ਆਪਨ ਰਹਤ ਨਿਰਾਲਮ ਜਗ ਤੇ ॥
aapan rahat niraalam jag te |He Himself remains detached from the world,
ਜਾਨ ਲਏ ਜਾ ਨਾਮੈ ਤਬ ਤੇ ॥੫॥
jaan le jaa naamai tab te |5|I know this fact from the very beginning (ancient times).5.
ਆਪ ਰਚੇ ਆਪੇ ਕਲ ਘਾਏ ॥
aap rache aape kal ghaae |He creates Himself and destroys Himself
ਅਵਰਨ ਕੇ ਦੇ ਮੂੰਡਿ ਹਤਾਏ ॥
avaran ke de moondd hataae |But He imposes the responsibility on the head of others
ਆਪ ਨਿਰਾਲਮ ਰਹਾ ਨ ਪਾਯਾ ॥
aap niraalam rahaa na paayaa |He Himself remains detached and Beyond Everything
ਤਾ ਤੇ ਨਾਮ ਬਿਅੰਤ ਕਹਾਯਾ ॥੬॥
taa te naam biant kahaayaa |6|Therefore, He is called ‘Infinite’.6.
ਜੋ ਚਉਬੀਸ ਅਵਤਾਰ ਕਹਾਏ ॥
jo chaubees avataar kahaae |Those who are called twenty-four incarnations
ਤਿਨ ਭੀ ਤੁਮ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤਨਿਕ ਨ ਪਾਏ ॥
tin bhee tum prabh tanik na paae |O Lord! they even could not realise thee in a small measure
ਸਭ ਹੀ ਜਗ ਭਰਮੇ ਭਵਰਾਯੰ ॥
sabh hee jag bharame bhavaraayan |They became kings of the world and got deluded
ਤਾ ਤੇ ਨਾਮ ਬਿਅੰਤ ਕਹਾਯੰ ॥੭॥
taa te naam biant kahaayan |7|Therefore they were called by innumerable names.7.
ਸਭ ਹੀ ਛਲਤ ਨ ਆਪ ਛਲਾਯਾ ॥
sabh hee chhalat na aap chhalaayaa |O Lord! Thou hast been deluding others, but could not be deluded by others
ਤਾ ਤੇ ਛਲੀਆ ਆਪ ਕਹਾਯਾ ॥
taa te chhaleea aap kahaayaa |Therefore Thou art called ‘Crafty’
ਸੰਤਨ ਦੁਖੀ ਨਿਰਖਿ ਅਕੁਲਾਵੈ ॥
santan dukhee nirakh akulaavai |Thou becomest agitated on seeing the saints in agony,
ਦੀਨ ਬੰਧੁ ਤਾ ਤੇ ਕਹਲਾਵੈ ॥੮॥
deen bandh taa te kahalaavai |8|Therefore Thou art also called ‘the fiend of the humble’.8.
ਅੰਤਿ ਕਰਤ ਸਭ ਜਗ ਕੋ ਕਾਲਾ ॥
ant karat sabh jag ko kaalaa |At time Thou destroyest the universe
ਨਾਮੁ ਕਾਲ ਤਾ ਤੇ ਜਗ ਡਾਲਾ ॥
naam kaal taa te jag ddaalaa |Therefore the world hath named you KAL (the Destroyer Lord)
ਸਮੈ ਸੰਤ ਪਰ ਹੋਤ ਸਹਾਈ ॥
samai sant par hot sahaaee |Thou hast been helping all the saints
ਤਾ ਤੇ ਸੰਖ੍ਯਾ ਸੰਤ ਸੁਨਾਈ ॥੯॥
taa te sankhayaa sant sunaaee |9|Therefore the saints have reckoned Thy incarnations.9.
ਨਿਰਖਿ ਦੀਨ ਪਰ ਹੋਤ ਦਿਆਰਾ ॥
nirakh deen par hot diaaraa |Seeing Thy mercifulness towards the lowly
ਦੀਨ ਬੰਧੁ ਹਮ ਤਬੈ ਬਿਚਾਰਾ ॥
deen bandh ham tabai bichaaraa |Thy name ‘Deen Bandhu’ (the helper of the lowly) hath been thought out
ਸੰਤਨ ਪਰ ਕਰੁਣਾ ਰਸੁ ਢਰਈ ॥
santan par karunaa ras dtaree |Thou art Compassionate towards the saints
ਕਰੁਣਾਨਿਧਿ ਜਗ ਤਬੈ ਉਚਰਈ ॥੧੦॥
karunaanidh jag tabai ucharee |10|Therefore the world calls Thee ‘Karuna-nidhi’ (the Tresure of mercy).10.
ਸੰਕਟ ਹਰਤ ਸਾਧਵਨ ਸਦਾ ॥
sankatt harat saadhavan sadaa |Thou ever removest the distress of the saints
ਸੰਕਟ ਹਰਨ ਨਾਮੁ ਭਯੋ ਤਦਾ ॥
sankatt haran naam bhayo tadaa |Therefore Thou art named ‘Sankat-haran’, the remover of the distresses
