੧॥
bulaae kai basisatt raajasooe ko sudhaareean |41|

Hearing these words, the king came to his capital and calling the sage Vasishtha, he determined to perform the Rajsuya Yajna.41.

ਅਨੇਕ ਦੇਸ ਦੇਸ ਕੇ ਨਰੇਸ ਬੋਲ ਕੈ ਲਏ ॥
anek des des ke nares bol kai le |

King Dasharatha called the generals of the countries

ਦਿਜੇਸ ਬੇਸ ਬੇਸ ਕੇ ਛਿਤੇਸ ਧਾਮ ਆ ਗਏ ॥
dijes bes bes ke chhites dhaam aa ge |

He invited the kings of many countries and also the Brahmin of different garbs reached there.

ਅਨੇਕ ਭਾਤ ਮਾਨ ਕੈ ਦਿਵਾਨ ਬੋਲ ਕੈ ਲਏ ॥
anek bhaat maan kai divaan bol kai le |

Summoned the viziers (diwan) by giving them various honors.

ਸੁ ਜਗ ਰਾਜਸੂਇ ਕੋ ਅਰੰਭ ਤਾ ਦਿਨਾ ਭਏ ॥੪੨॥
su jag raajasooe ko aranbh taa dinaa bhe |42|

The king honoured all in many ways and the Rajsuya Yajna began.42.

ਸੁ ਪਾਦਿ ਅਰਘ ਆਸਨੰ ਅਨੇਕ ਧੂਪ ਦੀਪ ਕੈ ॥
su paad aragh aasanan anek dhoop deep kai |

By giving water, posture, incense, lamp to wash the feet

ਪਖਾਰਿ ਪਾਇ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਣੰ ਪ੍ਰਦਛਣਾ ਬਿਸੇਖ ਦੈ ॥
pakhaar paae brahamanan pradachhanaa bisekh dai |

Washing the feet of Brahmins and giving them their seats and buring the incenses and earthen lampas, the king circumambulated the Brahmins in a special manner.

ਕਰੋਰ ਕੋਰ ਦਛਨਾ ਦਿਜੇਕ ਏਕ ਕਉ ਦਈ ॥
karor kor dachhanaa dijek ek kau dee |

He gave crores of rupees to each (Brahmin).

ਸੁ ਜਗ ਰਾਜਸੂਇ ਕੀ ਅਰੰਭ ਤਾ ਦਿਨਾ ਭਈ ॥੪੩॥
su jag raajasooe kee aranbh taa dinaa bhee |43|

He gave millions of coins to each Brahmin as religious gift and in this way, the Rajsuya Yajna begin.43.

ਨਟੇਸ ਦੇਸ ਦੇਸ ਕੇ ਅਨੇਕ ਗੀਤ ਗਾਵਹੀ ॥
nattes des des ke anek geet gaavahee |

The Nat-Rajas (Aye Jo) of the countries used to sing many songs.

ਅਨੰਤ ਦਾਨ ਮਾਨ ਲੈ ਬਿਸੇਖ ਸੋਭ ਪਾਵਹੀ ॥
anant daan maan lai bisekh sobh paavahee |

The comedians and minstrels from various countries began to sing songs and obtaining various kinds of honours they were well-seated in a special manner.

ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨਿ ਲੋਗ ਜੇ ਭਏ ਸੁ ਜਾਤ ਕਉਨ ਤੇ ਕਹੇ ॥
prasan log je bhe su jaat kaun te kahe |

From what side can it be said that the people were pleased?

ਬਿਮਾਨ ਆਸਮਾਨ ਕੇ ਪਛਾਨ ਮੋਨ ਹੁਐ ਰਹੇ ॥੪੪॥
bimaan aasamaan ke pachhaan mon huaai rahe |44|

The pleasure of the people is indescribable and there were so many air-vehicles in the sky that they could not be recognized.44.

ਹੁਤੀ ਜਿਤੀ ਅਪਛਰਾ ਚਲੀ ਸੁਵਰਗ ਛੋਰ ਕੈ ॥
hutee jitee apachharaa chalee suvarag chhor kai |

(Indra's court) all the Apsaras left heaven and came.

ਬਿਸੇਖ ਹਾਇ ਭਾਇ ਕੈ ਨਚੰਤ ਅੰਗ ਮੋਰ ਕੈ ॥
bisekh haae bhaae kai nachant ang mor kai |

The heavenly damsels, leaving the heaven, were turning their limbs in special postures and dancing.

ਬਿਅੰਤ ਭੂਪ ਰੀਝਹੀ ਅਨੰਤ ਦਾਨ ਪਾਵਹੀਂ ॥
biant bhoop reejhahee anant daan paavaheen |

Many kings were happy (on seeing their dancing) and (they received) unlimited donations (rewards) from them.

ਬਿਲੋਕਿ ਅਛਰਾਨ ਕੋ ਅਪਛਰਾ ਲਜਾਵਹੀਂ ॥੪੫॥
bilok achharaan ko apachharaa lajaavaheen |45|

Many kings, in their pleasure were giving charities and seeing their beautiful queens, the heavenly damsel were feeling shy.45.

ਅਨੰਤ ਦਾਨ ਮਾਨ ਦੈ ਬੁਲਾਇ ਸੂਰਮਾ ਲਏ ॥
anant daan maan dai bulaae sooramaa le |

Called the heroes by giving various kinds of donations and honours

ਦੁਰੰਤ ਸੈਨ ਸੰਗ ਦੈ ਦਸੋ ਦਿਸਾ ਪਠੈ ਦਏ ॥
durant sain sang dai daso disaa patthai de |

Bestowing various types of gifts and honours, the king called many mighty heroes and sent them in all the ten directions alongwith he tough forces.

