ਹੋ ਬਸ੍ਯੋ ਰਹਤ ਅਬਲਾ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਨਿਤ੍ਯ ਚਿਤ ॥੪॥
ho basayo rahat abalaa ke preetam nitay chit |4|(He) Beloved always resided in that woman's mind. 4.
ਚੌਪਈ ॥

ਮੂਰਖ ਰਾਵ ਜਬੈ ਸੁਨਿ ਪਾਈ ॥
moorakh raav jabai sun paaee |When the king heard (this),
ਭਾਤਿ ਭਾਤਿ ਰਾਨੀ ਡਰ ਪਾਈ ॥
bhaat bhaat raanee ddar paaee |So Rani was scared in many ways.
ਯਾ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਕੋ ਅਬ ਹੀ ਹਨਿ ਦੈਹੌ ॥
yaa triy ko ab hee han daihau |(The king thinks that) kill this woman now
ਖੋਦਿ ਭੂਮਿ ਕੇ ਬਿਖੈ ਗਡੈਹੌ ॥੫॥
khod bhoom ke bikhai gaddaihau |5|And I dig the earth and press it in. 5.
ਜਬ ਰਾਨੀ ਐਸੇ ਸੁਨਿ ਪਾਯੋ ॥
jab raanee aaise sun paayo |When the queen heard this,
ਤੌਨ ਜਾਰ ਕੋ ਬੋਲਿ ਪਠਾਯੋ ॥
tauan jaar ko bol patthaayo |So called that friend.
ਤਾ ਕੇ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਸੰਗ ਮੁਹਿ ਲੀਜੈ ॥
taa ke kahiyo sang muhi leejai |He told me to take him with me
ਅਪਨੇ ਦੇਸ ਪਯਾਨੋ ਕੀਜੈ ॥੬॥
apane des payaano keejai |6|Go to your country. 6.
ਮੰਦਿਰ ਏਕ ਉਜਾਰਿ ਬਨਾਯੋ ॥
mandir ek ujaar banaayo |They built a house in the wilderness.
ਦੋ ਦ੍ਵਾਰਨ ਤਾ ਮੈ ਰਖਵਾਯੋ ॥
do dvaaran taa mai rakhavaayo |Put two doors in it.
ਹਮ ਖੋਜਤ ਇਹ ਮਗ ਜੌ ਐਹੈ ॥
ham khojat ih mag jau aaihai |Finding us (if the king) come through this way
ਦੂਜੇ ਦ੍ਵਾਰ ਨਿਕਸਿ ਹਮ ਜੈਹੈ ॥੭॥
dooje dvaar nikas ham jaihai |7|(So) let us go out through the other door. 7.
ਅੜਿਲ ॥
arril |adamant:
ਏਕ ਸਾਢਨੀ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਕੀ ਲਈ ਮੰਗਾਇ ਕੈ ॥
ek saadtanee nrip kee lee mangaae kai |(They) took a close request of the king.
ਤਾ ਪਰ ਭਏ ਸ੍ਵਾਰ ਦੋਊ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਇ ਕੈ ॥
taa par bhe svaar doaoo sukh paae kai |Both rode on it happily.
ਤੌਨ ਮਹਲ ਕੇ ਭੀਤਰ ਪਹੁਚੇ ਆਇ ਕਰਿ ॥
tauan mahal ke bheetar pahuche aae kar |They arrived in that palace
ਹੌ ਭਾਤਿ ਭਾਤਿ ਕੇ ਕੇਲ ਕਰੇ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਇ ਕਰਿ ॥੮॥
hau bhaat bhaat ke kel kare sukh paae kar |8|And started to play various sports with happiness. 8.
ਸੁਨਿ ਰਾਜਾ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਭਜੀ ਚੜਿਯੋ ਰਿਸਿ ਖਾਇ ਕੈ ॥
sun raajaa triy bhajee charriyo ris khaae kai |When the king heard (the story) of the woman's escape, he went away in anger.
ਸਾਥੀ ਲੀਨੋ ਸੰਗ ਨ ਕੋਊ ਬੁਲਾਇ ਕੈ ॥
saathee leeno sang na koaoo bulaae kai |Do not invite any partner.
ਲੈ ਪਾਇਨ ਕੇ ਖੋਜ ਪਹੂਚਿਯੋ ਆਇ ਕਰਿ ॥
lai paaein ke khoj pahoochiyo aae kar |He arrived with a foot well
ਹੋ ਵਾ ਮੰਦਿਰ ਕੇ ਮਾਝ ਧਸ੍ਰਯੋ ਕੁਰਰਾਇ ਕਰਿ ॥੯॥
ho vaa mandir ke maajh dhasrayo kuraraae kar |9|And muttering, he entered that palace. 9.
ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥
doharaa |dual:
ਥਕਿ ਸਾਢਿਨ ਤਿਨ ਕੀ ਗਈ ਤਹਾ ਜੁ ਪਹੁਚੇ ਜਾਇ ॥
thak saadtin tin kee gee tahaa ju pahuche jaae |They (the queen and the merchant) reached there exhausted.
ਅਥਕ ਊਾਂਟਨੀ ਰਾਵ ਚੜਿ ਤਹਾ ਪਹੂੰਚਿਯੋ ਆਇ ॥੧੦॥
athak aooaanttanee raav charr tahaa pahoonchiyo aae |10|But the king tirelessly climbed the stairs and reached there. 10.
ਉਤਰ ਸਾਢਿ ਤੇ ਰਾਵ ਤਬ ਤਹਾ ਚੜਿਯੋ ਰਿਸਿ ਖਾਇ ॥
autar saadt te raav tab tahaa charriyo ris khaae |Descending from the bridge, the king went up there in a rage (and began to think in his mind).
ਇਨ ਦੁਹੂੰਅਨ ਗਹਿ ਜਮ ਸਦਨ ਦੈਹੌ ਅਬੈ ਪਠਾਇ ॥੧੧॥
ein duhoonan geh jam sadan daihau abai patthaae |11|That by catching these two, I reach Yama-loka now. 11.
ਚੌਪਈ ॥

