ਗੁਹਿ ਕੈ ਬਨ ਫੂਲਨ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਹਾਰ ਸੋ ਕੇਲ ਕਰੈ ਤਿਨ ਡਾਰਿ ਗਰੈ ॥

ਬਿਰਹਾ ਛੁਧ ਕੋ ਤਿਹ ਠਉਰ ਬਿਖੈ ਹਸ ਕੈ ਰਸ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਪੇਟ ਭਰੈ ॥੫੦੩॥

We may absorb ourselves in amorous play, wearing beautiful garlands, we may end the anguish of separation by our sport.503.

ਆਇਸੁ ਮਾਨਿ ਤਬੈ ਹਰਿ ਕੋ ਸਭ ਧਾਇ ਚਲੀ ਗੁਪੀਆ ਤਿਹ ਠਉਰੈ ॥

ਏਕ ਚਲੈ ਮੁਸਕਾਇ ਭਲੀ ਬਿਧਿ ਏਕ ਚਲੈ ਹਰੂਏ ਇਕ ਦਉਰੈ ॥

Agreeing with Krishna, all the gopis moved towards that place, one is walking smilinglu, the other is walking slowly and someone is running’

ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਕਹੈ ਉਪਮਾ ਤਿਹ ਕੀ ਜਲ ਮੈ ਜਮੁਨਾ ਕਹੁ ਗ੍ਵਾਰਿਨ ਹਉਰੈ ॥

ਰੀਝ ਰਹੈ ਬਨ ਕੇ ਮ੍ਰਿਗ ਦੇਖਿ ਸੁ ਅਉਰ ਪਿਖੈ ਗਜ ਗਾਮਨ ਸਉਰੈ ॥੫੦੪॥

The poet Shyam says that the gopis are swimming the Yamuna’ s water and seeing those women of the gait of the elephant acting according to the wishes of their hearts, the deer of the forest are also getting pleased.504.

ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਸਮੇਤ ਸਭੈ ਗੁਪੀਆ ਜਮੁਨਾ ਜਲ ਕੋ ਤਰਿ ਪਾਰਿ ਪਰਈਯਾ ॥

ਪਾਰ ਭਈ ਜਬ ਹੀ ਹਿਤ ਸੋ ਗਿਰਦਾ ਕਰ ਕੈ ਤਿਹ ਕੋ ਤਿਸਟਈਯਾ ॥

All the gopis crossed Yamuna alongwith Krishna and went to the other side and gathering together stood in circle

ਤਾ ਛਬਿ ਕੀ ਅਤਿ ਹੀ ਉਪਮਾ ਕਬਿ ਨੈ ਮੁਖ ਤੇ ਇਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਸੁਨਈਯਾ ॥

ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਭਯੋ ਸਸਿ ਸੁਧ ਮਨੋ ਸਮ ਰਾਜਤ ਗ੍ਵਾਰਿਨ ਤੀਰ ਤਰਈਯਾ ॥੫੦੫॥

This spectacle appearead like this: that Krishna was like the moon and the gopis surrounding him looked like his family of stars.505.

ਬਾਤ ਲਗੀ ਕਹਨੇ ਮੁਖ ਤੇ ਕਵਿ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਕਹੈ ਮਿਲ ਕੈ ਸਭ ਗ੍ਵਾਰਿਨ ॥

ਚੰਦ੍ਰਮੁਖੀ ਮ੍ਰਿਗ ਸੇ ਦ੍ਰਿਗਨੀ ਲਖੀਯੈ ਤਿਨ ਭਾਨ ਅਨੰਤ ਅਪਾਰਨਿ ॥

All the gopis, who were moon-faced and doe-eyed, began to talk amongst themselves:

ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਕੇ ਸਾਥ ਕਰੀ ਚਰਚਾ ਮਿਲਿ ਕੈ ਬ੍ਰਿਜ ਕੀ ਸਭ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਬਾਰਨਿ ॥

ਛੋਰਿ ਦਈ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਕੀ ਸਭ ਲਾਜ ਜੁ ਹੋਇ ਮਹਾ ਰਸ ਕੀ ਚਸਕਾਰਨਿ ॥੫੦੬॥

The wanton damsels of Braja held discussion with Krishna about love and absorbed in this great relish, they abandoned all their shyness.506.

