ਪਲਟਿ ਕੋਪ ਕੈ ਕੈ ਫਿਰਿ ਪਰੈ ॥
palatt kop kai kai fir parai |And they are angry and turned back.
ਜੇਤੇ ਲਖੇ ਦੈਤ ਫਿਰਿ ਆਏ ॥
jete lakhe dait fir aae |(The giant) saw the returnees,
ਘਾਇ ਘਾਇ ਜਮ ਲੋਕ ਪਠਾਏ ॥੧੦॥
ghaae ghaae jam lok patthaae |10|(They) were killed and sent to Yamlok. 10.
ਬੀਸ ਹਜਾਰ ਕਰੀ ਤਿਨ ਘਾਯੋ ॥
bees hajaar karee tin ghaayo |He killed twenty thousand elephants
ਤੀਸ ਹਜਾਰ ਸੁ ਬਾਜ ਖਪਾਯੋ ॥
tees hajaar su baaj khapaayo |and destroyed thirty thousand horses.
ਚਾਲਿਸ ਸਹਸ ਤਹਾ ਰਥ ਕਾਟੇ ॥
chaalis sahas tahaa rath kaatte |Forty thousand chariots were cut there
ਅਭ੍ਰਨ ਜ੍ਯੋ ਜੋਧਾ ਚਲਿ ਫਾਟੇ ॥੧੧॥
abhran jayo jodhaa chal faatte |11|And the armies (of the warriors) broke out like the alters. 11.
ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥
doharaa |dual:
ਬਹੁਰਿ ਗਦਾ ਗਹਿ ਹਾਥ ਮੈ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਨਾ ਪਤਨ ਅਪਾਰ ॥
bahur gadaa geh haath mai pratinaa patan apaar |(The demon) then held a mace in his hand and destroyed a large army
ਭਾਤਿ ਭਾਤਿ ਸੰਘ੍ਰਤ ਭਯੋ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਸੰਕ ਬਿਚਾਰ ॥੧੨॥
bhaat bhaat sanghrat bhayo kachhoo na sank bichaar |12|And beautified (everyone) in many ways. 12.
ਚੌਪਈ ॥
chauapee |twenty four:
ਤਾ ਸੌ ਜੁਧ ਸਭੈ ਕਰਿ ਹਾਰੇ ॥
taa sau judh sabhai kar haare |All were defeated by war with him,
ਤਿਨ ਤੇ ਗਏ ਨ ਅਸੁਰ ਸੰਘਾਰੇ ॥
tin te ge na asur sanghaare |But the giant could not be killed by anyone.
ਉਗਿਯੋ ਚੰਦ੍ਰ ਸੂਰ ਅਸਤਾਏ ॥
augiyo chandr soor asataae |The moon rose and the sun set.
ਸਭ ਹੀ ਸੁਭਟ ਗ੍ਰਿਹਨ ਹਟਿ ਆਏ ॥੧੩॥
sabh hee subhatt grihan hatt aae |13|All the warriors returned to their bases. 13.
ਭਯੋ ਪ੍ਰਾਤ ਜਬ ਤਮ ਮਿਟਿ ਗਯੋ ॥
bhayo praat jab tam mitt gayo |Fighting hard with him, all the combatants lost the will, and none could finish the devil.
ਕੋਪ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਸੂਰਨ ਕੋ ਭਯੋ ॥
kop bahur sooran ko bhayo |‘The Sun was set and the Moon had risen when the warriors commenced their journeys back home.
ਫੌਜੈ ਜੋਰਿ ਤਹਾ ਚਲਿ ਆਏ ॥
fauajai jor tahaa chal aae |When the day broke the soldiers, once again, feeling indignant,
ਜਿਹ ਠਾ ਦੈਤ ਘਨੇ ਭਟ ਘਾਏ ॥੧੪॥
jih tthaa dait ghane bhatt ghaae |14|Gathered around and raided the place where the devils had beaten them.(14)
ਡਾਰਿ ਪਾਖਰੈ ਤੁਰੇ ਨਚਾਵੈ ॥
ddaar paakharai ture nachaavai |The horses started dancing by putting saddles on them
ਕੇਤੇ ਚੰਦ੍ਰਹਾਸ ਚਮਕਾਵੈ ॥
kete chandrahaas chamakaavai |And how many swords ('Chandrahas') began to shine.
ਤਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਕੇਤਿਕ ਬਾਨਨ ਮਾਰੈ ॥
tan tan ketik baanan maarai |He began to shoot arrows by stringing many strings
ਅਮਿਤ ਘਾਵ ਦਾਨਵ ਪਰ ਡਾਰੈ ॥੧੫॥
amit ghaav daanav par ddaarai |15|And innumerable stings began to kill the demon. 15.
ਭੁਜੰਗ ਛੰਦ ॥
bhujang chhand |Bhujang Verse:
ਹਠ੍ਰਯੋ ਆਪੁ ਦਾਨਵ ਗਦਾ ਹਾਥ ਲੈ ਕੈ ॥
hatthrayo aap daanav gadaa haath lai kai |With a mace in his hand, the giant stood up.
ਲਈ ਕਾਢਿ ਕਾਤੀ ਮਹਾ ਕੋਪ ਕੈ ਕੈ ॥
lee kaadt kaatee mahaa kop kai kai |He got very angry and took out his sword.