ਇਹ ਮਾਰਗ ਜਬ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਚੜਿ ਗਏ ॥
eih maarag jab nrip charr ge |When the king ascended from this path,
ਦੁਤਿਯ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਉਤਰਤ ਤੇ ਭਏ ॥
dutiy maarag utarat te bhe |(So) they got off by another route.
ਅਥਕ ਸਾਢਨੀ ਪਰ ਚੜਿ ਬੈਠੈ ॥
athak saadtanee par charr baitthai |He (the king) is on a tireless journey
ਰਾਨੀ ਸਹਿਤ ਸੁ ਜਾਰ ਇਕੈਠੈ ॥੧੨॥
raanee sahit su jaar ikaitthai |12|Rani and Yaar rode together. 12.
ਅੜਿਲ ॥
arril |adamant:
ਅਥਕ ਸਾਢਿ ਚੜਿ ਬੈਠੈ ਦਈ ਧਵਾਇ ਕੈ ॥
athak saadt charr baitthai dee dhavaae kai |Seated on the tireless sandhani drove (him away).
ਪਵਨ ਬੇਗਿ ਜ੍ਯੋ ਚਲੀ ਮਿਲੈ ਕੋ ਜਾਇ ਕੈ ॥
pavan beg jayo chalee milai ko jaae kai |(She) went with the speed of the wind, well who could meet her.
ਉਤਰਿ ਰਾਵ ਕਾ ਦੇਖੈ ਦਿਸਟਿ ਪਸਾਰਿ ਕੈ ॥
autar raav kaa dekhai disatt pasaar kai |What does the king see after coming down from the palace?
ਹੋ ਉਤਿਮ ਸਾਢਿਨ ਹਰੀ ਮਤ ਮਹਿ ਮਾਰਿ ਕੈ ॥੧੩॥
ho utim saadtin haree mat meh maar kai |13|That they have taken me to the best place by making me a fool. 13.
ਚੌਪਈ ॥

ਤਬ ਰਾਜਾ ਪ੍ਰਯਾਦੋ ਰਹਿ ਗਯੋ ॥
tab raajaa prayaado reh gayo |Then the king (kind of) stayed on foot.
ਪਹੁਚਤ ਤਿਨੈ ਨ ਕ੍ਯੋਹੂੰ ਭਯੋ ॥
pahuchat tinai na kayohoon bhayo |Could not reach them in any way.
ਛਲ ਬਲ ਸਭ ਅਪਨੇ ਕਰਿ ਹਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
chhal bal sabh apane kar haariyo |He lost by using all his tricks.
ਲੈ ਰਾਨੀ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਜਾਰ ਪਧਾਰਿਯੋ ॥੧੪॥
lai raanee grih jaar padhaariyo |14|(He) took Yar Rani to (his) house. 14.
ਅੜਿਲ ॥

ਦੁਹੂੰ ਹਾਥ ਨਿਜੁ ਮੂੰਡ ਛਾਰ ਡਾਰਤ ਭਯੋ ॥
duhoon haath nij moondd chhaar ddaarat bhayo |(The king) applied clay to his head with both his hands,
ਜਨੁਕ ਰਾਹ ਮੈ ਲੂਟਿ ਕਿਨੂ ਤਾ ਕੌ ਲਯੋ ॥
januk raah mai loott kinoo taa kau layo |As if someone had robbed him on the way.
ਗਿਰਿਯੋ ਝੂਮਿ ਕੈ ਭੂਮਿ ਅਧਿਕ ਮੁਰਝਾਇ ਕੈ ॥
giriyo jhoom kai bhoom adhik murajhaae kai |He fainted and fell on the ground
ਹੋ ਡੂਬਿ ਨਦੀ ਮਹਿ ਮਰਿਯੋ ਅਧਿਕ ਬਿਖ ਖਾਇ ਕੈ ॥੧੫॥
ho ddoob nadee meh mariyo adhik bikh khaae kai |15|And after eating a lot of poison, he drowned in the river. 15.