ਕੈ ਰਸ ਕੇ ਹਰਿ ਕਾਰਨੁ ਕੈ ਕਰਿ ਕਸਟ ਬਡੋ ਕੋਊ ਮੰਤਰ ਸਾਧੋ ॥

ਕੈ ਕੋਊ ਜੰਤ੍ਰ ਬਡੋਈ ਸਧਿਯੋ ਇਨ ਕੋ ਅਪਨੇ ਮਨ ਭੀਤਰ ਬਾਧੋ ॥

The mind of the gopis feels greatly agitated on account of the absorption in love or for Krishna or because of a mantra or a powerful Yantra,

ਕੈ ਕੇਹੂੰ ਤੰਤ੍ਰ ਕੇ ਸਾਥ ਕਿਧੋ ਕਬਿ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਕਹੈ ਅਤਿ ਹੀ ਕਰਿ ਧਾਧੋ ॥

Or it is blazing in extreme dread on account of a Tantra

ਚੋਰਿ ਲਯੋ ਮਨੁ ਗ੍ਵਾਰਿਨ ਕੋ ਛਿਨ ਭੀਤਰ ਦੀਨ ਦਯਾਨਿਧਿ ਮਾਧੋ ॥੫੦੭॥

Krishna, who is merciful to the lowly has stolen the mind of the gopis in an instant.507.

ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਕੇ ਗ੍ਵਾਰਿਨ ਸਾਥ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਹਮ ਕੋ ਤਜਿ ਕੈ ਕਿਹ ਓਰਿ ਗਏ ਥੇ ॥

ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਬਢਾਇ ਮਹਾ ਹਮ ਸੋ ਜਮੁਨਾ ਤਟਿ ਪੈ ਰਸ ਕੇਲ ਕਏ ਥੇ ॥

Gopis said to Krishna, “Where had you gone after leaving us? You had loved us and were absorbed in amorous play with us on the bank of Yamuna

ਯੌ ਤਜਿ ਗੇ ਜਿਮ ਰਾਹਿ ਮੁਸਾਫਿਰ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਤੁਮ ਨਾਹਿ ਨਏ ਥੇ ॥

“You were not unacquainted with us, but you left us like traveler abandoning his companion

ਫੂਲ ਖਿਰੇ ਮੁਖ ਆਏ ਕਹਾ ਅਪਨੀ ਬਿਰੀਆ ਕਹੂੰ ਭਉਰ ਭਏ ਥੇ ॥੫੦੮॥

Our faces had bloomed here like flowers, but you had gone away elsewhere like a black bee.”508.

ਅਥ ਚਤੁਰ ਪੁਰਖ ਭੇਦ ਕਥਨੰ ॥

Now begins the description of the differentiation of Four Types of Purushas

ਸਵੈਯਾ ॥

SWAYYA

ਨਰ ਏਕ ਅਕੀਨ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਕਰੈ ਇਕ ਕੀਨ ਕਰੈ ਇਕ ਕੀਨ ਜੁ ਜਾਨੈ ॥

There are some persons, who love without being loved

ਏਕ ਨ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਕੇ ਭੇਦ ਜਨੈ ਜੋਊ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਕਰੈ ਅਰਿ ਕੈ ਤਿਹ ਮਾਨੈ ॥

There are others, who love only when loved and consider such love as beneficence, there are such others, who know differentiations in love and accept love in their mind

ਸੋ ਨਰ ਮੂੜ ਬਿਖੈ ਕਹੀਯੈ ਜਗਿ ਜੋ ਨਰ ਰੰਚ ਨ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਪਛਾਨੈ ॥

The fourth type of persons are such in the world who can be called fools because they do not comprehend love even a little

ਸੋ ਚਰਚਾ ਰਸ ਕੀ ਇਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਸੁ ਗ੍ਵਾਰਿਨੀਆ ਸੰਗਿ ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਬਖਾਨੈ ॥੫੦੯॥

The gopis and Krishna are absorbed in such-like discussion.509.