ਜਿਤੇ ਆਨਿ ਢੂਕੇ ਤਿਤੇ ਖੇਤ ਮਾਰੇ ॥
jite aan dtooke tite khet maare |All who came to fight (with him) were killed on the battlefield.
ਗਿਰੇ ਭਾਤਿ ਐਸੀ ਨ ਜਾਵੈ ਬਿਚਾਰੇ ॥੧੬॥
gire bhaat aaisee na jaavai bichaare |16|(They) will fall in such a way that they cannot even be considered. 16.
ਕਿਤੇ ਹਾਕ ਮਾਰੈ ਕਿਤੇ ਘੂੰਮ ਘੂੰਮੈ ॥
kite haak maarai kite ghoonm ghoonmai |How many have been defiantly killed and how many have been killed by walking around.
ਕਿਤੇ ਜੁਧ ਜੋਧਾ ਪਰੇ ਆਨਿ ਭੂਮੈ ॥
kite judh jodhaa pare aan bhoomai |How many warriors have fallen in the battlefield.
ਕਿਤੇ ਪਾਨਿ ਮਾਗੈ ਕਿਤੇ ਹੂਹ ਛੋਰੈਂ ॥
kite paan maagai kite hooh chhorain |How many are asking for water, how many are crying
ਕਿਤੇ ਜੁਧ ਸੌਡੀਨ ਕੇ ਸੀਸ ਤੋਰੈ ॥੧੭॥
kite judh sauaddeen ke sees torai |17|And how many warriors have broken their lead. 17.
ਕਹੂੰ ਬਾਜ ਜੂਝੈ ਕਹੂੰ ਰਾਜ ਮਾਰੇ ॥
kahoon baaj joojhai kahoon raaj maare |Some horses, some kings have been killed.
ਕਹੂੰ ਛੇਤ੍ਰ ਛਤ੍ਰੀ ਕਰੀ ਤਾਜ ਡਾਰੇ ॥
kahoon chhetr chhatree karee taaj ddaare |Somewhere in the battlefield are elephants and crowns of warriors.
ਚਲੇ ਭਾਜਿ ਜੋਧਾ ਸਭੈ ਹਾਰਿ ਮਾਨੀ ॥
chale bhaaj jodhaa sabhai haar maanee |All the warriors are running away after giving up
ਕਛੂ ਲਾਜ ਕੀ ਬਾਤ ਕੈ ਨਾਹਿ ਜਾਨੀ ॥੧੮॥
kachhoo laaj kee baat kai naeh jaanee |18|And no one considered (it) a matter of shame. 18.
ਹਠੀ ਜੇ ਫਿਰੰਗੀ ਮਹਾ ਕੋਪ ਵਾਰੈ ॥
hatthee je firangee mahaa kop vaarai |who were very angry and obstinate foreigners (Firangi),
ਲਰੇ ਆਨਿ ਤਾ ਸੋ ਨ ਨੈਕੈ ਪਧਾਰੇ ॥
lare aan taa so na naikai padhaare |(They) came to fight him and did not even shy away.
ਛਕੈ ਛੋਭ ਛਤ੍ਰੀ ਮਹਾ ਕੋਪ ਢੂਕੇ ॥
chhakai chhobh chhatree mahaa kop dtooke |All the chhatris are very angry
ਚਹੂੰ ਓਰ ਤੇ ਮਾਰ ਹੀ ਮਾਰਿ ਕੂਕੇ ॥੧੯॥
chahoon or te maar hee maar kooke |19|And they are shouting from all four sides. 19.
ਜਿਤੇ ਆਨਿ ਜੂਝੇ ਸਭੈ ਖੇਤ ਘਾਏ ॥
jite aan joojhe sabhai khet ghaae |How many (soldiers) have come and fought and died on the battlefield.
ਬਚੇ ਜੀਤਿ ਤੇ ਛਾਡਿ ਖੇਤੈ ਪਰਾਏ ॥
bache jeet te chhaadd khetai paraae |Those who survived fled the battlefield alive.
ਹਠੇ ਜੇ ਹਠੀਲੇ ਹਠੀ ਖਗ ਕੂਟੇ ॥
hatthe je hattheele hatthee khag kootte |Stubborn warriors are being beaten by the swords of the stubborn
ਮਹਾਰਾਜ ਬਾਜੀਨ ਕੇ ਮੂੰਡ ਫੂਟੇ ॥੨੦॥
mahaaraaj baajeen ke moondd footte |20|And the heads of the horses of great kings are getting sore. 20.
ਚੌਪਈ ॥
chauapee |twenty four:
ਬੀਸ ਹਜਾਰ ਕਰੀ ਕੁਪਿ ਮਾਰੇ ॥
bees hajaar karee kup maare |(The demon) got angry and killed twenty thousand elephants
ਤੀਸ ਹਜਾਰ ਅਸ੍ਵ ਹਨਿ ਡਾਰੈ ॥
tees hajaar asv han ddaarai |And has given thirty thousand horses.
ਚਾਲਿਸ ਸਹਸ ਰਥਿਨ ਰਥ ਟੂਟੈ ॥
chaalis sahas rathin rath ttoottai |The chariots of forty thousand charioteers have been broken