ਨਰੇਸ ਦੇਸ ਦੇਸ ਕੇ ਨ੍ਰਿਪੇਸ ਪਾਇ ਪਾਰੀਅੰ ॥
nares des des ke nripes paae paareean |

(They) conquered the kings of the countries and placed them at the feet of Maharaja Dasharatha.

ਮਹੇਸ ਜੀਤ ਕੈ ਸਭੈ ਸੁ ਛਤ੍ਰਪਤ੍ਰ ਢਾਰੀਅੰ ॥੪੬॥
mahes jeet kai sabhai su chhatrapatr dtaareean |46|

They conquered the kings of many countries and made them subservient to Dasrath and in this why, conquering the kings of the whole world, brought them before the Sovereign Dasrath.46.

ROOAAMAL STANZA

ਜੀਤ ਜੀਤ ਨ੍ਰਿਪੰ ਨਰੇਸੁਰ ਸਤ੍ਰ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਬੁਲਾਇ ॥
jeet jeet nripan naresur satr mitr bulaae |

(Dasaratha) Maharaja called all the friends and enemies after winning all the kings.

ਬਿਪ੍ਰ ਆਦਿ ਬਿਸਿਸਟ ਤੇ ਲੈ ਕੈ ਸਭੈ ਰਿਖਰਾਇ ॥
bipr aad bisisatt te lai kai sabhai rikharaae |

After conquering the kinds, the king Dasrath called together the enemies as well as friends, the sages like Vashisht and the Brahmins.

ਕ੍ਰੁਧ ਜੁਧ ਕਰੇ ਘਨੇ ਅਵਗਾਹਿ ਗਾਹਿ ਸੁਦੇਸ ॥
krudh judh kare ghane avagaeh gaeh sudes |

Enraged, the army waged many wars and captured uninhabitable countries.

ਆਨ ਆਨ ਅਵਧੇਸ ਕੇ ਪਗ ਲਾਗੀਅੰ ਅਵਨੇਸ ॥੪੭॥
aan aan avadhes ke pag laageean avanes |47|

Those who did not accept his supremacy, in great fury, he destroyed them and in this way the kings of all the earth became subservient to the king of Oudh.47.

ਭਾਤਿ ਭਾਤਿਨ ਦੈ ਲਏ ਸਨਮਾਨ ਆਨ ਨ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ॥
bhaat bhaatin dai le sanamaan aan nripaal |

He made various offerings (of material to the kings) and received honors from King Dasharatha as well.

ਅਰਬ ਖਰਬਨ ਦਰਬ ਦੈ ਗਜ ਰਾਜ ਬਾਜ ਬਿਸਾਲ ॥
arab kharaban darab dai gaj raaj baaj bisaal |

All the kings were honoured in various ways they were given the wealth, elephants and horses equivalent to millions and billions of gold coin.

ਹੀਰ ਚੀਰਨ ਕੋ ਸਕੈ ਗਨ ਜਟਤ ਜੀਨ ਜਰਾਇ ॥
heer cheeran ko sakai gan jattat jeen jaraae |

Who can count diamond-studded armor and gold-studded saddles?

ਭਾਉ ਭੂਖਨ ਕੋ ਕਹੈ ਬਿਧ ਤੇ ਨ ਜਾਤ ਬਤਾਇ ॥੪੮॥
bhaau bhookhan ko kahai bidh te na jaat bataae |48|

The garments studded with diamonds and the saddles of horses studded with gems cannot be enumerated and even Brahma cannot describe the grandeur of the ornaments.48.

ਪਸਮ ਬਸਤ੍ਰ ਪਟੰਬਰਾਦਿਕ ਦੀਏ ਭੂਪਨ ਭੂਪ ॥
pasam basatr pattanbaraadik dee bhoopan bhoop |

Wool and silk robes were given to the kings by King Dasharatha.

ਰੂਪ ਅਰੂਪ ਸਰੂਪ ਸੋਭਿਤ ਕਉਨ ਇੰਦ੍ਰ ਕਰੂਪੁ ॥
roop aroop saroop sobhit kaun indr karoop |

The woolen and silken garments were given by the king and seeing the beauty of all the people it seemed that even Indra was ugly before them.

ਦੁਸਟ ਪੁਸਟ ਤ੍ਰਸੈ ਸਭੈ ਥਰਹਰਯੋ ਸੁਨਿ ਗਿਰਰਾਇ ॥
dusatt pusatt trasai sabhai tharaharayo sun giraraae |

All the great enemies trembled, hearing (of the donation) Mount Sumer trembled and

ਕਾਟਿ ਕਾਟਿਨ ਦੈ ਮੁਝੈ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਬਾਟਿ ਬਾਟਿ ਲੁਟਾਇ ॥੪੯॥
kaatt kaattin dai mujhai nrip baatt baatt luttaae |49|

All the tyrants were frightened and even the Sumeru mountain trembled with fear that the king may not chop him and distribute his bits to the participants.49.

ਬੇਦ ਧੁਨਿ ਕਰਿ ਕੈ ਸਭੈ ਦਿਜ ਕੀਅਸ ਜਗ ਅਰੰਭ ॥
bed dhun kar kai sabhai dij keeas jag aranbh |

With the sound of the Vedas, all the Brahmins started the Yagya.

ਭਾਤਿ ਭਾਤਿ ਬੁਲਾਇ ਹੋਮਤ ਰਿਤ ਜਾਨ ਅਸੰਭ ॥
bhaat bhaat bulaae homat rit jaan asanbh |

All the Brahmins started the Yajna by reciting the Vedic performed the havan (fire-worship) in accordance with the mantras.