ਗੋਪੀ ਬਾਚ ॥

Speech of the gopis:

ਸਵੈਯਾ ॥

SWAYYA

ਗ੍ਵਾਰਿਨੀਆ ਇਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਕਹੈ ਕਰਿ ਨੇਹ ਕੋ ਅੰਤਿ ਦਗਾ ਕੋਊ ਦੈ ਹੈ ॥

ਦੋ ਜਨ ਛਾਡਿ ਪਰੋ ਹਰਿ ਗਯੋ ਜਨ ਜੋ ਛਲ ਸੋ ਤਿਹ ਕੋ ਹਰਿ ਲੈ ਹੈ ॥

The gopis are saying, “Let us see, who deceives after ending the love? Krishna is such that he is always ready for the welfare of someone even leaving the enemy standing in front of him and is deceived himself on being defrauded

ਜੋ ਬਟਹਾ ਜਨ ਘਾਵਤ ਹੈ ਕੋਊ ਜਾਤ ਚਲਿਯੋ ਪਿਖ ਕੈ ਮਧਿਮੈ ਹੈ ॥

ਪੈ ਖਿਝ ਕੈ ਅਤਿ ਹੀ ਗੁਪੀਆ ਇਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਤਿਨ ਕੀ ਸਮ ਏ ਹੈ ॥੫੧੦॥

“He is such a one who accompanies someone in rainy season and assuning the form of a dacoit in ambush and kills his companion in the way,” the gopis said angrily that Krishna is such a person.510.

ਜਬ ਹੀ ਇਹ ਗ੍ਵਾਰਿਨ ਬਾਤ ਕਹੀ ਤਬ ਹੀ ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਸੰਗ ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਹਸੈ ॥

When gopis said this, Krishna laughed with them

ਜਿਹ ਨਾਮ ਕੇ ਲੇਤ ਜਰਾ ਮੁਖ ਤੇ ਤਜ ਕੈ ਗਨਕਾ ਸਭ ਪਾਪ ਨਸੇ ॥

He, on uttering whose name, the sins of a sinner like Ganika were destroyed

ਨ ਜਪਿਯੋ ਜਿਹ ਜਾਪ ਸੋਊ ਉਜਰੇ ਜਿਹ ਜਾਪ ਜਪਿਯੋ ਸੋਊ ਧਾਮ ਬਸੇ ॥

Wherever his name was not remembered, that place became deserted

ਤਿਨ ਗੋਪਿਨ ਸੋ ਇਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਹਮਹੂੰ ਅਤਿ ਹੀ ਰਸ ਬੀਚ ਫਸੇ ॥੫੧੧॥

He, who remembered his name, his home prospered that Krishna said this to gopis, “I have been entrapped dreadfully in your amorous enjoyment.”511.

ਕਹਿ ਕੈ ਇਹ ਬਾਤ ਹਸੇ ਹਰਿ ਜੂ ਉਠ ਕੈ ਜਮੁਨਾ ਜਲ ਬੀਚ ਤਰੇ ॥

Uttering these words, Krishna got up smilingly and jumped into Yamuna

ਛਿਨ ਏਕ ਲਗਿਯੋ ਨ ਤਬੈ ਤਿਹ ਕੋ ਲਖਿ ਕੈ ਜਮੁਨਾ ਕਹ ਪਾਰ ਪਰੇ ॥

He crossed Yamuna in an instant

ਲਖਿ ਕੈ ਜਲ ਕੋ ਸੰਗ ਗੋਪਿਨ ਕੇ ਭਗਵਾਨ ਮਹਾ ਉਪਹਾਸ ਕਰੇ ॥

On seeing the gopis and the water (of Yamuna), Krishna laughed heartily

ਬਹੁ ਹੋਰਨਿ ਤੈ ਅਰੁ ਬ੍ਰਯਾਹਨਿ ਤੈ ਕੁਰਮਾਤਨ ਤੈ ਅਤਿ ਸੋਊ ਖਰੇ ॥੫੧੨॥

Though gopis are greatly restrained and are reminded of the family practice, they are enamoured of Krishna.512.

ਰਜਨੀ ਪਰ ਗੀ ਤਬ ਹੀ ਭਗਵਾਨ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਹਸਿ ਕੈ ਹਮ ਰਾਸ ਕਰੈ ॥

ਸਸਿ ਰਾਜਤ ਹੈ ਸਿਤ ਗੋਪਿਨ ਕੇ ਮੁਖ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਸੇਤ ਹੀ ਹਾਰ ਡਰੈ ॥

When the night fell, Lord Krishna said smilingly, “come, let us absorb ourselves in amorous play,” there is moonlike brightness on the faces of the gopis and they have worn garlands of which flowers around their necks
